Nyym is on the prowl for meat (and is a succubus). as a sidenote, i'm going to assume that aquabats don't usually 'walk'. they swim (and have no sidewalks!) so 'traipsing' like Nyym is doing is most peculiar. 'bats do it, just not usually... specially not in the thick of night. -------------------------------------- - - - -- - ----------------- - - - He wasn't coming back. <font color=gold>"Lar..."</font> She stroked his tombstone affectionately, longing for a response. <font color=gold>"What will they do without you?"</font> Her words were half-mast, softened like her features by sorrow. The filtered moonlight poured over the shadowy scene and, for a moment, she wore a watery halo. Ironic, wasn't it? <font color=gold>"What will I..."</font> Her words trailed off and got swallowed by the graveyard's suffocating silence. Although the graveyard was small and prone to even the slightest disturbance, it was also the middle of the night in Rvylluem and the town's entire population slumbered. It was almost like they were also breathing the same shallow sleep-breath, pulsing like a single organism. Inhale... exhale... inhale... The Kalbeda pack's beta had long since been deceased and here she hung around, sickly fawning over his grave, and not for the first time either during that paquite. Lar hadn't meant too much to her, in honest, but they had something going. They'd shared secrets... and then some. Who was going to fed her then? Her aquatic fetish was a little difficult to keep alive. The town didn't trust her. She'd come in unannounced one day, a stranger with fire hair, and swam freely within the town without a brand or a mark. As fluid as the very liquid they lived in, she was utterly ignorant of the rules and boundaries they'd imposed there and the core structure of their packs. Most locals had begun to hate her. When they knew she'd sprung up a friendship with Kalbeda's beta, they were up in arms. <i>That</i> seaweed? Clearly, Lar had lost it. Nyym, or Yin as she told them, paid them no attention. She stuck around barely long enough for anyone other than Lar to sink their teeth in anyway. Changing her appearance was fine, but maintaining an entirely different respiratory system? Not quite as simple. She barely ever spent more than a day... most usually a night. Sighing wistfully, she drew away from the grave and began towards the graveyard's entrance. As her movement was slow, she managed to just traipse over the silty ocean floor. Her fins, long and exquisite, like those of a fanciful koi, trailed in wedding dress fashion behind her. Alabaster and nude, she looked like a ghost. </font></div></td></tr></table>
Vanti had been hearing various tales of a graveyard ghost for some time when he had arrived at Ryv' Geyser. From what he was told by what Vanti had judged 'sane enough to listen to', he became curious, but at the same time, doubtful. He dared to speak up and say it was just an urban legend, but was then dared to go check it out. Normally, he would just skip out and say he went and saw the ghost, but the story was far too hyped up to pass. And so, he sat behind a tombstone, aways from the stone the ghost was said to visit. From dusk into the dark, he sat, patiently waiting, fiddling with rocks, scratching them on the stone he lay against, leaving doodles to pass the time. He was just about to get up and just go, but when he was halfway up, he saw something through the moonlit waters and hid back down. Was this the ghost of the graveyard, or some midnight visiter? He hoped she was just the latter.

