This is like a Shadowlack re-hatching

  1. Hey guys, hey.

I’ve been around these parts for many a year now (doing my best to catch up to Jodie’s year count but I don’t think I’ll ever catch her). No name changes on my part, been lautir this whole time. Lautir, lau, Kylie; they all work for me.

Shadowlack is kind of my starting point for serious Play-by-Post roleplaying. I had a little bit of exposure on Neopets in my young days, then bounced around a few different forums during high school but Shadowlack was the one place I kept coming back to and got most invested in. These days I hardly glance at other RP sites!

In my non-online life I’m in the last year of my Masters program where I’m finishing up a degree in Library and Information Sciences. I’m not really good at explaining what this degree involves so I’ll just say it’s much more than just working in a library. In truth I’m much more interested in trying to get into the gaming industry in the next few years, working in a library is kind of my back up plan. Being a spy is my other back up plan.

Other stuff? I’m a founder of a dinosaur religion/cult, I continuously dye my hair different colours, I run a food blog because people doubted my ability to cook, I’m known as “The Villain” in a few social circles and I like to write a novel every year in November. And these are just things I do to stay busy :)

Shadowlack is always near and dear to my heart, it’s helped me grow as a writer and probably as a person as well. I look forward to our time here together :rainbowheart:

  2. Yay Kylie! :D

Gaming industry, eh...? That's where I'd like to be too. Currently I'm building up capital in order to pay people to make me assets and the like. :D Maybe I'll get all of Shadowlack involved. Hopefully 2013 brings more awesome to the mix (I've had to kill so many projects of mine... ugh.). I do like the back up plan of being a spy though. My back up was Geotechnical Engineering...

PS: If I don't get to meet you soon, I am most certainly going to be here for 2014:
Tourism Toronto | World Pride 2014
(Provided that the world doesn't end.)

  3. Woah, Geotechnical Engineering seems so different from where you ended up! (but I guess mine are pretty widespread as well).

By 2014 I should have a job + income so no matter where I end up being in Toronto for Pride would probably be doable (and awesome) :D

  4. With GeoTech I'd still be working with computers... just more numbers and planning, and... yeah. I really like maps. :D

I'm extra stoked about World Pride because it's happening during my hatchday. Parties all over! :hamster:

Also, you make me want to dye my hair... other colours. I haven't done anything much more exciting than bright red and black. I wish that bright colours didn't wash out so damn quickly. :'(

  5. Maps are pretty damn sexy so I completely understand the attraction.

The last pink I had lasted almost 2 months with little to no fading, it was almost freaky actually. Finally re-dyed due to the amount of roots that were showing. There are some colours that last a nice long time but it takes experimentation to find them and I usually devote a full day to the process so it is rather time consuming. But I find it worth it because it makes life more magical :rainbow:

  6. Here Here! I totally second the whole "Shadowlack is dear to my heart and probably helped me as a person" part. :)

Shadowlack is something that will never die for me. I wish i could get back into Rping but every time i have a moment to do so, things get stupid busy again T_T

ONE DAY. ONE DAY I WILL RP AGAIN.

RaL has always been my online home. I pimp it out constantly to people and when people ask about Temrin, i always point them in this direction :3

This was also my first place to RP, i did a little half-assed RPs on Neopets as well but honestly, nothing huge. Just like those *-insert random action here-* moments. I know this place, i love this place and i just cant bring myself to RP in other places because its really just not the same. At ALL!

I saw Masters Degree and my mind was blown! Congrats with all that! :D
Myself, i finished my diploma for web design and interactive media. I want to get my feet into the industry and hopefully get a stable job before going back for possibly my bachelors. Currently, Art is still work for me and i love it, though its plenty unstable and can be quite stressful. My Web Dev work is mainly freelance through my own clients or through a company i'm working for. Still unstable but its better money thats for sure :3

Looking into getting my buisness licence for all this. Art and Web Dev that is. Its a slow process since i've been so busy with trying to get my life in gear, but one day, i will have it : ) Its a lot of work to be done but totally worth it. If i get it before i get my bachelors, awesome. If not? Well, the bachelors actually has classes that helps you put together the info needed.

Didnt have much of a backup plan honestly. Just art. XD *twiddles fingers* its made me the money to survive so far!

Anyways. I am so totally making a theme for RaL at some point in the future! I AM STOKED~

  7. If you knew what my classes were like and how terrible most of my teachers are you wouldn't be so impressed with my Masters degree :p It's mostly just stress inducing busy work. And most of that stress centers around "How will this degree get my a job?", haha.

Would you want your Bachelors to be in Fine Arts or more business-y oriented? I guess if you don't have a back-up it means you've found what you like though! So that's pretty awesome that you get to do it :D

You saying you want to get back into writing when not busy is my exact same approach to art. Someday I'll start trying to learn new things when I have time xD

  8. I didnt have a backup because my parents pretty much were forcing me to go into Post Secondary school before i really had a chance to figure out what else i wanted to do. That doesnt mean i'm happy with my education. I like coding. Sure. But i also find it frustrating as hell and have questioned why i went into it in the first place. :P So.

My art however is what i love doing more then anything, but art isnt stable at all unless i expanded my artistic abilities and its hard to find the time to do that when you are struggling to make ends meet every month.

The bachelors would have been for Web design and interactive media. Which is more business oriented. but its only a thought at this point. I need to get my life onto some stable ground first. ^^

Aha yeah, its hard to find time. When you become responsible for your own life, time management for all the things you want to do, becomes more and more difficult XD
