She shrugged. I don't know. Maybe some day. she said watching a blade of grass. I just hope they will not reject me for what I am now, she thought. She had considered going back home, but had always thought against it at the last second. Qutnema didn't want to see them. Not now anyway.
You got a place to stay, right? he asked. I know it ain't my business to tell you, but you should go back 'fore anything happens... He got up, dusted some leaves off his pants. Then he turned to look at the femme. A questioning look on his face, wondering if she was to go now too. Unknown to both of them, danger was lurking near...
Qutnema jumped off the rock and landed across from him. I'll be fine. I'm able to take care of myself even though I may not look like I can. She walked away from him and into the woods, the want to distance herself from him was weakening as the pulse of his blood became fainter. Her need for the blood of other 'dragons became stronger everyday and she had to hunt for bigger creatures to sustance her appetite. She didn't want to hurt anyone, let alone kill them. Sighing, Qutnema walked farther into the woods her senses picking up the heartbeats of smaller creatures and a few medium sized ones also. Once she had found big enough prey she headed in that direction. When she had walked a little ways, being as silent as she could possibly be, her eyes locked on the creature she was hunting. Before the creature could react to her prescense she was already on it and digging her fangs into it's flesh. The copper taste of blood filled her mouth as she drank, her grip on the creature tightening.
Heavy breathing suddenly grew silent as the creature smelled a pendragon nearby. It followed her as she stepped in his territory. It silently moved, careful not to make a single noise. It stomach growled, waiting to be fed. It watched her make her kill. And soon you'd be my kill... it thought to itself. Once she'd had her back to it, it swiftly move toward her. It's claws were out and ready and his teeth ready to sink into meat. ----------------------- Juem watched as the familiar yet still a stranger thill walked into the forest, full moon shining its light for the dark. He was about to leave when he sensed another being other than the two in the area. Curious, he went to investigate. It took quite a distance before he came to find a shadow stalking the thill. The dark femme was crouched on the ground and Juem couldn't see what she was doing. Then, it emerged from the shadows. A huge beast around 7 feet, claws that looked razor sharp and it's maw was wide open, letting saliva drip to the ground. It took the shape of a werewolf. In fact, Juem don't doubt it was one. It moved so fast and Juem knew he couldn't get to the thill before it does. You! Hey you! Move! Juem shouted. The beast stopped momentarily, searching around wildly with blood-red eyes for the one who had interupted its hunt. Soon, it spotted Juem. Then it just stood there, trying to make up its mind on which to kill.
Qutnema growled deep in her throat as she drained the last of her preys blood. She turned to the creature that was about to attack her, dull eyes blank as she stared at it. She felt the hate radiating from it. What do you want creature?
The beast turned towards Qutnema when she sounded out. His stomach was growling and he wanted the meat he'd been searching for a long time. He gave out a snarl and then quite a long howl before it walked closer to the thill. ________ Juem quickly ran towards the scene. Hey why don't you move? That beast is going to eat you! The beast this time didn't heed Juem's interuption and kept walking, dripping its thick saliva on the floor. Juem spotted a broken branch nearby and with a wave of his hand, the branch lifted from the ground. He motioned for the branch to move and it whacked the werewolf on its head. Lady, run! The beast growled hatred and smacked the branch away, snapping it into two. Then it changed its mind and headed quickly for Juem.
She smirked. This creature was just pathetic. Retreating into the shadows she ran along the area, collecting vines she found on the forest bedding and trees. When she had enough she returned to where the beast and Juem were. She climbed up nearby tree and perched herself on a sterdy limb. Qutnema tied several vines into a laso so it was sterdy enough to hold. She jumped down from the limb and charged at the werewolf. She ran up its back and put the kaso around its neck and pulled on it. She ran back to the tree she was perched on before and wrapped the vine around the tree trunk and ran to another one, wrapping the vines around this trunk too. She repeated this seven more times, securing them to the last tree, before taking the remaining vines and tieing them to the creatures wrists and waist to keep it from lashing out at her. She looked back at Juem then to the creature. Are you able to speak?
Juem did a little fight with the werewolf while Qut went to get some stuff. Fortunately, Qut came in time before Juem got hurt. The beast snarled at the femme. Let... me... go Nope, buddy. You need to stay here 'till morning. You might hurt some other people. Juem said.
The beast snarled another time. He struggled, tugged and pulled trying to get out from his bind. I need to feed a family...Now let me go! he shouted. Then he tried snapping at the vines but to no avail. Juem looked at Qutnema then back to the beast. How long hasn't your family eaten? 2 days the beast snarled. Then they can wait. Werewolves are tough. They can survive. We'll let you go when it's dawn.
Qutnema looked the werewolf right into his eyes. She was getting a little irritated with all this, but didn't voice it. The fact that she had been the one being hunted also was getting her peeved. If you needed food then why hunt something that will fight back with a vengence?
There are not many who pass by here... I'm just taking what comes. But I didn't expect you to be a vampire... The beast said. Juem looked curiously over at Qut. A vampire?!
She frowned, her ears flattening to her skull. Next time check. Your family wouldn't want you getting killed. Qutnema went over to every tree she had used to support the vines and began to cut them. When she was through she sat down at the base of the last tree. If your family is still in need of food it's that way. She said, pointing behind her. I would hurry if I were you. It might run away.
The beast gave a hateful glance at Qutnema before grunting and hurrying away to the direction that she'd pointed. His footsteps were soon faded into the distance and Juem suddenly felt a little uncomfortable. After all, who would be comfy with a known vampire standing right in front? Is that true? You're a vampire? he asked blunty.
Qutnema rolled her eyes. What do you think? And why do you care. A few minutes ago I was normal. Now the though of me being a vampire unnerves you. She shook her head before streching her legs out.
No, it's not that. I... Let's just say I have bad experiences. Juem wanted to squirm but then decided to just hide it. Not that anything was wrong with this femme. Just that vampires freaks him out. He looked at her. Wow, he really miss his ex. But that was past and he'd promised himself he wouldn't look back. But the sight of her... He cleared his throat. Well, it looks like you don't need my help much. Guess I'm to head home. He took a step back but then remembered something. I'm Juem, by the way. He paused and waited for her respond or her non-respond. See you sometime. Then he turned and walked into the dark.
She snorted in the back of her throat. She really didn't care if he left or not, but the mortal part of her --what was left anyway-- ached for someone to talk to. Qutnema stood and headed in the direction opposite to where he left and aimlessly walked, random thoughts coursing through her mind.
