He sighed, <span style='color:teal'>"that makes try number 45."</span> He was a very determined man and often lost track of time when he was working. He was not absent-minded though. If he had something planned he was make sure he knew when he had to leave. It was summer, he had been given the right to use the shop room and with nothing needing to be done, he sometimes found himself working until sunrise before realizing he needed to leave. He had put an ad in the paper about wanting a partner to help him, but wondered if anyone would actually come.</span>
Character: http://shadowlack.com/persona.php?id=626Rujeim Davlok</a> Rujeim walked down the corridor nervously, his long tail twitched nervously side to side as he plodded along. His mutant wings were flapping occasional, he had worked along for a long time but he hadnÂ’t achieved any ground breaking thing recently. He had a nasty suspicion his mind was running out of ideas, the NRF was so full of rules and regulations, he couldnÂ’t blow anything up or use anything that might destroy the center. He found a small shop in the corridor, its looked nice. He could see metal and other parts through the window, he smiled to himself, this is what you get when you hide from the NRF and the funding. He walked up still just as nervous and brought one of his many arms up to knock on the door. "What am I doing" he murmured to himself.
<span style='color:darkteal'>Amdemaaj was so into what he was doing his brain didn't register the knocking for a few seconds.</span> <span style='color:teal'>"What?"</span> <span style='color:darkteal'>He gently put his tools on the worktable and walked to the door. He was wearing his grubby coveralls as usual when he met the strange looking Lukuo.</span> <span style='color:teal'>"Who are you? I'm working." </span><span style='color:darkteal'>He suddenly remembered his ad, and with a bright smile,</span> <span style='color:teal'>"Oh! You've come to apply to be my partner? Well your the only one, so come in."</span> <span style='color:darkteal'>He was a interested by the 2 extra arms and strange wings, and after looking at his visitor it didn't take him long to find a use for the arms.</span> <span style='color:teal'>"Four arms, eh?"</span> <span style='color:darkteal'>Patting the Lukuo on the shoulder to defuse any thought of racism,</span> <span style='color:teal'>"Must be useful, there have been so many times I wished I have an extra arm or two."</span> <span style='color:darkteal'>He chuckle politely.</span> <span style='color:teal'>"Oh I haven't told you my name. I'm Amdemaaj Nasul, Master in Machina Technology, and Technical Engineering, and shop teacher at the Janadian Academy."</span> <span style='color:darkteal'>He held out his hand.</span>
Rujeim smiled at the polite man, he was very friendly and he had made it clear he didnÂ’t mind the Lukuo genes, not that he should yet it did come up occasionally. He was a bit shy at first and was a bit dazed over at his eagerness. He would have stammered at first but he stopped and thought out his words. "Good to meet you, IÂ’m Rujeim Davlok" He said taking his hand with one of his own. "Master in Physics and Journeymen in Teleportation technology. And yes the arms do come in handy" He said with a grin. he was trying to hide the pride from his voice yet he hoped this didnÂ’t turn into some boasting competition, he had a feeling he would lose. "So do you have any questions about me" he asked curiously, he didnÂ’t know what the interview would be like or anything. He wasnÂ’t even sure why the man needed an assistant partner. He was a double master at building, that was very impressive. Yet sometimes it took more than just skill, sometimes you need an idea.
<span style='color:teal'>"Excellent! Physics and Teleportation Tech." </span><span style='color:darkteal'>Amdemaaj exclaimed.</span> <span style='color:teal'>"Normally I would interview you, but you're you only person to respond to my ad, so, congrats. you're hired. Well I guess not hired, per se, no pay, but if we invent something, you get money." "Since I'm working through the acadamy, we can use their equipment, as you can see,"</span> <span style='color:darkteal'>Amdemaaj moationed at the school's equipment covering the room.</span> <span style='color:teal'>"So, when can you start?"</span>
He gawped at the man for a moment. This was highly irregular, he had never gone to a job interview like this before. It wasnÂ’t even a interview, normally he wouldnÂ’t have liked the lack of order and different styles of doing things, yet he had come to the conclusion that he needed new things in his life. the every day hum drum had become stale and dead, he needed something new, he needed a new challenge other wise he would be stuck in life. He always believed we needed new experiences to grow as a person. He smiled as slow smile which spread into a grin. "Great, I can start now if you like, I'm not very busy these days" He started off pleased but ended up slightly sad, his work hadnÂ’t been proceeding to well at all. His teleportation machine kept making to much negative energy over long distances. He had nearly blow up half of NRF, he had received a suspension from his work and funding and he hadnÂ’t gone back yet even though it was over now. He was to ashamed, so instead of going back he had been pursing other work. "So what are we starting on" He asked eagerly and excited.
