Timestamp: 2 Mia (Winter), 81380 Character: Sejv Massit Sejv waiting in a specially quite area of the guild, it was like a large stone courtyard with plants and vines growing around and on the support columns that hold up a small ceiling with a massive gap in the middle that lets light stream in. Each curve and bend into he building, even the material used was all a factor in its building, a little stream moving in a circle around the inner courtyard. It was all designed to channel magical energy more effectively and the result was a place where magic was so abundant the flowers could look at you, the water could change colour and the air tingled with magical spice. Sejv hummed to himself quietly, sitting down cross legged and with his arms evenly spaced out on his lap as he mentally explored the magic around him. His mind cashing the overly abundant energy that filled him with immense satisfaction. Although still waiting for someone.
Kwerty walked down the steps into the courtyard. Looking around at all the wonder, he twirled his finger in a cloud of smoke turning it a glowing violet purple. But only to his perspective. It was particularly easy to cast a spell here. Though Kwerty hadn't realized that yet. So as his mind wandered he made designs and things out of the slight fog of the room. As he got closer to Sejv, he noticed what he had been doing and immediately stopped. He smiled a bit, and kept walking. He slowed as he got closer, and stopped and stood infront of the larger wolf-like 'dragon. He stared for a minute, and looked around slightly. He finnaly spoke up, "Excuse me, you wouldn't happen to be a 'dragon by the name of Sejv would you?"
Sejv wasnÂ’t in the deepest trace ever so he heard the youth ardens footsteps against the marble floor. He didnÂ’t open his eyes however, he thought he would at least pretend to be mystical and all knowing. He held back a slightly chuckle when the arden asked his name, he wasnÂ’t entirely sure why but maybe he was just childish at heart. "Yes, I am he." He said as he opened his eyes too look at the young apprentice. He stood up slowly and brushed down his long blue robe, covered in its arcane symbols. "And you must be Kwerty then," he said a little more natural and normal, offering out his hand. His eyes were enjoying the sight of Kwerty's magical aura tingling with the magical smoke and steam coming from the little stream. Of course most people couldnÂ’t see auras but Sejv was a little special. Still he was looking forward to this lesson, he had some interesting things planned to test his power.
Kwerty realized that the older 'dragon didn't seem to be what he had percepted. He shook his hand, then turned to gaze at these surroundings again. "Nice to meet you." He said with a dull slightly distracted tone. He pulled back his jacket and pulled out a pen that he had stuck in his belt. He rolled up his sleeve for a moment only to jot a couple of things down on his arm. Still looking around, and still half distracted by the wondourous(*?) surroundings he said, "Would you like to get started right away, or should we get to know each other first." Trying not to sound like he just bought a whore.
Sejv tilted his head ever so slightly as he looked at the young arden, he got the impression he was a little bored. Well he would try his best to fix that but normally students found this place quite fun, the magical energy gave them a little buzz. Ah well, every one was different. "Ah IÂ’m your teacher, getting to know me would be a nice but not really relevant. So lets get going." He said with a little enthusiasm, he was eager to see the limits of the apprentice. He took a seat in a slightly more relaxed position, reaching into his robe as he got comfy he pulled out a rectangle of metal and places it on the floor. It hovered gently of the ground about a foot high before remaining motionless. "First, you need to get comfortable and relax you mind. Find some inner space then expand you consciousness and boundaries. Try to reach out and feel the magic around you. One your ready tell me and we can continue." He said in a bland tone. This exercise was not one of power but focus.
Kwerty stared at him a bit, for a couple seconds. Watching him pull out the metal.... thing. He was quite curious and sat down as Sejv did. He nodded as the 'dragon told him to relax and get comfy. He was enthralled and quite attentive he bent side to side looking at the rectangle as it floated. He took off his coat, and streched out his wings. Which weren't big, but were still a sight to see. He crossed his legs, closed his eyes and rested his arms on his knees. He also let his tail flame flicker a bit more, and it was more visible without the coat. He sat and concentrated on the metal cube. Trying not to let his mind wander as to how it was acctually floating. He just knew it was floating and tryed to clear his mind with that thought. He was just about perfectly still except for his fur which was moving slightly with the weaving that started up again without Kwerty's knowing. He was thinking now about how the curves of the courtyard could help with spells. How the air could acctually tingle his nose without a scent. He'd never felt better. Kwerty liked it here. He opened his eyes, "Okay, I think I'm ready."
Sejv was already well trained enough to get into the state so quickly he could breath and miss it. However he waited patiently for his new pupil to acclimatise himself to his surroundings and let his mind flow. To really get the full advantage of the room you had to let your mind fill up every available space and then move, to understand and flow with the magic. It was like wind really, moving and invisible yet full of power. Yet his snapped out of his trance state to hear Kwerty's words. "Good. Now very slowly, draw all your minds focus, although not your mind to the cube." He said speaking slowly and smoothly, almost slurring his words as he tried painfully hard not to distract his pupils work. "Now let the energy of the room flow into it, channel and compact it into heat, yet not just heat but focused heat. Build all the heat you can into one tiny spot at the centre of the cube." He said with some more purpose. The idea of this exercise was to show the power of focus, the cube was made of a bizarre metal with a ridiculously high melting point. It was impossible to reach it unless they were basically a master of Pyrokinesis. But you could get it extremely hot and supple by drawing all the heat energy you could into a small space. Just spraying it with flames wouldnÂ’t even tickle it. He was curious too see if he could get it to glow red, that was all he could achieve as a apprentice. He didnÂ’t have the power reserves to get it any hotter.
