<table class=ooc><tr><td>ItÂ’s not a problem for me to start this. I just didnÂ’t have time to do it yesterday. I gave you the choice to do it so that you could move on at least a little if I wasnÂ’t going to.</td></tr></table>

Turrush set an armful of items out on the table that was a part of the shed. This table was used day after day and lesson after lesson and bore the marks of it. It was covered in marks from the claws of hawks, and dings from having metal items set on it too hard, and was worn perfectly smooth in some places, while others were slightly cracked and splintered.

He looked around, hoping to catch sight of his newest student, scanning the path down from the school. It was almost time for the second period bell to ring.

  2. Illucien carefully trudged down the path to the aviary, carrying a blanket covered rectagular cage that she used to ship the bird. The blanket was serving to keep the shy bird calm as she navigated the busy grounds of the academy. She made a bee-line for the shed and gestured to the cage. <span style='color:gray'>"I brought him,"</span> She said simply, approaching the table. <span style='color:gray'>"Sorry if I'm late."</span>

  3. "YouÂ’re not late. The bell should be going off up at the school, now." He turned to the table and gestured before he picked up a leather bag that was sitting on it. "Set the cage there, and we can get started. This first thing is a FalconersÂ’ bag.

Lots of things for you to keep in there. Like this.

Hood is placed over the birdsÂ’ head, and means you donÂ’t have to carry the cage anymore to get the bird down here.

A bell, which you tie to the birds leg, and it lets you hear where the bird is when you canÂ’t see it. And a Whistle."
He held the things out. "Whistle is used to call the bird, youÂ’ll be training yourÂ’s to respond to it later. A Lead, to keep the bird with you until itÂ’s trained. And finallyÂ…

A Jess. This attaches to the birds leg and lets you control them and attach the leash to.

    Any questions at this point?"

  4. Illucien gently set the cage down on the table, and accepted the items. She looked them over carefully, memorizing what each one looked like, and what Turrush had told her they were used for. <span style='color:gray'>"No, no questions yet."</span>

  5. He nodded in approval. "Now, you need to learn how to use a Jess. Every falconer teaches the Leg command. Most Falconers use Ramathian, so it will be ‘Lad’." Turrush picked up a second Jess from the table, and held up his arm. "Fellian, Kyna." After he called, a silver and white bodied bird with golden pinion feathers flew from a perch inside the office door and landed on the professors wrist. After petting the little bird for coming so quickly, he set him on the edge of the table. "Fel, Lad." The little bird obediently offered his leg to the teacher. "This thick part is wrapped around the leg, and the pointy part of the thick end is passed through the slit in the leather. then the skinny end is passed through the slit in the end of the pointy end." As he spoke, he went through the actions. "Extra care information about Trisk is on this sheet," He picked it up off the table and passed it to his student. "It also has a diagram of how to use the Jess. They get fed a live Flitter daily, which you’ll need to come down here to get each day. Each day you should offer your bird a chance to splash in a dish of water. Some like it, some don’t. You’ll find out if your bird does or doesn’t soon. Any questions before you I give you homework?"

<table class=ooc><tr><td> Your care sheet includes the following information:

Daily Feeding: 1 Live Flitter. Flitters may be gotten from Professor Sjoahaujs at the aviary.
Daily Bath: Fill a pan with lukewarm water in a draft free area and permit the bird to splash in the water. If the bird does not want to, do not force it.

    Jess attachment instructions

    Commands already known:
Lad – “Leg" Instructs bird to present it’s leg for Jess to be Attacked.
Og – “Up" Instructs the bird to step up onto your hand.</td></tr></table>

  6. Illucien nodded as he spoke, the instructions were fairly simple. She scanned over the care sheet quickly, she could read it over more thoroughly later. <span style='color:gray'>One live flitter... hmm... </span>It didn't really surprise her that it had to be alive, many predators would not eat already dead food. she shook her head, <span style='color:gray'>"No, I get everything so far."</span>

  7. Excellent, Illucien, then I'll see you back here on the 45th. Same time. You're to get to know your bird in the mean time. Take good care of it and make friends. When you come back on the 45th, with your bird on jess and lead. I'll be checking first thing at our next lesson."

<table class=ooc><tr><td>One lesson down. I'll do the next lesson later.</td></tr></table>

  8. <span style='color:gray'>"See you then sir."</span> Illucien said, slipping the equipment into the falconer's bag. She picked it up in one hand, and the cage in the other. She nodded and set off for her room, intent on practicing putting on the jess and leas, and taking them off.
