All Kae could remember was lying on the floor, hurt, next to the Aktrieor, wishing she would die. The next time she had opened her eyes, Rachel had been carrying her, and, strangely, all her surroundings were a blur, just like in a dream so that Kae could not tell whether it was real. She must have yet again fallen unconscious for when she opened her eyes again she had heard Nelson say he'd hunt down the Aktrieor. That , she had reasoned, Must have been a dream. One had to be mad to hunt down such a dangerous bird, especially when it was not alone. She was now feeling alittle better though her leg still pained her greatly. She opened her eyes and said, weakly: Where am I ?
Reaching the back way into the cave Rachel looked down on Kae as she continued towards the enterances of the cave. "You are back in the mountains, my dear. Nothing to worry about and Nelson is doing well also." Looks back up as she jumps over a basin in the cave to the other side that had stairs going up. Stops as she gets on the other side of the basin and stops waiting on Nelson to take the leap.
Completely satisfied from his meal, Nelson stood up and followed Rachel. Walking back towards the mountain, Nelson kept his eyes to the sky apprehensively. Those birds would definitely want revenge...so heading back to the cave was a good idea. Safely making it back to the cave, he jumped over the basin to the back of the cave where the staircase was. "What's up there?"
Rachel looked over her shoulder at Nelson as she begin her ascent to the top of them slowly. Holds Kae closer to her chest as she climbs and licks her lips slowly as she goes. "This is the back way into the cave, also it will lead to a lookout tower so that we can get a good look at those flying bastards incase they come to seek revenge." Comes to the top of the stairs and goes into the cave then lies Kae on an animal skin. Draws back from her and walks over to another area of the cave and drops the beast on the ground then drops down beside it holding her side, wincing in pain as she does. "Well, they won't get in here to easy...", closes her eyes slightly and opens them again as they glow red. "Can you look after Kae, while I tend to my own wound." Gets up and walks over to a small pool inside the cave and falls beside it. Reaches her paw into the water and draws it back placing it against the wound.
Nelson smirked as he climbed up the stairs. "They most certainly won't." He looked back to the entrance of the cave one last time as he climbed and felt slightly guilty about killing the bird. At least we can't worry about starving... As Rachel placed Kae on the animal skin, Nelson approached her seemingly lifeless body. He lifted his paw to her cheek and stroked her hair. Gently whispering in her ear, he said, "Kae, you're going to be alright. If you need anything just tell me. I'll get it for you."
Rachel coughed slightly and drawed back from the pool of cool water then falling back to her forepaws and walking like a beast again. Limped her way over to a corner in the cave and lied down against the cave wall looking to Nelson and Kae. "You...really are attached to her...aren't you?" Smiled as she said this then closes her eyes slowly relaxing against the cool cave floor. Licks her lips slowly and winces a bit as an old hunger pain crept back into her mind and body. "If you are looking for medicine, there is some in that long crate beneath the bread and cheese...", opened her red glowing eyes once more and stared blanky at them as they set over away from her on the skins.
Nelson raised an eyebrow at Rachel. He smiled at her and couldn't help but feel himself blush slightly. "Oh, I dunno," he mumbled under his breath, still holding himself back from smiling anymore. He looked back at Kae. "Oh, thanks for telling me that. She'll need something to speed up healing and for energy." He walked to the medicine cabinet and crouched down in front of it, his eyes gazing at the different labels. "Any pain killers?"
"Well, there are a few in there, but be careful with how many you give her. Very strong and just one will be enough to kill any pain." Continues to stare at them as if in a traces then closes her eyes to stop herself from doing it. "Just come over here and gave me a few nudges or something to bring me back to reality if I faint off from my injury...", with that said Rachel turned onto her side away from the two so as not to stare anymore then what she has already. Licks her nose slowly and relaxes against the ground fighting off the pain as she lied there.
Nelson nodded happily as he found a bottle of painkillers. "Alright. Thanks for the help, Rachel, sleep well." He popped the bottle open and dropped one caplet into his paw. He didn't want to bother Rachel anymore, she needed rest. Why didn't she take anything for the pain? He was slightly irked at the thought. He hoped these painkillers were effective..or not lethal or anything. He read over the printed label and felt convinced they were safe. There was no water required, so the blonde male didn't bother looking for a glass and getting any water. He approached Kae again and lifted her chin softly. "Here, take this....It should ease the pain."
Kae nodded weakly, opening her mouth slightly. Thanks... She only just managed to whisper as she swallowed the medcine. Her eyes looked up to him gratefully then closed again. A few seconds later, the pain lessened and soon, she was iasleep.
It was only now, during that peaceful moment, that Nelson realized how tired he was. He yawned and stretched, then curled up in a corner and closed his eyes. Without letting himself fall asleep, he kept his ears listening for anything. So all night, he stayed half-asleep, listening for any vengeful aktrieors. And somehow, he knew they'd be waiting in the morning...
