The ‘–‘s mean your Trisk missed it’s Flitter Target, and the ‘x’ means that your Trisk caught it’s flitter target. The Flitter your birds are to catch are released one at a time from small cages, and the bird takes off from your wrist and tries to catch the flitter. You can give the reason your bird missed when you role play out it’s catch attempt. He honestly should have started Fel’s hunt trial performances long before this. He was probably the oldest bird taking wing today. The judge gave a small nod and readied his hand on the door to the flitter box, at the same time Turrush raised his wrist and told Fellian "Sy Femd!". He took off easily, with one powerful down stroke as the flitter rocketed out of the box. "Homs." The little flitter was lively, and dodged several grabs of Fellians talons before vanishing into the trees that weren’t far away. Turrush signed and gave a short blast on his whistle. "Fellian, Rukc." Once Fel was back on his wrist, the judge places a new flitter box on the launch pad. The judge gave a nod to Turrush, who sent Fellian into the air. On the first down beat of Fellians wings the flitter was out. The little flitter was panicked by the presence of an airborne hawk, and didn’t have time to get itself back together before the talons of the Trisk snuffed out the flame of it’s life. Turrush smiled broadly at the little hawk as he called out "Rukc." to the hawk, who returned to his wrist proudly, the flitter held in his Talons. "Excellent work, Fel." The final flitter was loaded into the release pad, and Turrush was ready to send Fellian out. At the nod of the judge, he sent Fel into the air. The Flitter was once again released. The little red bird stayed low to the ground, and evaded the talons of the Trisk. The hawk screamed his fury at the smaller bird, and gave chase, it’s larger wings covering ground much faster. Fellian got another chance at the flitter, but missed his grad again just before it vanished into the trees and was gone. It was only a few more seconds before Fellian returned to Turrush, flitter-less. "A good try, boy." He scratched the bird’s neck and ruffled the feathers there. Turrush & Aven: Turrush was up near the podium once again, this time with a White and Gold Trisk on his wrist. She was less devoted to him than Fellian, but a much younger bird. Turrush readied himself, and the judge nodded. The words "Aven, Sy Femd." sent her skywards as the flitter was released. Seconds later the little white hawk had her claws in the flitter and carried it proudly back to Turrush. The pair readied themselves for the next flitter, who was already in it’s box and ready for the launch. The judge gave the cue and Aven was in the air. Once again, the flitter was caught almost as quickly as the flitter was out of the box. Aven once again returned to Turrush with a great deal of pride. "Excellent, girl." That was a qualifying score, her first!
Yin and Jev: "Khem og, lyba, iyo'll py vema." Yin murmured encouragingly to her little warbird, perched on the wrist of her Sunhawk mistress. Jev wasn't used to being around large groups of people, so the pendragon didn't expect all that much from her bird. The trisk wasn't on edge or nervous, it was just something that seemed wrong to Yin and she wasn't going to ignore it in the hopes that her bird would get over it before the flight on her own. The rules for this competition had been speedily read, but the tribeswoman understood their meaning. Jev would have to have a good set in order to qualify and she expected a good showing out of this particular, brash young lady. The trisk was quite competitive and her owner had more concerns about this overly confident bird than she did about the more settled Salruq. The female 'dragon pulled the hood off of her bird early to make sure the bi-color was ready for this. All of it. The noise, the other pendragons, everything out of the norm and disconcerting. Jev gave a curious, strange chirrup, unsettled, feathers ruffling out in an agitated fashion. "Auti, fujrejp." It was said in a smooth tone that still commanded attention, something that the tribal raptor freely gave, settling, with a disgruntled bob of her head. As soon as they reached the podium, Yin gave a final smile to her trisk, running her hands across the jesses and making sure that they were not going to tangle in the bird's claws, before nodding. Jev was ready. Their first competition. Taking a deep breath, Sunhawk focused on the judge and nodded solemnly, jerking her wrist in a gentle motion at the same time, sending the bird to wing. "Vli Hedh." She said, a traditional manner for sending a bird up in the Tribal community. The flitter was released, a jagged blur of red against the pale blue sky. Jev startled, somehow unprepared for the little bird. Perhaps the uproar of pendragons present had set the white-and-gold on edge. Whatever it was, she didn't regain presence fast enough to catch the little bird. It was away before she even had a chance to try and dive. Upset at her failure, the bird was going to make a second