  1. Day: Tria - 81381. Evening
    Who: Anyone
    Permission to make reference to Jaceen was properly granted.

    --------------------------------------------

    The water had been silent for a long, long time. Well over a year now. Not a ripple had disrupted the pond, nor had any marine life shifted the tide. Darkness covered the murky depths as far as the eye could see.

    A tree was planted there - the roots digging into the water as if it were dirt. They thirsted for the nourishment the darkened depths seemed to provide. Though there was no ground to hold the tree up, it still was there. And chained to it - like some cursed angel - was a being. His white, angelic wings were wrapped close around his body, with the chains pressing down upon them like small vices.

    He had been here for a very long time. Well over a year, in fact. In this area where no light was found, yet one could always see. It had been quite some time since any motion had effected this area.

    * * *

    Z's body was laying flat on the soft hospital bed. Well over a year ago, in Mia of 81380, he was placed down on these very sheets after he had collapsed. His body - in all its bulk - was brought down to the area by Jaceen, though she knew not what she could do for him. All the healers, medics, and even the priests could do nothing for him, aside from setting him up to life support.

    For a year his scaled body had lain on this bed. The only sign that ever gave away his life was the slow movement of his chest - it was almost like a metronome. Its timing was always perfect. Up and down and up and down.

    For the first month, Jaceen visited Z's body often. Half the time, she'd sit there and read books. Because of this, Z's little hospital corner turned into something of a library - only lacking shelves and any form of order. Books were, by this time, scattered across the room. Piles laid around his bed, in no particular order.

    However, on this faithful evening, it was safe to say that Z was quite alone. His breathing continued to rise and drop slowly while both of his arms remained at his sides. The once proud warrior (and bubbly man) was now but a sullen shadow of his former self.

    His breath, for the first time in a year, suddenly quickened. His chest lifted and dropped fast and faster until - finally - it stopped. A loud beep filled the air as Z's heart stopped.

    * * *

    A small drop of water struck the surface of the vast ocean, creating a distinct ring and a very prominent flash of blue. It passed out over the air and tides like a shock wave - rippling the water as it went.

    The feathered being shifted softly as the rain started to come down, making soft pings against the surface of the ocean. His wings slowly began to shift under the chains, though the metal bindings began to constrict his form as he attempted to move.

    "It's time for you to wake up, Straken."

    Within a far, far range on this Eastern Continent - possibly a hundred miles - people with electrical devices, or even lights in their house, would see a small flicker in their appliances. A sort of waning in the output.

    Janardan, however, didn't get off so lucky.

    All the lights in the complex - though few and far between - began to blink slowly, then swell. A few shattered and exploded, though the majority simply turned off. Many electrical devices simply stopped functioning - assuming they were battery powered.

    Z's body was glowing softly as electricity began to crackle through the air around it. The heart monitor that was hooked up to his body stopped beeping suddenly, though not due to his heart stating back up. The device no longer had power. Its electrical flow was diverted into Z.

    His body floated softly into the air, the electricity turning a tad bit blue in hue as it started to revolve around his limp form. It crackled and snapped dangerously, like an angry snake, ready to bite.

    Z's eyes suddenly opened up, red as blood, as if flames streaked across them.

    * * *

    The being's wings tore the chains apart as they spread wide - shards of metal and splinters of wood flew through the air, splashing softly as they hit the water. The rain - at this point - seemed to be flowing backwards. Drops of water were rising from the ocean and into the air. At first, this change was gradual and slow.

    As the feathered being took a step onto the water, however, it began to move much, much faster. He walked across the water as it began to billow and rage around him, though his face was oddly calm. Thunderstorms crackled over head as the ocean seemed to literally drain itself into the sky. Clouds formed above his head and dirt below his feet. With every step forward the being took, more and more of the world was formed, though the storm around him grew more intense the further away from the tree he stepped.

    He paused for but a moment in his steps, turning around calmly and looking to the tree. Wind whipped past his face as he did. And, when he closed his eyes, it all turned to black.

    * * *

    The explosion was monstrous. The door to the room of the infirmary was blown clear off its hinges, leaving black smoke billowing out from the doorway softly. The walls were charred black from the flames of the explosion, and a hand slowly clutched the outer wall.

    Straken took two steps out of the room, having a rather tired and almost sad look on his face.

    "... I'm hungry." He frowned a little, his large angelic wings folding calmly on his back as he looked up into the hallway.

    <table class='ooc'><tr><td>http://shadowlack.com/persona.php?id=17Cilea Fin</a>
    Welcome back :D</td></tr></table>

    Def fingers moved gracefully across the guitar strings and three sharp notes rang through the small dorm room. A hum was added to the sound to see how they sounded together. Cilea Fin frowned, changed cords and tried another string of three notes. Again she wasnÂ’t satisfied with the tune; it wasnÂ’t what she was looking for. Then again she wasnÂ’t to sure what she was looking for, something new, something catchy. She bent over and adjusted a few settings on her amp and played an intro to a song she knew fairly well.

