// Day: 2 \\ // Quarter: Tria \\ // Year: 81377 \\ -- Morning in Chafuo was almost always wonderful. As the sun rose in the east, it cast a faint shine onto the beaches that lined the coast. The crystaline waters that had been blackish-blue with night now became blue as the sky here usually was. It was a beautiful sight, for the few who woke early enough to view it. One of those select few was a young Pendragon called Ayokye Rheme. Anyone who looked at her could tell she was the type who rose with the sun but didn't fall asleep until well past dark. In the early morning sun, her chesnut hued coat looked to be more of a blackish-gray. At this point in time, she was running along the beach, close to the waters edge. She was a tad reluctant to wade into the ocean, but after a small amount of thinking, decided to take the plunge. And this she did with a small, almost feline leap. She giggled as the cold water touched her pelt, then began to swim further out into the waves. Suddenly she darted back onto the shore. She watched for a moment, then ran back toward the rolling tide. As the waves drew nearer, she scrambled back up, laughing in utter bliss. She was chasing the waves, daring them to come closeer to her and then running away from them. She had played this game many times with her parents, but never alone. It seemed to her, either way, the game was equally fun. Still, she couldn't help but feel a bit lonely. Being small she had a slight fear of being all by herself, and so she hoped company would come along soon.
From the break of dawn he was still in the skies casting out his gigantic wings, soaring through the skies as if he was the air its self. Laughed to himself being the only creature out at this time in the morning. But upon gazing down on the shoreline and coming tides he noticed a small dot that was dashing back and forth from the tide. He glared as he continued to watch the strange object mess with the coming waters. The jet black pendragon circled above the beach where the object was playing and continued to watch with delight. As he watched this display of childish game from the skies, his massive body casted a shadow on the beach below as the sun shown down on his figure. Making it as if he was a large predator who was going to drop on a lively meal. A though crossed his mind then he smirked as he though of it. In doing so the male 'dragon flips over in the air and turns face down towards the sands of the beach then folded his wings against his body. Being the freefall towards the beach.
-- Ayokye saw not the large ebony PenDragon circling overhead, only his massive shadow. Like all young things, she had a distinct fear of the unknown. This shadow, approaching over the horizon, seemingly was the unknown personified and spiraling down towards her at an alarming rate. She stopped and let the chilly waves catch up and roll over her paws, her mouth falling ajar at the sight of the huge PenDragon flying close by. She shivered at the sight of him, but decided that this dragon just might be friendly. Though his appearences would certainly tell otherwise. She gulped, closed her eyes, and took a deep breath. Even though she wasn't supposed to talk to strangers, she was going to. After all, in her eyes, every rule existed to be broken. She opened her eyes again, and sighed. Perhaps she shouldn't. This fellow cut a fairly intimidating figure, and how was she to know he wasn't some killer out on the prowl for his next victim? She glanced down at the water briefly. She was small, he was big. It was as simple as that. He could overpower and murder her easily, and she wouldn't even be able to fight back. But still, he wasn't exactly screaming death threats, so she went back to her original choice. She would try and talk to this stranger. "Hewwo mister. What are you doing up so early in the morning?" She called out.
Just before he crashed into the soft sands of the beach he turns his body back up and spreads his massive wings. Catching the wind beneath them. Drops down onto the ground gently and closes his eyes as he lowered his head. From the sight of him, his body could very easily be the size of ten pendragons put together. The large black wings created a cover over the beach and the small dragon near where he was rested at. Upon hearing her soft voice he lets out a heavy sigh then opens his left eye that gave off a red aura unlike other 'dragons that had blue or other coloured eyes. Smirks then lowers his head down near her and gazes into her eyes. "Hally ni pauj. Fall, vliemd sha fhyla medhs yos ybaj sha djaus taut kost rukc ym glukat sy lump ump jats vyj u vaf thyjs hyojt." His voice was so deep that it was calm in a way.