attempt - no matter how far that took her - except for the sharp command that her master issued. "Sy na." It broke through the keen, predatory concentration of the bird of prey, who immedietely turned around and sped back to the gloved wrist of her trainer. Yin gave a soothing cluck, then gestured again at the judge to send a flitter up. This time she was right on the money. "Vli Hedh." A repeated command to fly and the slightest twitch upward of the pendragon's wrist and up the warbird went, descending on swift wings to grasp the second flitter in her claws. There was a whistle of pleasure and triumph from the trisk, who descended proudly to drop her prey at the feet of her Sunhawk trainer. That was how he had been trained, even if others thought it unproper. Jev moved with the flitter, spreading her wings in an arch of protection of her prey and gazing unblinkingly up at her master. This was the point when Yin usually took up the dead bird and offered a piece to her hawk. Instead, the bird trainer took a small hunk of meat out of her pocket, quickly exchanging it for the flitter, which she settled in the prey pouch she had across her hip. With a delighted "churr" of noise, the trisk consumed the offered treat, then ascended onto the wrist that was offered, head held high as she waited for what was next, expecting the hood, though realizing that there might be more hunting to be done. "Vli Hedh." Again, Jev went up. There was no hesitation, just a deadly force of speedy wings and sharp talons that snuffed the life of the flitter as if it was nothing. Which, to the trisk, it was. The procedure of earlier repeated itself. Bird dropped, guarded, treat rewarded, prey removed. An excellent set, in the Sunhawk's opinion. "You did well, Jev. Tulosa." Yin said with a warm smile, hooding her bird once more and walking away with pride in her eyes. Yin and Salruq: There wasn't much different about the approach of Yin the second time as compared to the first. Except, of course, for the fact that there was a different bird on her wrist. This one was a pure, molten gold in color. Lovely to behold, really, and she was rather proud of him. Even if he wasn't considered "rare", Salruq was an excellent bird. Easy to train and a lovely flyer, with a personality to match. She would have to breed him someday, as those genes were just too good not to pass on. That was the reason that she was going to breed Pax with Sashaj, though she had hesitated, considering breeding Salruq and Sashaj instead. However, Sash' had always preferred the "peacemaker" of their little family and wasn't much on the keen, warlike qualities of Salruq. It hardly mattered, ultimately, though, she would find him a mate, someday. Perhaps Jev, but she doubted it. The two were too alike to make a good pair, their offspring would be too aggressive. Unlike Jev, Salruq was used to crowds, and his own attention was focused entirely on what he was doing, though he looked around with sharp eyes to make sure no one was a threat to his person. Yin was his mother, as she had raised him since from the egg, and he wasn't about to let any harm come to her. Though it was more likely that he was also checking to make sure there were no flitters nestled among the watchers. Of course there weren't. Either that or their owner had hidden them skillfully, as the keen eyes of the trisk didn't catch anything. Which would be unusual, if they were there, and not hidden in a cage or somesuch. What sort of pendragon would bring their flitter to a trisk hunting competition, anyway? "Vli hedh ump fem u tulosa. Pym's las haj raus iu', ai?" She murmured to the bird. He rustled his wings as if understanding, bobbing his head in a way that also mimiced comprehension. Maybe he did, too. It wasn't as if Yin was beyond believing that he could. "Vli Hedh." She said, jerking her wrist and sending the gold trisk up. His eyes caught sight of his prey within an instant and he weaved a bit to be in a good dive position, before hurtling toward the ground, catching his bird with ease. A simple flare of his wings sent the hawk back upward, then flying swiftly to his mistress. There was a whistle of triumph louder than Jev's, pride evident in the way he dropped the bird, shoulders hunched to veil his victim beneath it. Yin did the same as she had with Jev, running a finger across his crop at the same time and nodding approvingly. Good. He would still be hungry enough to go for a second bird. "Vli Hedh." And for the last time, up went one of Yin's birds. At least it was the last time for this competition, though she wasn't sure about that at first. This time, the male had a bit of trouble, not maintaining altitude very well, then managing to regain it with surprising speed, and hurtling like a bullet into the body of the flitter, catching it on the wing, rather than diving, and grasping it in his cruelly curved claws. Carrying it back, he chirruped his pleasure, shifting his feet as he was given his final treat, then hooded. "Tulosa, pauj telbaj, tulosa." Very good sets for both of her birds.
