Magi Lake... Faedra whispered, storing the name in her memory along with Dreed's name. Abruptly she rose to her paws and padded to the water's edge. She lapped up a few mouthfuls of water and swallowed them, savouring the sweet clear taste. Then the ebony and silver female stared down at her reflection, wondering briefly how her appearance faired. She had never compared herself with another female, and until now had never wondered how pretty she was. Inwardly she shrugged off the curiosity, and decided she didn't really care. The concept of beauty was somewhat unfamiliar to her, after spending most of her life on her own. She returned to Dreed's side and flopped down gracefully, resting her head in her paws. She glanced to the side at her companion. May I ask what profession you were talking about? she inquired.
Lifts his head slightly and watched as hse walked over toe the edge of the pool then leaning down to get a drink. Smirks lightly at her then turns his eyes away as she comes back over and drops down along side him. Dreed glares slightly at the ground then looks back over at Faedra as she asks of his profession. Grins and licks his lips a bit looking back out at the lake slowly. "Well, it be of the hired...hitman catagory. I simply help people chage their minds...or cause them to never think again." Sighs lightly and shakes his head slowly thinking that she would end up feeling freaked over it all and treat him as if he was some kind of monterous being.
Faedra frowned slightly, unsure what her friend meant. Hitman category? What's a hitman? Forgive my ignorance, Dreed, she said uncomfortably, but what exactly is a 'hitman'? I am...not so sure what that term means... Not for the first time, the young female cursed her lack of knowledge of her own people.
Dreed smirks lightly and looks over at her as she asks him of a short discription about what a hitman was. Runs his plaw along the ground slowly, moving sand in the way that his hands flowed then stopped. "I'm paid by others to do jobs. And those jobs involve me hurting other pendragons in the process, sometimes even kill them." Shiver slightly at the sudden word of killing then shakes it off.
Faedra, not suprisingly, did not seem very alarmed by Dreed's explanation. After all, a job was a job. Some pendragons deserved it, she supposed. He probably had good business doing so. She nodded slowly and watched him drag his paw through the sand. It may not be pleasant, but somebody has to do it, she said sensibly. I don't suppose very many pendragons are comfortable with that. She wondered suddenly what sort of job she would be good for...but no matter. There would be time to contemplate such a thing later. The young pendragons rolled onto her back to look at the sky, but stayed close enough to Dreed to converse at a comfortable distance. She glanced up at him and imagined what sort of lonely life he must have led.
Dreed nods a bit and draws his paw back from the ground slowly. Sighs and closes his eyes a bit looking over at her unworried face. Smirks and turns his eyes away from her. "I suppose you're right...", Dreed spoke with a small grin upon his face but it melts away as he tihnks back to being all alone for all that time without anyone there to really talk to, or even mess around with. Shakes the though from his head then leans his head back a bit in the wind as it blows through his mane.
Faedra smiled softly to herself as a comfortable silence fell between them. She didn't feel pressured to speak right away, and for a moment she chose just to revel in the presence of a companion. Solitude was ill suited to a young pendragon, but she had dealt with it very well. By nature she was quiet and more reserved than most youths. Perhaps that was the reason why she felt at ease when talking with an older pendragon. Her two-toned eyes took in the sight of Dreed once more, and landed on his wings. Immediately she was curious again. What's it like to fly? she asked, keeping her eyes on his wings.
Grins slightly at her sudden question about what it is like to fly then Dreed throws out his fleshy wings that looked like a bat's wings. Flexes them into the blowing wind and catches some of it then flaps once forcing the wind back the other direction. Sighs softly and folds his wings back down against his back genlty then closes his eyes. "It is kind of like...swimming. Because you are surrounded by a invisable pocket of air that just holds you there in spended animation. Just like floating on the surface of water." Turns his eyes to her and smirks lightly. "Why, do you want to go for a ride or something?" Slides his flamed tail along the ground a bit, looking to her.
Faedra watched with delight as Dreed unfurled his batlike wings, billowing in the air. She felt a stab of regret at being trapped on the ground forever, but even so she was glad that Dreed had given her the demonstration. His description gave her a sense of peace, though. Next time she went swimming, perhaps she could close her eyes and imagine... His question startled her. She blinked at him for a moment, almost unsure whether or not she had actually heard it. When he still looked at her expectantly, she managed to stammer out an answer. M-me? Go for a ride? How i-is that possible?
He smirked and laughed aloud turning his head back into the wind. Shakes his head slowly then looks back down at her for a short moment, thinking to himself if he would really want to show this female what it is like to be so high in the sky. Licks his lips slowly then looked away towards the lake once more. "Well, I can carry you with the help of my arms and you holding on to me. Yeah it would be possible." Clsoes his eyes slightly as another breeze comes over the area and caresses him once more.
Faedra opened and closed her mouth repeatedly. When she managed to compose herself (somewhat), she lay her paw gently over Dreed's and stared deeply into his eyes, searching for any signs of mock or jest. At last, she seemed convinced, and a huge smile broke over her features. Dreed, I...Well, if it's not too much trouble...I would be honoured, she breathed, her eyes shining.