He was passing by a graveyard; it was quiet and very creepy. Though graveyards tended to be creepy anyways. He swam along, a few feet above the ground and on his back. He had his hands behind his head and he slowly kicked his feet. God he was bored. Tilting his head to look into the graveyard as he went by, he noticed something really odd and out of place. <b style="color:#0085f4">"Whoa..."</b> he managed as he stopped swimming and righted himself to where he was floating above the ground. Staring wasn't very nice, he knew, but he was baffled. Was that a ghost or a real person? They were coming his way since he was at the entrance. So, instead of standing there gaping at the.. person... thing, he decided to do the smart thing. <b style="color:#0085f4">"Hello?"</b> Hopefully it was just someone visiting a grave cause... well, to be honest, it'd be a little awkward talking to a ghost. <table width="90%" cellpadding=10><tr><td> <font face=verdana style="font-size:12px; line-height:16px;"> <div style="text-align: justify;"> The silver moonlight flickered overhead... the shadow of a passing creature. She glanced up, the callous speed of her movement breaking the serenity her sadness had brought. Hmn, who was visiting her at this hour? She saw nothing. Knowing no fear or suspicion, she was about to take another inching step forward when Sydney's soft voice caused her to stumble. Her body fell back against the embrace of the water and her toes, oddly long for that of an aquabat but ever convincingly webbed, hung in the air... I mean, water. <font color=gold>"Don't you think it's a poor time of night to go around greeting people? And a poor choice of location?"</font> Nyym hissed. Her tail fanned gently behind her, rustling the fine silt of the ground. Sand-dwelling fish darted out from beneath in annoyance at the disruption. Did <i>she</i> know what fues of the night it was? She placed her hands, small and porcelain, over her chest so that her arms with their trailing fin hid her breasts. Nyym hadn't fashioned herself in the best mood to be approached and made this all the more evident as she brushed by the arden, ready to move on passed him. Then... a thought. At first she dispelled it. But... well, her eyes moved greedily over Syd's form with the sharp light of decision. She could feel heat in the water surrounding him. <i>'Make a friend,'</i> her mind cooed. <font color=gold>"What are you doing here? Do you know somebody in there?"</font> As horrendous as it was, she hoped his answer would be 'yes'. Then she might know what affiliations he had. Ryv was a heated place of pack dispute, y'know. </font></div></td></tr></table>
Vanti watched curiously at the two graveyard patrons. Now 75% sure this thill was no ghost, he mind wandered to other things of the duo. Having some knowledge of the Aquabat packs and their rivalries, he assumed this could have something to do with shady business, gang connections, or otherwise things he should not get involved in, and keep his mouth shut about it lest have some object going at lightspeed through his skull. Or, it could be a tad more dangerous than that... Perhaps the two had an affair oing on, and the male would, more or less, break every bone in Vanti's frail body if the relationship was threatened. Whichever it was, the poor Aquabat was faced with a choice; stay where he was in hopes that they'll go elsewhere, or make a dash (Or swim) to safety. Both possessed danger whichever way it was looked at, so what else would the youth choose other than the latter? Vanti steeled his nerves and slowly started off, trying to use stones or landforms as cover. Is only hope at the moment was that they couldn't sense the vibrations in the water, or see him clumsily making an exit.

It wasn't like he was expecting to run into someone as he passed by the sad place, let alone a gorgeous and rather naked female. Unlike any other guy that could've been in his place, he wasn't ogling as much as any other would be. He seemed more entranced by those lovely fins of hers before tilting a brow and correcting himself with a quirky smile. The lovely lady brushed past him looking a lot less than enthusiastic to keep some sort of interaction going and he shrugged a little, definitely not wanting to bother her if she wanted to go. But then she didn't look like she was in a rush and spoke a question again; he looked politely attentive. <b style="color:#0085f4">"Luckily for me, no,"</b> he replied, the gentle lines that creased his face ever handsomely appeared as his smile seemed to warm up. <b style="color:#0085f4">"I was just passing by."</b> His family was quite a ways from here and he had no friends in this new place he'd just found. But then something distracted him; movement in the cemetery. Unlikely for their soon-to-be new buddy, with Syd being a marine biologist he was well tuned to any movements in the water anywhere near him. The older 'dragon was quite keen and quick to turn around, <b style="color:#0085f4">"Hey kid,"</b> he called out friendlily, guessing that the stranger was younger because, well, who in their right mind would hide in a cemetery and then try and sneak off? <b style="color:#0085f4">"Don't be shy! The softness of her pallid features was spoiled all too soon by curves and lines of disapproval. Who the Kyttle hung behind gravestones at the very peak of night? Idiot nioti, ruining her prime chance to ensnare the night's prey. Glancing over Syd once more, however, she decided perhaps it was for the better... he seemed too sweet and unsullied to have fallen for her wiles. She angled her slender snout in the direction of the hastily retreating Vanti. Helplessly, her lips arched with a sinister curve. <font color=gold>"That's too bad..."</font> she murmured under her breath in response to his 'no'. She spoke under the assumption that his focus was, presently, fixed on Vanti. More audibly, she added, <font color=gold>"You're not from around here, are you?"</font> In the still waters of the night one could hear faint clicks and whistles sounding from one of the nearby households, likely the sound of a disgruntled pet reacting to Sydney's late-night shouting, and from a distance the vibrations of a great beast moving.... likely a Ramathian whale of some sort. Deep down inside, however, Nyym could not help but fear it might be the rousing of a http://shadowlack.com/life/fauna.php?id=23cruork</a>, baited by hunger in this secluded space of sea. So haunted by this thought was she that she missed Sydney's introduction. Instead, she fixed her eyes more pointedly on Vanti and she hissed loudly at him in a wave of thought-speak, <font color=gold><i>'Com'on, unless you want to be eaten.'</font></i> </font></div></td></tr></table>
Vanti froze right on the spot before slowly turning around. I'm going to get it, I'm going to freakin' die! He thought to himself. He was caught trying to make his clumsy escape. He knew very well that if he continued to make an escape, he would be killed, which is what he presumed from many movies he has seen. The two he was previously spying on where now looking his way. The Aquabat arden was just eyeing him curiously, no doubt amused. And the odd thill, likely a shapeshifter, had eyes that felt akin to knives piercing through his flesh. the vibrations of a large aquatic monster stirring from far away chilled Vanti's bones, but not as much as the thought speak of the thill who beckoned him forward. "Please don't kill me. Please don't kill me. Please don't kill me. Please don't kill me. Please don't kill me. Please don't kill me." Vanti whispered/mumbled as he shyly got closer, stopping at what he thought was a safe distance to get a good start from if they did mean him harm. At any given moment, depending on what is said to him, Vanti would, without a doubt, beg for his ever loving life.

