    time: 16th hour
who: Cilea Fin and Kycen Highwyn
where: Janardan Academy - 5th floor, small laboratory

Bubble gum beats and busted pleats were not what today was supposed to be all about but mished matched rhymes and rhythms were generally what occupied the space behind Cilea Fin's eyes. Today she was in one of the small labs that were left open for students to work in on their free time, filled with most of the tools they would need and all the safety equipment that you could dream off. Two of the walls had counter space at hip height and wooden cupboards above that. There were ten long tables spaced out through the room and Cilea had claimed the one right in the middle.

She had taken out all the props that her teacher had recommended working with, but they were free to use what ever they could find in the lab. In the middle of her table sat a small Tesla coil, dormant, without the life spark of electricity. She had always wanted one in her dorm room and was tempted to steal it when they were done with the project. The school must have hundreds of them lying around. She sat on one of the bar stool like chairs at one end of the table, her multicoloured messenger bag sitting in front of her, paper and pens cascading out of the top.

She drew back her lime green and blue streaked hair with two small clips in preparation of a hard days work. Waiting, she fidgitted with the cuff of her long sleeved black and white striped top that she was wearing a band t-shirt over top of. The shirt read 'Gender Neutral' in greyscale with aome shadowy figures in the back ground. It was a rather unknown indie slash techno slash hip hop band that she was crazy about and did her best to spread their fan base by wearing the shirt as often as was deemed appropriate by the hygiene police.

She glanced over at the large clock on the wall, her lab partner wasn't late, she had just gotten hear rather early. She had wanted a chance to snoop through all the doors before anyone else was here, she felt it would give her a sense of what they had to work with. She'd recognize Kycen something-last-name from class but had only ever briefly spoken too him. She was secretly hoping that he wasn't some studious stick in the mud, if he was then today was going to be torturous.

  2. As time passed on, Kycen was running late to class as it was five minutes over the bell. He kind of overslept thanks to his friend Rayik keeping him up all of last night in his dorm room. Why was it always like this? Plus what kept him over the bell was him eating breakfast along with getting clothing on him since he could wear what he prefers it took him longer to get dress in a long sleeve jacket that was like snow with a blue crystal emblem on the back as he also wore his silvery blue jeans and silver necklace. Running down the hallway and up the stairs to level five then straight for the small lab classroom. Kycen barged in and hope he wasn’t going to be counted absent or skipping, but it was too late as the teacher got up and walked over to him.

Listening to the boring lecture of being late for class and all then told him to sit down with his partner. He nodded and looked at the classroom with all the students. Trying to remember his partner’s name and what they look like was fun, but he remembered it was Cilea. Wondering where she was till he noticed her in the first middle lab station. He ran his hand through his spiky white and blue streaked hair before scratching the back of his head as he sat down next to her. Kycen gave her a small apology smile as the teacher gave a lecture before letting the students go on with whatever they were assigned. “Hey… Sorry about that. I overslept. Anyways, what are we doing?” He asked with a sweet smile.

  3. The bang from the door flying open caught Cilea's attention. As well as the attention of everyone else in the class room as they turned to watch the arrival of the late comer. Of course, it was her lab partner making a grand entrance. Considering his shimmering attire she wondered if he wanted to be late on purpose so that everyone would have the chance to see him. He gave a small smile, sitting down after finding her in the crowd. She smiled back, happy to not be left working alone. The whole magic scene wasn't her thing. Lighting may be what filled her veins but it was music that filled her soul.

"Okay well," She looked down at her small notepad where she had make some quick scratches of their instructions for the day. Knowing she would never remember everything the teacher had said. However song lyrics around the margins of her pages still out numbered the class related material. "See those wooden tablets on the front counter near the teacher. We need to get one." The plates she spoke about where lined up in an orderly fashion, none of the students brave enough, or not wanting to look to excited, had bothered to be the first to go up and claim one.

