Mia 29, 81378 Faedra's bicoloured eyes scanned the area admiringly. The obsidian silver-tinted femme enjoyed fresh water swimming more than ocean swimming. The salt always irritated her sensitive eyes. This lake looked perfect, inviting the pendragon in to cool off. It was a very hot afternoon in the hottest season, Tria. Faedra was a fan of heat, after living alone in a cold northern environment for most of her life, but only for a short while. Experimentally, Faedra dipped her footpaw in the water. It was cool, but pleasantly so. Since she had no use for clothing, she waded in immediately and dove in once she reached waist-depth. She opened her aqua marine and midnight blue eyes underwater in the shallows, swishing her tail blade behind her like a crude rudder. The waters were suprisingly clear. Faedra went a little bit deeper until she brushed the shallow ground. Then she rolled onto her back and stared up beyond the surface towards the blue sky. Faedra could hold her breath for a remarkably long time. Some time later, the black and silver pendragon emerged from the water and walked back to shore, glistening with crystaline drops of water cascading down her slender body. She shook the water from her fur and long hair, and then lay down on a wide flat rock to sun herself. The sun was warm against her body, and she forgot to be alert as she let the peacefulness of the atmosphere take over. How long had it been since she had last felt such serenity? How long had it been since she had last allowed herself to really relax? A small insect inspected Faedra's nose curiously. She sniffed it away, keeping her eyes closed sleepily. Then, with a final yawn, she stretched out and fell into a carefree slumber.
Kill was a swimming amongst the green reeds at the bottom of the great lake. Ocasionally lifting her head for breath though she was the type to stay underwater for up to 2 hours. SHe had been swimming, exploring for several hours though she loved it so much that she was not yet exactly tired. She was on the opposite side of the lake when Faedra entered and did not notice her. She quickly swam to the center of the lake in search of something peculiar to do. It was then that she saw Faedra walk out of the water a fall asleep in warm Tria sun. Using her tail for speed she swamm to the edge of the lake in which Faedra slept. For while she merely watched but then the urge to be annoying hit her. With an evil smirk she splashed a huge amount of the cool water and before Faedra had a moment to stir she picked up a pebble from the bottom of the shallow part of the lake threw it at her and dove underwater hiidden amongst its shadows and reeds.
Faedra should have known her peace would not last very long. Her keen senses had been slightly sluggish with the heat. The femme sat up abruptly when the pebble bounced off her nose rudely. She looked around with narrow bi-coloured eyes, searching for the intruder. It was then that Faedra saw a dark shadow descending into the reeds in the shallows. She sensed no danger with the situation. She guessed that it was just a rambunctious prankster looking for some fun. Or trouble. With a slightly amused grin, Faedra moved from the sunning rock. Moving with the grace and silence of a shadow, the obsidian-silver pendragon slid back into the water with scarcely a ripple and lowered herself amongst the reeds. Her sensitive eyes scanned the clear depths, until at last they landed upon a hidden figure. Why do you hide, Great Trickster? Faedra called silently, using Silent Speak.
Creeping out of the cover of the wood comes a large and bulky male 'dragon. He stared out over the seemingly flawless lake, smiling to himself as he looked to it. Shook his head slowly then padded out to the water's edge then leaning his head down getting a good taste of the water. But just as he did so he drew back spiting the water old of his mouth and glared upon the two shadowy figures beneath the surface of the water. Growls lightly and takes a step into the water, barely distrubing it. "Why would these little devils be swim about in such waters that was many meant for drinking." He spoke in a cold deep voice as he looked down upon them through the watery surface, awaiting a chance to get in there and take hold of one of them.
Faedra felt a disturbance. She drew away from the little prankster and swam back up to the surface, searching the shores for a new presence. Sure enough, there was a large male pendragon glaring back at her. He looked irate. She swallowed nervously and paddled into the shallows. It had been so long since she had had contact with another of her kind that she wasn't quite sure how to behave. Pranksters could be dealt with easily, but annoyed sturdily-built males? The black and silver femme emerged from the water and looked the male in the eye. She cleared her throat before speaking. She hadn't used her voice in so long, and she was worried it would come out in a hoarse croak. I sense that you are upset by something I have done, sir, she said, careful to be courteous. Thankfully she sounded normal. How have I wronged you, if I may ask?
