Timestamp: Day 19 Tessera (Autumn), 81379 Location: Somewhere in the Neurotech Research Facility Time of Day: 6pm Who: Chzyuak Chzyuak was wandering around, her eyes big with excitement. She was excited she had heard about this place but, had never visited it before. She had hurried over once her classes and homework where done. She had plenty of energy, and it is Friday, so time for the weekend. She stopped occasionally to look inside the rooms, and wondered what all the machines where for. She listened but, didn't hear anyone. She thought it was kind of unusual for a building, of this type to appear empty. She thought to herself, Ofcourse, not everything is what it seems. It could just appear to be empty. She stopped when she seen something out of the corner of her eye. She turned and looked but, couldn't see anything. She moved closer towards the spot. She felt her stomach turn, and wondered why the door to this room was open. She didn't think twice and walked inside the room. She clapped her hands, with joy. She was in a room full of pretty shiny things, and there where hundreds of buttons! She looked around, and noticed that up on a platform. She hurried over to the ladder, and quickly climbed up it. She stood on the platform, and giggled. The room was huge. She looked down at the panel in front of her, and pressed a small blue button. She gasped, as the door to the room flew shut, and a cage closed and locked around her. She sighed. "Oh great, how in the heck am I gonna get out of this one."
Character: Javelin "Jace" Valimos Jace was here on "official business." This was not to say that he was here investigating the facility but, rather, that there was someone in the Grader group that had an invested interest in how it was going. Of course he hadn't told anyone that, he had just showed up all dressed up and polite, easily convincing someone to let him have a look around. Mostly by just acting like someone who was interested. Everyone was more pliable when they thought their work was appreciated. Which it was, indeed, for though the spy wasn't particularly interested in what they were doing, he did appreciate that they were doing it. Most of the things they had told him made no sense, yet he thought they were doing a good job. Of course everyone could go on the lower two levels, so it wasn't that much of a maneuver to manage to get a glimpse in there. The higher levels were still officially off limits, but his tour guide had been called off for a test and left him alone for a time. He wondered, silently, what was higher up. He hadn't been told to investigate anything beyond what was permitted, however, and was cautious about going higher up only to get himself into trouble. Even though he was disguised and adept at escape artistry, the arden would prefer to remain unseen, inconspicuous. As it was, he didn't end up going much farther than was usually permitted. There were rooms with closed doors, doors he didn't bother to mess with. Until he arrived at one that was open. Open, that was, for a few brief seconds before it closed with a snick and a faint whoosh of compressed air. Normally this would not have disturbed him, had it not been for the young thill he had seen inside before it closed. What was a girl like that doing around here at six o'clock? Surely that was an odd time for a student to be having a tour... and she had no tour guide, either. Not to mention she had just pushed something that seemed to have gotten her into trouble, from the brief glimpse he had before the door closed. He wasn't official as a member of the lab itself, but he had managed to swipe a card, earlier. Just in case. It had been a spare, he assumed, since it had hung on a hook behind the secretary's desk. Not a master key, as those would be safely secure, but one that had enough access for the lower levels, he was rather sure. In case something went wrong and they needed to save a tour group from an experiment or something. In any case, he was glad he had swiped it now, because he was going to need it. The arden flicked his wrist - the hidden bracelets that marked his silent Grading clinking faintly - and brought the card up, quickly sliding it through the slot by the door. It didn't require a keycode, which was nice, and it opened without a hitch. Walking into the room, he looked around at all of the buttons and lights, wondering where the heck he was now. Then he remembered what he was doing. Javelin looked up at the strange female, quirking one brow and crossing his arms. "Well, you've gone and gotten yourself into a fix, haven't you?" The arden said in an Eastern accent, making sure to disguise his voice so that he was never, ever Javelin Valimos. Not to anyone.
Chzyuak sighed. She looked at the bars, and was startled when she heard a voice. She climbed up on the chair, so that she could look down. She spotted an Arden who was looking at her, and thought about his comment for a minute. She thought to herself, Oh great, this is just what I need. This is going to be a long weekend I can tell. She tried to think up a story to tell him but, figured that it would probably be easier to just tell the arden the truth. She sighed once more, and moved so that she was sitting against the bars. "Yes, it appears I have gotten myself into quite a fix. And to be honest I have no idea how to get out of here." She looked back at the panel to check if there was another button she could press, to get the bars to open back up. She muttered to herself, i'm stuck in here because I noticed pretty shiny things, with buttons, and couldn't resist coming in and pressing a button. Chzyuak looked at the Arden and just waited, for his response.
The arden shifted his feet, silently eyeing the bars that held the thill entrapped. There didn't seem to be a lock, which would be explained by the fact that the bars came out of the floor. Normally he would have just talked to a supervisor or something about it... but more than likely the girl wasn't supposed to be here anyway. Otherwise she would have had a tour guide, right? At least someone keeping an eye out for foolish things like this. His dark eyes appraised the young looking female as he took another step forward, looking around to try and figure out how he was to get her out. If, that was, he even wanted her out. "You supposed to be here, then, miss? Sorry to seem suspicious, it just seems like a research facility might just have reasons to lock people behind bars 'n I don't want to aid in an illegal escape." Jace quirked a brow, idly messing with one of the bracelets around his wrist. It was a movement that looked habitual, but wasn't. Seeing as he had no habits or tried to have as few as possible and one so obvious would have been gotten rid of long ago.
