Day:44th Month: Mia (Winter) Year: 81378 It was a fine late winter night in the Calamarha swamp as Skalrock went through it. The moon was shining full. Making Skalrock Say" thank god there is no enemies around" he said that because on night like this he is very visible. For that his scales have the tendency to take on the color of the brightest light (except for the sun that just makes his scales do shiny multicolor thing) in this case the moon. So he must look a bright silver-white. So Skalrock walked on. After awhile Skalrock said to him self" I was told this place was nice at this time of year…." Then Skalrock herd something move behind him. Skalrock, scared shitless at the movement behind him, swung around and yelled “who the hells there!!" (OOC: hope thats good. if theres any thing wrong tell me so i can improve for next time.)
()()( - Sorry I'm late. ;] B|( - "Nice? Oh, cully. Whomever told'ja that must of wanted ye dead," came a soft whispery voice from just above Skalrock's head. The voice, of course, belonged to the Swampland Shriker herself. Kakosenas in the flesh. She'd just leapt up into a half-dead, but still sturdy tree, no doubt her sudden movement catching his eye and alerting him to her presence. But that was okay. She'd been trailing him for a while now and it had been almost time to break her cover anyway. She dug her talons into the soft rotting bark and gazed at the arden for several pregnant moments. The male pendragon before her seemed to glow underneath the moonlight. It had been his appearance, the bright shimmering of his scales, that had caused Kakosenas to abandon her previous route and duties to take hastily after him. His scales were pretty. Very pretty. Which was rather alluring and mesmeric to this sparkle-hoarding female. Not to mention that every time she shifted her position ever so slightly, they seemed to subtly change colours. They glittered like live things! Kakosenas' bright yellow eyes reflected back some of the male's already reflected light, completely absorbed for the time being. "This swamp, at any quarter o' the year is a deadly place," Kakosenas murmured, then smiled brightly, the tips of her canines flashing in the darkness.
OOC:thats all right. IC: "Nice compared to other places I have been and I didn't say it was not deadly and the person that told me that well he probably did want me dead... But thatÂ’s not important. What is important is who are you and what are you doing fallowing me!?" After that Skalrock took time to look at the strange female. She looked like she was in this swamp awhile, A long awhile, her fur was matted some places cut in others yet other places looked like she or something else ripped it out. She looked under fed and then the wind shifted... the smell, yet faint, that came off this person was... horrible it smelled like she died or killed something and has yet to bath its blood off. Then he got to her face, above her left eye was a marking (Skalrock swears he saw that marking some were before), her eyes (a glowing yellow) were staring at him oddly and that smile was worrying him too. This made him shiver and made him flap his massive wings. Then he remembered something someone told him 'beware of the beast that lives in the swamp she likes shiny things my friend so she might like you but you might not like her' why did this small pendragon make him think that. He thought that the beast was some animal that liked shiny things. He herd of such things before. But no. that warning, for some reason, was regerding to this pendragon.
"Who am I?" Kakosenas echoed back. She slid down from her perch to land softly on the ground. The water-logged surface gave away a little to her weight. This particular patch of land was rather mossy... a ripe green sort of moss yet in several areas it was starting to die and turn a sickly brown. She took several slinking steps towards him before stopping and tilting her head in a questioning mannar. "No... I think the real question is, what creeping creature are you?" She queried, her words wrapped up inside of a venomous hiss. Her talons sunk into the sparse vegetation as she continued to stare at him. She'd never seen someone quite like this, not with scales of this calibre anyway. How hard would it be to make him part with them? A faint laugh fell out of her muzzle as the shadow-less Evil One considered this.
"I am Skalrockathes morana, my dear friend. I guess you could say i am a freelance adventurer, Looking for something to do, I was told this place would occupy me....." then Skalrock saw something that he did not like at all. "ThatÂ’s interesting you are hiding something from me?" What Skalrock saw was the faint image of something behind Kakosenas something Skalrock only sees when something is hidden from site via illusion spell. Skalrock does not like this at all so he did something about it. "so you hide something lets find out what...." then Skalrock, in a chant/yell, says "<span style='color:gray'>las fhus et heppam ra taam!</span>" then Skalrock puts out his hands then a glow happens on Skalrock moves down his arm to his hand... then a blazing white lite hits Kakosenas and forms a ball around her. As that happens Skalrock says "Do not worry this wont hurt much..." then the ball explodes sounding like glass braking. As the energy goes away Kakosenas stands there with wings reviled... Skalrock looked shocked. then he said "why would you put such a powerful spell on to hide your wings!? Theres nothing wrong with them."
