Magnus at patiently on his chair with the other conclavers, they were on their own little balcony separate from all the other mages yet they could be seen from any one on stage. He was one of the judges in the first stand up contest of the guild, it had started because he and a fellow conspirator where very, very bored one night. He had lured a couple of apprentices into applying with the promise of a prize, the prize however would depend on how good they were. He cleared his throat with a cough before speaking out loud to the crowd. "Let me annoyance the start of the guild comedy contest. The contestants are preparing in the provided dressing rooms and will be out shortly. Good luck to all and good fun to us." He said with a grin well hidden under his mask, let no one say he never did any thing fun for them. He was awaiting the first apprentice to show their face out of their personal rooms. They would be the ones to kick start the show with their act. Once every one had had their turn he would eliminate all but two. They would then compete for the grand prize, of course it was actually just going to be laughing at the little people really. He grinned feverously with the anticipation of something entertaining. <span style='width:100%;font-weight:bold; font-size:10px'>Out of Character</span> <table class='ooc'><tr><td>Right post in any order you like but donÂ’t post again until we are sure we have everyone. And try to put thought into your act and make it last, feel free to post half and await the crowd response and then continue it. It doesnÂ’t have to be all in one in one post. Good luck :P</td></tr></table>
Standing in his own balcony across from Mangus, Kwerty drew from his cigarette. With his back to the crowd, he looked over his shoulder as they all cheered and clapped at the begining of the show. The air was humid, but cool. A strong sense of happyness filled the room, making the air thicker than it should've been. Kwerty's aura though did not add to the thickness, he was here to try to forget his troubles, and maybe have some fun.
Chzyuak hurried into the room and quickly looked around. She spotted Magnus sitting with others on the balcony. She took a deep and closed her eyes. She had thought the other apprentices would have beat her here. She could feel that ancy feeling but, was greatful that it wasn't coming from her this time. She stood inside her little room just out of views way, and quickly moved 20 irridescent light weight balls onto the stage. There were 4 of each color. Each color had a different symbolization. Red stood for fire, yellow stood for earth, blue stood for water, and green stood for wind. She carefully moved the balls to there proper places. Carefully remembering the book, that she had closely studied. Once the balls where in there proper places, Chzyuak took a deep breath, and picked up a light weight ladder thing she had designed. She carried it out to the middle of the stage, and placed it in the center of the balls. She carefully climbed up to the top of it, where the was a small platform. In a soft but, clear voice, she said the words,"<span style='color:green'>Tis the wind will awaken inside of me</span>." As she said the words the green balls raised up off the ground. She said the words,"<span style='color:green'>Tis the water will awaken inside of me</span>." The blue balls raised up off the ground. "<span style='color:green'>Tis the earth will awaken inside of me</span>." The yellow balls raised up off the ground. "<span style='color:green'>Tis the fire will awaken inside of me</span>." The red balls raised up off the ground. She smiled and raised her hands gently, and the irridescent balls started spinning in circles. She said,"<span style='color:green'>May the fire that flows, within me show to you all</span>." With her hands slightly raised she started glowing from her inner heat, which reflected off of the irridescent balls flying around her.
Magnus watched with intrigue as the Chzyuak started her little performance, it was rather unexpected and different. It was after all supposed to be a comedy act yet so far it seemed to be very serious, although he never liked to totally judge something until it was finished and the magic side of it seemed to be very advanced for an apprentice. It dawned on him that Chz might be a good apprentice for Artemis, after all she did need help and Chz had a lot of potential. He never told apprentices but his little stunts always severed a purpose to find those who stood out from the crowd some how. Yet he drew is attention back to the act, so far it had high points for magical use but was currently scoring low for amusingness. The ideal act would combine magical and entertainment of course but that was wishful thinking.
Chzyuak was grinning ear to ear inside but, was doing her best not to show it on the outside. If she were to start laughing know she would lost control of the balls and would have a huge mess to clean up. She very carefully barely moved her hand, to a small control panel on the ladder she was standing on. She hit a tiny button that was almost invisible to anyone else at this point. In the next moment, music started playing. Chzyuak grinned lifted her hands, and half of the balls started moving in the opposite direction. As the introduction to the music stopped, and the words began, the balls opened up and started spraying little fountains of water, which where the same color of the balls they were in. All of a sudden though the music skipped! She thought to herself, <span style='color:blue'>NOOO, not this! Dangit I am going to be covered in colored water and foam</span>. She stood there and attempted to keep the balls going in the right area which, served to only make them fly at odd angles even faster. As they flew they started shooting colored foam, at whoever they were near. She had to think of something fast. So she yelled,"<span style='color:green'>Tis' come back to me</span>!" She knew as soon as she said the words she would be covered in water and foam. As the balls flew in her direction, and hit her they exploded into silly foam colored animals, and little rainbow waterfalls. She layed on the ground and just sighed, waiting for a reaction. She was not looking forward to clean up of her act gone wrong.
Kwerty started up a slow clap, and smiled as Chz was covered in foam and what not. He looked around though irredecently, as if the show were not there. He caught sight of Magnus, and drew a slight sigh. He knew if he were to get anywhere with this fire thing, he'd have to impress him.
