Chzyuak grinned and clapped her hands happily. "Yes, I would love to learn how to play." She stood up, and started walking towards the pool tables, and paused to let Nene catch up.
Instead of walking, Nene took to the air, his dragonfly wings becoming a blur of movement as he lifted off the bench. He flitted quickly to the corner pool table, pulling two of the shorter cues off of that rack before settling to the ground. He offered one to Chyzuak with a grin. "This is called a pool cue. You use the pointy end to hit the cue ball."
Chz took the pool cue from him, and looked at it puzzled. "Wouldn't it make more sense to hit it with the other end though? I mean after all it is bigger." She looked at him, waiting for his answer, looking confused.
The arden shrugged and laughed. "I don't make the rules, Chyzuak," he said as he turned to get the balls. He found a box, tipped them out onto the green-clothed surface of the table, and penned them all with a triangular contraption. "This is called racking the balls," he told her, lifting the plastic frame so that the balls were arranged in a perfect pyramid shape. "And this is the cue ball," he instructed, holding up the solid white sphere. He placed it across the table from the others, with dramatic finesse. "You hit this one into the others to break them up. But first, would you like to be solids or stripes?"
Chzyuak watched and listened closely. "Um I will be solids I guess." She watched smiling, even though she was beginning to get that feeling, like something wasn't going to work very well.
ooc x Ooh, foreshadowing. xD ic x "Good, I'll be stripes then. That means you have to get all the solid-colored balls into these six holes-" he gestured to each of the corner pockets, then the sides "-before I get all the striped balls into the holes. But first, we have to break up the balls." Nene grinned and gestured towards the table, invitingly. "Would you do the honors? Just hit the cue ball into the other ones, as hard as you can."
Chz looked at him, then at the table and back at him. "Uh sure." She moves and awkwardly aims her cue stick, at the cue ball, and proceeds to hit it, with as much pressure as she put into it. To her dismay one of the balls flew off the table, when the cue ball hit it. She concentrates, and stops the ball before it hits a dragon in the back of the head. "Oh, that wasn't supposed to happen was it?"
He blinked in disbelief, watching the ball hovering in the air, just inches from an unsuspecting pendragon's head. "No, no that's not, um, supposed to happen." Nene scratched his head lightly, waiting for her to guide the ball back to the table. "I suppose you could get a free point for a headshot, though. You have superb aim," he said reassuringly, with a light giggle in his voice.
Chz looked with wide eyes, at him. She quickly placed the ball back on the table. She said,"So, perhaps less pressure when trying to hit the balls, then."
"Mm, yes, I suppose. Watch," he told her, gripping his stick and walking around to the end of the table where the cue ball was sitting demurely. Though harshly attacked, the balls were effectively dispersed across the table, and Nene spotted a perfect shot. The fey leaned over the side of the table, lining up the shot with keen precision, and in one sharp crack hit the cue ball into the orange-striped sphere, which careened into the far corner pocket. "Like so," he said with a smile.
Chz watched him and said,"I don't think I am going to be able to keep the balls on the table. I really don't want to take the chance of almost hitting someone else."
Nene straightened up and looked at Chyzuak confusedly. She'd been so eager to learn how to play before - why was she so resistant now? It was an easily remedied mistake. The arden knew better than to question the motives of fickle females, though, and decided to succumb. "Alright," he said quietly, taking to the air, buzzing over the table and landing gently by the wall, where he placed his pool cue back on the rack with the others. "We won't play pool then," he tried to smile through the growing frown, ending up twisting his face into something like a grimace.
Chz flew up and landed next to him, and put her cue stick away. "I am sorry, I want to learn but, I have this really bad feeling, right know. Perhaps if there weren't so many others around, I wouldn't have this feeling...." She looked at the ground hating, the fact that she stopped the game but, has learned to follow her instincts.
"Okay," Nene nodded. He wasn't upset or angry; it wasn't in his character to be bitter. Of course, it wasn't in his character to be this interactive, either, and his own social grace was frankly surprising to the fey. Oh well, he mentally sighed, even that's not enough. "Well, if you ever want to learn at a time when there aren't so many people milling about, you can come find me," he offered, smiling successfully this time.
Chz smiled at Nene. "Thank you, I will come look for you. I do want to learn how, just preferrably with less people around. She glances at a clock. Oh wow, I have to get going, I still have some homework to finish up."
Nene nodded, making his way back to the table at which he'd left his apple juice. "See you around, then," he said with a nod, turning his back to her so he wouldn't have to watch her leave.
Chz smiled and headed out the door. She thinks to herself, Well, despite almost hitting a dragon with a ball. That didn't go to bad.
