"I'd like to see the little Pumpkin and Pale Red Male Cali. I acctually specialize in breeding Calicos." Dade's voice was full of inquiry, along with a good bit of excitment. "I don't really know how much you're looking at in trade for one of yours, though..."
The father of this clutch seemed to be having some trouble with the growing crowd filling their dorm. Mara uncoiled him from around her body and set him in the terarium. She picked up on of the small females in the other cage and let her snake up her arm in the oppisite direction ofher tattoo. Amaranth had a feeling she was getting in the way. She hadn't really done anything but sit here and look content, and watch people walk in. She noticed the bird on the other female's shoulder. <span style='color:orange'>"I like your Flitter."</span> she said smiling.
Stryx slid open the door of the vivairium once again, reaching for the pumpkin male. The small ribbon of scales dart awayfrom his hand, burrpwing into the substrate. Stryx groped around after it, finally snatching a hold of the end of it's tail. He pulled the lively alugha out, slidding the door closed with his elbow. <span style='color:red'>"Here you go." </span>he held the male out to Dade.
Syray looked at the small snakes, trying to find which he would like best. Finaly he turned back to the owner of the snakes. He waited patiently for him to finish talking with Dade and then spoke. "I think I would like the Charcoal and red striped." He said, taking one last glance at the tank.
<span style='color:red'>"Er, Mara?"</span> Stryx asked, his hands full with the two squirming hatchlings, <span style='color:red'>"Could you grab him the charcoal male?" </span>he asked, struggling to keep a firm hold on the snakes in his grip. The female was attempting to worm her way up his sleeve; already a third of her body had disappeared under the dark fabric of his hoodie, the exposed part of her body wriggling furiously, trying to get away from him.
Reaching out, Dade took the little Pumpkin and Pale red male from Stryx. After a breif inspection, he was impressed and it showed on his face. "An excellent Calico. I have a striped female who's in gaurding a clutch by an Aztec male right now. Both are from Calico lines, and the male is a potential carrier since he's thrown clutches with Calis in the past. Would you be interested in a trade?"
Mara looked up at the sound of her name. Stryx looked like he was being attacked by the alughas in his arms. She cocked her eyebrow. Now this is quiet a sight.. she though with a grin on her face. Amaranth stood up and walked over to the cages, the clam female still laced around her arm. She reached her free arm into the cage where the charcoal alugha was curled in a corner. She reached in and grabbed the little creature, only to have him shoot up her arm and constrict around her bicep. <span style='color:orange'>"Gah! Take him!"</span> she said quickly.
Stryx laughed slightly and walked over to Mara. He gently uncurled the male from her arm, and he immediatly wrapped tightly around his wrist, his head and upper body securely caught between Stryx's gentle fingers. Her turned to Dade and nodded slightly. <span style='color:red'>"Yeah, that should be good." </span>he said. He quickly headed over to the desk that bore the hatchling's tank. Reaching under it with his foot he fished out a large cardboard box. The pumpkin female had calmed down by this point, and her released his hold on her body. She curled lazily around his lower arm, freeing his hand. Stryx reached into the large box, pulling out three smaller cardboard boxes with small holes along the sides, large enough for air exchange, but small enough that thin alugha hatchlings couldn't squeeze through. He carefully pried the charcoal male off his arm and slid him into one of the boxes, closing it up quickly. He offered one of the boxes to Dade,<span style='color:red'> "Should make carrying him home a little easier." </span>he said with a small smile.
Syray reached for the box that contained the charcoal alugha. He examined the box a little before reaching into his cloak. He pulled out a small card and held it out to Stryx. It was one of his many homemade menlo cards. It was pretty basic but had a couple of nice codes in it. "I was planning on selling it, but its all I have to offer." He said hopefully, looking at the small cardboard box again. He held it under his arm and could feel the alugha wreathing about inside it. It seemed like a particularly lively specimen.
