1. Reveri could feel his blood heat up with battle fury that had been bred into him, seeing as Race had been from a strong breed of warriors. Just because Rev's father had been weak and insecure didn't mean that his bloodline was tainted. A mysterious glint flickered through his eyes as inverse black incisors snapped at the female Korad, watching as the mother hesitated, glancing at her cub, and growled back, stiffening and preparing to leave, but unsure about abandoning her cub at the same time. Ridalokii decided it, however, and the Korad mother dashed away as fast as she could, speedily making tracks for a different part of the vast jungle, with only a passing whimper, begging her pup to follow. Reveri was almost stirred to pity for the poor parent, forced to leave her child behind. The feeling dissapated as swiftly as the battlelust, however, and he was soon calmly watching the cub.

The beige cub, striped with soft gray, stared at the two in paralyzed fright. For this Korad, Reveri did soften. Whispered words caused his ears to flick, and his eyes to move to his associate as well. There was little they could do, obviously they were saddled with a Korad cub. Which wasn't a bad thing, neccessarily. An idea caught in his mind, and he grinned at her in an almost pleading fashion. "We could keep 'im. Perhaps even train him. It'd be fun. Like a pet, or somethin'. Not everyone can boast having tamed a Korad for a pet, y'know. And I'll bet he'd be a great watchdog of sorts." He wasn't sure if she really knew what a dog was. Did they have those on Ramath Lehi? In any case, he leaned slightly closer to the Korad cub, though he was careful to avoid getting close enough for the frightened creature to snap out of it and attack him. No reason to get bloodied, now was there?

  2.
Reveri's outward rage brought a shiver to Riddy's spine. He had seemed so docile before; so kind. But to see him spitting cruelties after the Korad mother.. confused her quite a bit. In spite of this, she nodded in subtle agreement to his idea. It was true, she had no clue what a 'watchdog' was, but she got the gist of it from the rest of his speach.

"I suppose we could.. no sense in spilling innocent blood. But what makes you so sure he'll be willing to come with us?"[/b]

The she 'dragon glanced around quickly, searching for something.

"We need a leash for 'im.. or her."[/b]

She wasn't quite sure of the pup's gender, and sure as hell wasn't going to be the one to risk injury checking. Even young Korad's could do some damage.

  3. Reveri was neither Ying nor Yang, he was of both, mostly balanced. Sometimes the scales were tipped, but that was only for short periods of time. Neutrally walking the line between kindness and cruelty, happiness and rage. Compassionate eyes watched the cub, softened by its predicament. The obvious fright in the youngster caused him to creen softly, his voice low and calming as he eased towards the Korad. The petrefied cub sat on its haunches, staring at him, transfixed. Reveri's movements were as soothing as his wordless coo, easing back some of the icy fear that had taken the pup as he saw his mother scared into flight. Hope rang in the eyes and heart of the youngster, and he flicked his ears at the male pendragon, wistful. Easing closer, the 'dragon moved swiftly, nudging against the youngster, "accidently" knocking the small Korad to the ground.

As the youngling fell, Rev slickly slid into position so that he cushioned the small one's fall. Surprise registered on the face of the cub, and a soft sound escaped his lips as he scrambled back into a standing position. Trust began to flicker through the youngster's eyes, though he was a bit unsure and unsteady about the whole ordeal, seeing as his parent had just been chased off by the male that now seemed friendly and welcoming. It was baffling. Reveri had, in his moving, also registered that the youngster was, indeed, a male. That much had been a vague thought planted in Rev's mind from the start, due to the scent, but not confirmed until now. Nodding in satisfaction, he rubbed his head against the Korad's, then quickly danced over to stand beside Riddy. Glancing at her, he finally replied to words she had spoken earlier.

"That makes me so sure. Heh... though I wasn't sure t'would work." He said, mischeviously. That had been a serious danger to his life, being so close to claws and fangs. Now that he was out of it, the male was confident about the youngster's slowly growing trust. "A leash, eh? Hm... vines." He commented. Speedily jumping up, almost as if he were going to attack Riddy, he turned agilely in the air, wings bearing him towards one of the many trees in this forest, jaws snapping shut around one of the vines. As it broke, he carried the green length towards the cub, starting, again, that wordless song. Again, the male stood transfixed, allowing Rev to slip the quickly looped vine over his head to rest gently around the youngster's neck. Padding back over to Riddy and dropping the other end near them both, he tilted his head slightly, watching the female pendragon. "We need a name, too."

