Mia, 39, 81380; Sunrise Under a tree in the Courtyard of Janardan http://shadowlack.com/persona.php?id=1063Render Khilyr</a> Open to all! Come on in. (Ignore the cheesy title?) PG-13 Render got up surprisingly early compared to his schedule that was planned over the years he has spent at Janardan. Unlike most of his mornings, he got out of bed without a reluctant groan. His dorm welcomed him as it always does -- giving him a nagging feeling of actually picking up the place and that odd smell of cammarill berry yogurt being left unattended for too long. He slipped on baggy khaki pants, tied a crude rope around his waist, and pulled on stripped armwarmers. He didn't bother tightening the belt that strapped the two sleeves together. For good measure, he pulled a pair of ear warmers as well. This attire wasn't that different compared to his usual. Carpet-like fur and a mess of white hair was enough to keep the cold out... usually. Render examined his clawed toes until he met the foyer's doors. The crisp morning air blew around remains of snow. Render swayed his tail playfully as he walked across the frostbitten ground. A growing smirk that caused his draconic snout to wrinkle was his simple response to the sun that has just shown its warm face upon Janardan grounds. He didn't dare to brake into a childish run. Instead, he just rubbed his fingers against the wooden 'dragon flute in his pocket. To put it simply: Render is a klutz. Him with some sort of musical instrument almost screamed foul play. The flute made sense, all the same. Render loved nothing more than tinkering with Machina. He seemed to always get the blueprints right. All the cogs and makeshift gears worked in perfect harmony. There was one thing Render had to practice: Giving life to its well-made shafts. Machina is nothing without its power source. "Take this," Seyg said gruffly. Render instantly took the instrument into his hands. After inspecting the v-shaped thing, he said bluntly, "It's a flute." Seyg rolled her pale gray eyes. "What amazing interpreting skills you have." She said sarcastically. Render only grinned. It was beautifully made. But why would a flute help him? "What do I use it for?" The oldest sibling groaned. Her midnight pelt flicked when she hit the back of her head against the wall that she had her gray wings perched against. "You couldn't tell a magical item if it bit you in the ass." Render laughed at that and agreed. "What you do-" Seyg raised one white finger. "-is that you use kinetic ability to give life to the flute. It's really not that hard. It's just like you give life to your gizmos. You know, it's a practice toy so you don't make any more messes in my shop." Render had made his way to an enormous tree. One that he loved bracing his bare back against. He smiled when he saw the spot that he usually sat. Studying, creativity, and now flute playing will take place under its branches. Render pulled a round, colorful ball out of his pocket and tossed it on the ground. It inflated into a chest (one of his working inventions) in which he sat on. He leaned against the tree's oddly soft bark and gently removed his v-shaped instrument. It took a while to get the thing floating in between his palms the way he wanted. It seemed all he had to do was hum a tune in his head, and the flute- more or less -replayed it. He was told this flute portrayed an emotion when he was lost in the music. A dangerous weapon when someone was around. Right now, it wasn't about anyone else. It was about Render and the song he had let choose its own path more than ten minutes ago. All the mahogany 'dragon did was sit with a content look on his face. (( OOC: The blue was hurting my eyyyeees~ x__X; ))
((ooc: Mind awfully if I join using http://shadowlack.com/persona.php?id=1072Sayoshi</a>? ^^; I thought I'd try-out my new character.)) A book clasped between her gloved hands, the young pendragon had been more than happy concentrating upon her reading until the moment the music filled her ears. A slow but true smile appeared on her pale lips, and the teen felt her eyes wander, seeking the source of the music. As to not draw attention to her curiosity, Sayoshi moved her book closer towards her icy blue optics, biting her lip slightly. It was a self-concious habit, but what Sayoshi did not realize was that it only made her appear more suspicious. She tried hard to listen for the sound, underneath her thick, bright pink hat which was doing an excellent job of blocking out background noise and a fairly poor job of keeping her head warm. Eventually giving up on this plan, she sighed, removing the item of clothing from her head and stuffing it into the pocket of her fleecy white coat, which came down to the knee of her smart pinstriped trousers. Instantly, the volume of the song seemed to be turned up, and the smile upon the snowy 'Dragon's face grew. Removing herself from the cold stone wall she had been perched upon to read her book, Sayoshi made her way through the melting snow, following her ears and leaving a trail of odd footprints in what was left of the snow as she went. A thought passed over her mind as she came closer to the source; one of her favourite quotations, in actual fact. The smile that had dwindled as Sayoshi concentrated returned, as she played the phrase over her mind like some kind of tape stuck in the recorder, playing the same message over and over. What angel wakes me from my flowery bed? Well, Sayoshi was keen to find out. She just hoped that whatever "angel" it was didn't have a problem with company, which Sayoshi knew all too well some people didn't like at such an early hour. Even she had come out to be alone, and to catch up on her reading for an hour or so. If one had asked her the time or day, she would not have been able to answer, but then again, Sayoshi spent most of her days on her own private cloud. Still in some sort of a trance, it wasn't until the adolescent tripped over her untied bootlace that she was jolted into reality with a sharp thud. It had to be said that the performance was rather spectacular to watch. Sayoshi seemed to fly forward, and then do a miniture and seemingly awkward forward roll, until she ended up sitting about four feet opposite the tree under which the other 'Dragon and his flute were located. Groaning slightly, Sayoshi sat up and rubbed her head, scowling down at her feet with a look of pure loathing for the thick black laces on her rubber boots. It was her father's fault. He'd suggested them because her feet were so small. Something to do with her feeling the cold and blowing over in the wind. Sayoshi had obliged, but she had other plans for the boots, involving her witch of a stepmother's bare feet.
