1. Korif silently laughed. Fair enough... Another flash. Why...? He could've sworn it'd passed... Korif sighed. Oh well... looks like I'm stuck with it... The quiet whisps of Leah's breath on the thief's ear made him tingle. It felt nice. Which was hard to find here in Bhim, but not impossible, as Korif had discovered. That said, he didn't think himself too deserving of such luxuries, having left home without warning and constantly drawing attention to himself. Still, it was wonderful.

2. She ran her finger nails down either side of his face, barely touching him. Then slowly moving her hands down his neck and resting them on his shoulders. She kissed Korif chastely and moved her arms loosely about his shoulders.

Should I keep going?

3. If you want... Korif gave her a grin. He knew where this was heading and he enjoyed toying with scenarios in his head. He just hoped those curtains were pretty thick. As Leah went from face to neck and stopping at shoulders, Korif had completely slackened. All his cares had been thrown to the wind and he forgot about all the bad things happening to him.

4. Leah gave a genuine smile, the fingers of one hand toying over the first button on Korif's shirt. Her other hand had gone to the back of his neck as she kissed him in a way that was anything, but chaste. She got the first button undone, but didn't make a move to start on the second.

I think the couch may be a tad small, no? She breathed.

5. I think you could be right... Korif sat up and grinned at Leah. Gunshots echoed into the street, bullets flying through the window. As he heard the glass shatter, Korif threw himself to cover Leah, hoping to god a lucky one didn't get her somewhere vital. No! Those fuckers! They're going to fucking pay for this...! It was thoughts like these that Korif was too angered to shield. He clutched Leah as if she were the only lifeline he had left. But goddammit, the shots just kept coming! Korif was starting to get confused. What was he supposed to do first? Should he get Leah out or go and kill those bastards that had been on his back since he was a kid? Confusion was never a good thing for Korif. It sparked... something in him. He could feel the push as he got closer to a frenzied state, something that all of society looked down on. He knew it would happen, and he didn't want Leah to see it.

6. Leah was jolted from her relaxed state and found herself being sheilded by Korif in a space of time that moved much too quickly. Feeling something out of place she prodded around his barriers, it almost reminded her of a weredragon, but she would have been able to tell before... wouldn't she?

Korif, I know you're currently pissed out of your mind at the moment, but just listen. I know you hate Jaz, but she's the least likely 'dragon to attract attention, not only that, but you don't mess with her or her family. Something happens around there and she'll be sure it isn't forgotten for a long time. She said, keeping her voice level.

She kissed his cheek then nodded and shot her eyes over to the door.

7. Alright... I'm going to kill them, first... then we can go and see Jaz... Korif growled through clenched teeth. He climbed off the sofa, crouched, and took a tight but easy grip on Leah's arm. He guided her to the door and sidled along the wall by the shattered window. I'll be back in a minute. he whispered, then threw himself between the curtains and out into the streets. A moment of infrequent gunfire and screams, as well as what sounded like a rather feral snarling, and everything went deadly quiet. Korif clambered back in through the window and had obviously done away with them. The liquid evidence was on his hands and muzzle.

8. Leah opened her mouth to protest, she'd meant to go to Jaz's so they wouldn't have to kill anyone. But then he was gone... dammit. She stood against the wall, wings furled so they mostly covered her and tried to block out what she could, which wasn't much.

Unless there are more, I don't suppose there's much of a point in going to see Jaz is there? She said, her vioce only indicated that she was shaken, not that she was exactly angry, she'd didn't take to being shot at very kindly.

9. There's more. We can go and see Jaz if you like. Korif's voice was shuddery, too. He was obviously recovering from the whack-out he'd just suffered from. As he spoke he wiped the blood from his muzzle, but a slight glimpse of his teeth revealed that he hadn't been punched in the mouth, and that he'd used one of the most primitive executions in the book. Still, they were dead, and that was the important thing.

10. How many more? I'd kind of rather stay here now if I can. She said, leaning against the wall and hugging herself.

If there were more than could be handled quickly she'd leave, but if not, she really wanted to stay here, where she had the...

Remember where I stitched you up before? There aren't any windows, and the walls are reinforced, so's the door for that matter. She said.

