OOC Yay, first thread! Anakariea 15 Dyo 81380 Noon-ish)) Another shower of hot sand exploded into the air. It was distinctly followed by cursing. A maroon 'dragon picked herself form the ground again. Her black hair already carried flecks of the rough grains. Using thin fingers she ruffled it from the dark strands, the small clouds fell down to her unclothed body. The burning heat didn't seem to bother her much, it was the sand. She kicked up another shower and sighed. It had't been that long had it? She would try again! Streching her arms out, she ran foreward, her cartweel ended with her on her back. She was no acrobat, but this was simple! How many hundreds of times had she done this before? She jumped to her feet, stumbled and fell back down. Making no move to try and stand again, Kari grabed a handful of hot sand. She dumped it on her stomach, and watched it slide back down to the ground. Letting the heat of the ground absorb into her body, she closed her eyes. Prehaps she would take a quick break? The maroon lump slowly drifted into a peaceful sleep, lulled by the warmth of her surroundings. Her hatch-place.
Charry: Drsuj The quadropedal form of a large lumbering black 'dragon seemed to approach from over a sand dune. The creatures eyes narrowed in response to the sunlight stingging at his orange retinas. It shifted into a bipedal form as it slid down the dune, reverting back to all four feet as it reached the bottom. In the shadows of the dune he now stood behind, the black 'dragon spotted an out of the normal color stretched out in the desert sand. Warily, we walked over to the slim figure, crouched low to the ground, his belly almost touching it. He looked down at the features of the young 'dragon in front of him. Lifting his head, he looked all about, trying to discern if this was a trap. Seeing no one, he bent down towards the girl and sniffed at her hair lightly, trying to see wheter or not she was dead. His huffing made quite a lound noise on it own considering he was flaring his nostrils out wide to try to avoid getting sand in them.
She had been in a nice fitful sleep, but surely enough, the loud sniffing noise brouhgt Anakariea around quickly. Nearly jumping up into the air, she rolled away from the other 'dragon. Her hair was in disaray, and sand clung to her from her attempt to roll away. Staring at him from her position on her belly, she allowed her heart to revert to its normal beat. "Um, hey." she lifted one of her hands up in a feeble wave. How was she supposed to respond to him? "Having, um fun?" she attempted to smile, but surprise just stayed her face.
Drsuj jumped back with a small yelp as Anakariea rolled awake. He began to snarl slightly. He tilted his head slightly to one side questingly. He gave a slight barking noise as though questoning her. After a bit of that, he sat back on his haunches and cleared his throat slightly "Hello." It came out a bit hoarse and stiff, as though he didn't use it very often. He looked at her quizzically once more before he asked "What are you doing out here?" He waited for an awnser from her.
"Oh, um." she pushed herself up so she could sit properly. Sitting straight, she dusted sand from her chest before giving a proper reply. "Well, I was really just passing through. I like it here, which seems sort of natural seeing as this is where I hatched..." Anakariea ignored his hoarse voice, if he wandered around by himself that was none of her business. "But what brings you here?" She put her hands on her knees and let a quirky smile settle onto her face. Meeting new people was always fun for her.
"Uhhh..." he fumbled a bit for his words when she asked her question. "Oh, uhh, you know, just wandering, trying to escape." He stopped here. When he said that, most people thought he was talking about escaping from the city, let them think what they wanted, was his oppinon. He stood and then sat back down in a barely perceptible movement. "Just trying....to get away." he allowed his eyes to stray slightly towards the sky as a large burst of wind blew past them.
"Hmm." Anakariea lifted her hand up to let the wind sooth it. Even if the wind was not cold, she liked its feeling. "Do you not like machina?" she knew it wasn't her place to ask such a personal question, she herself wasn't fond of them, but was he afraid of them? Her natural curiousity had her stare at him, head tilted slightly to one side.
his eyes widened at her second unexpected question. He looked at her and cleared his throat. "I have....much reason to fear them." he said, letting that be the only awnser to her question. He looked at her carefully, trying to make sure wheter or not she was working for 'them' as he so endearingly called them.
She laughed at his shyness. "No need to be ashamed. Everyone has their own thing. Besides," she stood up. "I can't even do a cartwheel!" Twirling, Anakariea fell onto the hot sand. She giggled again, and stared up at him. "Mind if I inquire your name?" she let stay a smile, hoping to make him feel comfrotable in her presence. Anakariea could tell something was bothering him.
He glared at her slightly before sighing, realizing that there was no way that this squeaky, annoyance (an endearing term to be sure) could be in no way connected to anyone at all. He looked at her slightly before "Drsuj."
He seemed rather annoyed. Had she offended him? She pushed the thought aside. "I'm Anakariea, call me Ana if it's a bit to much." The young 'dragon stood again. Brushing sand off of her body. She stook her tail and wiggled it in front of Drsuj. "Why so glum?"
His eyes followed the movement of her tail carefully. It was almost too much. He felt like a cat that was ready to pounce and to catch the tail between his jaws. He shook the feeling off and looked at her "Glum?" he asked. it had been quite a while since he had needed to use that word.
"Ya, you know. Unhappy?" He seemed to take interest in her tail, perhaps it was distracting him. Anakariea let go and let her tail swish behind her. She started to think about this odd fellow in front of her. He seemed, preoccupied and cautious, he seemed to be hiding. Or was that just her imagination? Her smile slipped for a moment but she made it come back.
He eyed her as she let her smile falter. he didn't change his expression as he brought it back up. He thought that maybe she was trying to put on a show for him. His eyes flicked about quickly. he decided that there were no places for anyone to hide, especially not from him so he looked back at her. "It's not hard to be unhappy when you're constantly running." he said and lay down in the sand slightky. he decided that if anyone, he could trust her with a secret noone but a few dead bodies had shared with him.
Anakariea frowned openly. Something very serious was desturbig him. Something a street performer wouldn't be able to help him with. She let her happpy expression calm. "From what?" her voice was soft, slightly scared. All the same, she wanted to know.
He turned to her, scrutinizing her once more. With a sigh he began, "If you've ever heard of 'The Lost' then you will understand all I'm about to say. First, I am a prisioner, a murderer, an escaped convict, whatever you wish to call me I am. I escpaed Kokoni long before my scentence was due to be over, but I escaped with a man named Revol. I lived as a part of the 'Lost' family until they all died out. All through that time, I have been on the run from bounty hunters and the such who wish to claim the bounty on my head and to throw me back into Kokoni." he stopped and waited to see the girls reaction.
Anakariea, still young, and quite gulliable, thought he was making it up. She played along rather poorly. "Oh, so... who did you kill?" she looked at him with a near bored expression on her face.
"Uh, ok." Anakariea played with her hair a moment, looking down, before she looked back up at him. "I don't believe you ya know. You just don't seem like someone capable of murder." Anakariea knew her judgement of him would be poor, she had just met him after all, but still. Weren't murders supposed to have a steely glint in their eyes, and wierd twitchy movements and signs to themselves? Or were those novels? She lost herself in her own thoughts.
His eyes widened slightly as he looked at her from the corners of his in a slight glare, part amazement look. Then he sighed and chuckled slightly. "In all those years in Kokoni, I have reverted back to a very primeval form, you could almost call the personality I had created to keep me sane was tribal." he said. One of his ears flicked forewards and back, listening for noise around them. He did not want to be interupted now, while he was talking to her about his life.