(( OOC: Eee, new charas are fun. Fantastic post, by the way. (You're a House fan too? ^^ ) )) It was almost embarrassing for Render to say that he had grown very attached to the instrument. Anyone could tell why. The embarrassment of sitting in an area with other 'dragons would force Render into a more secluded place. As his ability to play the flute grew rapidly, his embarrassment would shrink. From empty classrooms, to his dorm, until he reached the courtyard of Janardan, Render almost felt like a traveling performer. Throughout the term he had had his hands on the flute, he had never actually lured anyone towards the music. Render, keeping his aquamarine eyes closed when the music shifted to a seductive tone from a slow lullaby, heard the very audible fall of Sayoshi. Render dared to open one eye. It took a breathtaking amount of energy to throw him back into the real world. Maybe just a peak wouldn't hurt. Most likely it was just the tree behind him... dropping pinecones two times bigger than the average 'dragon. Instead of seeing the brown, acorn-shaped figure of a pinecone, he saw almost a blinding white. That instantly told him that it wasn't a pinecone... A figure began to come into fuzzy view, sprawled out on the frosty grass. Hello reality check. The graceful sound of the music was idling until it made a sharp choke. It physically threw Render into a hunch, sputtering dizzily. Nothing was fully in focus when Render was kneeling at the teen's side. "Are you okay? Are you hurt?" It all came out in one breath. Render was at a loss to do. Instead of pummeling her with more questions, Render placed the flute he still held tightly with one hand onto the ground subconsciously. "I-is there anything I could do?" Render didn't offer his hand right of the top of the conversation. After the third question, he figured it might have been a good idea to help the other 'dragon onto her feet. He gently held out a clawed hand for the girl to grasp onto for support. "I-I'm sorry," Render stuttered an apology to the girl. He had just began to notice how pretty she was. He felt his cheeks get warm. Luckily, the brown coat was a good shield. There was really nothing Render could do except hope that she wasn't a telepath and brag towards his childlike crush. "Are you okay?" He echoed himself, looking down on the silver blonde 'dragon. Ironically, their pale hair matched.
((ooc: Heh, I am indeed! =D)) Looking up from her boots, Sayoshi's blue eyes focused on the 'dragon speaking to her. Her cheeks almost instantly seemed to glow red. Her gloved hand dropped to her side and she smiled slightly, nodding. <span style='color:CC6699'>"I believe so. No broken bones as far as I can tell."</span> Taking his hand for support, Sayoshi slowly pulled herself up and brushed the water from her coat. <span style='color:CC6699'>"No need to apologize, unless you untied my shoes when I wasn't looking."</span> Sayoshi giggled, shaking her head and then bending down to tie her shoelaces. As she did so, the 'dragon glanced up at Render. <span style='color:CC6699'>"Actually, I came to compliment you on your flute playing."</span> Sayoshi explained, in a relatively quiet voice. She never had been good at giving compliments, especially when embarassed. Straightening up again, she checked for injury by performing a short walk and back again. Confident that she had survived the fall unscathed, Sayoshi chanced a small smile at the other 'dragon, still blushing furiosly.