Though it might've been easier than she thought; he'd never really experience such a thing so he wouldn't know what they were trying to do. But anyways. With a quick shrug to her question, he smiled politely, <b style="color:#0085f4">"Definitely not,"</b> he said simply, glancing over to spot the young arden coming forward. Though the clicking coming from not so far away didn't bother him much, sensing those vibrations from a bigger creature seemed to bother him a little more. He'd heard of cruorken, but he'd never seen one. From what he had heard about them, he was thankful for that fact. <b style="color:#0085f4">"Come now, we won't bite, but whatever that is might,"</b> Syd said with a teasing chuckle at Vanti's nervousness about getting too close to them. He wasn't really sure if he wanted to keep talking; he sort of wanted to get moving to somewhere safe and less depressing, but he had no idea if Nyym wanted to stick around with them and take them somewhere or something else. Mirroring the water, Nyym's porcelain frame relented to the fear brewing beneath her annoyed appearance with a flesh-prickling shudder. She wanted inside. This much she made clear. <font color=gold>"<i>I'll</i> bite if I stay out here much longer. Although it wasn't out of question for her to head back home, as the teleportation services were on all night, she figured it would be best to do it when the sun came back up again. OOC: Sorry for the wait, I just got away from the holiday season... and a new Wii. This would have to be a short post for now. Vanti came up with an idea at the thought of taking them to his current residence, one of those bad, spur-of-thee-moment ideas that always bring more trouble. "I'm living with relatives just a little ways from here." He blurted. His plan was to act at least a little considerate, in the hopes they (More the thill) would regard him and not kill him in his sleep. He caught the thill's eyes trailing to a grave marker before he spoke again. "I could take you there."

<table width="90%" cellpadding=10><tr><td> <font face=verdana style="font-size:12px; line-height:16px;"> <div style="text-align: justify;"> OOC: a post? dare i say it's true? ------------------- -- - -- ----------------- -- - -- -------------------------- - <font color=gold>"Good. Let's go."</font> The response was curt, but the thill was appeased, evidently. She slid her sallow figure through the warm waters of the geyser until she was at Vanti's side, who she'd now likely inundate with questions. Sydney, on the other hand, took the back seat of her attention and would likely remain there unless she found some way to make use of him. There was nothing upfront about the older arden that she liked -- in fact, she couldn't help but wonder what an older fellow like him was doing lurking around in the dark of night, especially in a town where he had no residence. A paedophile? A rapist? A shady drug peddler? She should've eaten him. <font color=gold>"Your relatives, what pack do they belong to? Are you sure they won't mind us being there?"</font> she inquired at Vanti now, although gently, losing a bit of the off-putting cool that sometimes lacquered her into acting out as an ice queen. But she still questioned with intent... what if his family was from Lars' pack? Then again, any pack hereabouts didn't welcome her too warmly. She was, they'd decided, a stranger with strange ways. And they didn't want any of that. <font color=gold>"I'm Yin, by the way."</font> She angled her eyes onto Vanti, looking at him to respond back in similar fashion. </font></div></td></tr></table>
Vanti swallowed the choking lump forming in his throat. The amount of questions the thill was asking somehow assured him that she wouldn't harm him... if he gave her answers she'd want to here. The arden, on the other hand, concerned him, mainly because of the behavior. He seemed a tad too... how would one put it? Jovial? It had to be some sort of sinister act, either that or he was a grade A idiot. Vanti clenched his right hand. "Who do you belong too?" He replied with a question. "I'll tell both of you if you both tell me. I need to be sure." His questions came with with good, evident reason. He really didn't want to be responsible if they were a known hostile pack and brought some sort of trouble to his relative's home. The thill gave her name, or rather, a possible alias. Again, playing it safe, Vanti scrambled about the letters of his name to come up with his own. "I'm Vaint." Another rumble from the distance. The beast was getting a tad to close for comfort. If things were to get a bit too tight, Vanti would try to make a dash.