  4.
She watched with awe as Rev, who was a moment ago a vile brute, sing to the pup. He was indeed mysterious, and this new display tantalized her yearn to learn more about him. The emerald vine dropped inches away woke her from her day dreaming, and a paw was placed protectively on the end. There was no risking him getting away; Korad were sly creatures, and the child could have already hatched some sort of devious plan to escape and seek revenge on the duo of 'dragons for the loss of his mother, even if he could easily find her again. Silence reigned supreme for another moment or so, before vixen replyed to his last query.

"A name, eh? It should be something powerful yet elegant.."[/b]

Hardly an answer. She thought it over again.

    "I've got no ideas."[/b]

    At least she was honest.

  5. The silence enveloped the male, though it was a comfortable lack of sound, not a suffocating one. A name. They needed a name for the youngster. None that he knew would really work, though. None, that was, that he thought would work for a Korad. Names from his former homeland weren't any good, either, though they would probably be more unique then the ones most pendragons and their pets had. Then again, there might be Jacks and Jills here, he didn't really know. His own name wasn't one that his homeland considered a real "name", it was merely Reverie with the e cut off. Except, of course, the fact that it meant "Bright Eyes" in the ancient language of his dam. Thinking of his mother caused Rev to abruptly cut off his thoughts. Thankfully, Riddy spoke soon after.

"Hm... Rauts? I realize it means beast... not very elegent... hm."

  6.
Her own name had little meaning, 'Ridal' coming from the question mark shaped tatoo on her left haunch, and 'okii' to make it seem.. longer. His suggestion brought a grin to her face.

"Rauts.. I like it. And beast doesn't necessarily have to mean something bad.. we're beasts to one creature or another."[/b]

The name was repeated monotonously in her mind until she registered it with the tiny Korad watching them earnestly.

ooc;[/b] hah. short. I'm uninspired.. or something like that.

  7. Rev's tail spanked against the ground in delight at her response. He had hoped that she would like the name, though doubt had settled, since she had wanted elegant. Which "Rauts" didn't seem to be. Somehow, the name fit the little Korad, though, and it stuck in Reveri's mind, even before it was confirmed by his affiliate. A gleeful grin followed his tail's rapid movement. Glancing at Rauts, he noticed the avid attention of the youngster. A smart one, their Korad. Already he was taking things in and calming down, calculating. Or so Rev presumed. So long as the cub wasn't plotting to harm them, he was fine with it. After all, intelligence was a good thing in an animal. All the more easily trained.

"Indeed. Glad you like it. What about you, Rauts, like your new name?" The Korad blinked, not comprehending, then wiggled a bit in his comfortable collar, as if in affirmation.

  8.
Apon further inspection Riddy began to notice intricate patterns on the body of the Korad; gray stripes against the beige formind designs that looked like illustartions a child would make, or even tribal cave paintings. with far less color, of course. A wordless utter escaped her, followed by a glance to her companion and a few almost breathless sentences.

"These patterns.. I've never seen them on a Korad before.. my grandfather used to tell me stories about regal ones who had fur like this.. but I thought it was just a legend.." [/b]

Trailing off, she continued to examine the patterns, gnawing her lower lip with frustration.

  9. Rev's eyes narrowed as he sidled closer to the Korad and Riddy, peering at the markings. His own eyes widened quickly as he saw the entwining patterns. Rauts squirmed under the attention, and fearfully nipped at Rev's nose, not liking the overly close range with the pair of pendragons. Reveri idly swiped a forepaw at his face, his heavy, padded appendage gently smacking the Korad across his muzzle, a soft rebuke. Whimpering softly, Rauts curled up, exposing his back to the pair, where more patterns could be seen, different from those they had already viewed on the other side. Yawning lightly, Rauts lay his head on his forepaws, drowzily peering up at the pair.

"A legend born... wonder if the other cubs are like him, or if they are normal. I doubt his mother was special, she ran without thought." Reveri commented, thoughtfully.

  10. She winced as Rev's hefty paw struck the pup, but then again, the pup aught to have known not to bite. Oh the difficult training of a pet. The vixen began to stroke the pup, while still examining the markings. Apon hearing Rev's remarks about Rauts' mother a snort was issued.

"She sure wasn't a 'legend'.. runnin' off and leaving this poor guy by himself. As for the other pups bein' this way too.. I've never seen one like this my whole life.."[/b]

  11. Rev pondered silently, idly moving closer to the cub, pressing his own weight against the youngster. Rauts stirred in his sleep and pawed at the 'dragon, then leaned into the other male, to balance them both. Reveri grinned silently, proud of the young Korad, so swift at learning to trust the pair of pendragons. It certainly would have been hard for Reveri to give his trust to a pair who had scared off his mother. If, that was, he had really cared, back then, about having to leave his parents. This would have seemed a blessing indeed, to the pup that Rev had once been. Salmon tongue flickered out, ruffling the fur atop the pup's head in affection. Already the biting and cuffing had been forgotten, a lesson learned, then pushed to the back of both of their minds.

