"Welcome back, class." Standing before his class, with a tiny hawk on his shoulders is Turrush Sjoahaujs. His black coat gleamed in the morning sun, setting off the cream colored patches. The little hawk gleamed, too, though his feathers were a lovely combination of white and silver, with pinion feathers of rich gleaming gold. They stood before a well constructed shed that had shelves for containing small birds of prey. The majority of the time it stood empty save for the spare equipment and a few perches. "I welcome you back. And I trust that you have completed your homework. As you should know, your only instructions were to make friends with your bird, take good care of it, and to make sure you had lead and jess properly attached to the bird for class today. The first thing youÂ’ll do is form a line before this table," He indicated a table that was empty except for a perch. "When itÂ’s your turn to display your bird, youÂ’ll move it to the perch and I will check the attachment of the Jess and Lead."

<table class=ooc><tr><td>Okay folks, you can form up line and display your birds in any order you want (Basically, when you see the thread, reply) and that’ll found our post order for this one. I’ll make all of my “check" posts in a single post after you’ve all gotten yours up. Each of you will have a chance of getting the Jess wrong, but I’ll give you the choice in how bad of a chance. You have 3Options.

A - 25% Chance of Incorrect – You paid good attention in class and referenced your instruction sheet.
B - 50% Chance of Incorrect – You paid good attention, OR you referenced your instructions. One or the other.
C – 75% Chance of Incorrect – You didn’t pay attention, and you didn’t reference the instructions. You are guessing.

Just make an OOC section at the end saying which you want for your character, and make sure your post reflects what you role played in the first thread. IÂ’ll use my Percentile Dice to figure out if you got it right or not.</td></tr></table>

Eka stood with Antirian on her for arm. Once again she was in biped form, she was getting rather found of it. Since it was easier to bond with her new friend that way. One other thing that she had found was the hawks talons were very sharp, so she had taken some spare cloth and wrapped it around her arm. She didnÂ’t like to see Antirian locked up in her cage while she was around she thought it was a lot nicer to keep her close to her.

Every night she had practiced putting the Jess and lead together. She even tried to do it with one paw, that proved to be a lot harder. And she still hadnÂ’t perfected it that way, but other then that she was pretty sure that she was doing it the right way.

She now stood with the rest of the class, with the cage at her feet. After the teacher indicated to stand by the perches she walked right over. She was pretty sure that she had done the work properly but was nerves all the same. She took the first perch in line. She wanted to get it over with. She then moved and got Antirian to step down onto the wood.

With all the time spent with the bird she knew that there had been a bond formed. The bird may not know her too well yet but she was really starting to know the bird. Feeding and everything else had gone well and she felt like she had had a productive week. She stood there and waited.

Thi had reveiwed with her notes all night long. She hadn't paid very much attention during class. She was too excited about getting her very first Trisk. She had put the jess and lead on about 20 times and hoped she had mastered it. Her golden female stood on her arm.

Thi learned that Panik was a great companion to have. She didn't know everything about her new friend and charge yet, but she knew that their were to become good friends in the future. She looked to Proffesor and saw him and his Trisk getting along well. It hurt her to see Panik cramped in the tiny cage that Proffesor had given them with their birds.

With that Thi had also made the discovery that Trisk had sharp talons. She however, made no move to limit the pain as the talons dug into her arm. That way, she and Panik could get so close without either her or Panik feeling that a barrier of pain limited their relationship.

Thi held Panik's lead in her hand and took the second perch in line. She offered the perch to Panik who carefully stepped off. Thi gave her bird a loving stroke and took a step back so that Proffesor could come in and check the jess and lead.

<table class=ooc><tr><td>25%-40% I would think. She listened to what was needed in class, and practiced the commands on the sheet.</td></tr></table>

Salme had not been as enthusiastic about coming to this class as she had the first time. Not because she was unprepared, just because she had not practiced putting on the lead and jess as often as she probably needed to. In fact she had focused on the other part of the assignment. She had spent the entire time bonding with her trisk.