The whole mood seemed to lighten when the 'dragon gave a laugh at her own joke. Render politely held back a sigh of relief and chuckled a bit himself. "Don't worry, it wasn't me... although I have seen some suspicious looking characters recently," Sayoshi did a practice walk -- something Render did himself when trying on the numerous shoes that has been picked out by his family. Nothing seemed to fit his draconic feet. (A couple of Seyg's potions have gone terribly wrong when it came to fitting his feet into shoes.) Render's feet has developed a thickness that worked very well due to the fact that Render has never found a shoe for him. "My flute playing?" Render was taken aback. By the time he responded to Sayoshi's complement, Render had found himself sitting on the chest, tucking the instrument into his pocket. The 'dragon wanted to tell the girl that he had been avoiding people when he touched his flute. Render didn't dislike the flute, yet there was a nagging in his stomach that he would be teased. Not that he hasn't been before. His flute was a more personal thing; he kept it to himself and hasn't even told half of his family that he owned one. "Was it really that good?" Render grinned widely. Most of the things he did turned out disastrous. Of course, it had to be the things he didn't show people that he was good at. Render gave a scoot to the left on the chest. He curled his tail around the left side, his tail flame dancing brightly next to a khaki pant leg. "Would you like to sit down?" He offered. Render had good intentions. He also loved interacting with people. This time it was a pretty girl. "Here, I might even have something that we could eat. I know I'm starting to get hungry. Render dug in his pockets until finding another colored ball. He tossed it in the air and caught a loaf of misshapen bread. "Aw, no," Render glared at the loaf that looked remarkably similar to the head of one of the professor's at Janardan. "The bread went in dome shaped... I guess fitting it into a bouncy ball messed it up a little," Render looked at the girl with a smile. His cheeks began to glow again. "I may not be that clever with magic, but I'm pretty sure the chefs here know how to cook bread."
((ooc: I'm really sorry for not posting...I'll try to at some point before tomorrow evening...I've got problems with school and my dad at the moment so I've been so busy I kind of forgot about the internet..))
<span style='color:CC6699'>Thanks."</span> Sayoshi replied, as Render allowed her space to sit down. She smiled shyly, nodding in response to his reply about the flute. <span style='color:CC6699'>"I'm not any great musician, but I know what I like and what I don't."</span> she stated, shrugging her shoulders slightly and watching her breath rise in a minature cloud from her mouth. Sayoshi accepted the food with great enthusiasm- she was extremely hungry due the fact that her dorm mates didn't appreciate being woken early in the morning by the smell of Sayoshi's cooking. Though she loved the art, Yoshi herself would admit that she was no great expert with food and lacked practice. She sighed slightly, as her cooking skills always disappointed the teenager, but she soon perked up, biting into the bread. The smile upon her face widened slightly, but still had that shyness noticable in it. <span style='color:CC6699'>"I think it tastes good- better than my bread, anyway, which either burns or is too hard to eat."</span> Well, the wasn't strictly true- Sayoshi had encountered a few rather odd 'Dragons in the past that didn't seem to mind her food being hard or burnt.
<span style='width:100%;font-weight:bold; font-size:10px'>Out of Character</span> <table class='ooc'><tr><td>Character: http://shadowlack.com/persona.php?id=865Togaj Amajdi</a></td></tr></table> <span style='color:orange'>The brightly coloured anubi walked into the courtyard happily eating her bowl o' noodles, 'What a wonderful day,' She turned and noticed the other two 'dragons, so, in her happy way, started walking over to them. When she was less than 5 metres to where they sat, her paw caught something and she started falling. Being a telekinetic anubi she could've easily caught herself from hitting the ground. Instead she valiantly saved her noodles from their horrible fate. She on the other hand smacked right into the ground, face first. She got up slowly, eyes tearing, and rubbed her nose, 'Oww....' She sniffled a few times to prevent herself from crying then quickly put on her happy face as if none of that had happened. All the while, a small line of blood ran down her face, "Hi, I'm Togaj."</span>
<span style='color:CC6699'>"Ohmigosh."</span> Sayoshi squealed, nearly dropping her bread. She never had liked the sight of blood. She reached into her coat pocket and offered the anubi a tissue. <span style='color:CC6699'>"Are you okay? I've got a plaster if you need one..."</span> And to prove her point, Sayoshi produced a pink bandage with little yellow stars upon it. <span style='color:CC6699'>"I'm Sayoshi..."</span> (ooc: Sorry about the wait!)
<span style='color:orange'>Togaj smiled brightly and retrieved the cup of noodles, "Pleasure to meet you." She sat beside the two, wiped the blood from her face, laughing slightly, and returned to her lunch.</span>