Each tablet had three dark cubes on them, they were dark because they were cubes of black rubber. A substance that did not conduct electricity. "Our first task is to figure out which of those cubes has proper wiring inside of it." It was a harder task to start with. The student would have to find a way to get past the rubbery exterior and into the wires that coiled in the center.

  4. Kycen looked at Cilea as she looked through her notes still with a smirk on his face as he took some peeks of her notepad. He was seriously confused on her notes being in a music lyric format, but he just guessed she was challenged by regular note and can only remember through music. His amber eyes glanced at her when she told him what to get from the desk near the teacher’s desk. Nodding to her request, he got up and walked over to the desk to pick up one of the wooden tablets as the other students stared. Now he was wondering if he did something wrong or something.

The teacher finished his lecture a while ago and told the students they could start, but yet the only one that was truly brave enough to go up was Kycen, which scared him as he stared at the class holding a tablet in his hands. Quickly Kycen returned to his seat next to Cilea with three rubber cubes pondering on what they were suppose to do with these, but shortly his question was answered. Cilea mention what their objective was with the cubes, which seemed to be a hard task to accomplish. “So, how are we going to do that?” Kycen ask curiously to see if she had any thought on this.

  5. Cilea had to fight to suppress a giggle as everyone watched Kycen go up and claim a tablet. And for a split second she was afraid that she may have in fact skipped a step and was now sending Kycen out to make a fool out of himself. Thankfully not, it wasn't until he sat down again that the rest of the class finally built up the courage to do the same and Cilea let herself relax again.

She leaned forward towards the tray in front of Kycen, reached out and picked up the cube closest to her. She started examining it on all six sides, rotating it in her hands. "I'm not really sure." She admitted, not ashamed that magical abilities weren't her forte. She tested the cube for weak points with her hands, it took the pressure, curbing beneath her finger tips but quickly returning to it's proper shape as soon as she released it.

"We need to find a way to get our magic past the shell." she mused out loud. "Once inside," she held the cube up to her left eye, "we can follow the wires with our magic until we find the flaw." It had sounded like a good idea, but now that it had left her lips she was feeling doubtful. She twisted her tall ears around, trying to catch ideas being past around at other tables but she couldn't pull out the individual words from the noise.

  6. Kycen looked Cilea, who just leaned to study the tray and equipment they had. Shifting in his seat to lean and observe the cube. Slowly his eyes scanned the object for it weak points. It just dawned on him about the material was rubber. Rubber was made from a plant, which would be classified under the biology category though in magic it would be in biokinesis. Kycen glanced up at Cilea once again smiling, but just as he was about to say something, he went silence staring at her.

He observed her closely as her ears moved looking for answers among others. She was rather cute to his opinion with her short green hair that revealed her eyes more in her bluish skin. Kycen blushed when he realize he was staring and drool at her. Quickly shaking his head to snap out of that fantasy to tell her something, but got right back in. This time he muttered something that couldn’t really be made out, but his eyes showed the awing expression within them. “Gawd… you’re so beautiful…” Kycen muttered last before going from aqua green to a purplish red color. “Um… I mean…” He stuttered before giving a sigh of defeat. “Sorry Cilea. I don’t know what came over me there.”

  7. At first Cilea didn't notice the fact that Kycen had been staring at her, she was too busy trying not to look like a fool in front of him. When she did catch him out of the corner of her eye she felt herself blushing. She knew she had a relative level of attractiveness, but she wasn't used to any sort of outward acknowledgment of it.

Wake up Cilea, don't let this noiti make you squirm. He'll just sweet talk you into something. Old advice from an even older friend ran through her head. She wasn't going to let herself be played so easily.

