Salme plodded on to the edge of the forrest. As they entered the small plains of Janardan seemed to melt away. She looked up at the tree canopy and let her eyes sweep over the underbrush near them. She let Linnet's words sink in a little beore she responded. "Still, its pretty neat. I seems like it would be like flying everywhere, but in slow motion." To enphasise her point she started to slow to a half-hearted walk. After a few steps, she hop skipped back up to where Linnet was and continued to walk normaly. She chuckled a little. "Yeah its nice." She said simply as her ears picked up the sound of a certain animal somewhere noisily chattering with it's neighbor. She let out a sigh. As she walked she noticed her feet no longer touched hard ground, but a more springy, earthy ground. She took no noticed of it at the moment, she was buisy consentrating on hearing the faint noises.
Linnet turned and watched Salme’s little underwater demonstration, she then burst out laughing. When she finally straitened up Salme had caught up to her, she had re claimed her breath and spoke. <span style='color:orange'>“The whole city is air tight so your not really in the water."</span> But it was the main thought that most people got when she told them she had lived under water, the city of Aurius wasn’t that well known. She herself however could not breath underwater with out the use of magic of life without the city would be hard. Or an adventure of sorts anyway. As they kept walking deeper into the woods Linnet didn’t notice that the path beneath them had started to just turn into a worn down mud path, different from the well defined cement one they had started on. One of the main things that distracted her was sounds coming from somewhere around them. It sound small but she really didn’t know what it was, within second a small creature ran across the path and didn’t stop till it got to the other side and out of sight. Linnet screamed and jumped back. <span style='color:orange'>“What was that!?!"</span> Said Linnet claming herself down, a little embarrassed that she had been startled but such a small creature. <span style='width:100%;font-weight:bold; font-size:10px'>Out of Character</span> <table class=ooc><tr><td>I not sure where I was going with that so you can take it where ever you like.^^;</td></tr></table>
Salme was a little disheartened at that comment. Living under the water was something unusal and yet awsome. She wanted it to stay as unusual as possible, otherwise it would not seem like such an adventure. She lightened up once again and kept walking a little further until Linnet let out a yell. Salme looked in the direction the creature went just in time to see it scurry away. She jumped back in surprise. "I dont know..." She stopped and looked around her for a second, a very confused look on her face. The trees surounded them on all sides, looming over them. Every where she looked seemed exactly the same to her. Salme turned around to look at the path they had just come from. She let out a gasp. "What happened to the path?" She said, her voice rising. They could not be lost could they? They had just been on a path not too long ago. The school had been right behind them. Salme looked around the woods again, for any sign that might signify where they had come from.
Linnet breath slowed down back to normal, or at least something close to normal. But once Salme made a comment about the path not being there any longer Linnet quickly looked down at her feet and to where the path should be, but wasn’t. Her jaw fell open as she stared in confusion. She quickly started to look around but all she could see was trees. Lots and lots of trees. <span style='color:orange'>“I-I don’t know. I thought we were just on it."</span> She said with confusion. She didn’t understand how a path could just vanish beneath there feet. It wasn’t logic. They weren’t even in here long, how could a path disappear to easily. She stopped and took a few steps back, nothing changed. When she looked forward it looked like that path would go on forever and eventually come out around the school. Or at least that’s what she thought. <span style='color:orange'>“Maybe we should turn around? We must have left tracks or something to show where we came from. It shouldn’t be that hard to follow them back."</span> She couldn’t stop the hint of worry from showing in her voice. The scenario was too unnatural.