As soon as she had gotten to her dorm she let the bird out of the cage and let it fly around a little. When it landed she would walk slowly over to it holding out her paw to it. At first it would fly away from her, but she kept trying and eventually it let her touch it. She stroked it for a little bit before it would fly off again. She had done this several times and finally she coaxed the bird on to her forearm without any force. She had found that Inarik was a very skittery bird, every movement disserved a twitch of her head in its direction. But Salme had found that Inarik preferred to get on her on her arm when her head was tilted away from the arm she held out, and only when the bird was situated would she allow Salme to straiten out her head without flying off. She had even practiced the commands that were on the laminated sheet. Inarik surely was trained with this word and only hesitated because of the fact that Salme was a new person to her.

She stood third in line with Inarik perched on her arm. She too had found the talons to be extremely sharp so she had worn a long sleeved shirt to the class, but it did not seem to be helping much so far. She had the lead and jess crudely attached to the leg of her trisk, but she could tell she had done it wrong because Inarik kept lifting her foot to bite at it. Salme groaned as she transferred Inarik to the perch. Salme started petting the soft feathers of her trisk who had been splashing around in a bowl of water earlier this morning, Salme had given far more baths to the bird that was required for she seemed to enjoy it. Inarik stood nonobjectively except for the occasional peck at her leg.

"DonÂ’t worry Inarik, I will get it off soon..."

<table class=ooc><tr><td>25-50%. She picks things up very quickly, and she read the sheet and paid attention, mostly. </td></tr></table>

Nafel walked over to the line, with the birdcage (and Asirian) in one hand, the other one occupied by her bag. As Nafel reached the table, she put the bird cage down for a moment while she dug through the bag, emerging with a leather glove. She put it on her hand, pulling it snug. It was one of Nurano's, so it was a bit big, but it fit her all right. Nafel had used it as her solution to the sharp talons of her new pet, since it seemed to be the simplest way. It had worked well enough thus far.

She smiled as she picked the cage back up, letting Asirian out and onto her wrist. She stroked the head of the little silver bird with the back of her index and middle fingers on her right hand, smiling. Asirian seemed to enjoy it too. Nafel had not really had a problem with getting the bird to enjoy physical contact.

Once she had brought her back to the dorm room the first night, she had let her out onto a "branch" that she had borrowed from an unused chair (the leg), and let sit on the floor. For an hour, she and the bird had just sat there and stared at each other. And once that hour had been up, the bird had nodded (or so it had seemed to Nafel), and been perfectly content, so long as Nafel did things right. The only thing Asarian didn't like, it seemed, was bathing. She would do it, but not any more that she had to, and not in more than a little water.

Nafel double-checked the jesses. She wasn't sure that they were on right, but her bird didn't seem to mind them. It didn't look wrong, so Nafel didn't bother trying to make sure. She had read the instruction sheet, paid attention in class, and tried her hardest. It was all she could do, so she wouldn't be mad if she has them wrong. Nafel turned to the teacher, looking to see if he was going to check her jesses yet.

  6. Ebony had gone back after collecting Resina and learning what she'd missed when she'd forgotten the first lesson and had let Resina out of the cage straight away. Resina had flew around the room once before percing on the end of Ebony's bed, calling out in a clear voice. Ebony then had proceeded to feed Resina and had offered her a bath which at first Resina had refused but later in the evening when Ebony tried again, Resina was quite happy to bathe herself. Since then, the two had bonded very well indeed and Ebony had practised with the Jess quite studiously. Especially since her Ramathian test was out of the way. And she'd got really good marks.

She stood with the other students, solid silver Resina on her arm with her Jess attached to Ebony's best attempt and the cage out of the way on the floor. She felt a little odd being there and felt like the other student's had been talking about her lateness but she didn't mind. She had been accepted still into the class and was given Resina. To solve the problem of Resina's talons, she'd found a pair of old black leather gloves and wore them both so that she could allow Resina to perch on either wrist. Resina was casting her eyes about the class with interest. It seemed to Ebony that Resina was the sort who was curious but proud and upright. She loved her friend all the same.

