Jayde landed, turning to face Incendi. She saw the smile and returned it. She stood up and shrugged, her gold eyes finding the ground interesting. "I didn't learn much at the academy, they didn't really like to teach that. So, maybe five, ten?"
Incendi shuddered. only five to ten? that was pitiful! Incendi had known that manyt when she was seven. learning to hunt alone had nearly given her that many... she sighed. "That's all? well... at least tell me what ones you do know."
She continued to look at the ground, her finger tracing odd designs in the mud. "Claws, teeth, stillettos... slip one of those between the base of the skull and the vertebrate... quick, not too messy..." She trailed off, still staring at the ground. She knew it wasn't a lot, and she was slightly ashamed. From Incendi's tone, she knew that it would have been better if she knew more.
Incnedi gave a small nod at the stilletto. after all it was good to be able to use weapons... but she wouldn't stop there. Incendi would first work on her nieces unarmed fighting skills before working up to weapons. "Give me all your wepons. she held out a waiting paw.
Her gold eyes snapped up, landing on the outstretched paw. She pulled out one small dagger and two throwing knives. She placed them in Incendi's paw, and fingered her stillettos, she didn;t really feel comfortable without them. "Can I keep these? I won't use them..."
Incendi narrowed her eyes slightly and remained firm. "You don't need to become any balder... now give them to me."
She undid the sheaths and hesitantly handed over the stillettos, her eyes slightly dulled. She turned away from Incendi slightly, restraining herself from grabbing them back. "What now?"
Incendi turned her back on her niece and walked off to the side, she gave Miska a glance and he slithered out from the undergrowth. Incendi nodded, "Now, you stay alive without killing Miska." The large spitting tmuka reared his head and hissed, tongue flicking in and out as he prepared to strike.
She took a step backwards and eyed the tmuka. "Miska? And i can't kill it? Well, that just sucks." She relaxed, waiting for the tmuka to make the first move, knowing her instincts would kick in before she could think anything through.
Miska hissed, reared his head back and shot out a jet of venom aimed for her eyes. he backed slightly before slithering forward again.
Jayde had moved before she realized it. The venom went by on her right, and she watched as the tmuka slithered back and then forward again. "Why a tmuka," she asked, almost to herself. "Why not something a bit smaller? A little less venom wouldn't be amiss either..."
Incendi shrugged "Miska is the only friend i've got. and he just happens to be a large highly venemous spitting tmuka. its not my fault he was born that way." she smirked. Miska hissed again, rearing his head and watching her through beady eyes as he swayed back and forth, feinting to the left but spitting to the right.
She glared at Incendi slightly, and thought about her next move instead of using her instincts. She moved right. She realized it was a feint, and moved further right, barely keeping it from getting in her eyes. She felt it as it landed on the side of her face. "thes." She glared at the tumka this time.
Miska slithered forward in a sudden burst of speed, lunging for a leg, fangs bared and ready to strike.
She darted to the left, avoiding the tmuka's fangs. The thing was longer than she was, and she wondered if it would tire itself out. She hadn ever had to deal with a tmuka before, and, now, she didn't much care for them. Her elemental scorcery was still rather rusty, and she prefered water as the medium. She gave a mental shrug. Foliage and earth were good ones to use right now. Her eyes glowed softly and she vaguely wondered if the tmuka would feel the slight shifting in the ground.
Incendi tilted her head to watch the feeble magic work. Â yes there wqas definately room for improvement here... but that would have to wait until she could kill competently. Â Miska hissed as a small peddle danced before him and he struck at it in iritation covering it in slick venom as he reared up to realign his sights on Jayde. with another loud hiss he struck but this time he whipped his body forward to entangle his assigned foe in his coils.
She had seen the tmuka strike at the trembling rock, and then saw it rear up. And then he was attacking her again. She didn't have time to move and she winced in pain as the tmuka's fangs peirced through her skin. "Damn," she muttered, her breath already starting to catch.
With a mental cue from Incendi, Miska stopped in his attack, slithering placidly away to bask in a small patch of sunlight. Incendi sighed, shaking her head slightly as she padded forward, antidote already out and in her paws. she sat down and spplied the medicine to the wound and then pulled out a rather bitter tonic "Drink this..." There was much work to be done. But the youngster had lasted for that long against the tmuka. more training would be needed.
She pulled a face as she drank the tonic. "Yuk. That's nasty." She looked at her wounds then mumbles. "God, that sucks." She glares at the tmuka.
Incendi sighed and shook her head "We have much work to do. you think too much some times and not enough other times. you don't trust your instincts when you should and you trust them when you shouldn't. timing... thats what we'll do..." she mumbled on as she began to stalk off deeper int othe swamps, she glanced back to her niece "come on."