Her ears jerked forward as soon as he muttered, probably words that were only intended for himself. Her eyes narrowed at him, an expression of threatening harm mixed with her regular playfulness. "Well it better un-come over you." she insisted. "We have a case to deduce." She calsped both hands over the rubber cube in her hands and sent a small shock of electricity out of her finger tips. As soon as the magic left her palms it was absorbed instantly by the rubber covering. So that removed the simpliest option from the list of possibilities. It was worth a try.

All the while she watched him from the corner of her eye. Was he going to give up after her little reprimand or would his sigh of defeat prove to be a simple ruse?

  8. Kycen gave a quick yipping whimper, when he heard her threatening remark to him, but it also sounded playful, which was odd. Although when she stated that they had the problem to get solved snapped him out of his fantasy world. He gave a nod and remembered what he was truly going to tell her before that little interruption. “Oh… I have a crazy idea. Maybe I could create a big enough hole to the telsa core by spreading it since it is technically a plant that is under biokinesis.” He mentioned to Cilea to see what her opinion would be on this idea.

  9. He seemed to have decided to give up on the flirtation trail that he first set out on. She wasn't sure if he had no back bone and she had crushed him beneath her refusal to play along or if he was simply being respectful to her wishes.

She thought about his suggestion about opening up the cube for a bit. It didn't seem like the electrokinesis way to go about it but it sounded like a plan, which was more then they had before.

"Why not?" She shrugged and extended her arm holding the rubber cube towards him so that he could do his thing.

  10. Did she accept his crazy idea? That was new, usually people think he is either insane or was dropped onto his head when he was born. She made him blush lightly then nodded to her before taking the cube and tried his magic. Kycen closed his eyes as he concentrated on opening a hole big enough for Cilea to send a charge down to see if this was a good telsa coil or not. The rubber seemed to comply with his methods at first, but there was something wrong. He was finding much resistance on opening it. He tensed up on his muscles as he concentrated harder to try and open this cube.

After what seemed like hours, which really were minutes of trying Kycen stopped then looked down at the table. He was sweating from his trial and he looked over at Cilea embarrassed that he wasn’t skilled enough to separate the rubber from the coil. The teardrop tattoo under his left eye glisten up with his sweat and the light above them. “I should have known my plan wouldn’t have worked…” He muttered about himself like he was trash to himself.

  11. Cilea waited in muted silence as Kycen attempted to magic the cube, interested to see a magic other than her own. The surface started to ripple and shift but over the next few seconds it grew completely solid once again. She noticed the effort he had put into it, seeing the sweat on his face, so she had to give him props for trying.

"Ahha, I see you've found the restrictions on the cubes Highwyn." Cilea jumped in her seat, the teachers voice came out from behind them, he must have been standing there since Kycen had started trying to manipulate the cube and neither of them had noticed him. "Just electrokinesis today. Keep thinking about it." At that he walk away to move amongst the other students and Cilea relaxed again. She was often terrified that her teachers would figure out that she didn't know anything about the magic that lived in her veins.

"Would have been helpful if he had mentioned that earlier." Cilea whispered to Kycen as the professor walked away. "But hey, bright side, nothing at fault with you!" Cilea hating seeing people feeling down and that was all she could say in hope that Kycen wouldn't be so down on himself.

"So we've figured out that we can't get past this rubber shell. Well not through force anyway." Again Cilea glanced around the class, happy to find that this time everyone else seemed to be struggling just as much as them. "Somehow we need to get the electricity to form away from out body, you know, and like appear inside the cube." The more Cilea was rambling on, the more she felt like she was sounding like some drug addled teen. It's a regular part of her thought process.

  12. Kycen let out sigh still before shivering from the sudden words of his teacher behind him. He quickly looked back at him shocked. “Restrictions?” Kycen stuttered wondering how long the teacher had been standing there. Probably when he started to attempt his biokinesis technique. When the teacher told him to use only electrokinesis and to think about solving the problem of the cube. Kycen’s eyes shifted over to Cilea and noticed little things that pointed she was scared of something else than just the teacher sneaking up on them.