He thought about just ditching and heading back to his place to leave these two alone since they didn't seem to care much about him. He was a friendly guy, did he do something wrong? The rumble reminded him that he needed to get to safety and the portal was a little to far to scramble to. Looks like he had no choice but to stick around. He'd leave them alone if they wanted, though. They wouldn't know he was there. Not that they know that anyways. <b style="color:#0085f4">"I'm not from around here,"</b> he replied, basically repeating himself. Content smile he had on his face before seemed to have vanished and he looked a lot less happy than before. Though he'd still be polite even if he mood dropped a bit. His bright eyes turned to survey the surroundings, not feeling the need to introduce himself again since it didn't seem to really matter anymore. Usually he'd be fine with this kind of treatment but it seemed to bother him at the moment. Oh well. <font size=3><b style="color:#dba03f">Means cashing out and giving up.</b></font></div></div><div style="text-align:right;font-size:xx-small">Base code by <a href=http://shadowlack.com/>Shriker!</a></div>
Inwards, the Anubi hesitated... She knew very well that what she told Vaint would alter how he would behave around her, particularly if he was a native to the geyser. Although her life was hardly being threatened at taking such a risk it was still a little disconcerting to have to be expelled from their company at this time in the night. Momentarily glancing on the arden as they slipped silently over the land, she made a hasty decision that her eyes quietly reflected. "Alright, Vaint. If you want to play it that way... I'm not a local." The words were administered suavely, like a drug. "But I'm from the E pack." And thus she flared her nimble fingers outward so that her palm, freshly embossed with E67, so that he might have a peek. Then, halting, she turned abruptly to face Sydney with a serpentine glow in her lambent gaze. "Everybody has a pack, dear. You better pay up." In a family of wolves, Nyymbatta ate the omega. Unfortunately for Syd, he had quickly fallen in the ranks. Either he could stay there or snap, snarl, and bite to climb the ladder. Whatever the choice it seemed that Nyymbatta wanted to stay on top.
Vanti hesitantly raised his hand in a fist, about to honour his end of the bargain, as the E pack, as far as he knew, meant him and the Ht pack no harm. Before he unballed his fist, he looked over to Syd, waiting for the answer he wanted, his pack. "I don't care where you're from, which pack are you from?" Vanti asked, continuing to back away slowly, trying to minimize the distance between he, his current residence, and the beast that lurked in the nighttime waters. "I just need to know."
OOC: I haven't assed myself to think of a name for Syd's pack, nor can I find my way to the info for the aquabats, so I'm gonna substitute it with something lame. It wasn't like Syd to get irritated so easily. He never really understood why other's were so paranoid, but there'd been problems with the locals here so he guessed he sort of got it. "I'm from -insert pack name here-, make you feel better?" he asked in a somewhat agitated voice. He didn't know if he'd rather get ignored or pestered with stupid, paranoid questions by a rude young guy. The irritation that was so obvious to him wasn't really that outwardly obvious, though he did look a little annoyed. Taking a bad attitude wouldn't be too wise with these two.
Vanti sensed the growing annoyance in Syd from his voice. All he needed from the start was the name of his pack, and he knew at least his pack didn't really mean much. The young Aquabat turned and began to swim away, turning for a brief moment to gesture them to follow. "Come on then!" He whispered/shouted to the duo. His current place of residence was only a little ways away, no more than a five minute swim away, more than enough time to get out of danger. He was living with his uncle and aunt through a relative-exchange, where offspring are traded temporarily so they may experience different places. They were a nice couple, and they always welcomed guests as far as Vanti knew. They would probably have no problems with the two he had invited.