Finally she lowered Resina to the next empty perch to which Resina promptly made a soft curious noise at Ebony but she hopped onto it just the same. Ebony stroked the soft silver feathers and stood back, awaiting the professor's judgement.

Once all of the students and their birds were in place, The professor proceeded to check the Jess on the first bird, Atirian. "Lad, Ati." When the leg was extended, he examined the attachment. "Eka, it looks like you've got it too loose. The leather is soft and you don't need to be afraid to have it tight around they leg. They may be very small birds, but they're tough enough to take it."

That was all that was said before he moved on to the next of the hawks. "Panik, Lad." At led extension he examined the Jess' attachment. "Well, Thi, It looks good and Secure. Well done." It was difficult to tell if the 'well done' was meant for the bird for obeying the leg command or the student.

Then it was the third of the perches and hawks. "Inarik, Lad." was said and he then waited for the leg. When it was finally offered, he examined the Jess. "Salme, you've got it a bit loose, but not bad. Because it's loose, Inarik thinks she might be able to get it off. You'll also want to make sure the leather is smoother. Overall, decent."

When he got to the second to last perch, the system didn't seem to have changed. "Lad, Asirian." and another wait for the bird to extend the leg, as requested. When the Jess was checked, he made is diagnosis. "Well attached, firm, tight enough, no wrinkles. A good job."

Then it was on to the final of the perches. "Resina, Lad." The final wait for the jessed leg to be presented, and then a good look at it. "You've wrapped the end around the thick part before you passed it through. Need to pass it strait through so it lays flat. Workable, but not completely correct."

He then centered himself at the table. "It seems that you've gotten a good understanding of the Jess' workings. If I pointed out things that are incorrect, correct them as quickly as possible and follow me." Turrush reached over to retrieve his own Hawk (This one White with Gold tips on her pinions), and then headed out to a small open area to the east of the aviary. Once all of the class had caught up, he began the rest of the instructions. "Today weÂ’ll be working on some basic commands. The first command will be the stay command. Today Aven will be demonstrating, as sheÂ’s still in training and more likely to cause some of the troubles youÂ’ll have to deal with." He bent down, and carefully coaxed the bird from his hand. When she was on the ground, he gave her one clear, firm, command. "Aven, Tsui." He then walked to the end of the lead, so that he was holding it by the last few feet and was 15 feet from her. She shifted and fluttered her wings. "Tsui." He repeated, then the bird settled and he returned, praising her and ruffling the feathers behind her head gently.

"See what each of you can do with the Stay command. In case you missed it, Tsui. Stay in Ramthian. Start by only walking 5 feet away. If your bird seems comfortable at that distance, move a little farther, otherwise stay close. Right now, we arenÂ’t overly concerned with the distance, just the reliability of the command. By next lesson we need it to be Solid, as weÂ’ll be starting Flight Training. Flight Training will be off the lead.

Now, each of you give the command a try."

  8. Eka was disappointed that she had made that mistake with the jess, but it was true. She didnÂ’t want to take the chance of putting Antirian in pain. She quickly came around to the front of the trisk and removed the jess completely and redid the whole thing over, making sure to pull a little harder at the end to make sure it stayed. She guessed that it would be worst if the Jess came off and Antirian flew away.

Once the teacher had finished with all the other students and instructed them to walk over to the open area Eka was soon to follow. She stroked Antirian once before coxing her off her arm and on to the grass. She gripped the leather in her other paw and looked down at her trisk.<span style='color:green'>“Tsui."</span> She was still learning to speak ramathian so she hoped that she was pronouncing it right.

