Timestamp:37 Tessera (Autumn), 81379 Character: Magnus Magnus strode down the hallway in his long powerful strides that covered quite a remarkable distance. His robes where gently sliding smoothly along the polished marble floor that furnished the guilds more private areas. He was in the conclavers private offices that only the chosen five could access. It was a place that only a few would ever see in their life time, and even fewer would ever see what he was about to see. He walked further along until he began to reached his favourite door, what lay beyond it was something too beautiful. Most conclavers where usually very loner type people, they were often some what reclusive and quite. Yet they often expressed them selfÂ’s in the most amazing wasy when they got given their own space. He lifted his gloved hand, a white and black glove and they both where littered with gold embroidery. He tapped lightly three times on her door, waiting with his eyes focused for any response what so ever. Conclavers where usually very private too and didnÂ’t always take kindly to many visitors, he wasnt quite sure on her mood today either.
Artemis paced around her circular room. The room was big by anyone’s standards, monstrous to those of shorter stature. Instead of the average concrete walls, these were made of pure glass. The room itself was situated by itself and surrounded by the beautiful view. Often when she was enchanting she needed that extra sunlight to help an enchantment or a bit of fresh air to cleanse her mind. On one side of the chamber it was dedicated to books, it wasn’t a large collection as most of the books were of her own making. Situated everywhere else along the walls were counters that held different materials; every alchemist’s dream. There was almost every type of metal ever made, though the quantity was not always so grand she could easily send one of the apprentices to do it. It wasn’t like they had much else to do. She clapped her hands together and all of the windows were covered up by a thick black cloth. Once she had completely voided the room of light she took a deep breath took out a vile. The tube contained a rare liquid which only a few new how to create and harvest. Unscrewing the top, she blew on it lightly but not enough to make it spill over the edges. Immediately the two candles on her desk lit up with an eerie iridescent glow. The colors were actually of her own doing, she had basically ‘edited’ the flames of her candles to shine the collage of colors, but the vile was just something that she had happened upon over the years. Experimenting was what she did, and the light was just one of those experiments. Screwing the cap back on she walked slowly to her desk. It was on an elevated platform in the middle of the room and circular like everything else. Her desk is made of pure lead, as in most of her experiments lead is the hardest material to go through. Coated on the top is a glossy finish that never tarnishes or scratches. Her desk was shaped like a donut, the center of it having a chair instead of the strawberry filling. She walked up three steps and then placed a hand on the top of the counter. It wasn’t even a thought anymore; she knew where the line of separation was that would open up a small passage to her chair. Part of the counter flipped up and she sat down on her comfortable chair. In front of her she had a silk covered object, she delicately unraveled it and pulled out a slender sword. She reveled in its sleek features, the handle was molded like a group of horses running and the guard was made so that it resembled a bunch of leaves protruding from the stem of a plant. Gently replacing the sword back on the silk material she closed her eyes. She began to mumble a few odd things before she heard three knocks. Damnit.. She normally made it so that she couldn’t hear any outside noises, but the level of severity on this task wasn’t that high so she didn’t bother. <span style='color:570000'>"Enter."</span> She calmly refolded the weapon and turned her chair to face the door.
Magnus pushed the door open with his gloved hand and basket in the glory of the room, although the light was streaming in he could feel every metal on the walls. Every strange sent and the colour lights that seemed so magical actually coming from a candle. He look at her and smiled, even though it couldnÂ’t be seen through the mask. He felt sad for a moment at how so few ever saw his expressions yet it had its good points as well. She didnÂ’t see how his face lit up when ever he saw her. "Well hello, not interrupting am I" he said in his deep yet slightly raspy voice. He didnÂ’t want to disturb her yet he didnÂ’t really want to leave. His fingers gripped his staff firmly, so much so his knuckles where going white yet he thanked his gloves and unnatural skin colour that it would never be visible. He glanced over to the cloth on the table and smiled with glee, maybe his eyes reviled his excitement but he wasnÂ’t sure. "Oh where you about to enchant" He said while still looking over the amazing room.
