She raised her eyebrows as he aunt continued to mumble about something or other. She glanced up and then followed her aunt into the swamps, still glaring at the tmuka.
Miska gave his head a little tilt as he watched Jayde glare at him and slithered up to Incendi, then deciding that she was a bit too scary slithered up Jayde's forarm to perch among her blade hairs.
She stopped short as the tmuka slithered up her forearm. "Why me?" She looked up and realized Incendi had kept moving. She hurried to catch up, conscious of the tmuka presence.
Miska tilted his head and glanced down at Jayde. The reason you, blood relative of incendi, instead of incendi is that she seems... more irratable than usual...
sufficiently so... Incend gave them both a slightly irritated glance "And stop thinking about me behind my back!"
Jayde's eyes widened at Incendi's words. Damn, I'd forgotten about that. A smile crossed her face, thinking back to her earlier song. Incendi is my Auntie, she's really really old...
Incendi's mind blared out AND NO CURSING EITHER DAMMIT! Incendi glanced around, stopping at the foot of a tall tree. "This'll have to do..."
"Hippocrite ((OoC: I don't think i spelled that right))." She said as she looked around. "What are we going to do here?"
Incendi looked up at the vince she had been studying and set it to methodically sway back and forth to and from a branch high in the tree. SHe glanced at her niece "climb up and catch the rope. swing over t that other branch."
Jayde shrugged. Easy enough. She had done been doing that for a few years. She climbed up, trying not to jostle the tmuka around too much. She waited as the vine arched back toward her and grabbed it. She swung over to the other branch, landed gracefully, and let the vine go to continue it's swinging. She looked to Incendi.
*Incendi nodded, keeping the vine swinging at its regular pace "Close your eyes and do it again, twice."
She raised her eyebrows. Eyes closed? She sighed, and watched the vine, getting the timing down. She closed her eyes and reached for the vine. She grabbed it and swung across, barely making it onto the branch. Eyes still closed, she waited for the vine to return. She reached out again, a bit more sure of herself this time. She grabbed the vine and swung back over. She landed just a tad unsteadily. She opened her eyes, and frowned slightly, and looked to Incendi once again.
Incendi nodded "Again." When she saw that her niece's eyes were closed she threw off the timing of the rope, making it just a fraction late.
Her hand was out again and she tried to grab the vine when it should have been there. But her hand closed over empty air. She scowled and held still, listening for any noise. Her scowled deepened when all she could hear was a slight creek, but not enough to tell her where the vine was. She stuck her hand out again, far enough out that she knew the vine would hit it. After a few hits to her hand, she did the required two times across. Her landings were more confident than the last.
"good... now climb back down, again with your eyes closed..." Doing everyday activities blind was a useful teaching aide that incendi had herself been placed through. made the other senses keen. she padded off into the swamp, fading from view but watching her niece carefully.
She smiled. She loved to climb trees, eyes closed or open, it didn't matter. She skirted down the tree in a matter of seconds, and opened her eyes, and looked around. She frowned when she didn't see Incendi. She gave the area another sweep, througher than the last. When she didn't see Incendi again, she sat down. Listening carefully. Where did she go...?
Incendi watched, head tilted in quiet contemplation. she foudn it mildly dissapointing that her niece didn't try to actively hunt her down... perhaps.... Incendi threw a rock off to the side where it rustled against a bush.
Jayde turned to the bush. She didn't think Incendi would be that noisy... even on purpose. Her eyes swept left and right. She still didn't see Incendi. She got up and cautiously made her way toward the bush, keeping alert.
Incendi watched, occasionally invading her nieces thoughts to check out the thought processes. Not too shabby, she had to admit. she silently padded out once Jayde had passed by and followed, waiting for the youngster to notice.