She faced the hawk as she slowly took a step back, Antirian seemed to hesitate for a few moments but then hoped towards her. <span style='color:green'>“Antirian tsui."</span> She was more stern this time, and probably more clear to the bird. Again she took a few back wards steps still facing the bird, making sure that she could always see her. <span style='color:green'>“Good Antirian."</span>

That didnÂ’t seem to be the best thing to do, at the sound of her own name the Hawk jumped into the air and within to stokes of her wings was perched again on Eka arm. Not wanting to give up Eka set herself up to try again, and a few time after that as well. She felt that she was getting somewhere with the bird, each time she would stay a little longer.

  9. Salme looked at Inarik and wispered to her. "Least I tried. Inarik, Lad please." Inarik obayed and lifted her foot. She indid the jess and tried smoothing it down as best she could. "That should do, ok, Lad Inarik." Salme attatched the jess once more, a little bit tighter this time. She stood back a little to see if it still bothered her bird, but Inarik did not show any sighns of discomfort. She held out her arm to her bird. "Inarik Og." She said calmly. Inarik climbed on to Salme's arm, digging her talons into Salme's skin.

She followed after their instrutor. She bent down to the ground and tapped the ground lightly with her free hand. Inarik hopped off her arm onto the grass and turned to face her. "Ok Inarik, Tsui" She said and took a step backward. As soon as she had, Inarik hopped forward as well. Salme sighed, and softly pushed Inarik back a little bit. "You stay there. Inarik Tsui." She took a couple steps backward. Inarik flinched and Salme stopped moving. Once the bird had settled again, Salme took a couple more steps backwards, all the time repeating the command. "Tsui, tsui, tsui...." She said with each small step as she inched her way down the lead. She looked at Inarik only a couple feet away, her head cocked to one side confusedly. "Good job! Ok, Og Inarik." Salme said. Releived, Inarik half flew half hopped over to Salme's outstreached arm. Salme pet the soft feathers of the bird and wispered encuraging things to it as she walked back to where they had started. "Ok. Good job lets try this again." She said happily, leaning over and patting te ground.

She practiced many more times, most of the times only getting a couple feet away before Inarik would fly over to her. She would sigh, and carry her back to the staring point. Every time she did it right, Salme would smile and wisper happily to the bird. This is actualy fun. She thought to herself.

  10. Thi smiled. Though she wasn't entierly sure whater Professor's comment was about the jess or comand. She bent to praise Panik anyways. She stroked Panik's head and under her wings. Thi offered her arm to Panik and she stepped up.

Thi followed Professor wondering if she should tell him about the flitter clutch. When Thi put her arm near the ground Panik hopped off. Thi turned to Panik with a serious face. -Ok, Panik, tsui.- she walked a few feet away. Panik swquaked and Thi repeatd -Tsui, Tsui. I'll be there soon-

Panik settled. Thi repeated the command and turned to walk 5 feet away. Panik shifted on the ground. She shuffled to and fro. Panik worried. -Tsui. Please. Panik, tsui. I promise I'll come back- Panik settled and Thi smiled. She ran back towards Panik while praising and reassuring her.

  11. Ebony watched as each of the students before her and Resina were assessed on their attachment of the Jess to their bird. Ebony was almost praying that she was even half right. She watched as Resna did exactly what the professor asked and offered her leg. Almost right, workable but not perfect. Ebony sighed with relief. Moving closer to stroke Resina's soft feathers, she smiled and said softly Resina, Lad. and sure enough, she offered her leg to Ebony who immediately took off the Jess and reattached it correctly. Resina looked at the Jess before making a cooing noise in agreement. Ebony rubbed the bird's head gently and then said Og Resina whilst offering a gloved wrist. Resina hopped gratefully onto the offered wrist and was congratulated as they made their way over to the rest of the class.