Dreed smirked lightly looking down upon the femlae as she stared back up at him. Dropped down on his stomach in the water then leans his head in close to her, looking into her eyes deeply. Licks his lips slightly and looks back to the watery surface as he notices another in the depths. Sighs softly and looks back to the female flexing his wings a bit then stands back up. Reaches his dark hand up and places it about the side of her face gently. "You have mistakened. I'm not the least bit upset with you, I mean it would have been nice to have got a good drink from this waters before a 'dragon would've taken a dip into it." Turns his eyes away from her and steps back up out of the water then heads over back to the shore then lies down on the sands, sighing heavily as he lies down. Lifts his eyes up as he folds his wings back against his shoulders looking to the youth once more. Sits up and rocks back and forth looking at her.
The strange male's touch was unexpected. Faedra flinched slightly, but when she realized that his hand was gentle, she relaxed and let it linger. She was relieved that she had not upset him, but she wondered why she had sensed he was annoyed. Perhaps he simply dealing with some other personal issue that had nothing to do with her. His eyes delved into her with an intense light that held her transfixed for a moment. It was almost unnerving...but it felt good to be talking with another of her species again. Faedra bowed her head when he pulled away. I am glad, she told him with a friendly smile. She then watched him for a moment as he made his way back to shore, and then decided to follow him. The pendragon was, afterall, slightly curious about this male. Vaguely, Faedra wondered why he was rocking back and forward...she couldn't remember if such a thing was normal behavior for a pendragon. She crawled onto the sand and lay down on her stomach next to him, gazing ahead at the waters. The obsidian-silver female had forgotten about the prankster that still hid in the lake. My name is...Faedra, she told the male after a while of silence. It had been so long since she had spoken her name to anyone. It was a miracle she could still remember it.
The lare black male stopped rocking for a short moment then turned his eyes to the female as she lied down beside him on the shore. Quirked a brow and looked over her coat, as it glistened in the rays of the sky. Smirks lightly then turns his eyes back to the waters as it gave off the elegant colored ripples one after another, giving it a continuous luster of light. Sitting there in the silences, watching the waters dance over one another, the female spoke in a soft and elegant voice towards him that was of nothing he heard before. Telling him of her name the large dark male turned his gaze back to her, smiling. "Dreed...", nodding slowly as he spoke of it. Turns his eyes back to the waters once more and a sudden breeze blows over the wrapping surface, throwing the ripples into chaos.
Faedra's smile broadened at the sound of the male's name. Dreed, she said quietly, storing the name in her memory. She felt his eyes on her fur for a moment and felt the heat of modesty in her face. Part of her wanted to probe his mind to find out what he was thinking, but the wiser, more courteous part of her held the desire at bay. She did know a few things about manners. The waters are beautiful, she whispered, breaking the stretch of silence. Like liquid crystals... OOC: Sorry for the shortness, I have to be going somewhere right away.
Nods slowly at her purposal about how the waters looked. Sighs softly and leans his head back looking up towards the starlite skies, glaring slightly as he does. "The everlasting night is of the same beauty." Laughs lightly and looks back over at her out the corner of her eye slow. Turns his attention to her and wonders for a short moment about what she was doing all the way out in the middle of nowhere, swimming in such a scared place. Shook his head at the question then spoke once more. "So, what brings you all the way out here?" Looks away and lowers his eyes. "If anything...", trailed off in his words as he focused on the ground for a moment.
Faedra kept her eyes on the water as she listened to Dreed's statement about the night. Her expression softened slightly as she looked up to the stars, a faint smile on her lips. It is she agreed quietly. His question took her by surprise, only because she hadn't thought of it herself. Well, I...I don't know exactly. I just came upon this place and the lake looked so beautiful that I couldn't resist a swim. I really don't know what this land is. I wander around so often that I rarely know where I actually end up. She chuckled softly at herself, knowing how foolish she must sound. Are you from this place, Dreed? she asked after a moment of silence.
Shook his head slowly and closed his eyes a bit remembering back to the place that he called home once, but it just comes up as a blur. Sighs slightly and looks up at her slowly as she chuckled. "I don't have a place of origin, I just wander here and there." Looks away from her once more then curls his fingers into a fist then unfolds them against the cool earth. "I never really felt like I belonged anywhere...jus always felt out of place among others of my kind."