Artemis flashed Magnus a once in a lifetime smile. <span style='color:570000'>"Well now that you're here, that can wait. Is there something you wanted to see me about, Magnus?"</span> She had a certain amount of respect for the man, not often would she speak to some one as an equal or let alone speak to them at all. Carefully lifting up the weapon she stowed it away under a compartment in the desk and turned to remove herself from the enclosure. Getting off of the platform, she motioned for Magnus to follow her over to the two black leather chairs next to the fire place. She kept the blinds closed for now as it helped give a more calming effect when talking. Overall her room was fairly medieval in style, yet the added touches were much more futuristic than one would expect. She bent down to light the fire, and took the vile out from her pocket again. She poured a droplet onto the firewood. The flames erupted in front of her and they were the same rainbow colors as the candles. Not all characteristics of the fire were removed; the flames still produced the same amount of heat. Satisfied with her work, she sat down on the left chair and put her feet on the matching ottoman. She fiddled around with her black robes as she waited for Magnus to come over.
Magnus laughed at her yet not in a bad way, he liked to break down formalities when he wasnÂ’t in front of a crowd of apprentices or journeymen. And especially with her, to him she was like a hidden mountain flower. It was a rare beauty yet in such a strange place, she insisted on hiding herself away from the world yet she belonged in a spotlight. "Ah since when did we need a reason to talk" he said with a cunning tone. He always like to play around a bit, he supposed in some ways he had never grown up at all, yet in others ways he was incredibly mean. He walked over and folded hsi robes as he took a seat in the comfortable chair, letting his body sink into it. He did however have an idea for the continual hazing of the apprentices. It was not a pleasant idea for the apprentice in question yet it was perfect for everyone else. He smiled wickedly inside his mask yet he couldnÂ’t help but be slightly worried about his own mental health.
Artemis continued to smile as he sat down, he always had a way with words. <span style='color:570000'>"True."</span> She smirked slightly as she looked upon his face. Always had she wanted to know what he was thinking, yet that mask stopped her from finding out. Sometimes she just wanted to go up to him simply tear it off and look upon the man she called her equal. She looked down at her lap at the notion; she always had the same thoughts about that 'dragon. She played with her fringe a little bit, it didn't hide her eyes but it got agitating after awhile. <span style='color:570000'>"Well I'm glad you came and visited. It feels like it has been years since we last sat down and had a chat." </span>She always enjoyed these chats, it kept reminding her that she wasn't alone. A few thoughts came to mind as she had wanted to speak to him about something. She always wanted to speak to him about something, but she could never bring herself to do it. <span style='color:570000'>"I was thinking Magnus," </span>She emphasized his name. <span style='color:570000'>"That maybe if any one in our ranks was deserving enough I could make them some nice item for their collections. After they obviously completed a complex task."</span> She wasn't thinking so much complex as she was thinking embarrassing and possibly degrading. Every now and then it was fun to be evil.
Magnus relaxed a bit once he was off his feet in the chair, he felt like such an old Kiom at times it was unbelievable. Yet he did spend all his time on his feet so it was not that unexpected that he enjoyed a rest, and with good company of course. Yet to be fair he hated most people so their where only a very select few he actually liked. She was easily his favourite though, especially since they always seemed to be thinking of the same things. "<span style='color:purple'>Ah probably has my dear, time just seems to flow by these days. Although things have got a little hectic lately.</span>" He said slowly and taking a deep sigh near the end. one day he might retire to a little island and just make things and be at peace with the world. Yet in truth it sounded deathly boring to him, he liked to rest and be clam yet he also liked the chaos and madness of his life. The constant demeanour of the apprentices until they graduated and the rising young stars of the guild that got beaten down by the old masters. Yet when she mentioned her idea for the apprentice he knew exactly what she meant, they had done things similar before and in the past it had been great fun. He thought about it for a moment then grinned beneath his steely expression. "<span style='color:purple'>Hmm yes sounds great, I think I could do with some entertainment especially with all the new apprentices we have these days. Should we make them volunteer of forcibly pick one out, if we want them to sing up then we are going to need some bait.</span>" He said in a infinitely cruel voice that was backed up by a soft yet interesting laugh.