Ebony watched and listened to how the professor explained the stay command. This was all in basic Ramathian so she was alright. Ebony knealt down and patted the turf, trying to get Resina to hop off. She spoke softly Come on Resina, down you get but Resina looked at Ebony with a look that could say Do you think I'm stupid? I'd much rather stay on your wrist thank you very much! Ebony sighed and shook her head lightly. PLease Resina? she said as she patted the turf again. Resina gave another glance at Ebony before hopping off and landing gracefully on the turf. Ebony smiled and praised her again before standing up. Now Tsui Resina, she said as she took one slow step backwards but as she did so, Resina creeled and hopped closer. No Resina, Tsui. I'll come back. Promise. And she took another step backwards. Resina called out again but stayed still so Ebony took another step backwards. Then another. Then another. Eventually it was five steps before Resina moved but Ebony praised her friend heavily and Resina appriciated the attention. Then Ebony began it again, and Resina allowed six steps but called out in alarm and distress so Ebony ran back and let Resina fly onto her arm and gave her attention once more.

  12. Nafel smiled in relief as the professor pronounced her Jess correct. She watched closely as he demonstrated the new technique, seeing how he calmed the bird with the command. It looked difficult, but not like it would take too long, if she kept trying. Nafel walked, cage and bag awkwardly in hand and hawk on arm, to a spot where she would not be disturbed. She set everything but Asarian down, and when she extended her arm towards the ground, Asarian stepped hesitantly off. She looked at Nafel as if to say "What is the point of this?". She obeyed nonetheless.

Nafel stood five feet away, and Asarian's look of mild confusion increased. She began to flap her wings, but Nafel said firmly, <span style='color:#00cccc'>"Tsui."</span> This did not seem to phase Asarian. She hopped closer to Nafel. <span style='color:#00cccc'>"No, Asarian. Tsui"</span> Still didn't work. Nafel was getting upset. In frustration, she resorted to telepathy. <span style='color:#00cccc'>{Stay, Asarian. Tsui. Like this.}</span> She tried to project an image to the bird. She didn't know if it worked, but this time she stayed. Nafel backed slowly away, but as she continued using telepathy, Asarian continued to stay. <span style='color:#00cccc'>Odd.</span>

Nafel chalked it up to the bird simply not knowing what was being asked, until she had explained it to her, sort've. She tried verbal commands again, and this time it worked. Nafel was 15 or so feet out, and Asarian was firmly on the ground. The turquoise femme smiled and returned to the bird, picking her up. She looked around to see what others were doing. They all seemed to be practicing some more, so that was what Nafel continued to do. Each time it worked, she walked over to pet Asarian. She seemed to be getting it, now.

  13. "The work so far has been excellent, but IÂ’ll need you to gather around again." He waited for the students to gather back around him. "YouÂ’re all making improvements with the stay command. I do need to stress the importance of this command, particularly if you ever wish to compete in a Hawking Competition. Advanced competition require the bird to start itÂ’s hunt from a perch, with the Falconer releasing the flitter from a cage 10 feet away. Stay firm and donÂ’t let their dislike of new situations make you rush back to them. They need to learn that youÂ’ll come back in your own time and they should wait."

"There is only one other command youÂ’ll begin instruction with today. That command is Come. Generally, come is much easier to teach, but useful in many ways. I will now demonstrate Come, which is Kyna in Ramathian, by the way." Once again, he stepped back, set the bird on the ground gently and gave it a command. "Aven, Tsui." Then he moved out to the end of the leash, letting the bird stay settled on the ground 15 feet away from him. After a good twenty seconds, he spoke again. "Aven, Kyna." The little hawk leapt into the air fearlessly and flew to his outstretched wrist.

"Notice that I offered my arm to the bird with the command. ItÂ’s important to make it clear the hawk exactly where it is to come to. Remember to stay firm on the stays. In fact, you do not need to begin the come training during this class. It would actually be best to get your bird to stay to the end of the leash before you begin with come.

Please spend the rest of the class working on Stay and Come. Watch your leads, you donÂ’t want them to tangle, either with themselves or with another lead."
The Professor stepped back, letting the class have the field to work so he could watch over the proceedings.

  14. Thi smiled. If she could just get Panik to stop paniking she could tell Professor exactly what she wanted. -Panik, Tsui- She said and held her hand, palm up, facing Panik to try to incorporate a gesture with that. When she had stretched the lead to no less than 2 feet after the longest distance she had reached before, Panik began shifting about nervously.