Chzyuak couldn't help it, and let out a laugh. She looked at the Arden and smiled. "No, I am probably not supposed to be here. I kept hearing whispers about this place and finally decided to come and take a look around." She looked around and listened but, still didn't hear anyone else around. "I was going to find one of the tour people but, you are the only other one here. At least that I am aware of. I came in here to take a look and climbed up in onto this platform, and pressed a blue button. I am know trying to figure out what made me decide this was a good idea. There is a yellow button on the console that is blinking but, I am not sure that I should press it, after all the blue one put the bars around me."
Jace chuckled. He hadn't seen much of anyone around for a while, either, but he had been purposefully avoiding having his tour guide find him. The male 'dragon shrugged one shoulder at her response and walked over to the place where she had indicated the blinking button was located. Sure enough, there it was, steadily flickering on and off. He wondered whether or not he should push it, but this wasn't the sort of question that was easily answered. "So you pushed that one, ey?" He gestured with one clawed finger at the one that he assumed she was talking about. It was blue. Tapping his chin, the spy looked over at her again and raised one hand as if to ward off questions, though she had said nothing. In truth, it was a less... meaningful gesture. There was a reasoning to it for him, there just wasn't for anyone else. "So... what do you propose we do, then? I can go look for someone, but if they find out you were sneaking around, that might mean authorities, paperwork, blah blah blah. Personally, I don't like the paperwork. So we'd best figure this out on our own." The espionage expert had deduced that she was harmless enough, if a bit too curious for her own good, and he was ready to hear her input on what they should try.
Chzyuak watched, as the arden looked at the buttons that she spoke of. She really didn't feel like dealing with paperwork if she could possibly help it. She looked up at the top of the cage and flew up to take a closer look. She found a bar that she chose as her spot to sit. She looked up above the cage, and was semi suprised to learn that the ceiling was very very high. She ran a hand over one of the bars. "Well, I really don't want to deal with paperwork myself...The ceiling above this cage is quite high. I think there is enough room that I could possibly try and lift the cage, or we could push the yellow button." She looked back and forth between the bars and the yellow button. "By the way I am Chzyuak."
Valimos looked over at her as she moved around, his ears twitching patiently over toward the unknown thill as he tried to think of the possibilites. Obviously if this was something meant to capture intruders, it wasn't going to be that easy to escape. The blinking button might be a trap, it looked too easy. Why would a burgular have hit the button in the first place, though? It was more likely a safety mechanism for cases when it was accidentally tripped or they were testing it, with a different way for actually setting off the alarm. As she stated her ideas, the spy listened with a blank expression, though the faintest gleam of his teeth might have suggested friendliness. Lift the cage? That didn't seem like it would work... but it was worth a try before they went for the more faulty method of pushing the button. "Go ahead and try to lift it, then, Chzyuak. If it doesn't work, we always have the butotn as a backup plan. Ah, and my name is Jason." Not really, but very few knew his real name, so it wasn't exactly a lie, either.
Chzyuak quickly flew back down, and chose to sat on the floor of the platform. She figured that would be the safest spot to attempt this. She hoped this worked because she felt that familiar ancy feeling coming inside of her, and being trapped in here could be a very bad thing. She smiled. She had the feeling that wasn't the ardens real name but, she wasn't going to ask questions. "Jason please move a little ways back from the cage." She closed her eyes, and took a deep breath. She could hear the bars groaning, from being moved. It was as if they hadn't been moved in years. She kept her breathing calm and opened her eyes. The cage continued to very slowly lift up off the platform.
Jace wasn't surprised when she started moving it without any apparent physical movement. There were those that had power of the mind and - though not common - they were also not unheard of. He was a bit curious, really, about how it was to live like that. It wasn't the kind of question he was going to blurt out to someone he had only just met, however, and so he didn't say anything. Besides that, he was busy making sure all of his mind blocks were up. If she could move a cage with her mind, she might be able to read minds, too. Something that the spy didn't want anyone to do. There wasn't anything for him to say and, in fact, he thought talking might ruin her concentration, so he remained silent. Waiting to see whether or not she was successful in her attempts to free herself. Though he did wonder, a bit, why she hadn't freed herself before he got here...
Chzyuak sat there concetrating, and continued to slowly lift the cage up. She said in a distracted voice,"Well, so far the cage is lighter than I thought it would be." She looked mentally deep inside her and sparked her inner fire, and felt the bars of the cage heat up slightly. She felt her concentration start to slip, and she quickly set the cage back down. "Dang I almost had it high enough that I could have crawled out of here. I guess we should hit the yellow button, unless you have any other ideas." She closed her eyes trying to rid herself of the fatigue she was feeling know.
The Pro-Grader spy noticed her failure with a frown. Well, that was inconvenient. To prepare for the potentially hazardous button, the male slipped a pair of thin netted silver gloves, which were actually anti-magic. Though they were, of course, very limited in their capabilities, it was the best that he had on him. Besides that, the spy had his fingers raised to utter a protective spell if necessary. It would not do to use magic lightly, but this could be a matter of life and death. Was it really worth it for the captured 'dragon? Maybe, maybe not. He assumed the former, though, otherwise he wouldn't be trying so hard to get her out. With a sigh, the spy pressed the blinking yellow button, immedietely on his guard as soon as his finger released the pressure. What had he done?
Chzyuak groaned, as all of a sudden she felt the floor open beneath her. Sure enough in the next moment, she was sliding on her rear for some unknown destination. She would have kept sliding but, she had somehow grabbed onto a pole, and pulled herself into a tiny space. Chzyuak turned and looked around, and continued to crawl. After a moment she found herself back in the hall in front of the door, to the room which had closed when she had touched the blue button. She quickly pulled herself out of the floor and put the panel back in it's place. She moved to the door, and knocked on the window, to get Jason's attention to let him know where she was.
