Dyo, 81383 ((I randomly came up with a title)) Lylesu sat across the street from the Watering Hole. She stared up at the building wondering if she should go into the well known restaurant. Her tail flicked back and forth as she contemplated if she had enough money. "Well, I've come this far. Why not? I can get a job later...." She muttered to herself in her gentle voice, whilst standing up and carefully stretching her wings. She watched the other pendragons, no sign of her family. She sighed and looked at the sky. It was a sunny day, and soft breeze was ruffling her fur.
[ooc]I like the title :3 One thing though, you need to choose a day, between 1 and 50, in Dyo for the timestamp.[/ooc] Cilea walked the the busy Watani streets with her overly large sunglasses covering her eyes and her music player ear bugs stuck in her ears. She was making a leisurely return from her part-time jig, playing piano during the quiet hours at a small Piano Bar. What she enjoyed about her dark sunglasses was her ability to watch the other 'dragons without their noticing. People had become a favorite pass time of hers. She was also greatful for how much they dimmed the light reflecting off of some pendragons. On closer inspection, it looked to be a young thill contemplating where to eat for lunch. "You're not thinking of going to eat there are you?" Cilea tapped the pinked furred 'dragon on her shoulder, nodding her head in the direction of The Watering Hole. "They practically rob you blind.".
17 Dyo [ooc]There we go![/ooc] "Oh, is that so?" Lylesu asked looking at the blue pendragon. "I just know it's well known. I figured that since I made it all the way down here, might as well try it." Her big brown eyes looked innocently at the older pendragon. "By the way, do you know where a songstress of basic level could get a job?" She asked her nearly white hair swaying in the Dyo breeze.
Cilea pushed up her shades and popped the ear buds from her ears, pushing them into her shoulder bag. She was happy that the young thill hadn't just shrugged off her words, it made life more interesting to try and talk to someone new everyday, if only for a few minutes, or at least that was her philosophy for the last year. "Fame comes with high prices. It is a nice place though, I'll give them that." She let out a light chuckle at the question. "Heh, if I knew an opening for a singer I would jump on it." It was true that Watani has a few trendy areas that were exploding in musical culture, but it was still a really hard climate to break into. "I take it you're not from around here then?" Her eyes squinting in the sun.
Lylesu giggled. "No, I just came here from the west. Perhaps I should try being a street performer. Just sing and put a bucket out for money on the streets!" Lylesu said, her eyes glinting at the prospect. Her stomach growled and she sighed, "Either way, I'm running out of money..."
"Street performer could be a place to start." Cilea said, thinking with her head tilted to one side. "But it won't earn you enough to live on." Her ears twitched to the sound of the young thills stomach. The thought of the girl alone and hungry on the street stirred some old fears, fears that involved guilt on her side. "How 'bout this," She began to propose, "I'll take you to lunch, on me, to a little place that has all sorts of musical jigs coming and going. Some times bands looking for new members stop by, it's a long shot but either way it's a fun little place to know. What do you say?" She flashed one of her most friendly smiles.
Lylesu looked at Cilea like she was her savior. "You are the best pendragon to ever live!" Lylesu said her eyes big and trusting. She thought about the offer. If she ever found her older brother again, he would scold her for trusting a stranger. She looked up at Cilea, "Is there anything I can do for you? she asked.
Cilea smiled a crooked smile as Lylesu praised her, feeling a little embarrassed now. She waved her paw in a 'don't-worry-about-it' kind of way. "I left home around the same age in the hopes to pursue music. It was hard at the beginning so I know how it feels. A little confusing and overwhelming, but don't worry, it's worth it if you really love it." She jerked her head westward with a wink, "The place is this way." She turned and started walking at moderate pace. "So you're a singer you said, what do you like to sing? Do you play any instruments?" Cilea loved to meet other musicians, she always found them easiest to get along with. But she hoped she wasn't scaring off the younger girl.
"Well, I'll sing anything really. It depends on my mood. I don't play an instrument so...." Lylesu said following Cilea. "And I didn't really leave home, we got separated in a storm," She informed the older pendragon. ((Sorry, I was out of town for a while and didn't have access to a computer.))
((Hehe, a few days wait is hardly noticeable for me :p)) "Ahh, so you're looking to be a leading lady." Cilea joked playfully, she'd admit, it was a position she would die for. To stand at the lead and have screaming fans sing along with you, ahh the dream. A somber looked crossed Cilea's face as a sympathetic frown formed on her lips upon hearing the news. "I'm sorry." Her voice had lost it's bounce but was replaced with a whisper of concern. Even though she had left home on a sour note she still considered herself close with her family, she couldn't imagine loosing them. "I guess you're looking for them then?' They turned another corner, getting nearer to their destination.
