Timestamp: Day 40 Tessera (Autumn), 81379 Location: Library Time of Day: 11am Character: Vac Vac sat engrossed with his thoughts. He is waiting for Sejv to arrive; once again he is in need of a piece of jewelry. This time he is interested in a ring but, this isnÂ’t just a regular ring. This is the ring he will use when he asks for her hand in marriage. Vac can picture the ring in his mind, a 24 karat white gold band, with a pearl in the center. On either side of the pearl are 3 tiny diamonds. He has searched for a ring like this without any success. That is when he remembered Sejv, and immediately sent him a message. He looked down at the box in front of him and grinned. Once again, he has come across a piece of unusual jewelry himself. Last time it was a crown. This time he had come across a bracelet. The bracelet is made up of thin platinum band, with stars engraved into it. The stars are made up of sapphires, and onyx. Most who ever seen the bracelet, just left it alone. They thought there wasnÂ’t anything interesting about it but, he had picked it up and placed it on his arm, so that he wouldnÂ’t accidentally step on it. Once it was on his arm, to his amazement he had moved 20 feet, from where he was originally standing.
Character: Sejv Massit Sejv wandered up the library to make some money for the guild, he had his briefcase in hand and his business robes on. He was in the mood to make some real profit but he knew this guy had some contacts, last time he had acquired very rare items from him that proved most valuable. Now he wandered into library which was his normally place of work at Janardan, most people thought this was strange which including his bosses yet he was always amazed at the people who he found in the academy. He walked in a was mildly surprised to see him normally table already set up, he gave the secretary a wink and looked for his client. He was sitting a little bit away from the table relaxing on his chair. Sejv strolled over and planted himself on the chair offering his hand out again. "<span style='color:yellow'>Good to see you again, I'm assuming that you have something in mind you with to obtain</span>" he said with a grin. He sat the briefcase up on the table and propped it open yet facing himself, he had a feeling he was going to have to delve deep for something soon.
Vac looked up, when he heard Sejv speak. He grinned and leaned forward, to shake his hand. "Yes, as a matter of fact I do have something in mind." He looked around at a couple of nearby dragons, and was glad to see them either asleep, or studying very intently. Vac grinned, as he started to speak. "This time I am interested in obtaining a ring. A 24 karat white gold band, with a pearl in the center. On either side of the pearl are 3 tiny diamonds. I have been searching, for weeks, without any luck. Do you have anything like this?" He sat back and fiddled with the black jewlery box, in front of him, while waiting for an answer. Ever since he found out that Peiruh, was indeed pregnant, he cannot stop grinning.
Sejv smiled, if their was one thing he had it was rings, he had a ring to suit every occasion. The reason he had so many was soley because they were they single best way to arm yourself with as many enchantments as possible, with four fingers on each hand you could have eight different enchantments. Plus they were light and easy to use so they were always being forged and lost and found. "Well it just so happens I have four like that. One they all match you description perfectly yet they all have different magical properties. The first can create fire, but I suppose thatÂ’s a little violent. The next can increase your perception on the world for a few moments, making everything seem to slow down. The 3rd one can heal some physical wounds and the last can make plants grow faster." He said after punishing his memory for the details on the rings. His favourite one was the plant one, no one knew who made it but it was fairly certain he was made because the words to active the ring if spelt backwards came out as "Tea leaves for all" which was stupidly strange. Sejv sighed at the apparent madness of some of his fellow mages.
Vac listened carefully as Sejv spoke. He considered all of the rings that were just described, and immediately knew which one. He leaned forward, and asked in a eager voice,"May I look at the last one you described, please?"
Sejv smiled, of course it was sodÂ’s law that he would pick the deranged one. Still it was Sejv favourite out of the four anyway so he could sympathise with him. Yet he decided to bring all of the out, chances are he might change his mind and it would save so much time. With a wave of his hand he levitated them out of the case and brought them to rest safely on his palm. "<span style='color:yellow'>Now for the love of the gods donÂ’t drop it.</span>" He said as he handed the plant ring over carefully into his palm. It was just as he wanted, the white gold band with the pearl and 3 diamonds each side. Yet this one also had gold inlay on the inside of the band. "<span style='color:yellow'>And donÂ’t worry about the size i can change that easily</span>" he said as reassurance, they had to be all PC these days and accommodate for even midgets.
Vac gently picked up the ring, and examined it. He frowned. It fit the description he gave perfectly but, it just didn't feel right. He handed the ring back to Sejv. He carefully took the first ring out of Sejv's hand, and examined it. He smiled, the ring reminded him of his mother who was no longer among the living. He very carefully handed it back to Sejv, fire just didn't fit Peiruh. Vac took the second ring, from Sejv and examined it. After only a brief moment, he handed it back to him. The feeling that he recieved from the ring was, definetely not the one he was looking for. He closed his eyes for a moment, and took a deep breath. He opened his eyes again, and carefully picked up the third and final ring. He examined it, and grinned. This was the ring he had been searching for. It had the feeling of kindness, consideration, and a feisty spirit, which reminded him of Peiruh. He examined it again, and realized it was also the correct size. Vac looked across the table at Sejv, and grinned ear to ear. "This ring is absolutely perfect." He gently handed the ring back to Sejv, and opened the jewlery box he had in front of him. "I think you might find this piece I came across recently, interesting." He opened the box to reveal, a bracelet. The bracelet is made up of thin platinum band, with stars engraved into it. The stars are made up of sapphires, and onyx. "At first, when I came across this bracelet, I didn't think anything of it. That was until, I picked it up and placed it on his arm, so that I wouldnÂ’t accidentally step on it. Once it was on my arm, to my amazement I had moved 20 feet, from where I was originally standing." He sat back, and waited.
