Silence. Such a simple concept yet a precious commodity. It's a fragile thing, fleeing at the slightest movement of molecules in the air. For many who have it, it grants peace and rest. For others, it begets an inward form of torture that begs for change. Veja stood on the lines of emotion, enjoying the absence of others while still bothered by the loss. There were always days like this. They usually turned out to be the most pleasant. Something new always came from a day like this.

Veja Siruls sat up, perched high amidst a maze of branches of trees. He sat with his sketchpad in hand, observing the area as he always did. He began mapping out much of the forest within it a few days ago. For as long as he's been in the forest, there was still many areas he hadn't reached. He has been living among the animals for quite a while. It didn't take long for him to how to communicate with them. By this point, he was probably more fluent at speaking with birds than Ramathian. This didn't bother Veja at all. The sounds of the birds were much more pleasant than those of other pendragons. They were much less bothersome, and made for very good listeners. They were also good food scouters. Living among the trees is hard without assistance.

Today was another new day for Veja. The journey was short but the area was new, fresh, and unfamiliar. A perfect location for rest. Veja put his marker to his paper and began to draw as always. The light sway of the trees, the close sound of running water, and the occasional calls of wildlife was the only company he had. Precious silence.

  2. Aleut had finally reached the jungle. Remaining in his quadruped form, he looked up towards the sky only to see the many hands of the trees, fighting for the ever-giving light of the sun. The light they could not catch became slivers of radiance that fell from the heavens and into the earth creating dominant shadows that alluded the mysteriousness of the jungle. For Aleut, it was purely heaven in physical form. No one could resist the influx of curiosity that comes from a herbologist in its ‘natural environment’. Aleut’s bright blue eyes sparkled with contentment, his lip rising in a smile giving a glimpse to the dental daggers beneath. Unable to hold the excitement any longer when the jungle beckoned him to come forward, Aleut’s paws leapt forward in its own accord and straight into the green unknown. Today would perhaps be a day to remember.

The natural calls of the wild muffled the sound of disturbed leaves. Aleut crawled along the plant-filled ground, hugging the floor like a stalking feline. He sprung from within a leafy shrub, landing on all fours into a dirt-clearing and looked around but could only see an endless landscape of green. Despite the monochromatic scenery, he was enjoying the natural walk immensely. Herbology would have to wait because Aleut decided to do the one thing that he thought had not survived when his father left: playtime! He galloped through the clearing with evident glee, kicking dirt as he leapt, his tongue lolled out in goofiness.

Aleut stopped by one of the many trees that frequently dotted the area. His euphoria had worn off, replaced with a sullen emptiness that he knew was the cause. The ends of his lip drooped into a slight frown. The realisation of his true reality struck him still. Even though he passed for a fledged adult, inside, he was really a kid looking for solace.