Ayokye gasped. This PenDragon was much larger than he'd appeared to be from up high. She shrunk back a little, frightened by his massive form. His red orbs only added to the young dragons fear. And now, he was speaking in some strange language that she didn't fully understand. How would she know if this male meant her harm? She did however, know what that language was called. It was ramathian. How she knew, she wasn't certain. Her parents never taught it to her. She hadn't yet been to school. Probably she knew because she'd heard her parents speak in that strange dialect. At any rate, this big fellow was just plain scary to her. He'd come falling out of the sky and then talked to her in a strange toungue. He was far bigger than she'd hoped. Not exactly the company she'd hoped for. But still, he was here, and it wasn't like she could make him disappear or anything. She gulped once more, and crouched low to the ground. Her whole body shook as she replied to him.. "S-sorry sir... I don't understand y-y-you.."
Grins a bit at her as she cowarded before him then draws back his head away from her. Turns his head away from her and clears his throat. Goes to speak again but it came out a little course then clear. "Hello my dear. Well, flying the whole night out over the great seas cuts back on places to land and rest for a few short hours." Turns back to her slowly then drops down gently against the ground and curls his legs up beneath himself. "Forgive...me...if I scare you...", licks his lips a bit and closes his left eye slowly.
Ayokye smiled. Now at least she knew whether he wanted to eat her or not. What had before been an expression of intimidation and malice on his face was now a soft, benevolent one. She sighed, mostly out of relief, and partly out of being a bit tired. "Sorry sir. I was scared of you cause you are so big. And your shadow-thing was really scary." She said, grinning from ear to ear. She yawned once then turned to the ever-rising sun. The shine on the water was increasing with each moment. Then, once more she was in the water, this time diving and splashing around for all she was worth. She went to bat some water onto her new aquaintence, then remembered that she certainly didn't want to make him mad. So, pulling herself onto shore again, she decided to try and have a conversation with this mascu. "Guess what mister? My mommy says I'm obnoxious. What ever that means." She said, flicking her tail a bit.
Opens his eyes again then turns to face her. Smirks as he looks at her then sighs slightly. "I have that effect on a lot of other 'dragons as well." Laughs aloud, trying to be as soft as possible so that his loud voice wouldn't harm the younger 'dragon's ears to much. Shakes his head after a bit then lays it down on the soft sand. Continues to stare at the female out the corner of his eye then winks at her. "Well, I believe that your mother is wrong, lass. You aren't obnoxious, but you do seem to be fairly curious." Closes his eyes again and relaxes against the sand as he listens to her soft little voice and continues to carry on the conversation. "So, do you have a name, lass?"
She grinned and did a little dance. "My name is Ayokye, and my mommy says I shouldn't give my last name to strangers. She giggled and ran a little circle around him. Here at last, was what she wanted. A playmate. But of course, she would have to teach him her favorite games, and show him all of her favorite places to romp about and relax. She didn't care if he was much older than she was. He was here, and that made him her new best friend. Then, she saw something that fascinated her. He had a flame on his tail. Her father had one too, but he never stayed around long enough for her to ask about it. Her young mind was indeed, as the other dragon had said, curious. Not to be misleading, she knew very well that all male PenDragons were born with the tail-flames. However, she had questions. Did the flames hurt? Did they set things on fire? Bored with just staring off into space, she decided to ask him. "Hey sir, does that tail-fire thing hurt you?"
Smirks at the fact that Ayokye enjoys to have his company. Licks his lips a bit and sighs slightly waving the flame at the end of his tail as he lied there relaxing. "Well, you can call me...Dreed...no more of that sir or mister stuff." Grins then opens his eyes a bit as he looks about for her. Looks over his shoulder at her and laughed a bit as she watched his tail flame. Hearing the question asked about it kind of threw him off but got the whole idea back into his head about it. "This flame here is natural and so it really couldn't hurt me do to the fact that I was born." Drops it on the ground beside her and the red flame burned brightly. "Contact with it couldn't harm you, so no worries if you touch it." Dreed lies his head back against his forepaws and closes his eyes again relaxing.
Ayokye giggled again and touched his tail-flame curiously. He was right! It didn't hurt! She took her paws off of it, then she nodded to his latest sentiment. "Ok mister.. er.. I mean Dreed. Mr. Dreed.. I'll call you that. Mommy says I'm supposed to call big dragons by their proper titles, never their first names. I did that once and daddy spanked me. She grins and blushes, slightly embarrased from mentioning her mistake. Her parents had tried hard to teach her proper manners and such, and for the most part ayokye was a good listener. But other times, extra care was needed to show her what was right and what was not. The previous incident was from when Ayokye was quite little indeed, and so it was excused pretty quickly by her father and mother, but other times they had been mad at her for quite a while. She sighed, and looked over to the water again. "Yep! So.. what you do for a living, Mr. Dreed?"