"Yes," Lylesu replied. "It's been five years since we got separated and I just recently set out to find them. I stayed in a nearby village, one close to my own, but they never came. So, I decided to stop sitting around waiting and set off to find them." Her tail swished as she walked. "No need to be sorry." She said as if it were a simple and obvious thing. After all, looking for her family certainly gave her something to do, and had been quite the adventure so far.
Five years of waiting, that was a long time. How long had she been waiting for Mae to contact her? Three years, maybe she could take a lesson from this young thill and go out looking for her. It was a brave move. It was then that she realized that who she was talking to didn't have a name. "I'm Cilea by the way." She offered, trying to bring some light back to the conversation. "So I guess part one of your plan is trying to find a way to make money. Have you given any thought to part two?" They turned the last corner to a slightly less busy street and Cilea came to a stop in front of a small building that was squeezed between a music antiques store and a large office building. An artistic looking sign over the main door read, SinPhony City in a graffiti like font. Cilea walked up to the door and opened it for the younger femme, "After you."
"Thank you! I'm Lylesu! And.... well...part two is to look for places where my family would most likely be..." Lylesu said. She pondered this, "But it has been five years, they may have changed.... In interests, you know. She looked around her surroundings, "Cute!" She said swaying slightly.
((Feel free to control any NPCs in the cafe, describe things and just mold the world around them.)) "It's nice to meet you Lylesu. She said, testing the name out on her own tongue. "Before you start wondering around you may want to find a place to stay, sadly I can't help you there, I don't know the local hotels or anything." Walking through the door they entered a well lit cafe, small round tables lined the main window, along the wall on the left was the counter to place orders at and behind that was the bar supplies that were used later at night. In the back corner on the right was a small stage where a few 'dragons were currently backing up their instruments having just finished a mid-day set. The shop always had a casual atmosphere which was why Cilea loved coming here so much, she guided them over to one of the open window tables and took a seat. "Yeah, five years is a pretty long time," Not to mention the fact that they might believe her to be dead, having not seen her for so long. But she kept that thought to herself. "but time is nothing when it comes to family." Cilea picked up the one sheet that served as a menu, scanning it for any recent changes. "How long have you been in the city? Had the chance to play tourist yet?"
Lylesu took a seat across from Cilea. "Oh, no, I only just got here yesterday. So what do you recomend?" She asked looking at the menu, licking her lips. She snuck a longing glance at the stage. It had been a long time since she'd sang in public. "I guess it's not so long, you know, for family. But, it does get annoying. I bet you that the day after I left the town I'd been staying in before looking for my family, my big brother showed up!"
Cilea read the menu, thinking over which dishes she had tried already and her thoughts about them. "The 'High Note Salad' is surprisingly spicy," Some of the platters had cheesy music related names while other had nice straight forward titles. "while the 'Soloist Sidedish' has a nice selection of of sweet pastries. The cafe didn't have to much along the lines of large meals, serving more bite sized finger foods for people on the go, or with the idea to get people on the dance floor when there was a show going on. Her own green eye's followed Lylesu's to the stage, wondering if the young thill was tempted to go up there. "Fate has a funny way or working like that." She replied to the idea of her brother showing up in the town, turning her head back to the pendragon. "What have been your first impression of the city so far?" She herself had a soft spot for the large complex, it was easy enough to get here from the academy, meaning she spent most of her free time here. Mostly for the chance to catch shows and do her own gig.
"Hm.... well it is very interesting. Definitely busy. The Soloist Sidedish sounds good. If I wanted to sing, should I just go up there or should I ask someone?" Lylesu asked looking up a Cilea. She suddenly recalled her mother's words. "Some people may be bad, but there are far more people willing to help you than hurt you. It may surprise you. I know it surprised me when I figured it out." Her mother had said. Lylesu smiled, Cilea is one of the good people, she concluded.
A playful smiled danced across Cilea's face as Lylesu mentioned the stage. The last group had cleaned up there stuff and all that was left was the regular microphone and stereo equipment. "Go for it! There's a basic background music selection on that computer on the left of the stage," she pointed over to a small touch screen machine. "I'll look after this if you want to jump up there."
"Thank you!!" Lylesu said. She quickly jumped up and flipped through the background music. She finally settled on a nice piano piece and hoped on stage. She took a deep breath after two measures of intro and began to sing. Her voice drifted through the restaurant, creating pictures of babbling brooks and tranquil forests and then became a sad melancholy tune.
Ciles discretely waved over one of the waitresses and order for herself and Lylesu once the young thrill had dashed off over to the stage. She waited as the other chose her music, interested in what style she was going to choose. It reminded her of something she herself would play on the piano. Lylesu's had a strong voice that carried well, and she had good control over it, a natural by the sound of it too. Cilea took a chance to look at the dozen or so other people in the cafe to see that some of them were also taking an interest in the young vocalist.
