Notek went up to the microphone and started the first song. <span style='color:blue'>To make sure the two of us meet, I cast a spell Our hands are gently touching, and then you look at me and smile We pretend not to realize how we really feel And suddenly, we fell in love Let Me Be With You Let Me Be With You Let Me Be With You I want to hold you tight Until now, unable to say it, I've just been hiding it I'm only acting strong, that's all it is, please see through it Just wait five more minutes until we can meet And after that we fell in love Let Me Be With You Let Me Be With You Let Me Be With You I just want to cry When we let go our joined hands It makes me uneasy It makes me uneasy Let Me Be With You Let Me Be With You Let Me Be With You I just want to hold you I just want to hold you</span>
Cordi grinned sadisticly at Tash, and suddenly her ears perked at the sound of singing. "Oooo-hooo." she said to him. "yes you will. You will dance, or else be left behind and trampled by people" She giggled a bit, and looked sideways at him.
Dewlap saw Socho "<span style='color:purple'>Oh lord not him</span>" she said reluctently. Zeypher looked at Dewlap and wonder, on seeing Socho he knew her problem. Dewlap didn't want this minor problem to ruin her night, the song had a good beat. She was dancing before she could blink, because she loved to dance. When Notek finished the song she sighed, she had studied the songs and knew they were going to do her favourite song.
"I.. do not mind being trampled... Besides.. I have.. means.. of.. avoiding.. such.." Tash informed her, his voice getting a bit squeaky on the last word. He was never so scared of dancing before. Why was he so scared this time? Urgh. This was confusing him very much. Cordi had to be enjoying this. Curse her again! He vowed to get her back. He usually never tried to get her back but ooohh. He vowed this time. She would rue the day! RUE!! This time, he meant it! Tash took another step back. The flame on his tail got noticeably larger as his worry grew.
Quen smirked and nodded as Magnus informed him that there would be items of interrest. In fact, he did have a good sum of money tucked away for things such as this. He kept a large percentage of his pay for his collecting. He didn't have to pay for living expenses, what with living in his office. He was a very valued member of his organization, and was treated accordingly. He was also a very froogle 'dragon, and ended up gaining a decent stockpile of cash for his more expensive pleasures. He took a deep drink from his glass, finishing what little had been left. With a sigh he placed it on a moving tray as a small arden bustled by. He had noticed a bit of fronimic energy floating from each of the servants, noting they must be younger apprentices at the hall. He snickers, "Excellent work with the students as servers. Must save you a fortune on catering." As the music began filling the hall and the 'dragons began pairing up to dance, he shifted his position slightly. He hoped no one asked him to go on to the dance floor, as he had two left feet, something a few of his co-workers had made fun of him for at the last staff party.
Notek started the next song, liking the reaction she got. <span style='color:blue'>my immortal i'm so tired of being here suppressed by all of my childish fears and if you have to leave i wish that you would just leave because your presence still lingers here and it won't leave me alone these wounds won't seem to heal this pain is just too real there's just too much that time cannot erase when you cried i'd wipe away all of your tears when you'd scream i'd fight away all of your fears and i've held your hand through all of these years but you still have all of me you used to captivate me by your resonating light but now i'm bound by the life you left behind your face it haunts my once pleasant dreams your voice it chased away all the sanity in me these wounds won't seem to heal this pain is just too real there's just too much that time cannot erase when you cried i'd wipe away all of your tears when you'd scream i'd fight away all of your fears and i've held your hand through all of these years but you still have all of me i've tried so hard to tell myself that you're gone and though you're still with me i've been alone all along</span>
Cordi smiled. She grabbed Tash's hand, and dragged him off to a small part of the dance floor. "<span style='color:orange'>You don't want to dance? I'll teach you."</span> She told him, and then continued "<span style='color:orange'>Take one step that way"</span> She pointed to the left, still grinning sadisticly.
"But.. I.. don't really.. want to.." Tash complained in a surprisingly whiney voice as he just stood there looking at her, obviously having no intention of taking a step that way. The tip of his tail twitched nervously as her further mentally cursed himself for coming up with coming to this ball. So this was why he normally kept all his brilliant ideas to himself...
Khuyt grunted. He had just tried to lean back, and something had popped in his neck. Guess not everything could be fixed with magic, especially not with Chaos Magic. As destructive as it was, it couldn't heal, mend, or put anything back together. There was always a price... He stood up, stiffening his back, and made his way over to the bar, where he found Ulaz waiting with a bottle of wine. "Good evening so far?" Came the polite greeting, and then the clink of a wine glass being set down beside the bottle of wine, almost asking to be filled.
Magnus broke his conversation with Quen for a small moment, he needed to announce something that would help the action keep going in the party. He found little mini events helped break the ice and encourage people to mingle out side their social circle more. He brought on hand up to his mask and cleared his throat with a single cough. "Ladies and gentlemen, it is my pleasure to announce that when the next song begins a dancing competition will begin. You can dance on your own or in a pair, all you need to do is be on the dance floor and just do what you normally do. When the song ends I will pick out a winner or winning pair. And of course there will be a prize, so good luck and happy dancing." he said not loudly yet his vice projecting across the room perfectly. He was used to talking to an entire hall of people so this was easy, he turned back to Quen and smiled again. Tying to regain the conversation. "Oh yes where was I, I believe we were talking about your interest in certain items." he said smoothly. He was also partially paying ore attention to the surroundings, making sure their was a decent amount of interest in the competition other wise it would really be un fortunate and very uncomfortable. He silently prayed that the people saw it as just a bit of fun. Instead of worrying to much though he focues back on Quen.
