In response to Moren's question Muerrin gestures to a table in the coner by one of the windows in which the sun is streaming though. "Ok, That looks good." Moren says in replay with an every broading smile on his face, and he walked over, and sat down, Muerrin sitting down just after him. His white robe seems to glow in the bright sun that is coming from inbetween two buildings in the square, and is only broken by the passers by that walk by ever so offten. Moren looked out onto the square for a moment and saw that it was starting to quite down for the moment. Many of the venders heading off to do thier own shopping. Many part of the Market did this though out the day as traffic to each part of the market became slow. Moren looked back to Muerrin and smiled. "So tell me, if you don't mind me asking, what all do you do in your line of work?"
"It's all really quite complicated," Muerrin said with a wave of her hand, as if to dismiss the question. Placing her folded arms on the table and leaning forward, she continued, "I basically work in a laboratory, developing drugs for a major pharmaceutical company. Nothing terribly interesting, except that I get to play with mice," she giggled quietly. "So how about healing? What does your job entail?"
Moren listened to Muerrin's dismisale of her trade and gave a short laugh. She then asked about his trade. "Well..." Moren started, "I wouldn't say its not as much of a job, as it is a way of life. See I've been doing this for 6 years so far. Its..." Moren pasued and thought a moment, "its more of the idea that I travel around, and help people, and living things where I can. See I have been traveling the world for 6 years too, and it wasn't as easy as it is now, I didn't have the money then. I just started learning stories to tell, that was my main income, telling stories. I then started healing the way my mother showed when I saw a travel mate die bcause of an infection, that I could have stoped." Moren stop and looked out the window, saying a short pary under his breath. He then took a deep breath. "But it has gone well so far, I'm not bad off from money. I have a lot of good freinds, and life has been good to me. I guess that is why lots of people don't like what I do, cause I don't go home in the eveing. My home is where I'm sleeping that night." Moren looked out the window again after he finnished, not knowing what Muerrin would say, but afraid she would recjet him too. That would kind of hurt, he had been getting to like her.
Muerrin didn't exactly know what to say, only curled her long hair around her finger as she listened intently to Moren's tale. It was very brave and noble of him to go into healing because of his late friend, and this hidden fact about the arden made her respect for him grow immensely. Also, she was fascinated by world-travelers; despite transportation technology in the present day and age, Muerrin rarely visited any exotic places. It was one of her fondest dreams to travel like Moren did, destinationless and free. "That's very noble of you, to do what you do... I think it's wonderful. The world always needs a healer. Now, a genetic engineer like myself, who needs me? The world could get along fine without me," she laughed, "but the world could use a couple more of you."
Moren smiled at the first part of Muerrin's response, then the smile faded a little at the second part. "You know you shouldn't that to your self." Moren said, a smothness to his voice that always seem to come out when he told stories and got into this of thing of helping dragons. "genetic engineers are what make it so our world dosen't have birth defects any more, or need to have people die from genetic problems. Its dragons like you that make food that can last even the hardist winter, or the hotist summer. I may be old fashon some times, but I know what is going on around me. What you do makes a big diffence to the world. You may not see it, but it effects every one. Me, I only help a few people at a time. I count my self lucky if I can help but one person in my life time. All the rest of it I count as me having fun." Moren laughed letting out this feeling that he was telling her about. "I have a question for, What part of your job is it that brings joy to your life?"
Muerrin smiled. This question was one of the easy ones, and as she answered, her delight showed in her eyes. It seemed that more than the sun glinted off of her golden irises as she explained her answer, that a spark from within was illuminating them. "Every part of my job brings joy to my life. The closer you look at the world, through a microscope or a study, the more you realize how amazing it is. Take you and me, for example," she said, putting her arm out to touch Moren's hand lightly, then touching her own chest to gesture "we." "Do you know how our bodies function, how we can be conscious and think? It's an unbelievable concept, the thought of random chance and evolution producing the pendragon, a creature so complex that we can think and communicate and create things like art, architecture, society, whole languages, and yes, even science. We are so complex that we can even study ourselves." She paused for a minute to catch her breath. "And it's my job to figure out how we work, and change it. It's my job to make us better, to perfect a race." She blinked, and smiled. "It's blasphemy, but I enjoy it." She laughed. "At least your job doesn't offend the gods, if there are any."
Moren listened and smile form ear to ear. He just loved the joy she showen when explaning this wonderful thing she did and had fun at every day. She made her coment about the gods and Moren brust out laughing. Once in slowed down in his laughing he put his on Muerrin's. "Oh my dear, if there are gods, they are but fools. From what i have seen, heard, felt and knowen in my so far short life time we are on our own. If nothing else, life is our god, and he, or she, could care less what we see as right and wrong." The cook came out, and layed down the two plate in front of them and noded to them. Moren noded back, and then returned to his line of thought. "I know I haven't seen the way life works in the way you have. But I do know it is very complex. But the thing that is always tugging at my mind if how simple is all is on the surface." Moren took a bite of his food, and smiled at the wonderful taste. "Like this food. I know that there are many things that make it tase good to me, what they are I don't know. But its good, and nothing more. I guess it all depends how what we see, and at what level you see things. Tell me, what do you know about how the mind sees thing?" Moren asked as he put an other bit of food in his mouth, enjoying the taste of the sweet nector.
Muerrin frowned as her food was brought out. She enjoyed the delicious smell, the spicy tang of the scent that rose from her curry, but her feeling at the moment was complex. "Knowing too much about perception is a difficult burden, sometimes," she sighed, taking her spoon and stirring the reddish liquid thoughtfully. "For instance, I know this food is actually flavorless. It's made up of tiny particles, each built from flecks of energy: neutrons, protons and electrons. They're absolutely tasteless, but their combination forms a chemical which reacts with receptors on the surface of my tongue, which send an electrical impulse to my brain, which signals to me that the food is spicy. And how can I enjoy food as much as I did before, now that I know it really has no taste? That taste doesn't even exist outside of my brain?" Nevertheless, she raised her spoon and took a sip of her curry, then grinned at Moren. "This is very good," she said ironically with a laugh, giving her dish another stir and sip. "It's easier to just take the world at face value," she told Moren earnestly, "because when you get too far under the surface, it doesn't look like life anymore. It just looks like atoms... just mass and energy."
Moren listened, enjoying his sweet dish. He had never thought about life in that way, its seemed very cold. After Muerrin's comment on how good the food was Moren laughed too, it was kind of ironic. "Life, nothing more than atoms, and what your brain makes of them" Moren thought as it fell quite for a bit when Muerrin finnished talking. "But what dose it matter that it is all just in your mind, its you whole life in your mind. I mean we have our own little worlds, its created the day we are born, and it is destoryed the day we die. I guess you could say that each one of us IS everything. With out your mind, your world. What would all thoughs atoms and such mean. Nothing." Moren took an other bit of grain cake, then used his fork and put some nector on top of it. "I guess I'm coming from the point of view that I want to know more of how it works, so I can work with it more, and help others, and my self change thier worlds for better."
Muerrin put a hand out and gently touched Moren's forehead, her delicate fingers grazing the short fur over his face before recoiling slowly. "Are you real?" she asked dreamily, as if she were deep in concentration. "Am I real? Or are we just figments of each other's imaginations, creations in each other's own personal worlds?" She grinned widely, smile seeming to reach across her face, from horn to horn. She tapped her spoon thoughtfully against the bottom of her bowl of curry. "If you really want to learn how the underlying chemistry of life works, you could be one of my lab assistants," she smiled, "but you'd have to teach me about herbology in return."
Muerrin Reached out, and lightly touched Morens forhead. Her fingers lightly ran though his fur and Moren closed his eyes, it felt good what she was doing. She then slowly pulled her hand a way and asked her first questions. Moren didn't responde and let only the sound of Muerrin tapping her blow with her spoon fill room. She then gave her propasition. Moren took another peice of weat cake, which was cover in the nector and put it into his mouth. He smiled at Muerrin as what she had said hit him. Moren Wiped some nector from his fun around his mouth then spoke. "I think you might have a deal there." Moren's big smile was still on his face, "all I ask is a little money in pay, because I'll be doing lab work rather than story telling." Moren Reached out and touched Muerrin's arm lightly, "What dose it matter if we are both figments in each others minds. As long as we real to each other."
ooc x Sorry about the wait. x_x ic x The idea that Moren should be paid to work in her laboratory was perfectly agreeable to Muerrin. His mere presence would be enough to get him paid, as it would offer an alternative to the company of her stuffy, puffy, busybody coworkers, whose literal-minded demeanors often grated on her nerves. The fact that he was willing to teach her a few things about herbal medicine as well excited her to no end. A smile broke out across her face. "I'm sure I can manage to offer you a small salary," she said warmly. She was surprised to feel the touch of the arden's hand lightly fall on her arm. She quirked an eyebrow at Moren. "If life outside of our thoughts didn't matter, then what would be the reason for studying chemistry?" she asked with a laugh, tossing her head gently so that her long, wavy hair fell in a new arrangement around her face.
Moren Smiled a huge smile when he heard Muerrin agree about the lab work. She then made her last comment and laughed. Moren laughed as well then said, "for the same reason we dance, or I study plants. Mostly because its fun, because it seems to have some use." Moren laughed again. "But you know I think its kind of pointless to think too much on the reson, its a lot more fun just enjoy the moment and be happy with it." Moren Smiled at Muerrin and took another bite of his wheat cake. He smiled at the idea that he was going to have a job, a first in a long time. But thing one might be a fun one.
ooc x *kills self* x_o ic x Muerrin gave the arden another smile, then looked down at her curry. She stirred the red liquid idly, watching the green flecks of various spices swirl round. The level was dropping, and in a couple more spoonfuls her bowl would be empty. She took a sip. Transferring her golden gaze over to Moren's plate, she tried to gauge how much he had left to eat. "When you're finished," she said, pointing with her spoon to indicate the cake and nectar dish, "I could show you to your new workplace. Or you could go about your own way and meet me there, whatever is most convenient for you."
OOC *Puts a jar under Muerrin to cach all the goo coming out* lol IC "I would love to see it" Moren said with a smile. He looked forward to this new venture, and was almost bouncing like a small child. He cut the wheat cake and took a one of the remaining halfs and ran it around the plate, gathering all the last of the nector on the plate. He put this in his mouth and started to chew when a question came to him, but he had to hurriedly work through his food before asking. After he finnished his mouthfull Moren asked he, "So where is this work place located?"
ooc x *gushes* xD; ic x The thill grinned to see her new friend so excited. He seemed to dispatch the remainder of his meal quite hastily, so eager was Moren to see his new workplace. She set her spoon down in her bowl and placed her hands in her lap, lacing her fingers together idly while she waited. When he asked "So where is this work place located?" she nearly jumped in surprise - she had completely forgotten to tell him about the organization that was now employing him! "It's a research facility in Trilok. Neurotech. Very upscale joint-" she laughed, "-they have environments for all sorts of research."
OOC : I like your new avatar, very cool: IC: "Neurotech, humm, sounds upscale" Moren said more to him self than anything as he finnished his last mouth full. "So then I take it they work with Food type plants from the name then. What are we going to be doing there, or at lest what do you do there that I will be assiting with." Moren laughed a bit to him self as he set his fork down on his plate and pushed it up so it was in the center of the table a long with Muerrin's.
ooc x Thanks! :3 ic x Muerrin shook her head quickly, her wavy blong hair resettling once more and her golden earrings tinkling. "Neurotech is not just for the study of plants," she explained with a flourish of her hand, "it's for the study of very nearly all things scientific. Weather, medicine, zoology, everything!" she laughed quietly. "I work in genetics. You will help me prepare chemicals, specimens, and do basic handiwork around the laboratory, if you're up to it," she clarified, flashing Moren a smile.
"OOOOOhhhhhh!" Moren made the noise as the idea became cleare in his mind. This sounded even better, lots of people to talk to there, Moren gave huge grin at this idea. "It sounds like fun! That is an aspect of life that I have never really got to play with." Moren Then got thinking Humm, where am I going to stay while I'm working there? But befor he could form it in to a question to pose to Muerrin the server came over and grabed the two plates. "Fyolp ashaj yma yv iyo leca umi shemd alta?" Asked the server, Moren looked at Muerrin, "I think I'm good, what about You?"
The thill squinted at the server, attempting to decipher his language. Fyolp... aeshaj... she thought to herself slowly, seperating each word and translating them in her head. "Oh!" she said aloud when she finally understood what the arden had said. "My, shumc iyo," she replied slowly and carefully, helping the server collect her bowl and then turning to Moren to give him a self-satisfied grin.