Artemis nodded slowly, finding it amusing when he said 'dear'. Ah, so cute. She stroked the arm of her chair gently as they continued to converse. They matched up so well, they thought almost exactly alike. <span style='color:#570000'>"I guess I tend to miss a lot when I'm locked up in here don't I?"</span> She sighed lightly. There was no way for her to complete any of her acquired tasks if she let herself gallivant around the headquarters. Maybe one day she would let herself out from her own appointed prison and have a decent conversation with an apprentice. Or maybe even have her own apprentice. Mm.. I'll have to talk to Magnus about that. Basically the little 'dragon would be the person to receive all her frustrations. Might not be the best or most amusing position in the world, but the student would learn something from her. She would make sure of that. <span style='color:#570000'>"Entertainment. That would be great."</span> A bunch of nasty ideas and cruel tricks popped into her mind, but for now she would stay silent about them. <span style='color:#570000'>"Well we can pick the next newest addition. And maybe.. Seeing how I was offering to enchant some things for them, that will be their reward. Sound good?"</span> She grinned wickedly at the thought. A little bit of fun would be nice. "And if they were to fail the task.. I could possibly still enchant one of their weapons, but not with what they were expecting." Ohhh the cruelty.
Although Magnus was happy around her and happy for her, he did feel slightly sorry for her job though. Unlike him who ran around the place making sure it was working effectively; she insisted on making the equipment for the guild and its supplies. It meant she had to work tersely for long hours in magical rituals and spells. And to make it worse she was adamant when it came to accepting help, despite his best efforts she wouldnÂ’t accept a journeymen or apprentice to help her. "Ah yes well nothing that is worth while, mostly its just a fight or a duel taking place in the halls or some one accidentally cursed themselves." He said with mild amusement yet with a tedious undertone. Sometimes he thought he should have someone else deal with all that junk. Yet now he began to focus their ideas together, drawing on ideas to make it into something with more substance. He was in the mood to make something the whole guild could enjoy so it couldnÂ’t be to horrible. "Well how about certain apprentices take turns to perform a stand up act and the best one gets a prize that you have already or we can make one specific. And we can also have a loser prize, something for the worst possible apprentice." He said with a little bit more excitement in his voice.
Artemis couldn't help but stifle a laugh. It always amused her when some one cursed themselves, either they were too bigheaded and getting ahead of themselves or just too much of an amateur to know better. Every apprentice needed to be trained, and the tutor must know what they are talking about. She wasn't complaining, but she has met a few 'inadequate' mages and such. Ugh, they really got themselves into as much trouble as they got their apprentices. Grinning despite her thoughts, she brought herself back to Magnus. <span style='color:570000'>"Hm.. This will be very interesting I must say. I can't wait to see this."</span> If it wasn't for her attitude of and personality, she probably would have squealed with glee. But again, this wasn't her. <span style='color:570000'>"So in exchange for embarrassment, you get a prize. The winner gets the best prize, while the worst gets a prize.. But not to their liking. Hm, I really like this."</span> Being down right evil was fun to do sometimes. <span style='color:570000'>"Just make sure you tell me when we're doing it, that way I can get these so called prizes in the works. Or should I let the winner decide what they want? I'm not sure if that's such a good idea to give them a choice. But ultimately it's up to you, Magnus." </span>
Magnus let out a slight laugh with idea floating around in his head. He was already planning this in his mind and had a few plans. he was going to organise some sort of competition, much more fun than just the one apprentice he thought. Still he couldnÂ’t help but let some of his mind worry about her and an apprentice trainee. In fact he decided that this could be a good way to find a worthy one. "Well how about we have a competition where some apprentices audition for the best stand up act then the pne with the best gets a good prize and the worse gets a bad prize. And if we see any with any real talent we give them a chance to train with you" He said as he snuck in a little suggestion. He knew full well how difficult she could be at time yet it only made him smile more since he was just as stubborn. He sighed with a content joy.
Artemis mulled over the idea some, it could be a good way to choose who would be working with her. Well for her, but that's just a technicality. <span style='color:570000'>"I guess that could work. But I want a somewhat compliant apprentice though. Mind you one that's hard to crack would be fun. I could put them in their place pretty fast." </span>She liked that thought. Just like when she trained, she was put in her place many times over and now it was her time to decide the consequences and boring tasks. <span style='color:#570000'>"Hah. So basically the prize could just be working with me. Which for them probably isn't all that great but they would come to appreciate it nonetheless. Through force or actual enjoyment. In one way or another anyways."</span> She winked at Magnus, she could decide this little munchkin's fate. Her mind started to fill of all the gruesome tasks she could make them perform, all those little things she never got around to doing. Hm.. I might actually get a break out of this. That thought alone made her content beyond belief.