<span style='color:teal'>"I've been trying to make this 'hookshot' as I've called it to work. Everytime it shoots the rope never unwinds effectiant enough, and the hook losses velocity." "I've tried lubing the joints of the drum but it didn't work."</span> <span style='color:darkteal'>Amdemaaj wiped his brow and sat by his lunch table. He grabbed a sandwich from his bag and began eating it,</span> <span style='color:teal'>"I've been working on this thing for weeks."</span>
He frowned, he understood the principle of the idea. A gun to fire a rope at a mountain, it would be very good for climbers. Yet in truth Rujeim preferred his personal teleporter. Somehow though he thought bring that idea up wouldnÂ’t go down well so he kept his mouth shut and focus on the problem. His mind began to work over ideas. "Hmmm well a few things come to mind, robe after all, no matter how fast it travels its not as fast as some other things we have in the world. I say we forget the robe. Have the gun fire the hook with a receiver built onto it, then the gun also fires a beam of energy connecting the too. Which can be disconnected of course so we could climb it or maybe it pulls the person to it. Or just an idea, you fire the gun then it teleports you to where ever the projectile lands." He spoke thoroughly and seriously. He realised their were a lot of different ideas their and he had said them very fast. He didnÂ’t have a clue how they would go down. "ThatÂ’s just some ideas of course." he said quickly and nervously afterwards.
<span style='color:darkteal'>Amdemaaj stood silently, slightly enjoying the nervousness he seemed to cause, <span style='color:teal'>"Genius! I never would have thought of that! An energy beam wouldn't slow the hook down at all."</span> Amdemaaj started pacing, <span style='color:teal'>"Though if it used teleport technology it could be as small as a pistol. That would be much easier to carry around."</span> He grabbed a large sheet of paper, a pen. Turning to Rujeim he said, </span><span style='color:teal'>"Well don't just tell me! show me your ideas, my friend."</span>
Rujeim just blinked at him, once then twice. He was a bit dazed, most people didnÂ’t like his ideas but this guy loved them. And he called him a friend as well which was nice. He suddenly became very shy at the fact he was suddenly doing good. "Erm yeah ok then" he mumbled quietly. He grabbed another pen as well and a ruler and held a pen in two of his hands and a ruler in another while steadying the paper with his free hand. Sometimes having many arms was very useful. He drew very fast, on one side of the paper was the energy beam gun. It was like a cannon sort of, the energy need a lot of power which made the gun bulky. His picture of it looked like a long tube with a typical gun handle and two pipes one wide side coming out of the barrel and focusing together. The beam came out the pipes and then they could be taken off and used to climb up or you could use the main barrel to pull you towards it. Well in theory. The other drawing was of a small sleek pistol that was very modern but apart from that looked very normal. He drew a picture of the magazine and ist ammo. The ammo was a small disk that was encased in some armour so it didnÂ’t get damaged when fired and then it contained a receiver and homing beacon in the bullet. A teleporting device could lock onto the signal and could be built into the gun. Once again in theory. He smiled at his neat statistically blue print drawing. He beamed back up at the guy. "Something like this" he said meekly.
<span style='color:darkteal'>Amdemaaj said nothing, but instead was studying the drawings very thoroughly. <span style='color:teal'>"Well, I think we can use both! The teleporter would be good for emergancy rescuse and stuff,"</span> He laughed,</span> <span style='color:teal'>"Or lazy climber. The energy beam would be good as a support line for climbers! You got some good ideas in that head of yours!" </span><span style='color:darkteal'>He laughed again. He grabbed his rifle gun and ripped the rope drum off. He proceeded to remove the base of the rifle, and removed the barrel, </span><span style='color:teal'>"Alright! Let's see if we can't fix this baby up with your ideas."</span>
He grinned at the man, this was going much better than he had expected, it was very much you got an idea and you tested it. Their wasnÂ’t any regulations, permission or anisette rules. He liked it. "Yes both could be good, and thanks" he said with a grin plastered to his face. He was very happy. He began rummaging through the piles of equipment with all of his arms lifting and shuffling. Another thought came to his head. "Erm what shall we use for power, in the beam one. ThatÂ’s not really my specialty." He said with his old nervousness back again. He knew something would go wrong, in a odd way he kept expecting to fail.