Kakosenas studied this stranger’s features – Skalrockathes rather, he had a name now. He was looking for something to do was he? Well, he most certainly had found something indeed. So his hunt could officially be declared over. His expression changed abruptly though as Skalrock looked to the place where Kakosenas’ wings should have been. “Las fhus et heppam ra taam!" he’d said. Ramathian magic… but it was harmless enough. It wasn’t as if he were trying to curse or hex her after all. Kakosenas let the magic hit her. It tingled and actually made her flesh feel like it was crawling with electricity. She could have fought it, could have shoved it back upon Skalrock and laced it with something dark and deadly, but why not just let what is hidden be seen? The ball snapped and crackled before it finally exploded. The purple tufted one snarled; her wings unearthed from their invisible grave. She stretched them out, their purple and blue lining feathers seeming to almost glitter underneath the moon’s rays while the draconic membranes grew taut in between her wing struts. Kakosenas was perturbed. The fact that some stranger had the nerve to “violate" her privacy bothered her a lot. Her muzzle twisted up into a sinister smirk. “Nay. There is nothing wrong with them. Why would I cast such a powerful spell to hide them? Yarrr… why would ye cast one to reveal them? They stay hidden to breed misconception. Those foolish cullies that have wings… like yourself, thinking that they can just ‘fly away’ in order to escape from the likes of us." Kakosenas’ blue tongue flicked out to run over her teeth. “Her calling though. What makes you worthy of knowing my name?"
Skalrock smiled gravely then said "these wing are for fast transport with low energy costs I don't use them to run away from someone.... hell I don't run away at all the only time I go away in a fight is if blood shed is not needed" then Skalrock's expression changed to a little knowing as he said "i don't like it when people hide something about there being from me... plus that kind of spell is only as powerful as the spell is destroys" then Skalrock shakes his head as he says "what makes YOU think that I can't know your name.... it is just courtesy but you don't look like the type that has that...."
Kakosenas' smirk tightened up into a scowling grimace. She didn't want, nor need a lesson in magic. What she wanted to know more about were his scales. Those shimmering beautifully shaped gems. Her talons flexed and dug into the soft moss. How hard would it be to skin him alive? He'd put up a fight, that much she knew she was guaranteed. Kakosenas shifted her weight then began to slowly pace back and forth, slinking around in a small arc before Skalrock. Her wings twitched in an agitated gesture. "Courtesy," she spat as she stopped in her tracks, "Courtesy is dead. The same goes for chivalry, in case ye weren't informed. Nay, those days are long since past. Those that find themselves wrapped up in such wasteful formalities..." the Evil One trailed off into silence as Skalrock's scintillating coat of colour swept away her words. She cleared her throat, then glanced up to meet his gaze. The shadow-less female hissed, then half whispered her belated reply. "Just call me Shriker."
"Courtesy is only dead to thoues who don't use it..." Skalrock trailed off his usual ranting when some one says that about courtesy. He trailed off because he thought of her name she gave him... Shriker. He heard that some were before... thatÂ’s it the old man that warned him about the beast that likes shiny thing. It was called Shriker. She is called Shriker he guesses now. This realization made Skalrock laugh and say "Wow youÂ’re the person I was told to stay far away from you don't look so dangerous... but then looks can be misleading" again Skalrock laughed. Then he thought why would she be so interested in him... ThatÂ’s it what the old man said, she likes shiny things, Skalrock got serious and said "So thatÂ’s it Shriker you like my scales" yes that was it the way she was looking at him told him that much. Skalrock smiled again this is going to be interesting Skalrock thought.
"Aye, aye, looks most certainly can be misleading." Kakos purred. She trailed one leg in front of the other slowly, her lemon coloured eyes gleaming in the sparse lighting as she did so. "So thatÂ’s it Shriker you like my scales" He'd said it, not her. A wide toothy grin broke across Kakosenas' muzzle. "Mm... I don't like your scales," she retorted with a gentle shake of her head, her voice dropping down into soft musical tones from an ancient and long since forgotten tongue. "I adore them. They're dazzling, that they are... splendid, now mingled with the moonlight. And they shift too... the colours she means. She can see white, and silver, red and violet..." Kakosenas took several venturing steps toward Skalrock. Generally, this wasn't how she did business. But then again, usually it wasn't a pendragon's entire pelage that caught her envious eye. More often than not it was just small trinkets, stones or jewels... things that you could easily snatch away. Sometimes there were fights; sometimes poor unfortunate souls died when her path crossed with theirs. She rarely ever even admitted that she even liked the objects that she was after... that was folly. That just told the opposition that you were interested and gave them the go ahead to drive up their prices or demands. This was different. Skalrockathes was different. He was rather big too and Kakosenas was dwarfed in comparison. If she had be mentally stable, and without what magic she possessed, she would have avoided an encounter with him altogether. But Kakosenas, she was different too. And it was these differences that drove her to do what she did. "I don't suppose you could, part with some, hm?"
