Khell, also known as Khellin, are a subspecies of pendragon that are native to the Trilok continent.
Description
Most Khellin have thin, long fur. The fur is normally brushed backwards on the arms as their isn't as much fur on them like the rest of their body. Their ears, just as well, have the fur brushed in one direction, mainly upwards to keep warm in cold weather. Some Khellin, mostly males, grow whiskers around four years old. The whiskers, unlike their normal fur, is somewhat thicker and shorter. The whiskers always grow in a grey or white color but are normally painted to another color by choice of the Khell's parents.
When a Khell is born, they come out covered in a sticky liquid that gradually sinks into the skin (like lotion). Sometimes there is too much of the liquid and the excess stays on the fur and hardens. When this happens, the fur, hair, tail, and wings becomes glossy and shiny. The gloss also helps the Khell keep warm as it prevents cold air going through the fur and also helps absorb heat. If the fur is ever cut, the gloss grows back when the fur does. This occurrence of "shiny" Khell is much more frequent in females than males.
Wings are natural in Khell. Like the whiskers, the wings are always naturally white or grey. However, the wings are painted by the wearer instead of the parents. However, if the Khell chooses to do this, they cannot receive any help in doing it (meaning any part of the wing that are unreachable will remain its original color).
When the child is around 10 years, they are given a mark symbolizing both the Khell group and their family lineage. The family mark can be made of numerous tattoos and markings. The marks differ by family.
Khellin come in all shapes and sizes (except square). The males usually dominate in height rather than females. The females have longer muzzles than the males.
Khellin are omnivorous. They mainly eat meat, but when meat becomes scarce, it's not abnormal to eat plant leaves to survive. Fish is a main source for food for many Khellin.
Reproduction and Social Life
Rather than laying eggs, Khellin give birth to live offspring. Newborns are normally born a height around 14-18 inches. Their fur is short, but is fully grown in a week. They are breastfed until their teeth harden, and are capable of chewing food.
There are three large groups of Khell that reside in the Trilok area: the Sfeledhs, the Uojyju, and the Nyymthupa. The groups are easily distinguished by their Khell mark.
Community structures are as follows:
Laupaj: Title for leader. From each group, there are four Laupajt: 2 male, 2 female. These 12 pendragons are responsible for making sure everything goes right within each respective group and also regulating trade. The Laupajt are also the ones in charge of the Neurotech Science Facility.
Alpaj: The Alpaj are the teachers of the Nemyj and Nuqyj. The Alpaj are masters in the trades that they function in and are patient enough to pass their information to younger generations.
Oldho/a: Reference of a Khell to their parents. Oldho to fathers, Oldha to mothers. A father or a mother is held with higher esteem than a normal adult Khell without children. They normally get less important jobs, however, than the Ylphy, until their children grow old enough to work. This way, they have more time to spend with their kids.
Ylphy: An adult Khell, without any offspring. Ylphy are given most of the tough yet important jobs in society.
Nuqyj: Children between the ages of 13-16. Nuqyj are seen as 'mature' and are allowed to many things that Ylphy can do, like vote on a new Laupaj. They are not, however, allowed outside of their homes after 11PM without supervision.
Nemyj: Children under the age of 12. They are the less privileged than the Nuqyj and are not able to vote or be outside after 9PM without supervision. Habitat
Khellin are most frequently found within the Trilok continent. However, few have migrated to different places like Bhim, or Notios Sudesha.