Grinned softly at her in return as he reaches his other paw up touching it to the side of her face gently. Nods slowly then rises up to his feet, shaking his fur for a short moment then stands up on his hindlegs. Extends his arms out to her as he done so. "Well, comeon then my lady of honor. I will give you a trip that you'll never forget." He continued to grin down upon her awaiting.
Without hesitation, Faedra scrambled up to her feet and took Dreed's hands with both her own. She gazed into his eyes, trembling with eager excitement. Her cheek was still warm from when he had gently touched it. She had never flown before...she tried to imagine it in the brief moment before they took flight.
Dreed spreads his wings widely then takes one of his hands back from hers and lifts her up by the legs. "Here we go!" Bends her legs slightly then blasts up off the ground, catching wind beneath his wings. Growls in excitement then flaps his wings greatly soaring up into the skies. Looks down upon her as he continues to assend higher into the skies above. Stops just below the cloudline and looks down upon her floating there in the blanket of air. "Is this everything that you hoped for my dear, Faedra?" Turns his eyes back down upon her as she looks about.
The moment her paws left the ground...the moment Dreed's wings began to pump, Faedra cried out with immediate delight. She gasped as he manoeuvered her into a different position and held on around his neck tightly. She was afraid to look down but even more afraid to close her eyes. The young female wanted to see everything. She wanted to see the ground disappearing beneath her. She wanted to feel the clouds brush against her fur. She began laughing, turning her face to look in every direction. The sight that met her was breathtaking. The world lay around her like a giant display of art. She had never felt so exhilarated. I'm flying! she cried joyfully, turning to look at Dreed with an enormous grin on her face. Oh, Dreed, it's everything I had hoped for and more! Then, on complete impulse, Faedra leaned up and planted a hasty lick on Dreed's cheek, too overwhelmed with happiness to articulate her gratitude in words.
Dreed smirked softly at the display of Faedra's emotion and expression. Liks his lips lightly and wagged his tail a bit looking out away from her into the direction of the sunset. "I'm glad that I was able to please you in more ways then I could have ever imagined. Your welcome...", he spoke to her with a grin upon his lips. But just as he stared out at the sunset a soft, kind of touch came to his face suddenly causing him to break look upon the sunset then look down at Faedra. Grins softly and nods to her as she continues to look about the place.
It didn't occur to Faedra that she should feel awkward or embarassed after her gesture of affection. She smiled up at Dreed, gradually overcoming her slight nervousness about heights. Afterall, she was much too excited to be really afraid. She knew instinctively that Dreed wouldn't drop her anyway. You're so lucky, she told him, gazing up at the sky wondrously, to experience all this every time you spread your wings...
Chuckles lightly and looks down upon her as he flaps his wings once more then looks down upon her as she spoke of him being so lucky and grinned. Licked his lips lightly and leans forward dropping down from the skies slowly into a glide, taking her over the lands that hung below them. Turns his head up towards the skies and looked to the blanket of clouds that covered them then back down to her as he carried her out over the vase lands below and beyond. "Well, I really don't see what is so lucky about being able to take flight and everything. Sometimes I think of it as a handicap...going over some places that flight isn't worth it." Notices off in the distances a place for landing then he grinned lightly dropping down out of the skies slowly. Turning his body up to where his feet touch to the ground gently with light steps and comes to a stop. Places her down upon the slightly cooled ground that was up so high then turns his eyes back to the sun noticing that it was gone. Sighs softly and places his hands on his hips looking out over the land from up high, watching the small emitents of light come from vegetation. Licks his lips a bit then looks back to Faedra out the corner of his eye. "Well my dear, it seems that we be bound here upon this cliff until the next morning breaks. Sorry we couldn't have returned to the lake as I was hoping to earlier." Folds his wings back and walks over to her sliding his hand along her cheek gently then draws it back going over to a smoothed out rock and leans back against it sitting down.
Faedra gasped as they came to a landing on the cliff. It felt so strange to be still and grounded after the weightless feeling of soaring amidst the clouds. Almost wistfully, she smiled at Dreed and let her bicoloured eyes take in the sight of his wings once again. I can't thank you enough, Dreed. It was...amazing. I can't see how you find it a handicap, but I suppose if I were in your place, I might think the same way, she told him understandingly. His last comment didn't phase her. She shrugged and crouched low on the ground next to him, feeling her fur bristle slightly with modest embarassment when he touched her cheek. Who knew that such a large male could be so gentle? I don't mind the wait, she said casually, reaching up to unbraid her silver hair. At the end of the day she liked to have it loose and flowing. I have nothing better to do.
Looks over to her as she sits down along side him and begins to lets down her hair. Licks his lips slightly and relaxes back against the rock, stares up towards the sky for a short moment and sighs. Extends his wing out and places it about her, pulling her over along side him then he places his arm about her. "You seemed to enjoy yourself more then I expected. Which that makes me happy to see that you was have a good time." Grins a bit then lowers his eyes down upon her looking to her as she continued to undo her hair. Leans his head back into an on coming wind that blows over the cliff and back, cause some loose pieces of shell to blow back along with it.