Eka & Antirian 04 Eka looked around at the others here at the tournament. She was quit sure that she was the youngest one here. She took a few deep breaths and stood in the field, but it wasn’t just herself that was nervous, so was Antirian who was sitting on her wrist. Eka didn’t blame her, they weren’t used to being in such a big group. Her hawk seemed like she wanted to take wing and just fly back to school, even with the hood on. Eka hadn’t wanted her to get spooked by any thing while they were waiting for their turn. After she had watched the others go Eka knew it was her turn. She went and stood were everyone else had been before. Removed her hawks hood and looked towards the judge, he nodded.“Sy Femd" Eka called out, the hawk jumped into the air. At first they had had a few problems learning this command but after her hawk finally realized what she was suppose to do it all seemed to fall into place. The flittler was let out of the box “Homs" Eka said. Antirian hadn’t even seen it leave it wasn’t until she saw it flying off, she then went diving after it. Being late off the start had cost her, and Eka didn’t really mind. Seeing the little bird fly for it’s life like that almost made her wish it would have gotten away. “Rukc." The silver and gold hawk flew in a circle over her mistresses head then landed gracefully on her wrist. She stroked her head to let her know she wasn’t disappointed. Once again the judge nodded and Eka called her hawk back into the air. List time Antirian knew that the flittler would be coming and as soon as Eka yelled out “Homs" She was on the small birds tail feathers. She made a few lunges with her claws but she wasn’t able to catch the small bird. Once again she was called back. Eka knew that they wouldn’t be going to the next round, but they had one more try to prove that they could do it. Again Antirian took to the air ready for the hunt this time. This time Eka wasn’t really thinking of the small bird but that she knew that her trisk could so this. “Homs" She called again and this time Antirian dove down on the small bird and within a few seconds the bird was dead and in her claws. She then flew back to Eka and dropped it into her gloved paw when she held it out to her. She then gave her a small piece of meat as praise. She then walked off the demonstrating area opening it up for the next contestant.
09 : Nafel Isunari : Asarian : 006 : x/x/o Nafel shifted from foot to foot. She hadn't spotted any familiar faces from her hawking class, and she was feeling anxious. She glanced at the catalogue, and noticed that at least one 'dragon from her class was performing. She smiled at Eka's hawk, giving a small wave to the girl before she went to hunt. Nafel looked and noticed it was her turn, and looked to her trisk. The little silver hawk was shifting from foot to foot, apparently picking up on her owner's nervousness. Nafel knew that this probably was not the best way to compete, so she tried to calm down a little, if for nothing other than Asarian's well fare. Picking up Asarian from where she had perched inside her cage, Nafel walked into the place where the others had stood. She looked to the judge, who smiled at her and nodded. The flitter was released, a pretty little bird. Nafel felt bad for it, but she knew that Asarian would kill it quickly. She had begun to distance herself from the little jewel-birds, since that was what Asarian ate every day. Consuming live ones had given her practice for events like this. Taking a deep breath, she said as clearly as she could, "Sy femd." The silver hawk flew up, and Nafel had barely given the "Homs." command and begun to hold her breath when Asarian snuffed out the little food source and wheeled back, landing on the ground. Nafel held out her hand and Asarian stepped up, looking as proud as could be. After giving her due praise, Nafel stashed the flitter in her bag to feed Asarian later. The next flitter was released, and Asarian didn't wait for the command to go to wing. Nafel was sure that points would be taken off for it, but she was too busy concentrating on her bird's preformance to worry about it now. "Homs, Asarian." The bird swooped down from the fairly high altitude that she had attained, landing on and snapping the neck of the flitter. Nafel held out her hand, giving the "Rukc" command before petting Asarian. The second flitter was in about the same condition as the first, so Nafel put it next to the other stiff body in her bag. She did not especially enjoy that aspect of bird ownership, but Nafel accepted the good along with the bad. When the next flitter was released, Asarian responded and used the commands perfectly, but was too fast getting off of Nafel's wrist, and overshot the sluggish prey. It was too late for her to repair the mistake, and Asarian chose to let the prey get away to save her neck from running into something. Nafel didn't mind too much, she was tired of seeing the pretty little birds have their necks snapped. "Good job, Asarian." Nafel smiled and ruffled her bird's feathers, returning to her seat to feed her and make sure she hadn't injured herself in the last flight.