“What are…” He started to speak just as she spoke telling him that the teacher should have told them earlier, which made him smile with a small laugh. Her comment made him blush before he moved in a flirty gesture to her. His body continued to try as his mind was focused at the task at hand. “Thank you Cilea.” Kycen told her before going back to think on the solution as he listen to comment about getting passed the rubber shell, but not by force like some of the students in the class were doing. Some were trying to rip it apart as others were chewing on it. Their attempts made him laugh quietly before he set his gaze onto their own cube.

Cilea’s last statement gave him another idea, but before he blurt it out he checked their equipment which was the tray, two cubes, instructions and a paper clip. Kycen looked at her smiling greatly. “I have another idea… for sure to work.” He mentioned before taking the paper clip and held it up to her. Before he said anything about his idea he looked at the instructions to make sure on something. He glared at the teacher then looked at her. “You know those rods they use for lightning?” He asked her curiously to see if she’ll catch his idea.

  13. He seemed to relax again at her reassurance which made her feel a little better, she was good at that at least. She propped her elbow up on the table and rested her chin in her hand. She watched as he went over their tools again, wondering how is brain worked and why her's didn't seem to want to work in the same way.

Her features picked up when he picked up the paper clip and started talking. "Do you think you can get the paper clip through the rubber?"

It seemed liked a really smart idea but she wondered if the paper clip would be strong enough and sharp enough to make it through the rubber shell. She picked another one of the cubes, discretely sending her magic out and around it as she did with the other one, looking for some kind of sign.

"Then once through we can send our electricity through the rod right?"

  14. Kycen smiled before nodding to her question. “I know I can.” He said with sheer confidence as he took the paperclip and worked to get it to be straight enough to look like a rod. As his eyes gazed at her, she was messing with the other cube to figure if there was a way through without his idea, but when it seemed to fail she asked him about the plan. “Yes, just send the lightning through and it should it the coils inside.” He said to reassure her as Kycen slowly took the paper clip and pierced the rubber. Slowly he worked on the cub he had.

After a few moments later the paperclip reached its destination with a cost though. Kycen’s thumb was bleeding lightly and he nodded to Cilea to proceed with the idea of sending her electricity through the rod.

  15. [ooc]Did a quick Kycen doodle, hope I didn't miss anything major, wasn't really sure what the lines around his right eye would look like.[/ooc]

Cilea watched as Kycen's nimble fingers slowly worked the metal wire through the out rubber shell of the cube. She took the cube offered to her, a little hesitant to carry on what Kycen had started. It wasn't until it was in her hands that she noticed the hint of blood on his finger.

"You're hurt! She exclaimed, but not loud enough for the whole class to hear. She quickly put the cube back now and pulled her shoulder bag onto her lap. Sinking her hand inside she began to pull out pens, head phones, wallet and other small items until she pulled out a small metal container. She popped the lid open with a snap and pulled out a small band-aide.

"Here, give me your hand." She asked, unwrapping the bandage was that decorated with colourful artistic splashes over a black background. There was probably a first aide kit somewhere in the room but Cilea had a habit of carrying around a few band aides of her own. She liked to plan to be ready for any situation.

  16. Kycen smiled at her before she exclaimed about his little unfortunate event with his thumb. It didn’t hurt it was just he was strong in his earth technique. He was taught in order to use each element he had to think of each aspect of the element. That was extremely hard for Kycen since he was broken from his past to make a steady stream with his elements. All of a sudden he snapped back to reality when Cilea was pulling out stuff out of her bag. A metal container? First Aid? This girl was very well prepared and when she asked for his hand made him go very bright red.

After what seemed an eternity of blushing, he slowly moved his hand over to her so she could tend to it. A little drizzle of blood streamed down his thumb. Kycen watched her closely as she bandaged him up. “You seem… very well prepared. That is beautiful like you.” He said with a kind smile as he looked at her eye to eye. “Thank you.”
