Timestamp: Mia 40 81380 Who: Nyx Location: Somewhere in the Guild Headquarters Time of Day: 4:30am Clothing: Dark purple turtleneck black jeans and black boots Nyx sat impatiently in the Guild Headquarters. She could not sleep and hadn't eaten in several days. So, she figured that making herself useful would be a good thing. She had been sitting here nearly an hour. She finally gave up and grabbed a pen and a piece of paper. She quickly wrote the following message in her typical neat and precise writing. Magnus, if you are not busy could I please ask for a few minutes of your time? I have had something happen and I am not quite sure of, what it means. Thanks, Nyx She sighed and quickly sent the message with one of the more reliable apprentices. She stood up and went into the other room and made a fresh pot of coffee. She figured that if she had summoned Magnus, it would be a good thing to have a pot of coffee ready. She went and sat back down at the table. She pulled her sleeves up and stared down at her wrists. She stared at the new colorless bands, which had just appeared earlier the night before. She had no idea how Magnus could help her but, she was hoping he might have some sort of explanation. She went into the other room and poured herself a cup of coffee. She turned around and walked into the other room, and went to the large window in the room, and gazed out it. She took a drink of her coffee and let her mind wander to the only place it has been for the last eight days. She closed her eyes and watched the pictures in her mind, take over and she couldn't help but smile. She opened her eyes for a moment and looked around. Once she was for sure that she was alone still she sat down on the window pane which was large enough to sit her and another. She set her coffee cup down, pulled her kneeÂ’s towards her chest, wrapped her arms around her legs and rested her face against her knees. She turned her head and looked back outside the window, and wondered how she was going to explain all of things that had happened recently to her parents. She remained in the same position and closed her eyes, and tried to figure out what exactly she was going to do. At this particular moment, she finally broke down and let the tears roll down her face. She wasn't exactly sure why she was crying the only way she could describe it was, it is another one of her feelings. After a few minutes the tears finally stopped, and she thought about the recent visit out to her fathers home. She wasn't quite over the shock of finding out her father had passed away. The only other dragon who new was Raizan. He had did his best to comfort her. Her father had never forgiven her for the trades she chose but, finally gave his blessing. Which meant she could marry whom she pleased, as long as she never returned to his home.
Character: Magnus Magnus was half way helping a stubborn apprentice that throwing water bombs at senior mages was not a good idea, he was currently frozen from the waist down and so far they were having a little difficulty. But his attention was drawn away when a meek little apprentice handed him a neat little paper note, his silk gloves taking it easily and unfolding it. He gazed at it, his eyes scanning over the words carefully. It didnÂ’t say where it was, but with a few prods the little apprentice soon told him. He was partially intrigued and partially annoyed, he didnÂ’t like being on call 24/7 but he supposed it came with the territory. With any luck it would be more than just a lost shoe. He paced down the corridor, his fine black velvet robes with blue and red patterns plus embroidery swept along the floor. his swished his hand back and reached for his cane, he had felt it in a legs a little lately. He guessed all this walking was taking a toll, he might go pay a visit to the healer and invest in a mini car. He reached the room to see Nyx in the corner, all curled up and sobbing a little. He sighed knowing this would take a while, he hoped some pryokinesis student managed to thaw that boy out. Frostbite was somewhat painful. He walked over to her and put an hand on her back, then taking a seat next to her. His emotionless mask with sympathetic eyes peering through. A glint of green in a stony silver. He did hate his mask sometimes, but it was their for a reason not by choice, the price of power. "How can I help Nyx," he said with his usually voice yet with a softer tone to it. He had done this so many times it was like a routine, he should quite and start teaching children care or something of that order. He was sure he must be a master in it bye now. He took a deep breath, letting his lungs fill and his head empty as he got ready to hear her problem. It was amazing the amount of trivial things he got pestered with, from the room key melted, to oh look my head is the wrong way around. But this was a more mature student so he guess it wouldnÂ’t be that bad, she seemed very capable so far and Sejv had plenty of good words for her. He was all ears.
Nyx looked up in surprise. She hadn’t heard Magnus walk in the room. She usually noticed when anybody walked into the room but, she wasn’t in the best of mental conditions at this point of time. She tried to clear her voice without any luck. “Hello Magnus. Thanks for coming down and speaking with me. I made some coffee just a few minutes ago if you want some. Anyhow, I guess I should tell you why I asked to see you. In the last couple days I have had a big turn of events. I found out my father is dead and I have had new bands appear on my wrist." She stopped talking and pulled up her sleeves so that he could clearly see her wrists. There were three colored ones on each wrist. The first ones are black which represent death. The second ones are silver which represent electricity. The third ones are green which represent an undying spirit. In between the black and the silver bands a new colorless band had shown up. She carefully spoke,"I am not sure why the new bands have shown up or what color they will be. This is the reason I asked to speak with you."
Magnus pulled a strange frown at her words, then gave her arms a very quizzical look. Magical items papering onto someoneÂ’s bodies wasnÂ’t really a common affair, in fact it was stupidly rare and normal it was caused by certain triggers. Such things usually only happened when someone reached a certain point in their life, or if something highly significant happened. "Well thatÂ’s highly peculiar, are you sure it wasnÂ’t caused by the death of your father." he said in a puzzled tone. "And what are those other bands actually there for, its highly interesting." he said with a bemused tone. He began to wonder in fact if it was some sort of strange Anubi magic, he was aware they had some rather arcane powers that few other races knew.