Salme nodded, she was sure they had just been on it. They would have no direction of where to go otherwise. They would have just wondered on aimlessly without a path but they had been on a strait course.....She fell to her knees and looked up at the looming trees. She did have wings she could use, not very strong ones. She never used them and their muscles would by now have deteriorated from lack of use. She dreaded flying, she was afraid of hights. Besides all those trees above her looked like they would tear her apart if she got anywhere near them. She was snapped out of her paranoia by Linnet. "Alright we can try. I dont know about you but tracking is not one of my strong points." She got back up to her feet and started to look intently for any sign of their passing from where they had come. If they could get out of here without her having to break out her wings she would be all the happier. <span style='width:100%;font-weight:bold; font-size:10px'>Out of Character</span> <table class=ooc><tr><td>Sorry for the delay on posting. Oh and Salme does have wings for if they really need to get out, I was a little disapointed when I remembered that, so she will try her best not to use them. ^_-</td></tr></table>
<span style='width:100%;font-weight:bold; font-size:10px'>Out of Character</span> <table class=ooc><tr><td>Oh man, Linnet has wings too! It never even passed my mind. We can just say the trees are to tight together or something so they wouldn’t be able to make it high enough to fly and other such excuses :P…</td></tr></table> Linnet followed Salme gaze upwards towards the tree tops. She guessed that she was thinking about flight. They both had wings but she herself wasn’t too sure about flying in tight spaces. Her wings were anything but small and there wasn’t much room between the branches above them. It looked painful if anything, there was no pain in just trying to find the way they came from first. <span style='color:orange'>“I’m not much of a tracker but I’ve taken a few navigation classes, but most of the time I have a map. But it wouldn’t hurt to try."</span> Linnet turned around and knelt down to get a better look at the forest floor. She could see there most recent paw prints and a few broken twigs they had stepped on. She slowly started to walk in the direction the paw prints came from. As she walked it she thought she felt herself turning but that did make any sense. She looked up and tried to just follow the path with her eyes but soon lost it. <span style='color:orange'>“This doesn’t make any sense."</span> She said shaking her head.
<span style='width:100%;font-weight:bold; font-size:10px'>Out of Character</span> <table class=ooc><tr><td>Hahaha. We are dumb. ^^ Yeah I agree, its just too tight a squease and that type of thing. *nods*</td></tr></table> Salme let out a sigh. She too knelt down and looked around the area they had definately come from. She did not see anything to get alarmed about. A footprint here and there, a slightly mis-shapen plant having been trompled on. She followed Linnet's gaze and she too noticed the turn that the footprints took. She stood up and followed them a little bit. "You're right. I dont remember a turn or anything in the path we took." She knelt down again and looked at the prints. They seemed fresh enough to be theirs. But she thought she would have noticed if they had taken such a turn she stared in the direction that the footprints seemed to go. And she grew even more puzzled. She looked down at the prints and markings again to make sure she was looking in the right direction. When she looked up her expresion did not change. She turned to Linnet. "I.....I think these lead deeper into the forest. How is that even possible?"
Linnet shock her head again and pushed her blue hair out of her eyes trying to get a better look at what she was seeing. It looked like what Salme was saying was right. It just wasn’t logical from the path they had walked to the one they had come across. <span style='color:orange'>“I think your right. But how did it happen. There’s no way we walked all the way through this forest, it’s pretty big."</span> Linnet was retracing there steps in her head. Her mind kept thinking back to when the small creature had ran across their path. Had they been turned around somehow? Finally when the thought became too much to took a seat on the side of the dirt path. She took a few deep breaths to calm herself then she looked around again. She then tried to trace there path in the dirt in front of her. <span style='color:orange'>“The only thing that comes to mind is when that dark creature ran across our path. Could we have turned and walked in a different direction with out noticing?"</span> She looked up at Salme who seemed just as confused as she was. How did there quite little walk turn into something so mixed up?
Salme was silent for a moment her jaw hung open. Everything was suddenly all wrong. She looked up at the canopy of trees overhead and thought back. She had definately not noticed if they had turned. It did not seem logical to her. After a while she stood up and rubbed the back of her neck. "Well I guess its possible. But it still doesnt explain the direction the prints go." She shook her head, she was loosing it. She examined the footprints a little more, even placing her own paw in one of them. As far as she could tell it was a match, but she was no tracker. She turned to Linnet. It seemed they were both loosing it. She looked back at the path and focused on it intently. Linnet was right, there was no way they had gone through the enire forest. She let ous a sigh and dropped her head. "So, the question is, should we follow them?" She said hopelessly. They both agreed it was not the way they had come, but where elce could they head?