Faedra looked to him with surprise. She was startled to find that he had voiced her precise feeling in such a simple sentence...for she too had never felt that she truly fit in anywhere. Perhaps if she had been raised properly, she would have discovered a true sense of herself and her role in pendragon society. Momentarily, the black and silver femme lapsed into a distant memory. "Mama? Daddy? Where are you going?" "Stay here, Faedra. Your mama and I are...going away." "Can I come too?" "No, I'm afraid not. Listen to your daddy, Fae. We're leaving you here, do you understand? Please don't try to follow us." "Why not? Wait! Mama, Daddy, please don't go!" "Goodbye, sweetheart. We're sorry...this just isn't working for us. Take care." Faedra pulled herself from the memory quickly, inhaling sharply. It just wasn't fair...why did they have to leave her so young and helpless? Why did she have to learn everything the hard way? She swallowed quietly to regain her composure, and then gave Dreed a shaky smile of acknowledgement. She refused to feel sorry for herself. I understand what you mean, she told him. I...don't suppose I really belong anywhere either.
Quirks a brow then turns his eyes to her as she speaks of not having a place to really to call home either. Nods slowly and looks away from her once more then back out to the waters. Brings a hand up and scratches the side of his neck slightly then draws back his hand, flexing his wings a bit as he relaxes a bit more. "Tis be a blessing to see that I'm not the only that suffers from the same fate." Licks his lips a bit and closes his eyes as he lies there peacefully.
The young female watched Dreed for a moment, taking in the sight of him. It felt good to be near someone of her own species again, after all this time. She found the male rather intriguing. She wanted to know more about him. She wanted to know what his past was like, what his family was like. Yet, in spite of that fact that she was severely out of touch with social behavior, even she knew that to ask such personal questions was a grave mistake. Besides, Dreed had been a gentleman and refrained from asking such questions as well. Nobody should ever have to suffer alone, she said in a barely audible voice, lifting her eyes to the stars again.
"Tis to be the first one to emit to such a thing as that." He quoted to her comment as he smirked then took a deep breath letting it out slowly. Lies his head down against his forepaws slowly and relaxes. Listening to the soft sounds of her breathing off in his ears and the sound of his own as he lies there. Folds his wings back against his backside and opened one of his red eyes looking to her once more. "You haven't been away from the spieces lon, eh? I mean no where near as long as I, ya'know."
She shrugged her shoulders casually and turned to look him in the eye. For almost as long as I can remember, she said softly, trying to keep the bitterness from her voice. I've brushed into a few throughout my travels, but...this is the longest conversation I've had with a pendragon for a very long time, she admitted. His last statement piqued her curiousity. I don't suppose so...how long have you been out of contact? You seem very civil, she said, unaware of her own bluntness.
Smirks lightly at her remark then nods slowly as he looks back out over the small pond. "Well...it has been almost 30 centuries since I really stuck around long enough in one place to really be noticed by the locals." Sighs softly and gets up from the ground then paddles over to the water's edge leaning down his head to get a drink. Draws some into his mouth then steps back wipping his lips off. Goes back over to where the female lied then sits down looking to her. "But yeah that's about thee right time." He curls his hands into fist then looks down upon them and back to her.
Faedra's eyes widened and she stared at Dreed with unabashed surprise. Thirty centuries? she breathed. That's longer than I've even been alive! She shook her head with wonder and regarded Dreed thoughtfully. It must have been lonely, she said after a moment of silence. I think I would have gone mad had I gone that long without speaking to others of our kind. The young female yawned and scratched her ear lazily, glancing around at the scenery. She turned to Dreed once more. Do you know the name of this place? she asked.
Nods slightly to her reaction to what he said then turns his eyes over to her slowly as she lies there. "Well, have my profession, it kind of kept me entertained for a long while." Turns over onto his back and looks up at the starlite skies. Grins softly and placing his palms flat against the ground as he looks then glares a bit. Shakes his head slowly and looks over at her once more as she yawns. "This is the Magi Lake. Because of all the multi-colored water as it relaxes and becomes calm." Turns his eyes back to the skies and clears his throat.
