She turned to him. Yes, she would like to 'bust outta of here', as Shadow puts it. She calls it more like escaping. This place felt like a prison to her. Worse than one of her father's dungeons. Good idea. she whispered back, using the same hused tone that Shadow had used. She didn't know why as it was clear that there was no need to whisper, considering that only both of them were in the room and the hallway was quiet and empty. Perhaps it was the fever talking. I'll get to grab the food. The energy from all the fish she ate yesterday had gone and she was already feeling hungry. By then, the nurse came in, holding a bottle of antibiotics. Veaji watched as the nurse tend to Shadow, putting on... stuffs. She didn't know, for her medical knowledge was equivalent to negative one. Maybe she should take up medical classes. But would she be tought in a hospital? She shuddered at the thought. The nurse finally finished and now was giving Shadow a prep talk about his leg. Veaji wasted no time. She pulled out the needle from her arm and pulled away the cable stuck to her body. Instantly the machine gave out a flat tone and the nurse turned, fearful that a patient had died. "Hey!" Veaji leapt out of bed and ran down the hallway. She was dizzy and giddy but she didn't care. She took a glance at the directory and headed for the cafeteria. She needed food.
Veaji whispered her reply to him, and as he had guessed she was well up for it. She was going to grab the food? Now he had a feeling that she wasn't thinking on the same level... he had meant to order something in at the cottage. He was about to say something when the nurse re-entered the room, a tub of pills in her hand. She placed on a few medical dressings to aid the healing process. beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee..... A horrible high pitched noise filled his ears and even he feared the worst, the nurse looked round with sheer terror. But on seeing veaji trotting of a "high" speeds he just had to chuckle. The nurse mad e to call assistance which was stopped by shadows paw. i'll get her, dont worry the nurse didn't argue, grasped a pair of crutches from the corner and softly took the needle out fromhis arm as the empty blood pak as of no further use... Shadow placed his arms in the ctutches, grabbed the bag of both their belongings and speedily made his way after veaji... soon and now a little breathless he came to cafeteria scanning the room for the thill.
Eyes settled on Veaji as she tore down the hallway and turned a corner. One or two nurses tried to stop her but she managed to dodge them and made her way to the cafeteria, still free and breathing heavily. Her nose now was filled with the smell of cooked meat and congee. Slowing down her pace, she walked over to the food counter. The chef had his back to her and she silently walked in to the other side of the counter. Spotting meat, she reached out a paw to grab it only to get her paw knocked away by a silver ladle. Instinctively she pulled back her paw and lick the spot where the hot ladle had landed. "Excuse me. Just what do you think you're doing?" came a gruff voice. Veaji looked up to find herself staring at pupiless eyes. Even though pupiless, she could see he wasn't too happy. Oh, it's alright. I'll be gone. she replied, keeping a firm gaze at the chef. I'll be gone right after I get my feed. And with her quick agility, she reached out her paw and scooped the warm meat off the tray - just like she was catching fish. The chef made a move to knock her with the ladle again but she backed away, ladle narrowly missing her muzzle. The sudden movement had made her a little more dizzy and she put her other paw on the counter to steady herself. Well, I guess I'll be going. she made a little movement and teleported to the cafeteria entrance. Gravy dripped to the floor as she looked at the meat. It wasn't a good meal... too skinny. But she had no more time to ponder it as the chef was already calling security and shouting at her to come back with the stolen food. Shadow! Hi! she exclaimed when she crashed right into him as she started her run. The meat had flung out of her claws and unto the floor. I think we need to get out now. She was now looking at a few guards running their way and heard the thumping of the chef's pawsteps behind her. Even with her high fever, she still had the mood up for a fight.
Shadow had clacked down the hall with blundering crutch speed as he soon found himself, Wopped by veaji. She had stolen some meat seemingly, the chefs angry face said it all... not the kind of takeaway i planned for us. And with that he turned tail to the nearest exit... which he happened to be beside. Veaji must have been feeling better too as she was quite up for a challenge it seemed. Shadow pulled her along with his tail out of the hospital and into a nearby taxi. Shadow said breathlessly to the driver. Watani, Lance cottage... near brittle streeet.... And with a screecing of wheels they were off, and now hopefully safe.
She let herself be dragged into the taxi. The seat was plush and comfortable. Veaji had never been in one before and she took the moment to savour the feel of smooth leather. She was excited of getting out of the hospital. The deadly hospital. Flashes of the chef's face came into her head, together with the nurse and the guards... they all have weird expressions on their faces. Veaji was probably the only patient in that particular hospital whom acted like a lunatic. She looked out the window. Watched as the hospital got smaller and smaller and smaller. Then she burst out laughing. It was so sudden that it took her by surprise. She saw the driver's brow pulled into a frown in through the rearview mirror and that made her laugh harder. She wondered if her companion thought her as one. As a lunatic. Finally her hysterical laughter turned into a simple smile. She breathe in more air for she had lost much during her burst. Turning to Shadow, she said, You must think me mad. She looked down at her paws and then at the burnt mark on top of her right paw. I assure you I am not... well, maybe just a little. She let out a sigh and then look out the window. The fever had definately not gone down or she wouldn't be acting like this. Come to think of it, she was feeling tired after that little act. She was feeling parched too. Her eyes slowly shut. Her head had found Shadow's shoulder. The last thing she heard was the radio, playing a soft melody. The one her grandmother used to hum to her. Her grandmother who left for Fromina in a hospital.