Linnet straightens up from looking at the prints in ground. She watched as Salme tested the size with her own paw, it looked like a match to her. She didn’t even remember seeing any other foot prints while they were walking; then again it wasn’t really something she was looking for. She let out a small sigh. <span style='color:orange'>“Might as well. We don’t seem to have any other leads so we might as well do something."</span> She looked behind them one last time shaking her head. Something was definitely wrong here, but what she could place her finger on. She started to take a step in the direction of the paw prints. As she tried to lift her other leg she found that she couldn’t. But it was too late she was already moving forward. Linnet felt herself falling and let out a short yelp. She brought her other paw up to brake her fall but it wasn’t much. She hit the forest floor in a cloud of dirt. She coughed a few times and tried to clear the dirt from her sight. She then wiggled her left paw out of the tree roots it had gotten stuck between. <span style='color:orange'>“Ouch."</span> She said dully, rubbing her sore paw.
Salme nodden in agreeance with Linnet. She was right, any other way they headed would be a guess and nothing better than that. If they really had gotten turned around at least they were on the right path. She turned to walk in the direction the prints came from. Before she took her first step she heard Linnet fall to the ground. She turned back around and, realizing what had happened, rushed to her side. "You okay? What happened?" She said kneeling down. She glanced over at the roots that Linnet's foot had been caught in. Funny, Salme had not seen them before. Then again Linnet hadn't either until they called attention to themselves. The roots where most likely just well hidden, easy to miss and thats why they had not seen them before. Salme looked around at the other trees around, looking for protruding roots. Now that she got a good look there did seem to be quite a bit of protruding roots around. Salme shrugged it off and stood up. She held out a paw to Linnet. "Oh I see, nevermind. Need help getting up?" She said, a little unnerved. There was something not quite right going on.
Linnet reached up and took hold of Salme offered hand. With her help she pulled herself up on to her four paws once again. <span style='color:orange'>“Thanks."</span> She said, brushing dry dirt and leaves of her shining fur. She then tested her ankle making sure that there was nothing wrong with it. She didn’t feel any pain so she guessed that she hadn’t fallen on it too badly. <span style='color:orange'>“Yeah, I think I’m okay."</span> Linnet glared over at the roots, even thought she knew it was stupid to be mad at an object. But maybe the roots weren’t as solid as she thought; she would think she would notice something like that before tripping over it. She pulled her two toned eyes away from the culprit and back towards the chosen path. <span style='color:orange'>“I think we should be getting out of here. Something is giving me a strange feeling."</span> She wasn’t too certain but she guessed that Salme felt it too. There was something strange in these woods and Linnet was in the mood right now to find out what it was. She started to walk in there decided direction.
<span style='width:100%;font-weight:bold; font-size:10px'>Out of Character</span> <table class=ooc><tr><td>Yes all that "sorry for being so late" and stuff. ^^ And just so you know, Im working on doing a comic of this thread. It wont be done for a while though. Im still on the compleatly unnessesary step of highlighting important stuff on the print out of the rp. ^^ I like highlighters. Hehe </td></tr></table> "Yeah, I feel it too." It was a strange bone chilling feeling. This woods, or at least the part they were in seemed to be toying with them. She quivered a bit and took a finaly look around before following after Linnet. This path seemed to be as good as any they would find. Besides they could not get any more lost then they were now. Besides, if worse came to worse, they had their wings however unlikely the success of that route might be. She watched the path below her, making sure that she did not trip. She did not want to be caught off quard. Suddenly her ears pricked and the fur on the back of her neck stood up. She stopped and turned around. Something darted from the path out of the corner of her eye. She called to Linnet. "Did you hear that? I think something is following us...."