<span style='color:teal'>"Hmm..."</span> <span style='color:darkteal'>Amdemaaj wondered where they could get the power. He began taking inventory of any power supplying devices in the workshop,</span> <span style='color:teal'>"Let's see here: An old gas powered generator, a bunch of D batteries, and oh, would a car battery work? I don't have any high-tech stuff, sorry."</span> <span style='width:100%;font-weight:bold; font-size:10px'>Out of Character</span> <table class='ooc'><tr><td>sorry bout the short post.</td></tr></table>
OOC its fine, IC His arms began to piece bits together connecting wires and tubing. He looked up at the man in surprise when he spoke, he didnÂ’t understand why it would use batteries. He put the gun down on the table with a puzzled expression on his face. "CouldnÂ’t you use Machine energy, use the power from Fromina or something." He said with a puzzled tone to match his face. He was fairly sure you could use machine like that and it would work perfectly for the beam as he had a fair idea that it would need a large power source.
<span style='color:darkteal'>Amdemaaj was stunned for a few seconds, <span style='color:teal'>"Oh course!" </span>He burst out laughing,<span style='color:teal'> "I've been working on things that didn't need any huge energy for so long I forgot! Hahaha. Alright let's see here."</span> He grabbed gun held his one hand over the energy storages and concentrated. He felt the energy flow into the machine and after a few seconds it was fully energized,</span> <span style='color:teal'>"Haha! There we go!"</span>
Rujeim marvelled at how he had powered up the gun, he never quite understood how that sort of energy worked, he had never seen it done just by touch. It was quite fascinating, he didnÂ’t even know how the energy was stored. Maybe the gun already had a empty cell in it or something. "So this one looks about ready, shall we test it or start on the teleportation pistol." he asked while hsi brain worked out how the pistol would work. His mind was already working over time, he was still very surprised at how ell their first day was going. They had already came up with two new inventions, who knows what they could achieve given due time. Maybe they could create a new type of vehicle, he wished Ramath-Lehi had more of those, people to walked every where to much in his opinion. He grinned at his own ideas.
<span style='color:teal'>"Let's test it first,"</span> <span style='color:darkteal'>Amdemaaj walked outside and aimed it at the top of the building, and he pulled the trigger. The hook latched onto something up top. Amdemaaj tugged a few times then reversed the line and walked up the side of the building. <span style='color:teal'>"It works!! Haha!! Yeah!!"</span> When he almost reached the top he turned around and headed towards the ground. It took him a few tries to get the hook down but he finally got it.</span> <span style='color:teal'>"Wanna try it too?"</span>
He smiled with satisfaction as the blue beam of energy connected itself to the hook, he was mildly impressed in how fast it pulled him along. The hook needed a little work though, it seemed it needed to be able to detached its self better. "Hmm no thanks, but maybe we should work on some kind of button on the gun that makes the prongs on the hook to fold up so it can come free easier." he said his thinking tone. His mind liked the new challenges and problems, he loved the idea of making something no one else had done. He smiled at their successes.
<span style='color:teal'>"True, I could custom make the hook with a mechanism inside to do so, It'll only take an hour or so. While I start on this, why don't you start on your other idea, since you have more knowledge in that field."</span> <span style='color:darkteal'>Amdemaaj began making a mold for the new hook. Instead of being a hook shape he left the hook parts off for now. He made the inside of his spike shaped hook hollow and made enough room for four arms to store inside. After he did that, he attached hinges on the 'claws' of the hook so they could retract and extend. After a few tries opening and closing the claw he was satisfied that it worked.</span> <span style='color:teal'>"Now I'll just switch these two..."</span> <span style='color:darkteal'>He removed the old hook, and attached the new one,</span> <span style='color:teal'>"Time for another test run!"</span> <span style='color:darkteal'>Again, he walked outside and launched the claw up onto the roof. He quickly activated the claws, which caught on something, and walked up the wall again. He then walked back to the ground and after deactivating the claws the hook came down easily.</span> <span style='color:teal'>"Perfect!"</span> <span style='color:darkteal'>He grabbed Rujeim's hand and shock it,</span> <span style='color:teal'>"Good job my friend! Now, how is your other idea coming along? Anything finished yet?"</span>
Rujeim had been busily working his arse off while Amdemaaj was playing with his gun. Rujeim's four arms worked together piecing his pistol together, it was made from about a hundred different pieces of scrap and things Amdemaaj had laying around his workshop. The bullets he had a little trouble with. In the end he had used some disks instead, the gun fired metal disks that were extra strong than dug into the ground that they hit. Then the teleportation device inside the gun took you to it. He had used his own personal teleported to build the gun faster. It saved getting him to do the machina bit. The teleported was on the barrel of the gun, built into the frame for the pistol making it have a triangular shape. With the fat end near the handle. He had fixed the micro beacons to the disks, he just hoped that they didnÂ’t break. He smiled triumphantly when Amdemaaj came in. Waving the gun around in the air, to show off his fancy new thing. He was so hoping it worked. It was rigged to the beacon only active once it was fired.