Kwerty listened to the 'dragon closer now, slightly stopping what he was thinking about. He nodded, and started to focus more and more. He wasn't quite straining, but he was trying very hard. He wanted to learn this very deeply. He reached out his hand and touched the cube. It was still cold after some fifteen minutes of trying. Not even a hint of warmness. He was trying harder now. Focusing as hard as he could comprehend. It was warmer now but still not glowing at all. He had an idea. He started to flicker his tail flame, and as it flickered it grew smaller. He was focusing more drawing from his tail as source for heat. His brain was starting to tingle, from going numb there for a while. His blood was begining to feel like fire itself. Kwerty was starting to sweat only slightly. The cube still wasn't turning red...
Sejv was following his students progress, watching his aura twist and turn about like smoke in a breeze. He could see it mostly turn in on its self, trying to summon up power from his own body. He even seemed to take heat from his tail flame, causing Sejv to wince slightly. "Ok stop it now, before you kill yourself." He said in a pained voice. "Your going about it the wrong way, donÂ’t try to find the energy in your self. Instead draw the energy from around you, the room has far more than you do." Kwerty was falling for one of the biggest mistakes apprentices made, they relied solely on themselves for power. They needed to become aware of their surroundings. "Ok now get your strength back, and when your ready. This time donÂ’t focus your mind, let it flow outwards until you can feel the walls of the room. Then Let the magic flow to your spell with your mind as the conduit." He said with a smile and a nod. "Now theirs no hurry and feel free to take your time." He said with encouragement in his voice. He wa sure he could do it, he had even slightly more challenging things lined up for today.
As much as he understood, he let his mind flow. Instead of controlling his thoughts fully, he was thinking about the room. Its mists, plants, waters, and he even thought of all the things that seemed to be in the room that he couldn't comprehend. Still focused slightly though, keeping them still controlled to an extent. Now he drew heat from the room. The ginger tingle in the air, the pure magic that was just itching to do somthing. He now easily made the cube glow. Not brightly, and not all over. But on the top from corner to corner, glowed from the center a brighter red, to the edges a slighter red that wasn't as noticable. Kwerty now satisfied with himself, wanted to show off a little. Still having the cube glow, he moved his hand slightly, and made the red into a soft violet. A violet that glowed, brightly, not heavily but softly and sweetly like the glow in a childs eye when they first notice there's a flame on their butt. Kwerty looked up at Sejv and smiled. Hoping he'd impressed him even the slightest bit.
Sejv sighed with relief as the cube glowed, he had seen some students struggle very badly with this exercise before and few of them took it well. The last thing he wanted to deal with was a tantrum by some apprentice. He looked at the confidence in him and smiled, it wasnÂ’t overly a specially trick with the colour changing but it was pleasant to look at. "Very nice, and very well done might I add. Few people can master their thoughts so quickly." Appraisement filling his contently, making him sound far more chirpy. "I have another test for you know, when your ready of course. Pryokinesis is the manipulation of heat, few people realise though that i can be used to take it away as well." "This time, instead of giving it heat, I want you to take it away, make it cold. In theory it should be easier since metal loses heat faster than it gains it. But I think you will find reversing your talent takes more effort than you might relies." He said with a slight amusement in his voice.
Since Kwerty had done alright on the last test, he felt better and a bit more confident about himself. But this caught him off guard. He sat and thought for a minute. His feet snapped together, and he tucked his tailflame underneath him so it lay now inbetween his legs, and rested on the block. He continued to heat the block, for a minute or so with his flame still sitting on it. Kwerty wasn't one to whine, but he was known to show off every once in a blue moon... or twice in today's case. His ambient tail, started to glow. He managed to stand up, back to Sejv, and tail still resting on the block. His mind expanded to the room again, as he was instructed earlier. Then with a sudden twist, Kwerty's tail left the block, and sent a slight wave of fire to the right away from Sejv. Not big, and not too flashy, but it left the block a bit chilly. Kwerty smiled once again, but only a little. As his lips were numb from using too much magic for his body to handle. He wiped the drool from his chin and quickly took a seat. "Ho, how id i uu?" Kwerty said trying to sit up straight, being affected by the dizziness.