"Aye, but I suspect, perhaps, his siblings might be out of the norm as well? Otherwise why would there be such a herd? Perhaps they realize the royalty that flares through their young's blood, and, thus, they gather to protect their future rulers? Or some'in like that." Rev said, still contemplating the whole idea of a regal and royal Korad.

  12. Riddy patted the pup on the head, attempting to recollect any memory of the other pups having the unique patterns of Rauts.

"The ones I scared off from under that pile of leaves sure weren't like that. Heh.. they were pretty ugly, actually."[/b]

  13. Reveri laughed, a low, throaty sound. Shaking his head mildly, the male reached a paw over to snag the Korad's hindleg, tucking it more neatly beside the youngster. Shifting in his sleep, Rauts nibbled on the paw as it passed, a loving gesture.

"Mm... alrighty, then. Maybe they come every once and a while, and none of the Korads know it, heh."

  14.
A grin had now been permanently plastered onto Ridalokii's features. She had never been the 'motherly' sort. Oh sure, she would take in a stray Dakesto child now and again, but it was simply to feed and release. She had never gained the kind of trust Rev had with the Korad.. but then again, none of the Dakesto were.. royal. Who knew; perhaps Rauts would have trusted the first 'dragon to come across him alone? It could have just been a coincidence, a fluke. Or, the duo who were watching over the sleeping figure now were somehow destined to make him great..? Ah, who knew..

"Maybe.. it's destined the uhh.. chosen pups get paired up with a 'dragon.. or two..? There was an elder in my tribe as a child.. he had a Korad, the thing followed 'im around everywhere. Can't remember if he looked like Rauts, though."[/b]

  15. Reveri was a rather kind hearted beast, and he had often taken care of sickly youngsters of various species. Of course, that had been back in a different time and world, since he hadn't found any since coming here. Soft thrum of approval rumbled through his body, transmitted into the young Korad as he lay beside the pup. The cub's response to was to furrow his brow and shove a paw into Rev's face, sleepily protesting the feeling. Chuckling lightly, Rev glanced down in deep affection, before looking up at Riddy. Obviously, both of them had, all unknowing, fallen into the trap of this pup's love. Whether or not that was on purpose, however, was still under question. His ears flicked forward, and he listened to what Riddy had to say with an amused nod. That was true, but who knew for sure?

"Hm... well, he seems a sweet sort, in any case. Likes us both, too. Doubt we'll have much trouble teaching him things." Rev comments. As if to affirm that he likes them both, Rauts swipes out a paw to hook Riddy's own in a sleepy display of affection. "By the by, do I havce to keep calling you by your full name? Feel free to call me Reveri, or Rev. Your preference." They couldn't very well be off standish and call one another by their full names if they were to have joint custody of the young Rauts, now could they?

  16.
A soft-hearted smile crossed her stubby muzzle from Rauts' action, and she leaned over to give him a few good licks, as a mother cat would do for her kitten.

"Aye.. he's deffinately a little sweetie. An' you can call me Ridalokii.. or Riddy, or Lokii... however ye' wish to shorten it."[/b]

Sitting in the same spot for extended periods wasn't pleasing to ones muscles, as Riddy found out when she rose to stretch.

"Ouch.. can we start trainin' our.. guard dog? If I have to sit here for another minute, I'll scream."[/b]

And she meant it, too. Leaning over to snatch up the end of the vine leash in her jaws, she gently shook awake Rauts, urging him to rise and come along with them.

"What shoulld we teach 'im first?"[/b]

  17. Reveri chuckled at Riddy's response to the cub's movements, and Rauts seemed to settle more at the reassuring licks. Stretching out more, the Korad rested fully on his stomach as he continued to sleep. Riddy's words were given a brief nod as he decided the easiest to remember was "Riddy". As the other 'dragon moved to her feet, the male followed suit, easing out his muscles as he rose, knowing very well how cramped they could get. A grin flickered across his face at her words, and he shook his head in amiable amusement. As he was tugged, Rauts squeaked drowzily, and rose to his feet, yawning to display pearly whites as he blinked at Rev, then Riddy, quizzical. Reveri smiled reassuringly, then glanced at the other 'dragon as she spoke. Shrugging lightly, he replied to all she had said so far.

"Sure am glad he didn't run with his mum. T'would have been a shame. Eh, s'ppose I'll call you Riddy, then. Easiest to remember." He said with a jesting wink. "Dunno. Perhaps... we should teach him simple stuff. Like sit, stay, come, heel, run. Things like that?" Rev inquired, tilting his head.