Winces a bit and opens his eyes to the fact that her parents was so hard on her about stupid things like manners. Looks over at her and grins slightly. "Well, I really don't care about having a proper title to my name, so just call me Dreed please. Hearing it like that makes me feel like an old dragon." Laughs lightly and pats her on the head with his huge paw gently then places it back against the ground. When he heard what she had to ask about next he looked out at the water as well and glares slightly at the seabirds. "I'm a hired...hand. I get paid to do jobs that involve getting others hurt very badly." Shakes his head as he spoke of his job and drags his forepaw against the sand slowly leaving deep claw marks in the sand.
She frowned. She knew what a hired hand was. Her dad had been one.. though he'd tried very hard to mask it.. he couldn't keep his own daughter from finding out what he did for a living. So he'd changed jobs. Became an animal trainer. Still, it hadn't changed the fact that Ayokye knew that he'd done very bad things.. and she had been a witness to it once.. She shook her head violently at the memory. Then she looked upward, to the sky. Violence. Even though she was but a child, she knew very well that it was all pointless bloodshed. Her father had said to her that when she got older, she'd understand. But who could understand something like this? Cetainly not a dragon so young as herself. "I know what that is.. my daddy was one.. changed his job after I saw him.. you know.. hurt someone.." She said quietly.
Nods slightly and looks down onto her as she looked to the skies. Sighed and lied his head back against his forepaws. Licks his snout and closes his red eyes again. Listening to the sounds of the waves and cries of seabirds. "There is no way for me to go back and try to do something else. I don't think I could change and block it out. To forget about all the pain I have caused." Dreed smiled as he spoke of the pain then it melted away into a calm look.
"Yes.. I guess that is okay.. you seem nice enough.." She said, turning back to him, half-smiling. She sighed. Dreed seemed friendly.. but would he turn on her? She wasn't sure.. She decided to ask. "You.. you're not here to hurt me, are you?" She said softly.. // OoC \\ -- Sorry for the crappy post.. lack of inspiration.. will get better soon!
Opens his left eye and looks at her as she asked the question then shakes his head slowly. "No, I won't hurt you, lass. I'm not a monster as many of the other pendragons had made me out to be." Reaches a paw out and caresses Ayokye's head gently with a few pets then draws back his paw. "No worries...", lifts his head up and stretches his neck a bit then his wings slowly and returns to a relaxed state.
Ayokye grinned slightly. This dragon was a fairly kind soul, for being what he was. And as far as mis-judgements went, Ayokye knew from experience that they could be extremely hurtful. Many often took her to be nothing more than a stupid child. She was dreadfully sorry that she'd even asked such a thing. After all, Dreed had been extremely sweet to her so far. He'd been almoset fatherly in nature. She wondered how she could even ask him to forgive her. Still, she had to try. After all, it was only polite. "I'm sorry Dreed.. I shouldn't of even asked.." She said in a hushed tone.
As Dreed heard her soft voice he grinned gently for reasurrants that it wasn't nothing to be a shamed of asking. Opens his eyes again and looks at her out the corner of his left one. "No reason to be sorry my dear. It was very helpful to get such a hidden sceret off of my chest. So really, I should thank you for asking about it." Closes his eyes again and draws his tail against his side as he lied there then licks his lips a bit. "Your a sweet cub...I would give anything to have one just like you." Relaxes his paw against the ground and turned onto his side as he laid in the soft sands.
Ayokye blushed at the compliment. Dreed had very nice manners. She admired that. Especially since most of her childhood had been spent learning proper etiquette. Indeed she was fairly polite with all adult dragons. Other cubs, on the other hand.. She giggled and skip-hopped about in the waves. "Hehee! Dreed! Come play in the waves with me!" She called out to the older PenDragon.
Opens one of his eyes somewhat tired like and smirks as she calls out to him. "How bout give me 15mins. lass, Okay?" Closes his eyes slightly and continues to relax against the sands. "Then I come and play with you!"