<span style='width:100%;font-weight:bold; font-size:10px'>Out of Character</span> <table class=ooc><tr><td>Yea, highlighters are quiet fun^^ I’ll be looking forward to it. This thread has made me laugh.</td></tr></table> Linnet felt a chill go up her spine, the short hair on the black of her neck stood up. She could only remember having that feeling once in her life before. Before she had ever came to Janardan. She had not expected to feel it again, just that simple feeling of real fear. She felt her heartbeat speed up ever slightly; she took a few deep breaths to try and calm herself and looked back at Salme. <span style='color:orange'>“F-followed?"</span> She wasn’t sure where the sudden shake her in had come from but she soon stopped herself, not wanting to look like a huge cowered. But she would admit that she was worried about what was going on. At first she thought that it might just be a while creature, like the one that had crossed there path earlier. But then another thought found it’s way into her head. Could it be someone from the school? Could it be what’s-his-name… Vlun was it? He had said something about revenge but she didn’t expect something like that to happen so soon. But how would someone like him find them, who didn’t even know where they were? Linnet lowered her voice, not wanting to be over heard but what ever or who ever was behind them.<span style='color:orange'>“You think it might be someone from the school?"</span>
Linnet was not the only one who was afraid. Salme also started to shake, her knees clacking against each other and her heart racing. What could possibly be following them? She stared at the spot where the shadow had dissapeared to as if waiting for it to reappear. She had not gotten a good look at it, but whatever it was it gave her the chills. She turned her head slightly in Linnet's direction, but kept her eyes glued to the same spot. "I dont know, I didnt get a good look at it. " She took a couple steps backward, further up the trail. As if she had not already been creaped out before this happened, now she was just scared. It was like being in open water, a shark fin emerging from the water and then disapearing into the depths. Would it come after you, or just leave? You had no way of knowing. The the analogy her mind made made her tremble and let out an inaudible wimper. The thought had not helped their situation. Reluctantly she turned back to the direction of the path. "Maybe we should go faster or something, see if we can loose it?" It didn't seem like a good plan, faster most likely meant more noise. If whatever was behind them knew how to track they would still be followed.
In the back of Linnets head a small logical voice was yelling at her and saying running wasn’t going to help. But at that moment she wasn’t listening to that voice. She was just thinking Run, run, run But at the same time she was having trouble moving, as if everything was going slow. She was almost too scared to moved. She had always hopped after the boating incident she wouldn’t have to be afraid of things any more, but she couldn’t stop herself from being afraid of the unknown. She found she could finally moved again and finally spoke. <span style='color:orange'>“Yeah, sounds good to me. Maybe if we run really fast we’ll find the way out."</span> She was trying to be hopeful with that last comment. Maybe at least they would run into someone who knew there way around here. Students had been walking in these woods for years and years, there were bound to be older ones who liked to go out for a walk. Or at least she hoped so. She looked over at Salme, gave a little nod to show she was ready. She then shot a look over her shoulder at the area the darker…thing had last been seen. She then leaped forward and started to run. She hopped her wasn’t a bad decision on her part.
Salme too was fixed with fear. Her whole body started to shake but she did her best to calm it. Her heart pounded loudly in her ears. It seemed that alone would be enough for the follower to follow them. She heard Linnet's words and snapped out of her trance. "Yeah good idea." She said shakily. At the time, in her state of mind it did seem like the most logical solution to their problem. The faster they ran the faster they could find the way out, right? Salme returned the nod and shifted her feet, ready to run. She was a little slow to react after Linnet darted off, but a little shift of a shadow under a tree reminded her to run like hell. She took off, almost like a one of those dumb cartoons who skids in the dirt before actualy going anywere. Thats how she felt like. She was moving but she wasn't going anywere, like she couldnt go any faster than that. Then, much to her releif, she bolted forward just behind Linnet. She ran a ways, not very far but it seemed like it had been miles already. Do you...think....we lost it? She said between shallow breaths, hoping that Linnet would hear it despite the fact it was little more than a wisper.