Light from the morning sun shined through a small hole that was only big enough to cast in a glow to luminate the cave. Rachel comes to and looks over at the other two as they continue to sleep. Lifts her head from the cool cave floor and rises to her feet slowly, releasing a slight stretch and the sound of her neck and forelegs popping. Rachel listens as she hears the sound of the silent winds blowing over the mountains greatness. Stands up on her paws and wonders over to the cave enterance, closes her eyes slightly and fades into her cloaking form then wanders out onto the ledge that over looked the grounds below. Looks down towards the grasslands and forest for any movement at all. But a sudden scream came from the skies above as Rachel looks up to them. There on the highest peak in the mountain range sits the Aktrieor, waiting for their moment to skybomb the three of them that resided inside the cave. Upon seeing them, Rachel growled lowly then slipped back into the cave. Torts over to Nelson and Kae where they was lying then brushes her nose up against Nelson's cheek moving his head. "Nelson...wakeup." Looks back over her shoulder at the cave enterance then back to Nelson and pushed on him again. "Comeon!" Rachel cloak dropped the second time she touched Nelson then she wandered back over to the cave enterance and sniffed heavily.
Kae opened her eyes a little as she heard Rachel's voice. Her pain had subsided and was almost insignifiant. She tried to straighten a little and sit up without putting any pressure on her back legs, succeded in doing so and looked at Rachel, puzzled. Hi Rachel. What's up? Kae then proceeded to examining her wounds. She almost cried out chen she saw her paw. The wound was disappearing, it was getting smaller and smaller... Wow, that medecine has got to be efficient. She tried to stand up slowly and gently, putting all her weight on her three other legs. Then she tried to walk. This resulted in er falling because her back right leg, the wounded one, couldn't support her. This also caused the pain to come baack, to much less worse than the previous day. Stupid me ... She muttered, wincing.
Rachel looked over her shoulder at Kae that lied on the bare floor then smirked. "Well, it is good to see you up and active again, but you should've gave that injury of your's at least another 12mins." Rachel shook her head and walked over to where Kae was lying then rose up onto her hindlegs. Kneeled down after she did this then placed her hand on Kae's injuried leg then closed her eyes as she did it. A light blue energy emitted from her hand and begin to mend the injury. Opens her eyes as she continues to heal the wound then looks to Kae. "There was an Aktrieor that was killed yesterday, by Nelson and I. And now that damn bird's relations sit outside the cave, waiting for a chance to get revenge on us for what we did." Draws her hand back from the now healed leg after the energy resided. "No reason to worry about this broken leg of yours any longer." Rachel stands up from the floor and walks over towards the enterances then leans against it, watching those large birds of prey.
Nelson blinked, then rolled over lazily. He hadn't slept well. Facing the wall, he heard Kae and Rachel conversing about the aktrieors, which were, at this moment, plotting revenge, right outside of the cave. He stretched and stood up, yawning. He ripped a chunk off the bird's corpse and sauntered over the the cave's entrance. He immediately noticed the birds, and waved the piece of feathered meat through the air, making sure they saw it. There were three other birds, all about the same size as the one he had killed. He snickered at them, knowing their wingspan was much too large to get them into the cave. He just hoped they wouldn't land here, knowing they were now completely enraged.
Smirked and watched as Nelson taunted the Aktrieor with a piece of their old pal then shakes her head. Licks her lips and looks back to them as they screamed and carried on about the display of disrepect to them. "Good...that's good Nelson, make them angrier so that they would do foolish things." Rachel walked back into the cave then headed to the sceret passage and went up to the tower for a better view of the birds. Comes to the top of the tower and stared at the beast from the silt in the mountain surface making it is to see out of, but not easy to get into from the other side.
Rachel? Do you think they'll be guarding the secret exit aswell? Do you know of any other passages? Kae asked, a hopefull look in the eye. Her head still ached a little and she didn't quite know wether what she had just said had made sense. She looked at her wound again. Not healed, yet. She sighed. My aunt is going to KILL me. she mused. How long had it been since she should have gone to her the Family Reunion? What does that matter, we're probably all going to end up eaten by birds. Her mind clearly wasn't working properly. Stop thinking about such things ... She opened her eyes again, hoping her stupid thoughts would disappear.
Smirks and looks back to Kae as she came back down to the cave floor from her high drop. Stands back up and licks her lips a bit. "Yes, Kae the secret exit is fine, they have no idea of it's existances." Rachel reaches a paw out and pats Kae on the head gently then draws it back turn to Nelson and walks back to him.
Nelson kept laughing at the helpless Aktrieors. "They're so close, and yet so far," he mumbled. He returned into the cave and was glad to see Kae in good shape. His paws tore the feathers off the severed flesh and he dropped them out of the cave. He swallowed it and sat by the entrance. "Ooh, a secret exit? Well, if we want to get out of here, we'll have to use that. I haven't seen it yet. Apparently, Kae has..." Turning his head to look at her, he smirked. Must be how they got out into the ocean the day before yesterday, since I hadn't notice them come out by the main entrance. Shrugging, he asked Rachel if they had any plans for today. Nelson could only hope the birds wouldn't find them.
Upon hearing the question that Nelson asked she laughed and walks back over to the cave enterance then licks her lips slowly. "Well, we have something to do today...if you feel up to getting your paws dirty." Smirks as she looks up towards the birds then drops down onto her hind quarters. Closes her eyes slowly and lowers her head as one of the birds take flight then begins to circle above the mountain. "I have a good feeling about our chances if you will help me with taking down these beast. But I need Kae to do something for me before we attempt anything like that." Opens her eyes and looks over at Kae. Smirks then gets up and wonders back into the cave then walks past Kae to the large crate. Opens the crate and gets into it looking for something.