11. Korif went over to Leah and wrapped his arms around her. Don't worry about it. We're getting out of this. I don't know how many more, but I know for a fact these people don't like me. We can't go to your little surgery room, because I don't know how long we'd be in there. If you still want, we can go and see Jaz, but I'm not sure how much good it'll do. He kissed her on the forehead, thinking that it might help to calm her down in some way.

12. I don't really want to see Jaz... knowing my luck she'd still have that plant and be in one of her moods. She said.

Leah folded into Korif, snaking her arms around his waist and resting her head on his chest, able to hear his heart beat soundly. She sighed and closed her eyes.

If only there was a place they wouldn't find us...

13. If only...
Sunnuva... 'ey, mon, y'dere? V's voice broke the silence between Korif and Leah. Completely unmoving, Korif replied.
What's happening, man?
I just be 'avin' some goons bangin' on me door sayin' dat dey gonna murder us bowt if we don't get a-runnin'. One of dose guys... him had a dumb-muscle look in 'is eyes, blud.
You alright?
Aye, mon, I be ahreet. Sent 'em wit dem tail between dey legs after I had a bit a' target practice wit' dat rifle ya got from dat safe. Y'got a real beauty dere, bruddah.
Korif chuckled. Good to know. See you soon, man. Don't be a stranger.
Who, me? Naaah.
The thief looked down at Leah. I've got to go... need to be there in case those guys come back with help... come with me, even if it is only for a few hours. He just wanted to put his mind at ease by being convinced that Leah was alright. She looked a bit shaken, and Korif's voice and now slight tremble was just making things for him worse.

14. Leah looked up at him, the smallest of smiles on her face. Her eyes softened and she ran the backs of her fingers down the left side of Korif's face.

You couldn't have kept me here if you tried. She said quietly.

With one hand on the side of his face, she went up on her toes a little bit and kissed him like she had before. They couldn't exactly pick up where they'd left off at the moment, but still.

15. Korif smiled as they kissed. C'mon, then. We'd best be off before the light arrives. He got the door for Leah and thought to himself She never answered my question on the whole grabbing-her-pants-but-still-being-a-gentleman thing- oh, hell... He'd forgotten to raise that sodding mind barrier again. He could only hope that she wasn't paying attention to what was being said in his head.

16. Gee I don't know... let's see, you made sure I didn't fall over in an alley when I couldn't think straight, sheilded me from bullets and now you're taking my affliction into consideration... You could probably get away with it. She said in responce to his thought, grinning.

She took a key from her back pocket and locked the door, not that it would matter if someone really wanted to get in to the flat, just out of habit. Then she looked over her shoulder at Korif.

So where're we headed?

17. V's. He could be in a little worry, at the moment. Oh, and thank you. I'll be sure to remember that. he winked. But who said I never took your affliction into consideration before? I'm slightly offended, actually. He feigned upset as he followed Leah out. He wonder whether or not he really should actually take advantage of Leah's not-currently-minding.

18. I was just adding it on at the end because- oh I don't know, you cared before, but you're making more of a point of it now, there you go. She said in mock frustraition.

They passed the skink at the front desk, Leah nodded to him and mentioned something about psychos trying to kill her when she was getting ready to sleep. It wasn't the truth, but lying was one of her trades, so it could only be expected. He nodded, things like these worked themselves out just fine, thanks to insurance policies when you were a vamp.

19. Oh, right. Korif sniggered. He started off down the street, anxious to get to V's so Leah wouldn't end up dusted and to see if Viriathos was actually alright. The man had a habit of understating things. A gunshot wound? Nah, mon, iss jus' a knick. Shrapnel in the face? Lil' burn, blud. Bad as a stray spark from a fryin' pan. He sighed and put his arm around Leah, absent-mindedly running through more situations in his head.

20. She laughed in regaurds to a few situations playing over in Korif's mind, before taking her mental presence out, seeing as how the road had disappeared.

Leah put an arm around his waist as an almost automatic responce to his are around her. She smiled, her thoughts becoming rather eclectic and utterly random.

Today, I will sleep... She said, blaming the thoughts on her lack of sleep she'd experienced that was now only catching up to her.