Sejv was very impressed with him and tried to let it show, a massive grin slapped its way onto his face and he gave him a pat on the shoulder. But also just to sit him down carefully, a little laughter escaping his voice as he did so. He began to look around the gardens a pluck some leaves out of a particular plant, it had long straight leaves with flecks of aqua blue and gold in them. It was rather rare. "Chew on this" He said as the laughter slowly faded away, "It is the leaf of the Ehsyau plant, it just so happens that it is good for not only recovering your head and coping with recoil, but it tastes quite like mint too." He said with a smile. Normally they would refine the plant into a potion to increase its effects but for something simple it was just good to chew on. They kept it here due to its magical nature, it, for some reason, did increase the flow of magic. Magical architecture was still a subject they were exploring with not a massive amount of understanding. They had things that worked but no idea why.
As Kwerty chewed on the peculiar leave, he started to feel better. Not as drained, 'n what not. Feeling a bit invigorated, he stood and stretched slightly. He yawned, scratched his head, then walked over and sat next to the plant. He pulled out a small bag that looked like a coin purse. He took a couple of leaves, and put it in the bag with his nujeq. He smiled to Sejv, figuring he knew what it was. As he put the bag back in his coat, he looked to Sejv, "So I take it I did alright?" He said trying to sound as un-vain as possible. "Even this little bit has helped me so much. I mean... all I could even do with fire, before this, was make it in to a poodle...." Kwerty chuckled to himself slightly.
Sejv laughed at his little joke, yet he had an inkling that he was actually telling a hint of truth their. Still their was always time to learn the mysterious and oh so rewarding art form that was magic. Once you mastered the arts the sky was really the limit and it was one of those few cases were practice really did make perfect. "Yes well now you can even frost things over now. And you can use that heat energy to make your next thing stronger." He said with more laughter yet letting it finished off. "Remember the laws of magic, and also do just be careful. I find the last law is most important. Law of Unpredictability, that Magic, despite laws, is unpredictable and often dangerous." Finishing with a very thought full piece of knowledge. Magic really was crazy, he had seen so many things happen with it that shouldnÂ’t really. Fire balls that suddenly spiralled out of control and then froze solid in mid air. The ground change colour then randomly explode, magic was such a potent force and if you lost respect for it, you would probably lose your life. Which Sejv didnÂ’t really intend to happen. "So you feel like anymore training then, I still have a few more little tricks for you." He said with a grin, testing the limits of a student was one of the finest things about teaching. Sometimes you got a surprise.
"Well, I've got nothing better to do, and I'm not all that comfortable with all of this yet. So, yea. If you've got the time, I'd like to practice a bit more." Kwerty nodded. He glanced around a bit more now, feeling a little more in tune with his surroundings. At least understanding more than he had when he had walked in. He was still sitting there admiring the room. He still fiddled with the smoke in the room, he then looked back to Sejv and waited for him to speak.
Sejv grinned at his pupils determination, it was good to see some people with a grit and the right stuff, not to be afraid of hard work was a good trait. He tried to let his approval show as well, yet he too found his fingers playing a little with the smoke. "Well ok then, what would you like to practice now. Your dream weaving or your pryokinesis." Asking curiously, dream weaving was one of those thing that really most people did not get to use. Still he supposed it could be good for freaking out people you donÂ’t like, sending nightmares their way. Still the elements were his specialty, but he didnÂ’t have a specialist element. And because of this he could never really match any of them power for power. A pryo journeymen could get infinitely hotter than he could, but he liked being a jack of all trades, even if it made him a master of none. In truth he didnÂ’t have a massive amount of tests left, most of magic was really just drilling things into your mind. Things like the cube were especially good for nearly all types of magic, and it was especially convenient for pryo. "By the way does your own fire burn you." He asked interestingly, it was different with everyone but as Kwerty became more powerful it he would have perfect control over the flame.
"Oh, my Dream Weaving's fine. I just haven't proved myself as a journeyman to the guild just yet." He nodded with content, "I'd like to work on pyrokinesis a bit more." Kwerty turned and looked at his tail, he whipped it side to side a bit. "Do you mean my tail-flame? Because that doesn't burn me." He said stretching a bit, and popping his knuckles.
Sejv smiled at the young apprentice, he wasnÂ’t far off from a journeymen but he still needed more refinement and such. And he grinned at the thought of more pryokinesis practice it was after all a very interesting art, far more explosive and exciting then most others. It was such a dangerous one to, fire was painful. Which of course was why he asked. "Sure pryo is fun, and no I actually mean normal fire you create. If your arenÂ’t that will be our next lesson but if you can I have something else in mind." He said with his voice full of intrigue, he was really looking forward to these ideas.
"Oh, I didn't really notice." He smiled, "Well I suppose I could find out." He conjoured a little flame and touched it to his skin. It singed his fur a bit, making it nice and shiny. Heat was felt, but only slightly. Everything seemed to be slight with Kwerty, but that's off the point. "Yea, I can feel it. But it doesn't burn." He now fiddled with the dancing flame that was in his hand, instead of the smoke. He was tottaly enthralled by the beauty of this single flame. But still he smacked his hands together to put it out, and draw his seemingly short attention span back to Sejv. He grinned again, and really felt like playing with the flame again. But he resisted.
