She smiled looking at her daughter suspiciously as she smiled into her cup of tea, Shiden looked somewhat discomforted, sitting rather awkwardly on the sofa. Teioh laughed inwardly at the pair and settled herself between them. And upon opening the leather bound book, Nykjek could feel her fur turn a magenta shade. {this was her first birthday party...} Teioh began, pointing to the picture of a smaller Nykjek, with huge emerald eyes and the most innocent of look while she held a white harok in her paws. {i bought her a white harok for her to care for... hes still alive actually - hes in the back yard... your father wants to have him for a meal, but he has to get through me first...} She smiled over to her reddened child. {but any ways, shiden have you thought of any names for your children to be? After all the eggs are due any day now...}
<span style='color:gray'>Well, well well, someone never told me they had a pet</span> He said, smirking at nykjek. As her mother asked the question, he scratched the back of his head and sighed a little. <span style='color:gray'>I haven't given it much thought. I know I wasn't named until after I was born, but I think the mother should decide.</span> He said, deflecting the question back to his mate.
Nykjek scrunched her yes up as she found that the choice was turned upon her. "if its a girl, i name it, otherwise its up to you dear..." she said sweetly to her mate "tikka is alive still, i'd love to see him again.." {well sure, you can take him with you if you want.. its means he'll be safer with you... and he can go back to being a house harok, Are you both staying for dinner?} Teioh breathed momentairily {of course you are! and it gives you a chance to see your dad... he has to give the blessing unfortunately...}
<span style='color:gray'>That's okay, I'll get one way or another</span> He said in response to the comment about the blessing. <span style='color:gray'>Come on nykjek, lets see your pet</span> He said, standing up and walking to the back door, waiting for her.
"sure" Nykjek said ignoring the first response from Shiden, She looked at her mother who only smiled sadly at the broken part of their family. {i'll start the roast, you may as well bring him in later if you plan on taking him home} And as nykjek dragged shiden into the secluded back garden, she ran/waddled to the hutch at the other end her fingers grasping the mesh. Tikka her harok hopped out from his hut to greet his long missed owner. "this is mt old pet Tikka... cute huh..."
<span style='color:gray'>Yeah, it is. But not as cute as you</span> He whispered, giving her a peck on the ear and scratching the harok, smiling at it. <span style='color:gray'>Hey little guy, how are ya?</span>
The white harok pressed up against the coal coloured digit and squeaked happily to the two. Nykjek twitched her ear after the small kiss turning to look at her mate a smile at him tenderly... "i'm a little worried about my father... you wont fight him will you?"
<span style='color:gray'>If that's what it takes. </span> He said, shaking his head a little and sitting down, pulling nykjek into his lap as his other arm continued to scratch the harok. He didn't want to fight, but if that was what it would take to get her fathers approval, he would do it. <span style='color:gray'>But I will give you this, I won't start the fight.</span>
"that'll do.." She sighed, leaning her head against Shidens. Her digits opened the latch to the hutch and she carefully lifted Tikka from the frosty prison. She sat his furry hide on her belly scritching under his chin affectionately. " if its a boy, shiden still has to name it... huh tikka...?" She crooned to the fluff, catching a side glance with his dark eyes.
<span style='color:gray'>Yeah yeah... But as for right now...</span> He said, then catching her lips in a fierce kiss. He pulled away quickly, smirking at her. <span style='color:gray'>It's payback time </span>
The fierce kiss left nykjek silent, as she looked to the window to see her mothers back turned. "Shiden...we'll get caught..." her hushed tone whispered in his ear. Tikka just looked confounded to the pair of lovers, soon hopping from her arms back into his pen. "and looked you've scared tikka off" she smiled.
<span style='color:gray'>Fine, I'll save payback for later</span> He said, giving her a quick peck and reaching into the harok's pen, gently pulling it out and setting ti back on nykjeks lap.
"i look forward to it..." she murmered into his ear, taking the Harok in her paws tenderly as her tail wrapped around shidens waist. "should we take him back with us??" She asked him referring to her old pet.