Dewlap began to think about something. Nothing in particular, but something. She draped her arms over her knees. It wasn't quite what she expected here. There wern't as many people, and they were only in pairs talking to each other. She thrummed her fingers against the floor in a bored manner, not noticing the stares she was recieving. Zeypher was looking around, then he walked over to where Khuyt was standing and said "<span style='color:yellow'>Hi, how are you doing today?</span>"
Sohco still stared at Dewlap. You've gotta be flippin' kidding me he thought. Magnus' announcement tore his face away from Dewlap. Kataari was looking at him with a worried sort of look. <span style='color:gold'>I'm fine. I swear.</span> Notek gaped at Magnus. Her invitation said NOTHING about a dance contest. <span style='color:blue'>Guys, just play some music for a bit, k?</span> she said to the band and ran to catch up with Magnus. Ignoring the 'dragon he was talking to, she grabbed his arm. <span style='color:blue'>Look, you said NOTHING about a dance contest. I prepared good songs, but nothing they can dance to. What the hell do you expect me to do?</span> By now she was really freaking out.
Just as Quen was about to talk, some random thill ran up to him and Magnus, pulling the elder arden off to the side. He shoved one hand down into his pants pocket and shifted his weight slightly onto one foot, his tailtip twitching irritably. "Well, that was indeed rude." He grumbled, half to himself, and half to the interlopper. He was just about to let Magnus know about his extensive collection of new and old clockwork items (not an idle boast in the least, his living area was always clicking from one thing or another). Instead of saying more, he just shook his head. A deft hand plucking another drink from a passing 'dragon with an array of cocktails. He took a sip of the drink, not wanting to take too much at once lest he not be fond of the taste. It was a bitter martini, something he had no real like or dislike for. So, there he stood, one hand in his pocket, the other holding a martini while he watched the two 'dragons converse. Though it seemed more like the vocalist was doing most of the conversing...
<span style='width:100%;font-weight:bold; font-size:10px'>Out of Character</span> <table class='ooc'><tr><td>Dropping out. Sorry.</td></tr></table>
Cordi smiled. "<span style='color:orange'>Too bad. This was YOUR idea, you may as well make good of what you are stuck with</span>" She watched Tash with this piercing stare that would send shivers down someone's spine. It was like "I know your weak" kind of stare.
Magnus frowned very heavily at the singer, he had no idea why she was insisting on being so difficult. He stared at her intently though his mask the whole time, trying to figure out why she was being very awkward. In truth he didnÂ’t understand what the fuss was about. Not only that but she had interrupted his conversation. "Well what am I paying you for, to sing. All you do is sing what your normally sing and people dance to it. Something what they are already doing, but if you are going to make a fuss about it im sure I can find another singer. DidnÂ’t one ask earlier." he said with a cold stare. He wasnÂ’t in the mood to play games with some insecure singer who thought you couldnÂ’t slow dance to her songs. He wasnÂ’t repaired to let some one ruin this night, he had worked far to hard to let any one get in his way. "Or maybe the band want to play something danceable. So please just sing what you were going to sing and donÂ’t make trouble, if its a real problem then leave and you still get full pay but I donÂ’t see why you cant just let the people carry on dancing. they were dancing to the last one after all, this next one is just judged." he said slightly more tiredly.
Notek stared at him as if he had slapped her. How could he even THINK about replacing her? She walked back to the stage and spoke. <span style='color:blue'>Everyone, we're just gonna take a 10 minute break. As soon as we're done we'll start the dance contest.</span> she stared at Magnus while she said that. A collective Awww swept through the ballroom. As soon as she walked offstage, she sprinted towards the van where all her music was kept. She rifled through papers quickly, thoughts flying through her head. Suddenly she stopped. Looking back up at her were the words DO YOU BELIEVE IN MAGIC. <span style='color:blue'>Perfect.</span>
Character; Miikana Zareh - Miikana glided in, the ends of her pale gold dress flowing swiftly behind her. She glanced around, a smile tugging at the corner of her mouth. It was beautiful here, nodding in approval she walked swiftly over to a table and sat down.
Tash's gaze diverted further from Cordi. "Fiine.." He finally whined after a silence that seemed to have lasted forever. He had given up. Cordi won. Yet.. he continued to merely stand there. Obviously, he had no idea what he was doing. Dancing was a skill Tash Lyfall would never be known for. The flame on his tail seemed to be shrinking as his embarrassment and misery grew.
<span style='width:100%;font-weight:bold; font-size:10px'>Out of Character</span> <table class='ooc'><tr><td>Sorry for being so late. I hate my comp and having to use my roommates</td></tr></table> Who: Chzyuak Chzyuak knew she was running late but, really didn't care. She felt herself glowing because of the dress she had found. The dress was taller than her, causing to her to have to float. It is a long blue, and velvet. She calmly floated inside the building and seen Magnus immediately. She thought to herself, <span style='color:green'>He looks great tonight but, I wonder if....No! I will not let that be the base of my thoughts tonight</span>. She floated towards Magnus and smiled. "Good evening Magnus. I am not meaning to interupt I just wanted to say hello." Chzyuak accepted a glass of wine, took a sip and looked around at the other dragons, as she listened to the music.