-Panik, Tsui!- She said firmly and walked even further away which caused Panik to scream in terror. A frown rested on Thi's face. -Ok, Panik, Kyna- She said and extended her arm. Panik launched into the arm and flew over. Thi was only a few short feet from the professor so she set Panik down again.

-Panik, Tsui- she said yet again and finished her walk to the professor. Panik watched her with wary eyes. -Professor, I need to speak to you about something- She said. she looked to Panik who shifted back and forth. -Panik, tsui. I promise I'll be back soon- With that, Panik quit her restless shifting and turned to groom her feathers.

  15. Salme listened to the new instructions that the profesor had given. She looked to Inarik who was happily perched on her arm and sighed. She walked back to her own work space and kneeled down once again, letting her bird off her arm onto the ground. "Inarik Tsui." She said strenly, Inarik seemed to have gotten the hang of the stay comand. She still decided it would be best to practice with the suggestions the profesor had made. She turned and walked a few feet away, now confident that Inarik did not need the eye contact any more. She walk some 10 feet away before turning back to Inarik.

The bird shuffled, ready for her owner to come back, or call her to her. But Salme did not say anything, she stood there for a few moments, keeping her eyes on those of Inarik. She waited until Inarik had settled and then called her bird to her. "Inarik Kyna!" She said happily. Sure enough the silver bird spread her wings and happily landed on Salme's outstreached arm. Salme figured this was only because the bird had heard it's name. She walked back to the staring point and set Inarik down again. "Ok Inarik Tsui." She said before turning and walking away. She was 15 feet away when she turned back this time, and Inarik seemed a little distressed. Salme felt like running to her little Trisk and comforting it, but she resisted the urge and stood there firmly. She did not move untill the bird had once again sttled down. "Kyna." Salme tried it without saying the bird's name to see if Inarik would get it. Inarik did not move at all. She said it again. "Kyna, come on, Kyna!" She said. Inarik stired a bit, and Salme held out her arm further to prompt her. Finaly Inarik flew hesitantly over to Salme, still seeming a bit confused. Salme did this again and again.

  16. Eka walked over and watched as the teacher showed the next part of their training, she preferred this. To be standing there had having the trisk flying straight at her felt great. Once he had finished Eka moved back into there working space and started again. She coxed Antirian on to the ground, took hold of the leach and walked away slowly. When ever she saw that her hawk was about to move she would say, ‘Tsui’.

Once she was about 13ft away, which was their record a few moments ago Eka turned to her trisk and extended her arm. The only problem was her hawk was looking at something else, she seemed to have gotten board of Eka walking away slowly and was looking at some bug walking in the grass in front of her. Eka frowned, <span style='color:green'>Antirian, Kyna."</span> It was then that the trisk let out a screech, but not of being upset, she was just happy to tale to the air. That made Eka’s smile turn, the joy of flight still applied to birds, even if it is their natural talent. She stroked the bird on her for arm.<span style='color:green'>“Just beautiful."</span> She whispered to the bird. She then put her down on the ground once again, this time was she walked away she made sure that her hawk was paying attention to her, calling her when she got far enough and going a little father each time. It gave her a great feeling of fulfillment.

  17. Ebony called Resina to rest on her wrist as the professor explained the next command. She watched closely how the bird behaved towards her professor and was impressed with the close bond that they obviously had. As she gently scratched the crook behind Resina's head, she hoped that one day she and Resina would have a similar bond too. Having finished instructing them, the professor set them to work. Ebony knealt down again away from the other students and tapped the turf Resina Tsui she said as the bird landed on the turf, her silver feathers glistening. Ebony stepped backwards slowly as she held the lead, Resina hopping forward only once before proceeding to preen her feathers.

