The only other sound willing to match it was the distant rumble of rolling thunder coming from the dark horizon. Janardan Academy was out of sight in the north opposed to the on coming storm, far enough to be safe, far enough so that she could stop walking. Cilea Fin had been pulling the little makeshift wagon all the way from her dorm room at Janardan, inside of it was her homework. It had been surprisingly hard to find a wagon to carry her project, in the end she had to bum it off one of the gym teachers, who thankfully didnÂ’t care what happened to it. Which was for the best, Cilea was hoping to bring it back with burn marks at best. However the chance of it not returning was also a possibility. Insider her little red wagon were cubes that not many people would recognize. The best thing to compare them too would be large car batteries, with a negative and positive pole, which was pretty all it was. Wires ran from coil to pin, connecting all of them to on central, more advanced looking device. She admit, she didnÂ’t fully understand what she had built, having followed directions from multiple books and her teachers she finally felt confident enough her in energy storage device to test it out. While at the same time putting her own skills to the test. She was finally starting to take her Electrokinesis seriously, after years of barely training it at all. Having finally found a suitable teacher she was ready to make some advancements. That was why she was here tonight, to try and harness the power of the storm, to tame it if you will. She could already feel the electricity in the air, her own natural affinity for it cause her own hair to spark on contact every now and then, the bright green hair on her head was starting to stand up on itÂ’s own. She let go of the handle of the wagon, letting it fall on the grass. Bending over she pulled out a metal poll as tall as herself and using a hammer she had also brought along, pounded it into the ground a few meters away. That was to be her safety net. Her job was to draw the lightning to her, then to try and energize the batteries and filling the storage device. If she couldnÂ’t control it sheÂ’d direct it to the pole, which was grounded, saving her from shooting it off towards an unexpecting tree. She had been forced to remove any sort of metal sheÂ’d usually wear, her arm band, her piercings, all for safely, but she felt naked without them. She was wherein a dark sleeveless shirt and plain shorts that ended a little above her knees. The humidity was still making it rather warm, but she knew that once she had to walk back to school soaked that she regret not bring something warmer to wear. There was another large flash soon followed by the sharp crack of the expanding air. Louder and faster then last time, it was getting close, and all she could do was wait.
"Hey! Whats that thing and why are you putting it in the ground?" Del asked the strange pendragon. Del (for short)is six inches when bi-pedal. He resembles a mouse sized fox. His fur is varying shades of yellow, orange, and red all swirling together to give his fur the look of fire, his tail flame is deep blood red. The membrane of his wings is an opaque orange. his eyes are gold and wide, making him look more of a child then he is. His body is slim and muscular. His skin is festooned with tattoos. The first being a symbol of the fire god surrounded by his family crest. The second was one of a drooping eye, between it's shoulder blades. The third was of two claws clasped in prayer, stationed on it's right breast. The last two are of a wave and rock face, one on each of it's forearms. "You know theres a storm coming yeah? And everyone knows that lightning is attarcted to......... oooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhh" Del's face shined with recognition. "So you want lightning to strike the pole...........what for?"
The loud voice coming from somewhere nearby made Cilea jump nearly a foot in the air. Not only was someone yelling, but they were yelling at her. She looked around, quickly scanning her surroundings trying to find the origin of the voice. It took her a while to see the small feyndragon. Once she found the creature it was hard not to notice. They stood out like a flame in the approaching darkness. “Erm…um." She wasn’t really sure what to say, whoever it was looked young and probably wouldn’t really understand. “No, I don’t want the lightning to strike the pole, I want it to strike me." Saying it out loud made her realize how crazy it sounded. Was she really ready for this? Well it wasn’t like it would be the first time she had been hit. And who says light never strike the same spot twice? “It’s a project for school." She admitted.
"Hhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmm.....interesting. But why? Most pendragons wouldn't want to be struck by lightning. I'm told it's quite painful." Del pondered for a moment. "You say it's a project for school but what becomes of your project if you die? And how does getting struck by lightning help the project unless your the project itself?" Del frowned. "I thought I was strange but you ice the cake my friend." Del looked to the sky. "Clouds are moving in."