    Then came that familiar sound of everything electronic dying. Her room became pitch black due to the lack of windows, trying to get a sense of where everything was without being to see anything Cilea moved to the door, managing to only hit her knee twice on a small table. Finding the door knob by moving her hands around blinding over the wall she glanced into the hallway.

    She had expected there to be lights on out here, confused she saw other students poking their heads out of their own doors, obviously wanting to know what was going on. When everything had first gone dark she had thought it had been her own fault, using to much power in her small room, but something small like that wouldnÂ’t be able to do this kind of damage. There was glass splashed across the floor from some of the hallway lights that exploded, while the back up lights on the floor slowly started to blink into life, but even they werenÂ’t working at their full potential. Something way going wrong somewhere.

    It was then that Cilea felt something inside her change; it took her mere seconds to realize that the electricity in the air wasnÂ’t stable, her natural magic was reacting to it, nearly all the fur on her body was standing up and when she moved her fingers too close together, small sparks jumped across them. She felt the electrons in her body drawn down the hall, and she was nearly willing to let them lean her where they pleased, but before taking a step out the door she quickly dashed into her room and grabbed a spare light bulb she had on her desk as part of a project. Placing it between her thumb and forefinger she was able to get a current follow through the light. With the help from her new field of vision she slipped her sneakers on and went back out the door, she didnÂ’t want to have to worry about stepping on a shard of glass.

    As she started walking with the light held in front of her, she heard a familiar voice call from somewhere close behind. “Where do you think you’re going?" Cilea paused and turned around to answer. “I don’t know." She said rather absent minded, she was merely going to see where the surge of electricity had come from. Magic would lead the way.

    She didnÂ’t even want to try using one of the many elevators, even if she could use her magic to get them moving again. There was also a chance her magic would last long enough to get her to where ever she was going. So she opened the door to the stairwell and proceeded to look up and down the circling staircases, unsure of which way she should go. The sound of a tremendous explosion coming from a few floors down made up her mind for her, she took off down the stairs as fast as she could, light bulb held high to see the next step beneath her foot. Not bothering to check if someone may have followed her.

    She didnÂ’t know what floor she came out on, but she could see black smoke clouds coming out of a door way, two doors laid on the floor with extensive damage. Cilea guessed that this was where it started.

    Thinking that she heard something moving around in the room, she froze, bulb held out in front of her as her only protection. She was too afraid to take another step closer, luckily for her, who ever was in the room was coming out any way. She gave out a small yelp as he walked out of the room, she even thought of running back towards the stairs, but something made her stay.

    When he spoke, there was only one thing that she could think to say.

    “Please don’t eat me."

  3. Straken blinked a few times as someone moved at the end of the hallway. For a moment, his eyes had to adjust - the sudden intrusion of light to these darkened depths were a tad much for the kitty. His ears, which had been pointing downward in a rather sad manner, suddenly perked straight up, while a smile was on his face.

    He scanned the area for all of two seconds - long enough for his mind to take it all in. A younger 'Dragon, the light-bulb in one hand, the walls... It made sense. Janardan. The architecture matched the unique building's, and a Government complex would give a young person something so much better than a light-bulb with which to test her powers out on.

    "Oh! Aha! No. I don't eat kids, I eat pie!" Straken smiled and gave a nod of his head, holding back a laugh as he moved his contrasting body out into the hallway. Fortunately, his jeans were only mostly burned away - they were like torn shorts now. His black fur was sleek and shiny. It was, most likely, smooth to the touch, too! But those huge white wings stood out against the black of his back just as obviously as chalk on a blackboard.

    He frowned a bit as he looked around the almost black hallway. "Hrmn.. Awful dark down here." He snapped his fingers and opened his hand, a ball of blue flame appearing in it. Damn near instantly, the dim hall was almost completely illuminated.

    He took a few steps toward her and smiled a little bit. "Electricity's a very tricky element - it can go disastrously unpredictable, and using it to create light can drain energy really fast," He held the flaming orb up a little bit. "thus why I rather use fire! It burns the air, so it uses little of my energy."

    His head gave a few nods, before he paused and tilted his head to the side. "I'm Straken, by the way, educator here of Elemental Kinesis, Fighting, and Ramathian." He paused for a moment, tilting his head to the other side. "Uhm... You'll have to excuse me, but, did I miss the exam periods?" It was kind of hard to believe that someone looking - and sounding - as gentle in nature as Straken taught fighting.

    But the exams...? It's been over a year now! Straken's classes all gained an auto-pass because their instructor poofed! Some theorized he was kidnapped by aliens - a very popular rumor at this point.

    Apparently, he was still alive.

  4. After a moment of the light reflecting off the strangers face, he seemed to light up in a different way. His smile helped her relax slightly; he no longer loomed like a monster rising from a fire, his large white wings now almost gave him an angelic glow in contract to the dark corridor. The correction of eating pie and not children brought a smile to her face.