When a suitable distance away, Ebony raised her arm and called out to Resina Resina Kyna Resina screeched as she took to the air, flying straight to Ebony's outstretched arm. Good girl Ebony said as she stroked Resina again and made her way back to the spot she'd placed Resina at before practising the excersise again

  18. Nafel studied the professor as he demonstrated the new command. The birds seemed to like coming to their owner much better than staying away, for fairly obvious reasons. Nafel knew that she wouldn't want to stray too far away from the person that brought her food. However, she still needed to work on Tsui. During the demonstration, Asarian had hop-flapped closer to Nafel, and so now she was within arm's reach. Nafel sighed and stepped back, so she was five feet away.

<span style='color:#00cccc'>"Asarian, tsui"</span> The bird still hopped closer. Nafel tried again, ignoring the failed attempt. This time, though, she made eye contact with the silver hawk, and she stayed. Nafel was relieved, she was tired of not being able to have Asarian follow the command. The turquoise femme backed away a few more feet, the lead still lose. <span style='color:#00cccc'>"Tsui."</span> Though she didn't make eye contact this time, Asarian still remained ten feet away. <span style='color:#00cccc'>Oh, they must be flying towards us when they hear their names. That makes sense.</span> Nafel backed up further, to the end of the lead. At the command this time, Asarian didn't even hesitate. She'd learned the command.

Now Nafel was going to begin on the other, Kyna. <span style='color:#00cccc'>"Asarian, kyna."</span> Asarian got into the air, but make an abrupt noise of surprise and landed on the ground. Nafel gave a startled yelp, and looked for what was causing the problem. She finally spotted it: the lead had tangled around her bird's foot somehow. It seemed to have worked itself into a knot, and she didn't want to hurt the hawk, so she raised her free hand for the teacher's attention. <span style='color:#00cccc'>"Professor! My bird's lead is tangled... how do I fix it without hurting her?"</span>

Turning to Thi, Turrush nodded as he started to speak. "About whaÂ…" He would have finished the sentence if the avian screech haden rent the air with a panicked tone. The additional plea for help drew him to the exact location quickly. "WeÂ’ll talk after class." He said little more as he moved across the field quickly, calling out preliminary instructions. "Keep her on the ground, in your lap. Make sure she dosenÂ’t flap first and get her to clam down befor you try." Once he was up to the pair, and they had followed his instructions, he started to give Nafel a second set.

"Careful check her wings first, and make sure sheÂ’s not tangles. Check her neck and body, then and make sure theyÂ’re all clear of the lead. Once sheÂ’s clear, free up her legs. Just go slow, and calm the bird if you need to. Better to do it slowly without hurting the bird than to hurt the bird."

    <table class=ooc><tr><td>Hehe, no problem. ^_^</td></tr></table>

Nafel nodded at the professor's directions, forcing herself to calm down. She knew that if she were freaked out, Asarian might pick up on it, and then that would spiral into something worse. Still holding the tip of the lead, she walked towards the bird, sitting next to her. Nafel was making cooing noises, mostly nonsense, so that the bird would calm down. She seemed to, a little at least. She didn't object when Nafel picked her up and placed her in her lap. <span style='color:#00cccc'>Alright... wings first. She was flapping them earlier, and I can't see anything, so they're all right.</span>

Nafel ran her fingers over the bird's neck and chest, feeling for the leather strap. It wasn't there, either. At this point, Asarian was still fidgity. Nafel stroked her head and gently ruffled the feathers until Asarian had calmed again. She picked up the feet of the bird, seeing how the strap had gotten tangled. It seemed that when Asarian was hopping around, she had got it twisted around one of her feet, and the talon had caught in it.

It was simple to fix, once Nafel found the problem, so Asarian was free in a few minutes. The lead, however, had a small tear in it from where Asarian's talon had caught. Nafel figured this wasn't good, as it made the leather weaker. She let Asarian out of her lap and settled her on her wrist, and walked over to the teacher. She held out the damaged lead as she explained what happened. <span style='color:#00cccc'>"Her talon got caught on this... There's a tear, now. Does it need to be fixed?"</span>