Nyx looked at Magnus down at her wrists and then back at him. She thought about his question for a moment before responding. "The black bands first appeared shortly after I was born and my mother passed away. They only recently grew deeper in color upon my fathers death. I am not sure why the bands are on me but, I cannot seem to remove them. Despite my best efforts. Anything and everything I have tried has only caused me great pain in my wrists, so I stopped trying." She looked down at the new bands and wondered what color they would end up being. She looked out the window, and let out a soft sigh. For the moment she temporarily forgot Magnus was sitting there with her.
Magnus thought to himself for a while, letting the silence in the room linger for a moment. This did really require some thought but also some incite into her life, the bands seemed to be triggered but events in her life. One for the start etc... but unless she was willing to diverse a little information then their was little he could really do. "Well do you know of any other event that might have triggered it, all the others seem to have some underlying event and theme so im sure if you think about it something will come to mind." He said firmly. He wasnÂ’t overly sure why she had called him, if the bands couldnÂ’t be removed and she knew about them then he was really wasting his time here. Yet his interesting in rather occult magic and such kept him, maybe she would remember the ritual of how they were attached.
Nyx jerked herself out of slight daydream she had found herself in. She listened to Magnus's words and sighed. She picked up her coffee cup took a drink, and pulled herself so that she was looking at him. "Magnus, I wasn't going to say this but, I do know what has caused the new bands to appear. I met someone and I have fallen in love. I figured there probably wasn't anything you could do on the whole the band thing but, at the same time I needed to talk to someone older who would not judge me..." She said the words but, did not look at him. She continued drinking her coffee, and just waited to hear his reaction, to her words.
Ah young love He mused, he did think she was over reacting though. If you loved someone it was fare easier just to tell them, if they said no then at least you knew that it was not meant to be. Obsessing about someone was never a good idea, however he was assuming she hadnÂ’t told them. But the way she was acting it was more likely, other wise she would just be in his arms. Or her arms, never could tell in this day in age. He was being a hypocrite though, he did indeed love someone himself. But it was not meant to be, she had made it clear that her own life did not include him. Moving on just didnÂ’t seem to be an option, not at his age, the only person that would love him would be a nurse. Then another thought dawned on him, maybe she loved someone who she wasnÂ’t meant to have, a married man or someone already taken. That would be far more complex, unfortunately we could not control who we fell in love with. Or who we lusted with, our bodies and minds sometimes could not be controlled and their infatuations could be more than just harmful. "Who is it" He asked softly, giving her a little rub on the back with his gloved hand. Trying to comfort her anyway that he could, she seemed considerable upset so he took it upon himself to solve this. The welfare of his students was a high importance to him.
Nyx looked up at Magnus, with a slight blush on her face. "His name is Raizan. He helped me convince some of the anubi haters in the Black Market, to leave me alone. He doesn't care that I am Anubi, and we spent the evening and the next day talking and getting to know each other. He also went with me, to visit my father, whom I wasn't aware of his death yet. In case you are wondering, he does know how I feel, and he feels the same." Nyx took a drink of her coffee, and felt the results of not eating or sleeping for several days, taking it's toll.
Ah dear this was complicated He said with a moan to himself. The girl obviously had some racial issues to deal with, she had some strange idea that everyone had an issue with Anubi, in fact it wasnÂ’t anywhere near that. Mixed marriages were in fact very common and the few people who did protest where either the Anubi themselves or the odd bigot. Anubi really where the only people who had massive issues with mixed race, they seemed obsessed with preserving what ever race they had left. It was a strange idea really but he could understand they want to preserve their identity. "Ah your are a confused one then arenÂ’t you, no one is going to judge you. My only advise would really be just stay out of the desert, and really just be happy. You have found someone who loves you and you love them. WhatÂ’s the problem." He said with a little chuckle, he understood she must experience some racism every so often but he was certain their wasnÂ’t much of it. But Bhim was just a bad area, every one took certain risks over their. Unfortunately though the guild often could only buy the things it needed from the more black market areas.
Nyx thought about Magnus's words for a few minutes. "Perhaps you are right. The only time I have ever had a problem besides, when I was young, is when I go to the Market. I will try and stay out of the desert. Although, I will not promise anything. One never knows what will happen, and end up there." She paused and finished off the last of her coffee. "Thank you for listening and the advice you have given me. Perhaps, I will be able to finally get some sleep." She gave him a tired smile.
Magnus just laughed at her, young people hardly ever did what they were told. Yet she needed to sort out some ideas really, and understand that everything was her choice. He could not force her to do anything really, but he could advise in her best interest. "Well go into the desert all you want, but if you attacked donÂ’t be surprised. And go to him, sleep at his place or something. You donÂ’t have to be here if your not well, and stop by the healer to get some sleeping draft." He said as he stood up, dusting himself off with his gloved hands. Patting down his robes that seemed to stick up. "IÂ’m off now, and you go to your hubby or something." He said with a laugh.
Nyx stood up and smiled. "Thank you Magnus. I will stop by the healer and such. Goodbye." She grabbed her coffee cup, went into the other room washed it out and put it back in the cupboard. She quickly cleaned up her mess, and turned off the light. She walked through the building stopping at the Healer, who simply handed her a small vial and nodded. She looked at the vial, unsure of it's color but, took it anyhow. She gave the empty vial back and walked out the doors of the guild hall feeling a little better than when she first arrived.
