Un-lurker me please. ;D And some new plants, ohyes. Because the creative juices are flowing and I have nothing to do with them :< Smoke Root ADDED - http://shadowlack.com/life/flora.php?id=65http://shadowlack.com/life/flora.php?id=65</a> Category: Herbs - Spices Biomes: Caves, Mountains, Wetlands Frequency: Uncommon Edible: Yes Size: Grows outward spanning large ares to almost 5 or six feet around Description Smoke Roots are not typically roots, but their roots are a key factor. The leaves themselves smoke, the scent is repulsive to many. They are grey and rather dull. When the Smoke Root does flower it produces many small white blossoms that bloom and die within a week. The root itself is scorching to the touch, and must be handled with gloves. After an hour of being pulled from the ground it loses most of the heat and is safe to touch with bare hands. This is the part most often used in foods, but the leaves are edible as well. The flowers can also be eaten like broccoli, but are not as commonly used. Habitat Smoke Root only grows in desolate areas or humid places. Often in mountains or caves, due to the fact that nothing really attempts to eat it there, and it can grow large in peace. Or in wetlands and swamps, they are more commonly found in these areas but are much smaller. --- Scanzi ADDED - http://shadowlack.com/life/flora.php?id=66http://shadowlack.com/life/flora.php?id=66</a> Category: Weeds Biomes: Grassland, Temperate Forest, Coastline Frequency: Very Common Edible: It is munched on by Fauna but no sane 'Dragon would want to eat it. Size: Grows in tufts often seven to eight inches tall. Description Scanzi is an annoying weed that pops up at the worst of times. It grows in tufts of green grass-like leaves and expands its roots underground killing anything else by stealing water. It blooms with large yellow or orange flowers and produces many seeds much like an earthen Dandelion. Habitat It grows everywhere that has warms summers, and thrives best in wet areas.
Ho'oh crap. Why did I put these together? x.o Ohwell. Feel free to make me split them/move this around. xD
Man, I love it when we get new plants. ^_^ Got a question about the first one, is there any reason why in particular it gets so hot to touch after it's picked? Some sort of defence mechanism perhaps? I de-lurkified your account for you. :)
That's what I think, since its root is so tasty is developed that to prevent creatures from eating it, same for the smell. Thankies Joddles c:
