Lyra quickly got out of the way of the on coming attack then placed herself a fair distance away from the other student. She shot a quick glance toward the new comer while keeping the rest of her attention on her own sparing partner. She saw there own instructor approach her but she didnÂ’t know why because she hadnÂ’t said anything about being here for the class, maybe her knew her. She decided it was none of her business and turn back to her own fight. She jumped in closer to the other, but turn kicking out with her back leg then jumped back as quickly as she could to not get hit by anything else.
Sirius nodded towards the instructor. "All right then," she replied, looking up with a fighting determination in her eyes. "One can never learn too much." She was not used to being the one with the first attack, but then again it should prove to be a learning experience, and that was what she was here for. She leapt forward towards the instructor, teeth bared and her body pointed as though she was going to got for the shoulderblade. In mid-dive however she used her wings to help steer her sharply, and extended her claws towards the instructor's front right leg, just below the knee.
For Persais he grinned and let his mind float free so that his body could take over. The mind can often make you hesistate when you attack so therefore his hard trained body let instinct take over. He watched as the 'dragon seem to fly torwards him in slow motion with the help of her wings that could prove an advantage for Persais had no such wings, he often used powerful leaping kicks to attack those in the air. He ducked to one knee denying the student her attack as he waited for her to close on him then suddenly he rolled sideways, one arm pointing upwards into an Knife Slash that could punture the lungs if used in full might but he was holding back his blows so if it connected it would only be bruises on the 'dragons body. clever child swapping attacks mid way hmmm maybe she might be one of my most attentive students
Sirius smiled to herself, as she saw him dodge her attack. There was no doubt as to this fighter's skills. She saw the blade as it reached towards her and knowing that if she tried to pull back it would only meet her half way she pulled towards the instructor, in front of him, to where the blade struck but only enough to draw a thin line of brusing. It hurt, but not enough to disctract her from the battle. So now though she as right back where she started, but that did not bother Sirius quite yet. She ran towards him, and when she was close enough jumped towards him, shifting her weight to where she moved closer to the instructor's flank and she lashed out with her solid tail.
He watched as tried to strike him down with an flying kick, but the balance was wrong because if you lash out with your tail it would pull you to one side and is more likely to fall and hurt yourself if you use both of those. He stepped back and rested his weight on the back of his leg so that he could free up his front leg.An friendly smile formed as his front leg striked out with an amazing accuracy as he tried to hook the inside of his sole to trap the students leg and bring her down with this effective counter attack that was risky if not learned properly. If it worked he would step closer to the student on the ground and brings his hand in the Eagle Beak strike across the chest that could kill you if the person attacking you had heavy calloused hand and amazing strength.
Katrina hadn't been expecting Lyra to pull that move in mid-air. She recived the blow, hitting her shoulder as she whipped out her tail-blade at top speed, slightly annoyed that she let a textbook strategey get the best of her. Again, she used her lanky build as an advantage, lashing out at her sparring partner from just far enough away, moving towards her as she did so in hopes of putting her on the defensive.
Lyra pulled up her front legs moving them out of the way just in time before she was hit. With that she was force to balance on just her hind legs. This was a trough task and she soon lots her balance. She feel side ways just catching herself on all fours. She then quickly got herself back into a fighting stance not wanting to get caught off guard. She started to flap her big dragon like wings. Not to get her off the ground but to bring up some dust and try to confuse the other. She decided to wait to let the dust clear just a little then she would try and attack again. Hoping to catch her off guard.
Sirius frowned as her attack did failed miserably. But that was the thing about attacks and all, they worked fine against a tree and all but you could not test them accuratly until you were against a live opponent. Trial and error, that was how to learn. Her eyes widened with surprise as she saw the instructo's leg move with an amazing speed and accuracy. She arched herself up, using her slightly leaner feminine build to her advantage. But either way the spped was amazing, and although not brought down completely she was thrown off balance for a second or two, and she knew that in a battle like this that few seconds might be very critical, especially considering the fact she was completely on the ground for that moment or two. She regathered her scattered thoughts and blance as quick as she could, lashing out with her tail as a simple defense mechanism.
Persais ignored the tail lash because it does not really work in an battle except to confuse your opponent but he was not confused and let it sting him leaving an bright red mark across his lower chest. He could not grab or pull the tail in anyway for it would cause incrediable agony for the student so he ducked and stepped closer within an few seconds before he struck out with the Eagle Beak strike that went on its fatal path which would bring the student death but before it even touched her chest it changed path and his hand harshly tapped the 'dragon on her nose. "you are now dead" whispered Persais softly "TIme to stop now children" he shouted in an gruff voice, "Let us all sit and mediate on the possible outcome of the fight,on the many ways it could have gone if you moved that way or this way, whether your opponent would response in your thinking or whether it would have gone your way." He looked around at the 'dragons that were still fighting and waited for them to hear him.
Sirius smiled. "Yeah, I guess I am," she admitted. She had learned a lot in those few brief seconds of heated battle, and wondered what else she could learn from the discussion upon the battles. One thing was for certain though, she would need more practice against live opponents. "Thank you for that opportunity," she said with a nod as she sat down beside him. Her eyes wandered about to the others in the area, and she had to wonder what they had learned as well.
Katrina thought that the little dust cloud was a good stopping point and promptly walked over to where the instructor had suggested she meditate. Kat could not help but think how she would have liked to use Lyra's own diversion against her, to charge through the screen of dust and catch HER off balance. She had to admit, her partner was skilled. She decided to talk to her after the lesson was over. Katrina sat and breathed several deep breaths. Her eyelids slowly closed automatically. She let her mind go through the fight that had just ensued. If she had been a second later on her thrust, if she had leaned left instead of right. Did she really need to use her tail all that often? What if she hadn't skipped breakfast? That reminded her, that and the fact that her stomach gave a loud grumble at that very moment.