Linnet’s heart was pounding in her chest, and even through all the noise they were making by pulling themselves along the dirt path all she could hear was her own breathing. After a few random twigs in the eyes she shut her eyes closed tightly and it wasn’t until Salme spoke that she open them just a crack to see her friend by her side. <span style='color:orange'>“I – think – we – might – have."</span> She puffed out through all her intakes to fill her lungs with air again. She had no idea she was so out of shape, she had been spending a little too much time in the book studies these last seasons. She slowed her pace down a little, once they had started running she thoughts started to come more clearly to her. But maybe clearly wasn’t the right term, more like her brain started to fill with different scenarios of horror books that went the same way this was going. After went seem like hours but was barely a few minutes Linnet tried to talk again. <span style='color:orange'>“Maybe, we should… take a look around."</span> She pulled herself to a stopped and tried to get a look around. A first she didn’t notice any big changes, but she was also still breathing hard from their run. <span style='color:orange'>“See anything?"</span> She asked.
Salme started to slow down along with Linnet, but her mind to ld her to keep running as fast as she could. It was like she had the gas and the brake petals pushed to the floor. She did not want the thing to catch up with them. What if it was some carnivorous animal? What if it was a rapine? It was near imposible but the very thought made every hair on her body stick strait out. Both her tails looked like electrified feather dusters. Her eyes were open wide and she let out a small squeak of fear. She saw Linnet stop and she skimmed to a halt as well. As soon as she did she wished she hadn't. It would be even harder for her to start running again now that she had stopped. Momentum was her best friend in a situation like this. She heard Linnet's voice over the blood pumping through her ears. "Good idea...." She choked out. She looked around the area intently. Nothing seemed to be out of place. It was all just trees and bushes like they had seen before. She took a couple steps toward a bush, cranning her nek to see behind it. Satisfied she stepped back and looked around some more. For a moment she heard something and her ears pricked up. It had just been a cricket, starting up it's song. "Nope. But it must be getting near nightfall. We should really get out of here..." The thought of being in the forrest at night made her spine tingle. <span style='width:100%;font-weight:bold; font-size:10px'>Out of Character</span> <table class=ooc><tr><td>What do you think, suddenly stumble out of the forrest? Or keep going?</td></tr></table>
<span style='width:100%;font-weight:bold; font-size:10px'>Out of Character</span> <table class=ooc><tr><td>Hmm, well we might as well stumble out soon. Starting to run short on ideas. Should we have them figure out what was behind them or keep that as a mystery?</td></tr></table> Linnet’s ears stood up at the sound of the cricket. And when Salme mention night she started to worry about how they would survive in the wild with out food or shelter. But wosre situation would be if what ever had scared them so much showed up again. A cooler breeze that probably came with the temperature dropping went through their part of the forest. Linnet shook with a chill. She also gazed around in trees and bushes trying to see if anything was lurking in the shadows, but hoping that every corner she looked around was clear. So far so good she thought to herself. No sigh of evil pendragon eating monsters any where. <span style='color:orange'>“Staying here for the night isn’t a welcoming thought."</span> Her breathing was almost back to normal now; her words left her mouth easier. <span style='color:orange'>“I’m sure we’ve covered lots of ground now. There’s no way the end can be far. It has to be somewhere."</span> She was looking in every direction now, sure that somewhere was the exit but she just couldn’t see it. She wasn’t sure if she wanted to scream with frustration or hide with fear of the unknown. But then she thought she heard something more commen then the wind through the trees. It sounded like voices, but distant. She quickly looked over at Salme. <span style='color:orange'>“Do you hear that? Or am I starting to hear things in my head?"</span>