<span style='color:gray'>Why not, besides, your mom might need help with the cooking.</span> He said, standing up and giving her a gentle kiss. He would save "payback" for later, but that didn't mean he would not try to give her confidence to face her father. It was a kiss to show support, that he would never leave her.
"you hear that tikka, youre coming home!" Nykjek said gleefully to her pet, rubbing her nose against its own. she nodded to Shiden in agreement with helping her mom. and before she stood up a passionate kiss was administered to the arden.
Shiden stood up soon after, a little dizzy from her kiss. <span style='color:gray'>What was that for?</span> He asked, shaking his head and smiling at her, wrapping his wings around them and scratching the harok under the chin.
Nykjek said nothing in return to her mate, but instead just smiled at him, her paw brushing through his hair on his head. Tikka was placed back in his pen for now and she watched as he flopped into the warmth of his bed, his nose the only indicator of his exsistance. Keeping her cooling body snuggled inside those warm emerald wings she sought comfort in at night. She found herself somewhat reluctant to go inside - her father would be home any minute now and she was dreading how he would react to her return. But it would be safer to go inside, he wouldnt use his magics there. She hoped. "we had better go in and help now, i bagsy setting the table..." Nykjek said with another deep kiss to his handsome maw, she liffted herself from his warm touch as she walked amblily towards the rear door into the kitchen. Silver paws pushed the dooer open into the steaming kitchen, her mother gave a fleeting smile before stirring the veg in the pot once more. {set the table honey, before you father gets back} Nykjek nodded in reply to her busying mother, grabbing the old familiar basket filled with the place mats and other utensils for eating with and proceeded throughto the living room which had been changed into a small dining room. four chairs were placed around the rectangular table, and as nykjek laid the basket in the middle to begin setting the table out, the front door swung open with a bang against the lounge door. Nykjek dropped the knife she had been about to place beside the red placemats. The steel ringing out like the sudden pain in nykjeks stomach, She looked down in wild panic as she saw the flicker of static diffuse her sorcery skills to dust. Her fearful eyes looked around to meet her fathers burning with hatred for her. She couldnt move. She was frozen to the spot in fear as her father took those huge strides she remebered as a child. His huge paw raised up into the air an icy aura draping around his fur in a dangerous icy block. In those moment things were in slow motion - her mother running towards them a fire in her eyes aswell as in her paws, her fathers hand crushing into her face sending an agonising pain through her bones. Her head seemed to bounce off the solid table as she soon found her self desperately trying to keep her self in the waking world. Black spots shaded her sight before she fell into a deep nightmarish state of unresponsiveness.
Shiden had walked in just as her father hit her, sending her to the floor. The faint aura around him became blinding, making his presence known. <span style='color:gray'>YOU BASTARD</span> He yelled, dissapearing in a flash of electricity, only to find himself with his hand around her fathers throat, claws digging into the wall behind him. His eyes burned with a fire that seemed real, as if it would scorch you. His grip tightened, almost crushing her fathers neck. <span style='color:gray'>If you touch her again, I will kill you</span>' He said, his voice as cold as the wind outside.
Nykjek was out cold as she lay in the position she had fell in, her paws still grasped her pregnant belly hoping even in her dire state that her unborn would be alright. One last noise escaped her as she heard her mates voice holler. A tiny whine and a tear rolliing down her cheek into her hair. Teioh ran towrds the pair of ardens trying to pull Shidens arm away from her husbands, her attempts were desperate and she used her telekinesis all her might in hope to try and bring things to a halt. {Stop please.} she begged in the most pleading of voices.
<span style='color:gray'>I will not hesitate to follow through on my promise</span> He said, letting her father go at Teioh's request. He moved over to nykjek, gathering her body in his arms and letting her head rest against him, his arms wrapped around her in a protective embrace. A dangerous aura was about him, one that spoke of a desire to kill. He gently lifted her up and walked past her father, barely restraining himself from kicking the arden. Nykjek was layed down on the couch, shiden kneeling beside her and burying his muzzle in her neck, trying to make sure she was okay. His wings splayed out as a sort of screen, blocking her parents view of the situation. He would not let anyone see his mate in this position, hurt beyond words physically and emotionally.