    For a minute she was stunned into silence as she watched him easily summon a blue flame into his hand to light up the rest of the hall, it was a noticeably better light source than her magic powered bulb. She even wished that sheÂ’d one day be able to do that, maybe not with fire, but pour electricity, which was easily possible, if she didnÂ’t spend all her time trying to write music.

    When he took a few steps forward she was surprised that she didnÂ’t take a few away, but with the way he moved and a rather friendly expression on his face she saw no reason not to trust him. Lowering her arm, the glare from the light move towards the floor instead of reflecting in their faces. She was about to give her own name in response but before she got to it, the realization of who this was sunk in, her mouth dropped open.

    “You’re that Professor Straken Kavor!?" She had never had him as a teacher, or even seen him for that matter, but rumors traveled through the school like forest fires right after he vanished off the face of the earth. She remembered hearing nearly every student say his name at least once.

    Some people said he had been murdered, other said he had killed someone and ran off. This seemed very unlikely since he had seemed like such a relax kind of person. Other not so outrageous rumours, said theyÂ’re had been some magic incident that ended badly, the truth was never known. And here he was, standing in front of her, as if raised from the dead, and asking about exams no less. Teachers, they were all the same.

    “Sir, it’s been over a year since you disappeared…" She was shaking her head now in disbelief, where had he gone for all this time? “I wouldn’t put exams too high on your priority list." She wasn’t to sure if she was allowed to talk to a teacher like that, and kind of regretted it after she said it.

    “However, it’s understandable to have pie high on that list." She said remembering his earlier comment. “There should be some left over in the cafeteria from today."

  5. Straken blinked a few times as she mentioned that it had been over a year. Indeed, the news came as somewhat of a shock. His tail - burning brightly with a blue flame - dipped down a little bit. His face twisted into a bit of a frown, and his ears even flopped down some.

    "A... a year? Dang!" He gave a bit of a shake of his head, then straightened up a little bit. His ears perked back up and his face went back to a smile. "Yay! I don't have to write any final exams for students!" He pumped a fist into the air, then walked up beside her.

    "Well then, how about I make ya a deal?" He smirked and tossed the ball of fire into the air, catching it with his off hand. He then held his right arm up slightly, as if he were holding something in front of his face. "You defiantly seem like an electrokinesis student." His head nodded twice, before she'd hear a soft crackling sound in the air. Within moments, his forearm would suddenly be ablaze with light. It wasn't fire - it was a step beyond that.

    Raw electricity crackled between the individual strands of fur so vividly that it basically turned his arm into a giant light-bulb. "Make ya a deal. You take me to the pie, and I'll give you one-on-one tutoring with Electrokinesis!" Straken smiled broadly after this statement, the electricity floating away soon after it appeared. In truth, it was a very, very easy move - it used little energy and was really no different from constant bolts of static electricity. It just took tremendous concentration.

    However, Straken wasn't offering tutoring just because he was silly like that - oh no. He was thinking much, much further into this. In all his time, he had only ever met three people gifted purely with Electrokinesis - one of them was now dead by his own hand. Electrokinesis was a very, very dangerous discipline. The fact that she seemed to have a bit of a grasp on it made him a little concerned. The last thing he needed to see was a student losing a pound of hair and fur due to a backfire of electricity.

    Some might argue if Straken was brilliant or if he was just silly. Straken, however, always liked to think he was somewhere in the middle.

  6. Realizing that she had giggled at his joyous outburst about missing exams she raised her free hand to cover her mouth, but it did nothing to hide the smile. Maybe he wasnÂ’t like all the other teachers as she had suspected.

    Her eyes remained locked on the burning ball as he threw it up into the air, intrigued just as much in it as this ‘deal’ that he was about to describe. As his whole arm was bathed in electric light, she could feel the energy inside her shift. Energy was drawn to more energy. She nodded along as he pointed out he noticed she was studying electrokinesis, not too overly surprised that he could tell, it was he’s next statement that shock her more then electricity could.

    She was blown away by the offer, to have someone teach her the specifics of electrokinesis would be amazing, and to be taught by Professor Kavor would be like being taught by an old school legend. She opened her mouth to respond but on her first try no words came out. Clearing her throat she tried again.

    “I’d be willing to bake you pies for a deal like that!" She finally managed to sputter out. She was so excited at the idea that she wanted to dance around the hallway, but knew it was uncalled for and could wait till she was in her room later.“Which of course means you got yourself a deal, pie’s this way." She pointed back towards the stairs, not sure if the elevators would be back online just yet. It was thinking about the elevators that she remembered why she came down here in the first place. The smell of burnt pants that had now became shorts also helped in its own way.

    “Isn’t someone going to wonder about this mess?" She said while indicating the broken doors and other pieces of destroyed prosperity lying around them. She guess that the staff where probably busy on cleaning up the higher floors before getting down to their level. And the generator to whatever powered the school had probably been their first stop.

    When she had first seen him walking out of that dark room she had also been worried about his condition, after getting past the fact that he didn’t eat children. But seeing him use his powers with ease and walk without a problem put those worries to rest. Well maybe not completely. “I hope you don’t mind me asking, but you had something to do with this power outage didn’t you?"
