Due to a sickness no one seems able to cure, Diomfrar is rather shy around people, covering himself from head to toe and especially his mouth and nose. He doesn't know if his disease is airborn, or if it can even be spread, so he doesn't touch people often, and if he starts feeling worse than usual, he goes home--he doesn't remain out around people, and especially children. Diom loves kids, and often wishes to have some of his own, but his fear of passing on the sickness keeps him from attempting to find a mate and settle down. Instead he creates toys for them, and performs puppet shows in his shop to do his best to make them happy.
He's been fighting the disease since he was twelve, for twenty one years, and may have had it longer than that. Diomfrar believes he'll beat it, whatever it is, and tries his best not to lose sight of hope. He doesn't ever take a sick day for a puppet show, and quite often when he can't move from bed makes his toys there. He gets up when he should stay down. But he also has amazingly insightful things to say, and can hold a debate or a discussion quite easily--until he starts hacking up his lungs, that is.