Lyra soon got out of her fighting mood and turned back towards the others. She walked over and took a seat thinking about her fight. It could have gone better but then again you never know what youÂ’re opponent could have up there sleeve. And she did have a good opponent. She got into the meditating stage easier this time and soon cleared her mind of all thoughts.
Following the otehrs lead, Sirius cleared the questions running through her head, and ran in her mind the battle from start to finish. It had started off well enough, but as soon as she had tried to use her tail things went horribly wrong. She knew now, that if she was going to use her tail it had better be in moderation, and aimed towards a weaker spot like the back of a joint. Where she had aimed for, the hide, it simply would leave a welt. She saw that it was a good idea to use her wings like she had, and perhaps she should make use of her lean build and agility more as well instead of relying purely on brute strength. Then she realized something else too... the sheer amount of thinking she had been doing during battle. Thinking slowed down the reaction time... perhaos she should have relied a bit more on her instincts. She sat there pondering this, tail flicking back and forth. One thing was for certain however, she still had a long way to go in the art of fighting.
Persais was satisfied with every student skills. They had just an small amount of skills that would be rapidly expending for each timethat they spent in his company learning they Warriors Way. "as we all know there is two types of way of fighting that you will evolve into" He said this firmly for it was important to know who you are and what you will be "They are the Fighter and the Warrior" His expression took on an grave hardness. "lets us compare the essence of the Fighter to the Warrior" he looked around with an piercing eye that seemed to look into your soul " The essence of an Warrior is to train hard in the Warriors Way and purify his soul in the process, the warrior seeks to learn the ways of the Tao and relucanatly seeks out an fight or provokes an fight whereas the Fighter does not have the disclipine to stay on the Tao and the Warriors Way, they seek to show off their skills and try to get in as many fight as possible without any regard for theirselves" He smiled as he looked past the student to the swaying trees past them. Which are you? Warrior or Fighter?
Katrina would have liked to think herself a warrior. Â She wasn't quite there yet, but she thought she would be once she had trained. Â Would she though? Â Of course she would; she didn't like to pick fights and she certainly wasn't a bully. Â Kat's mind was divided between food and pondering the Tao. Â 'I will be the warrior... I wish I had eaten some toast... I will follow the Tao and the teachings of my master... Toast with eggs... Â I will do my best and let myself learn... Man, I could go for a sandwich...' Â She thought all this to herself, trying to stop her stomach from misbehaving. Â Did he expect her to answer aloud? Â She decided to keep silent until the others answered.
Sirius listened to the instructor's words carefully, and it hit home. She had been using the words as one as the same, when in fact they were as different as night and day. Similar but not the same. She knew the answer in her heart and soul. She wanted to be a warrior. She liked helping others, but she would never be able to do so if she did help herself first, to help herself grow and learn. "I want to be a warrior," she said, but she was not certain if she had said it to herself or out loud. She did not know if they were to contemplate the question before them, or to discuss it. She looked to the others, and saw one was watching for reactions as well. Sirius decided to wait however, giving herself a few more moments to formulate her thoughts.
Lyra nodded. She was a warrior, or a least she thought she was. She didnÂ’t go around looking for fights but she had never turned a fight down. All she had ever thought about was training and getting better. Today she had found that there is more to fighting then that. So what ever happens from now on she would have to remember to be the warrior and not the fighter. But she also remain silent if she were to say anything she would loss her train of thought. And she knew that some how the master was able to read there thoughts and feelings in a way unknown to her.
Kat thought to herself for a long while with occasional, I want to be the sandwhi- warrior... Â Why did she have to be such a ditz? Â She would have to work on that part of herself. Â Not to get rid of it completely, it was part of her, just to keep it under control. Â You couldn't fight, keep your concentration, if your enemy mocked your behavior. Â That reminded her, how did she fight? Â It was almost like meditating. Â She was concentrating, yet at the same time everything flowed. Â She did not need to think, but maybe she should do slightly more thinking until the proper sequence of moves that came after an attack or defensive movement became second nature to her.
"Now i want you all to stand up and face me, trap me in an circle, surround me so there is no way out for me" He grinned for they had now came to the multi-fighting part where he teaches how to handle yourself correctly and the specific moves that often helps you out of an sticky situation where its likely you would end up dead. He would now instruct the students of his to attempt to kill him for real. "Now children you all will attempt to kill me, do not worry for no-one truely dies, they rejoin the flow of the Tao that is their nature" He relaxed his weight and let his arms fall at his side where he stood motionless only his eyes flicked here and there judging the students weakness and strengths in an breadth of an second. "now come children, prepare yourself for one of the hardest test that you will face and that is burden of killing an fellow 'dragon, now i want you all to work together and use cunning to try to bring me down" He let out an reassuring smile as he gazed at them.
Katrina stood, pondering his instructions. Â She really did not have a problem with trying to kill him. Â She had a feeling that he would most likely get out of it somehow, without more than a few scratches. Â He was the teacher afterall. Â Teamwork was easy for her. Â She could read an opponent's body movements and she could read an ally's motions just as well. Â ~*~Hey... I'm Kat jus' to let you know. Â What do you say we circle and then pull back after we fake towards him? Â Maybe get him off his guard? Â I could go in first... if that's alright with you two.~*~ She sent this to the others, not letting anything of her plan show in her motion or face.