Thi and Panik (3) Thi looked about at the others competing. Panik stood on her arm as she noticed a few others. She saw her teacher and long time opponent in Flitter shows and many from her class. The judge placed a flitter cage on the launch pad and opened it. The Flitter zipped out. -Sy Femd- She ordered the gentle friend as her golden bird launched from her arm in one great stroke. Panik hovred in the air watching the Flitter swoop about. Her eyes intently focused. -Homs!- Thi yelled as Panik zooped off and caught the tiny thing in her talons almost instantly. Panik strutted around happily displaying the flitter from her beak. Thi lauhged and held her hand out for Panik who stepped up. When the next flitter was released Thi exclaimed -Sy Femd- Panik took off but rather than go after the little bird she landed in a tree and began to preen her feathers. Thi moaned as Panik did it with the next flitter as well. Thi held out her hand and called -Kyna- Panik flew back to her arm and Thi placed the hood over her head so Panik would not fly after any other flitters
07 : Katanya Shiretonz : Valguar : 015 : x/x/o ::Katanya, looking around at everyone around her, walked at a steady speed into the field, having her beloved Valguar perched on her forearm, she stopped at one section of the fiend and stood ready, waiting for the judges go ahead. she looked over and they seemed ready.:: ::Katanya prepared Valguar, speaking softly to him, the judge nodded and Valguar tore off, the flitter was released, taking off at a steady pace, Valguar spread his wings, determination in his eyes, he tore off after the flitter, coming up right behing it and snatching it in his razor sharp talons, he did a large circle to turn around and come back, gracefully landing on Katanya's forearm:: ::the judge nodded once again to Katanya, who prepared Valguar for this next attempt. he was proudly perched on her right forearm, looking around at the crowd, and other trisks. the judge walked to the crate, and released the second trisk, with this, Valguar rapidly took off, flying quickly to catch up to the small trisk, with a couple missed attempts to snatch the litthe flitter within his talons, the small flitter flew down closer to the ground, Valguar dove down, and snatched up the litthe flitter in his talons, causing the little animal little to no pain before it died. Valguar flew back up into the sky and came towards Katanya's forearm, and gracefully landed.:: ::Katanya looked to the judges with a very big smile on her face, Valguar looking all proud upon her forearm, she nodded and went off to the side to take her seat and wait for the results.::

Judge Rethian Vel'Carven: He walked and took a place next to the Launch platform. In his hands was a small box that those close to him could see was full of green ‘qualifying score’ ribbons. Once the gathered crowd had quieted, he began to speak. "I am happy to say that our first Hunt Trial here at Magi was a complete success. I would like to thank everyone for coming. And, I now get to award many young birds and handlers with their awards for Qualifying Scores in the Novice Category, which is the only one that flew today. Qualifying scores were earned by Turrush Sjoahaujs & Aven, Yin Sunhawk & Jev, Yin Sunhawk & Salruq, Katanya Shiretonz & Valguar, then, last but not least, Nafel Isunari & Asarian. Congratulations to you all. As a final note to the competition, Ebony Fang & Resina who are listed as the number 8 team in your catalog, have been disqualified as they do not appear to have arrived here today. I sincerely hope that no harm has befallen them on there way here and look forward to seeing them fly at other competitions." Turrush: Turrush was pleased as he walked forward and accepted his qualifying score award from the judge. Aven had flown well and he was pleased that he had achieved the score. Poor old Fel just hadn’t been quick enough to catch his quarry. Out of Character

People with QS's should collect there ribbons. Thi walked over to Turrush. Holding out a hand she said, Congradulations Professor She gave Panik a look I guess me an Panik just need to practice more
::Katanya listend closely to the judge, she could tell that Valguar was also nervous, everything just coming to a halt, she heard their names mentioned, she immediately stood, smiling, holding her beloved on her right forearm, she made her way up to collect her ribbon::
Nafel's face had fallen as the ribbon winners were announced, since she seemed not to have made it. Perhaps it was due to Asarian's jumping the gun on one of the trisks? When the judge called her name last, though, her face lit up. She turned to the bird now perched on her leg and grinned. "Hear that? We made it!" As bouncy and bubbly as could be, she picked up Asarian and walked over to the judge, gathering her ribbon with almost-whispered thanks. Nafel was not very loud even at the best of times. Nafel supposed that the only thing to really do now was to socialize among the others, since this was a chance to get to know other trisk trainers, and she set out to do just that. There was another female that had made a qualifying score in front of Nafel. that had responded to the name Katanya. Her bird had flown well, catching two of the three like Asarian. She seemed like a good enough dragon as any to talk to. Nafel, once the other had turned around, waved. "Hi! Katanya, right? I'm Nafel. Your bird flew well today, congratulations on your score. How long have you been training him?" This was more than Nafel ever said, almost, and was quite out of character. She was unusually happy, though, which probably explained it to those that knew her.
