Time at Shadowlack runs parallel to time in real life; one year at Shadowlack is equivalent to one year in real life. This kind of time schedule is often referred to as Liquid Time (or Fluid Time) in the Play by Post community. Since Shadowlack operates in Liquid Time, you are allowed to roleplay your characters in multiple threads at once. This way you are not always waiting for one person to reply. Instead, you can build up a queue of threads to participate in and keep yourself active.

To help with worldwide plots, Shadowlack subscribes to a system called Timestamping. This helps us easily "sync up" real world times with game times, and allows us to create roleplay threads that are in the past, and in the future. Feel like roleplaying your character as they were five years ago when something life altering occurred? You can do that! A Timestamp simply consists of a Ramathian day and year which allows it to attach itself to our world timeline.

Days

The length of a Ramathian day is approximately 28 hours long. The hours are numbered from 00 (midnight) to 27, much like standard Military Time.

Weeks

One Ramathian week is ten days long. It consists of a seven day work week and a three day weekend.

Quarters & Holidays

Due to the unreliable concept of months, Ramathians instead refer to the planet's quarters (or seasons) when referring to dates.

Quarter Date Span Real Life Ramathian Holidays
Mia (Winter) 1 – 115 December, January, February None
Dyo (Spring) 116 – 230 March, April, May Lybaj'tpui & Redival
Tria (Summer) 231 – 345 June, July, August Ahoner, Notek Festival, Quangest & Tumhuem
Tessera (Autumn) 346 – 460 September, October, November None

Years

The planet Ramath-lehi makes one full rotation around its sun once every 460 days.

Corresponding Out of Character Years

Each year at Shadowlack is equivalent to one year in real life.

Weather Conditions

Temperatures vary greatly from continent to continent on Ramath-lehi. Because of its position in relation to its sun, the climate on Ramath-lehi is significantly colder than that of Earth. However, most of its inhabitants are equipped with insulating fur of some manner, while those more susceptible to cold tend to populate the warmer equator regions.