Sejv grinned just as broadly when Vac made his choice, a healing ring after all is very valuable and it was worth quite a bit more than some average flame thing. He was expecting some hard trade for it, he didnÂ’t want anything flimsy for it. He took the bracelet and looked it over, examining the fine craftsmanship. he listing to the power and was mildly surprised at it. He particularly liked the stars too, he was always found of shinny things and his job after all was to collect magical items. "No donÂ’t want it, unless you have something else IÂ’m afraid you cant have the ring. This bracelet is of no value to me." He said with a monotone voice, he didnÂ’t really like it since its power was utterly useless if you couldnÂ’t control it and he didnÂ’t think it would raise much profit.
Vac sat back and thought about Sejv's words. He had a feeling that is what his answer was going to be. He knew the ring was worth quite abit. He had several other pieces in his bag, which sat on the floor at his feet, in it's usual place. He thought about the ring, and looked around the room. He smiled as he watched, a young thill and arden walk into the library holding hands. He leaned forward and picked up his bag. He pulled out a jewelry box, and considered it's contents for a moment. Inside the box was a broach. The broach was his grandmothers. He thought about the broach and smiled. "I believe I have another item, that you might be interested in." Vac opened the jewlery box, and held it out for Sejv's inspection. The broach is made out of platinum. It is 6 inches in height and 5 inches in width. It is lined with sapphires with tiny diamonds along the outside of the sapphires. In the center of the sapphires is a yellow topaz. "This broach belonged to my grandmother. She gave it to me before she passed away. I have never tried it but, she told me that whoever wears it is capable of turning themselves invisible for an amount of time." He sat back and waited for Sejv's response. Hoping that this piece, would be sufficient.
Sejv smiled a smaller smile this time, he had a fairly good understanding what this meant to Vac yet he seemed to be more pre-occupied with love you. Sejv did notice vac's long glance to the couple, yet he instead focused on the new trade item. He examined it carefully and turned it around slowly. His smiled faded slightly and he became more sombre. "Yes this trade is acceptable, the ring is yours" he said as his smile returned. He wasnÂ’t to happy with himself yet he had made a profit that was sure. Sometimes he didnÂ’t like having to trade harshly yet his job demanded it. The Mage's guild did anything for high quality magical devices although these just provided cash for them. The real big items or the incredible rare ones where kept at the guild, locked away so only the masters and conclavers could look at them. He had only seen one yet it had made him qwake in his boots, they guild had some truly terrifying items of immense power.
Vac watched Sejv's face, and smiled. "Sejv the broach may have belonged to my grandmother but, we didn't get along. The only reason she gave it to me was because, she wanted it used exactly for this reason. My Aunt would have recieved it and used it, in a matter, that would have caused my grandmother to come back from the dead." He handed Sejv both the broach and the bracelet, still in there boxes. He looked up and smiled. He watched the young arden chase the young thill out of the library. "Please take the bracelet also, I have no use for it, and no one I wish to give it to. Perhaps, you will find some sort of use for it, or maybe even figure out a way to control it's power." Vac sat back, and smiled happily as he pocketed the ring.
Sejv looked at curiously, he was guessing that Vac was either telepathic or just very lucky because he seemed to have just answered a question Sejv never asked. It was a little unnerving yet it wouldnÂ’t be the fist time he had encountered people who had that ability. Yet the second thought though Sejv's head was how messed up the guys family was, why on earth any one would want to bring back the dead was beyond him. "Well it was good to do business and thanks for the freebie, although you dot have to give it away." He said just to make sure he was sure about it, it didnÂ’t make much sense to him why he would want to chuck it away since a moment ago he thought it was valuable yet he wasnÂ’t to fussed. He stood up from his chair and tucked it into the table getting ready to leave, he put out his hand one last time. "And good luck with everything. I hope your future plans go ok." He said with a sideways smile. He had a feeling that he was going to use that ring for a certain event.
Vac stood up and smiled. He reached out and shook Sejvs hand. He thought about everything that had happened in his families past, and was greatful to finally escape the everyday occurances of it. "Sejv, thank you once again for doing business with me. Not a problem about the freebie, I would rather it be given to someone who might be able to figure out how to control the power of it. I think my future plans will go very smoothly." He pushed his chair under the table, took a quick look around the room, and walked towards the door. He paused, as a young thill who wasn't paying attention, ran into him and dropped all her books. He knelt down and picked them up and handed them back to her. He continued to walk out of the library, with a content smile on his face.
Sejv packed up the table without a smile, pushing it back to where it should really be. He wasnÂ’t in the mood to do any more selling for a while, it had been one of those days that just made you think about things. He folded up the case and packed the new stock into it, he felt like going into the guild and his quarters to relax. He gave the librarian her usually payment in exchange for using this place as a shop. He waned down with case in hand to the door and eased it open, holding it for young thill who ran out holding some books. He sighed and strolled aimlessly down the corridor to out side the building and got ready to go home. Well home enough.