::Katanya, hearing all the chatter behind her, as she held her lovely green ribbon, she could hear, her name, she slowly turned to see Nafel standing before her, she smiled and listened to her inquiry:: not too long, he is still quite young, i hope to train him much better in the future, i believe it was luck, that Valguar can do so well, its almost as if we have a special bond ::Katanya smiled and nodded to Nafel, looking at her lovely Trisk upon her arm, Nafel too did quite well in the competition, getting two perfect catches in a row, she smiled and asked:: how long have you been training your Trisk? you both did very well today! ::Katanya was quite thrilled to have met someone, interested in the same activity as herself, she sigh in content.::
Out of Character

Jakkal, your ribbon is Green. "You did well for your first time in front of an audience. And Panik is a very green bird. She's only just been learning to fly to the hunt. She'll get better with practice."
Nafel smiled at the compliment. "Thank you. Asarian did most of the work, though. Heh." She smiled slightly. Remembering Katanya's comment about the "special bond", Nafel nodded. "I know what you mean about having a weird bond with them... it's unusual. They're very perceptive, much more than people give them credit for, I think. Asarian and I have only been training for a little while; we're in the beginning class at Janardian. It's been fun, it's definitely an interesting hobby." At the sound of her name, Asarian had perked up, but had gone back to attempting to dismantle the green ribbon once the conversation had moved on a little bit. At this point, Nurano emerged from the stands with a grin on his face. He waved slightly and walked over to Nafel, giving her a hug as best he could without also knocking Asarian off his mate's arm. "Good job! Oh, is this one of your classmates?" He turned and held out a hand to Katanya, introducing himself as Nafel's mate. "I'm Nurano Unraja. Nice to meet you... I don't think I caught your name?" He raised his eyebrows, waiting for a reply in his oh-so-polite way.
Yin waited until everyone else had retrieved their ribbons before getting hers. Both of her birds had placed, so there were a pair that she had to get, which she brought back to her equipment, dumping them into a bag without much regard for their "safety". It didn't matter to her if they got crumpled and crimped, it wasn't as if she was going to do more than put them in a box anyway. At least that was the most likely thing that was going to happen to them. Though she might hang them in her home mews on one of the free walls, start to collect them. So far, the ribbons from her flitters had been left on their cages, seeing as the birds themselves were rarely in them. She had an open pen for them and saw no reason to do anything else with the ribbons that had been clipped to their cages. Shaking her head, the 'dragon chewed uncomfortably on her lower lip. What to do now? She knew these were supposed to be social events, but the Sunhawk wasn't much of a social creature. In fact, she tended to avoid others like the plague whenever she had the chance. The idea of finding a good bird to breed with Jev or Salruq did strike her, however, and the tribeswoman hesitantly joined the gaggle of pendragons. She didn't recognize any of them except Turrush and she wasn't sure who to approach. Thus, she just sort of stood there, among them, but not with any particular group. A relaxed falconer listening to what her peers had to say - information that might be valuable to her own training. Though so far she hadn't heard much "shop talk". Eh, well, it was still a good idea to be here, let her face be seen, so she would be familiar to the others.
"Yin!" Turrush called out, and walked towards his friend. "Congradulations. You had a good showing with two of two Qualifying. And your second bird only went to wing twice. I'm not sure which of us should be teaching Hawking now."
Out of Character

Ack, I’d forgotten this thread.

Eka decided it would probably be fun to stick around for a while and talk to the other 'dragons here the others from her class caught her eyes. She walked over with Antirian still perched on her arm with the hood on. “Asarian flew excellently today Nafel. You must have done lots of training after classes. Antirian seems well trained, I really think that it's the luck of the draw." Nafel hoped she didn't sound rude or anything. She wasn't quite sure how to handle a situation such as this... She didn't think Eka would get mad, though. And she really had flown well. Nafel turned to Nurano, laughing. "Poor Nurano's had to put up with me repeating Ramathian commands at Asarian when he's trying to sleep." Nurano was not fond of avians. He was fond (quite so) of sleep. These two things tended not to go together. Though having a bird in his house hadn't endeared him to the creatures, it had at least made him respect them more. They were very intelligent, more so than he would have ever thought. But, then again, animals were not his area of expertise; they were Nafel's. Asarian was still tearing at the ribbon, and now bits of green acrylic fabric were falling on the floor. Nafel, noticing her prize slowly being dismantled by the Trisk, convinced Asarian to let it go. She stuffed it in the pouch she always carried across her chest, with a small snort of laughter at the little bird.