Skalrock saw Shriker advance towards him, he did not move back, when she was near she asked the most interesting question. In most cases Skalrock would have been disturbed to such a question, but he was expecting it, so he said, wile drawing a dagger long enough to kill him if he were to plunge it into his chest "I am a good sport so I will give you a few scales... but thereÂ’s a problem with that. You see removing my scales is very difficult. For that..." Skalrock did the unthinkable, He took that dagger and slammed it into his chest as hard as he could... but instead of dieing as you would think. The dagger shattered. Skalrock looked like nothing happened all. Skalrock through the broken dagger away and finished what he was saying "...my scales are harder than steel. That dagger was iron. But you are welcome to try and get someÂ…"
Kakosenas withdrew a foot as Skalrock pulled out his dagger. Truthfully, she was surprised by his actions. If she had thrown that request at some others, they might have just laughed, or simply stared at her (or run away). But Skalrock, he was going to... he was going to... Kakosenas' eyes widened noticeably as he slammed the dagger into his chest. He should have been punctured, should have been laying wounded at the end of his weapon, but instead the dagger broke up into wasted fragments which he carelessly tossed away. With his demonstration done and explanation given, Kakosenas felt disappointment settling in. She coveted his colour-changing scales, but at the same time, she was growing rather wary and suspicious. Perhaps they were enchanted, and that's why they did away with the weapon so easily. Crumbled it. And if so, what would stop them from doing the very same to her talons? But he had invited her. Said that she was welcome to try. All it would take maybe was a bit of magic... yet still, she didn't want to fully reveal herself to this stranger. Was he mocking her? Trying to put her off guard? Start a fight? His message was unclear, and truth be told, she didn't trust him at all. After a while, she gave her head a slight shake. "If you can't remove them yourself with your dagger, what makes you think that I can?"
"Your right I can't remove them with a dagger. But I did not say I could not remove them..." With that he unsheathed his great glowing shiny sword. It was 6 feet hilt to tip. And slammed it into the ground... then said" With this sword i can remove my scales Easily... But I won't. Because when I broke that spell that was hiding your wings I found that your powerful is this type of sorcery..." Suddenly the dark swamp got darker and Skalrocks scales turned black and seem to take in all light... then a ray of pure dark death energy hit the nearest living tree. The tree turned to molding death. When the swamp lighting was too normal and Skalrock scales were normal. He said with all seriousness " That type of magic I am good in but you might be better so thatÂ’s why I won't remove my own scales I want to see if you can..."
Kakosenas took in a sharp hissing intake of breath. She didn't like where this stranger was leading her. She'd watched as he'd wilted a tree, draining it's life force and killing it on the spot. Bravo ol' chap, bravo. Picking on a little helpless tree. What did it ever do to you besides grow? The swamp had grown a few shades darker despite the bright moons, but that was expected. Such spells were often encased in murk that liked to linger temporarily whenever they were cast. It had cleared up though... leaving a decayed and dejected former tree in its wake. Death, Darkness, and Destruction walked hand, in hand, in hand. Again, Kakosenas shook her head. She wasn't the least bit intimidated by his show. The tufted female had been the cause of many more things far worse than the death of a plant. Yet, why was this arden asking her to do something that he most likely already knew she could do? Something that he most likely already sensed. It had to be a challenge, and one that she would rightfully decline. "Kakos is not some creature here to entertain you, cully, nor yours to command," she paused, then added, "If'n she were to cast something, I doubts ye'd want it touching you, powerful as you are or not. Tainted magic t'is."
Skalrock lifted his sword from the ground, Staring into the blade he said absentminded "odd I wonder who Kakos is... maybe its her..." Then Skalrock came to and look at Kakosenas. Then said "youÂ’re right youÂ’re not a creature to entertain me nor do I want entertainment. What I want is to see how powerful you are and the perfect test is to remove one of my scales. Do not worry about harming me I have been through hell... in a sense..." With that Skalrock laughed strangely.
"Nay. I won't play subject in any of your tests, cully." Kakosenas hissed firmly as her eyes started to take on a more fierce light. She didn't want to prove herself, nor did she see any real reason to. Besides, his scales weren't worth it. True, they were beautiful... but at the moment she was walking a fine and dangerous line between cunning and sheer stupidity. "If you won't remove one yourself, I'm going to take my leave of you." She stated haughtily as her tufted-tail swayed angrily. Kakos had wasted enough time as it was, and if Skalrock wasn't going to be willing, she'd have to go after him, perhaps forcefully, another time.
Skalrock, feeling a little disappointed said "As you wish. I will leave to your self. But take this..." Skalrock through a small crystal orb in front of Kakos. Then finished what he was saying "...that will tell you were I am at all times all you have too do is look into it. Until we meet again." Skalrock retrieved his sword. Made a few hand movements and was gone in a flash of light.