As the little feydragon started to ramble off questions Cilea lowered herself to the grass, crossing her legs, that way she wouldn’t have to look so far down. “Okay, slow it right down." She said with a hint of laughter in her voice. She felt like she was being bombarded with questions. “Very true, most pendragons don’t want to be hit by lightning, it can be an extremely painful or even deadly experience." These were all things that continuously popped into her mind. “As for the why, it’s to test my own abilities, see how much energy I can control at one time. That pole you notice it pretty much my safely net." “Which means yes, I’m more or less the project, and I do not plan to die today… it’d be very inconvenient." She had started to twist one of her fingers through her bright lime green hair. “Hmf, I hope I’m not as crazy as you think I am, otherwise this won’t work as well as I planned. No need to frown about it though." She looked up at the sky when the feydragon mentioned the clouds. They were getting close, her time was ticking down closer to zero. “See, I do have a reason to be out here facing the elements, what about you little friend? You could be swept away by the wind at any minute."
"Me blown away.... yeah it is possible. But my mastery of three of the four elements will protect me. See." Del waved his hands and a dome of rock came up and covered him. His muffled voice came through "Oh no I'm trapped." thud thud thud The rock broke apart and Del rolled with laughter. "I did that to some old pendragon and he nearly had a heart attack. He was pretty peeved. Anyways would mind me watching and then when your done we can go back to school and tell them how your experiment worked. Oh this is exciting I've never seen an electromancer at work before. Do you mind my watching hhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmm?"
“You’ve mastered three elements?" Cilea asked, sounding a little like she didn’t believe him. She leaned forward, hands on her knees. “But you’re so…young." She watched closely as he summoned a ceiling of rocks. She was impressed up to the point of Del realizing that he was trapped. She blinked a few times, waiting for Del to break out, then as he rolled around with laughter. There was no way a master would be trapped so easily in his own spell. She leaned back again, crossing her arms over her stomach as she thought about letting him watch. It did make her feel a little self conscious if someone was watching her every move, but it wasn’t like she could stop him. “I guess it’s okay if to stay, but as soon as the storm gets close enough for me to call down some lightning I’m going to have to ask you to move. At least over to the tree line. This is the first time I’ve tried this, so I’d rather not put you in danger." There came another loud crack from the sky, the storm was nearly here. The flashes where becoming more consistent, she could feel the electro negativity growing in the air. With one more bone shaking rumble, the pair of them where hit with the rain.
"Okay sure if it'll make you feel better just let me know when. Anywho yeah I'm kind of a jack of all trades but my specialty is dreamweaving. I practice messing with the elements purely for the fun I can have plus it's not like I had a choice my kind insist on learning to bend the elements to our will. I've practiced but elements are not my cup of tea but I've learned enough to handle myself. Anywho do you think you could tell me what you hope to accomplish with this experiment of yours? Also just in case, what should I do if your knocked out or....... worse. I know I don't know you well but I wouldn't want to see you......pass shall we say."
Cilea rested her head in the palm of her hand as she listened to the small feydragon talk about his skills. She had rarely seen feydragons around, so she was rather intrigued. “Dreamweaving you say? That sounds…. intrusive." She knew she’d never want someone lurking around in her head. For being such a small fellow, Del sure had a lot to say. ‘what do I hope to accomplish? I hope to stay alive’Of course she didn’t say that out loud, it was easier to feign confidence when you aren’t voicing your own concerns. “Well, you see those things in my wagon over there." She gestured with her head in the direction of her transportation. “It’s a special type of battery capable of holding onto a lot of energy." She paused, tempted to delve into more battery information but decided that it was too boring. “It’s mostly to see how far I’ve come with my abilities, testing my limits kind of thing." Not the safest curriculum she’d admit. She contemplated the next question for a while, maybe it was just good luck that someone who wanted to watch had come around, that way if anything terrible happened they could… well she wasn’t really sure what they could do. “If I scream, don’t come running, if I collapse, don’t touch me for a few minutes, I might still be charged." She crinkled her nose while Del danced around the topic of her possible death. “You can make sure I have a pulse if I pass out, there’s no way you could move me. But worst case scenario I lose control of my body for a bit, kind of flailing around and stuff. Keep thinking happy thoughts eh?" She stood up, ringing some of the water out of her hair, wishing now that she had brought goggles to see better. The lightning was flashing about twice a minute now, good a time as any to start. “It may be a good time to move, the show is about to start." A challenging smile crossed her face, she was starting to see this the same way as a live performance, time to push that stage fright right out.