Thi nodded. She lifted her arm slightly and the Flitter took off to find another temporary perch. It seemed to want to go to Mara's head. -Thank you.- she said nodding in acknowlegdement of Mara's comment -May i see the pumpkin female?- she asked hesitantly
<span style='color:red'>"That'll be great."</span> Stryx said happily, accepting the menlo card. <span style='color:red'>"The funny thing is," </span>he snirked, <span style='color:red'>"I got Lucien, the father of the clutch, in exchange for a custom chip." </span> Stryx stuck the chip into one of his pants pockets. From the same pocket he produced a small notebook. He flipped though it a second before tearing out three of the pages. One had basic information on caring for alugha, as well as the last time he had fed them; the second and third had the specific males' information on them. He handed them to the hatchlings new owners, as well as the care sheet to Syray. he hadn't bothered to pull one out for Dade, the breeder obviously knew how to care for alugha. Male 3 pumpkin-pale red-pale red-calico-solid CA-FE-EF-uv-st Male 1 charcoal-red-pale red-striped-solid AF-EE-EF-vu-st <span style='color:red'>"Take good care of them, kay?"</span> he added. He turned to Thi and held out the pumpkin female, <span style='color:red'>"Go right ahead." </span>he said brightly.
Thi picked up the tiny snake and laughed as its tounge tickled her arm. -Aww, shes precious!- Thi exclaimed. she sat on the floor and played with the tiny snake for a short while before standing and exclaiming. -I'll take her!-
<span style='color:red'>"Great!"</span> Stryx, took another small carrying box and handed it to Thi. <span style='color:red'>"What do you want to pay in exchange for her?"</span> he asked as he pulled out the females sheet and a care guide from his notebook and handed them over as well. The females sheet read similarly to the males: Female 4 pumpkin-charcoal-pale red-calico-irregular CA-AF-EF-uv-ts
<span style='width:100%;font-weight:bold; font-size:10px'>Out of Character</span> <table class=ooc><tr><td>Wee, a chance to play her! Her current clothing can be found in her profile.</td></tr></table> Morbid waltzed into the room, not even bothering to knock. The small flyer advertising the sale or trade of young alugha had caught her eye. Usually not one for pets, the bat-like 'dragon was keenly interested in these little guys; they weren't all cute and fluffy. "Here you've got some alugha you're trying to find homes for," Morbid said smoothly. Sliding over to the tanks, she gazed inside. Tapping on the tank, she indicated the remaining male. "That one's not spoken for, is it?"
"So, pick from my clutch in exchange?" Dade slid the little Calico into a box. "I'll be moving into the school soon, so it won't be hard to find me."
<span style='color:red'>"Thanks, keep me posted."</span> Stryx said to Dade with a smile. Her turned to the female who had just arrived, <span style='color:red'>"Nope, no ones spoken for 'em." </span>He answered happily, glad that he had possibly found a home for his last male. <span style='color:red'>"Would you like to take a closer look at him?"</span> he asked, moving towards the tank, ready to open it and pull out the male.
Mara followed the flitter with her eyes as the creature landed squarely on her head. She wasn't expecting it to land there, but she didn't mind too much. After it started to dig into her scalp though, Mara put it on her now free arm and let it rest there. She sat down in the chair behind her. She really needed a cigarette right now, but she had a feeling some of these 'dragons were not smokers, and probably would not be able to stand it. So she sat there in silence and stroked the bird-like creature, and finally decided to wait for them all to leave before running over to her bed and searching for her lighter and such. Mara looked up at the female that had just entered the room. She was about to answer her question, but shut her mouth when Stryx stepped over to the tank.
Morbid nodded, stepping back to give him room. "Absolutely." So, it was a little male, then. She could deal with that. His coloration was what had caught her eye; a silver base, with his belly scales a dappled, irregular black and white color. The stripes that ran down his back were blood red, and a light shade of copper. Magnificent.
Stryx nodded and opened the vivairium door, reaching for the silver male. He quickly withdrew as the alugha made a small lunge for his hand; mouth open wide and tiny fangs bared. He quickly reached foward, pinning the snake just behind the head. He carefully pulled the small snake out, then shut the tank door. Stryx stroked the retiles back in a soft, soothing manner until it ceased to threash in his grip. He slowly hled the snake out towards Morbid, <span style='color:red'>"Here, but if you do take him, he'll need a little bit of socialization to get used to being handled."</span> he said.
Ah, a fiesty little guy. Morbid grin, a motion that gave her a corpse-like appearance. It was like a body that had been left in the sun; all of the fluids were gone, and the lips had pulled back over the teeth. "I think I can handle that." she replied, holding out a hand to recieve the alugha. It slithered between her thumb and elongated index finger. His tongue flicked out rapidly, nervously, and he inched along the back if her hand with short, jerking movements. Turning, he slipped down between her fingers, resting against the wing membrane there. The veins and capillairies just under the surface made the tissue warm, and the small reptile curled up between her index and middle finger. "I like him!" Morbid said, grinning again. "I'll take him. Got anything specific you're taking for trade?"