A sly smile spread across the corner of Magnus's mouth, he could see quiet easily Chz losing control of her spell yet things seemed to be far more amusing this way. The foam was covering up quiet a few of the apprentices which seemed to then be turning into fuzzy foamy animals much to his delight. Magnus appluded gently as she fell onto the floor covering herself and the sage in foamy animals and much of her surroundings. It was very apathetic since you could clearly see her disappointment. However the combination of laughter and applauses from Magnus gave the whole audience incentive to join in one thunderous applauds. "Very well done Chz, you may retire to the stage room and clean up then join the audience. Are there any more acts to perform next." His booming voice silenced the crowd in an instant and it echoed though out the hall.
Kaylen walked on stage after the other girl had cleaned up. She pulled out a chair and was about to sit down in it. Trying hard not to show her concentration she made the chair slip back and away from the spot she was trying to sit. She made made one of those fake laughing sounds off those saturday night shows she watches go. Next she stood up and her face lit up and a little light bulb appeared aboce her head. Once again concentrating she made the light bulb transform into a bucket of water and spill all over her. Once again she made the fake laughing noises appear out of nowhere.
Chzyuak moved to one of the chairs after getting herself cleaned up, and sat down. She watched as the dragon on the stage, made little things happen to herself. She didn't say anything, just watched. She kept a tiny smile on her face, to hide how she was really feeling.
Kwerty yawned and smiled at the same time. He didn't really enjoy the show that the 'dragon was putting on. But he knew she was trying. He threw a tomato anyway. ^_^ - Kwerty's smile grew larger.
Magnus looked at the display by the apprentice, it was confusing to say the least. The type of comedy was a mixture of slap stick with surrealism, and it was more bizarre than funny. The stunt with the chair made you smile at the most but the some what freaky laughter was more disturbing than anything. The water too was lacking yet any smiles it would have got were spoilt again by that odd laughter. Although Magnus smiled quite a lot more when the odd apprentices began to throw fruit and such. It was amusing to think they even brought any yet seeing them throw it was true comedy. But before things could get to serious and before the rotten fruit could be thrown Magnus intervened. With a wave of a hand he stopped all the projectiles in mid air, then put his voice into action. "Yes thatÂ’s quite enough. You might want to get cleaned up now Kaylen, IÂ’m afraid your act needed some work." he said kindly. Hew would make sure their were some clean clothes waiting for her, it was never that funny for the one on stage. "Anyone else, any one in the audience perhaps." he said curiously.
Kaylens smile turned to a frown and and she flew off stage out into another room where she began crying by herself and calling herself stupid.
Chzyuak watched as the dragon flew off and felt sorry for herself, she had at least tried. She was still trying to figure out why the music skipped on hers but, had calmed down after a few minutes. She should have realized that it was a possibility of happenening. She thought to herself, <span style='color:green'>At least I didn't lose control until that point. </span> Chzyuak turned, and looked around to see if there was going to be anyone else going up.
Kwerty left the balcony and headed toward the stage. He walked out and looked at the crowd softly. He drew a slight smile as a very small pillar of fire came up out of his hand. He worked with it behind his hands, and after a few minutes of pure silence he held up what seemed to be a balloon animal. He poked it and its head bounced to and fro. He pulled it back with both hands and threw it out. A large wave of fire spilt over the audience just enough to singe the hairs on the top of a few people's head's. Above most the audience but below the balconies still. The fire was gone and so was Kwerty. He was heading back to his seat in the balcony. He looked around a little bit astranged. Finnaly the sprinkler system went off and soaked everyone, he nodded, smiled and finnaly took his seat.
Magnus quiet actually liked this one, a fire animal with an afro some what appeals to him on some bizarre level. He smiled very broadly as it was being thrown about, almost about to clap when he saw a wave of fine fly out and some of the crowd dive for cover. He would have frowned if it wasnÂ’t so controlled, however when the smoke cleared he didnÂ’t see Kwerty. His just caught a glimmer of him as the sprinklers came on, he sagged his shoulders and laughed while being drenched by the artificial down pour. He snapped his fingers making the sprinklers turn off, before casting a brief reversal spell on his robes. In a instant his robes returned back to there normally dry way, he would have cast a bigger one for the audience but he would not suffer recoil for them. He turned his attention back to the contestants, he needed to decide on a winner. "Yes thank you Kwerty for that well planned display, however I think the winner today shall be Mrs Chz for her excellent magical and very comical display." He said drawing him self up to his full height. " round of applause for the winner if you will" He said as he began to clap in an attempted to get the crowd going. Of course they soon did.
Chz sat there with a look of disbelief on her face. She thought to herself, <span style='color:green'>Not only did my act go horribly wrong at least in my opinion but, know I am sitting here soaked from someone elses act. How in the world, did I win this</span>? She concentrated and used her inner fire to dry herself off, even though she still looked like a cat who had been made to sit through a major rain storm. She stood up, and smiled nervously. "Oh, um wow. Thanks, I am not sure of what else to say." She simply left it at that, and wondered what else was going to happen.
Kaylen stopped crying hearing somebody names announced as the winner so she dried herself up and walked back into the other room. She lit a match and ocusing on it she made the fire get bigger and create a huge flaming banner that said Congradulations She smiled big and and turned a couple of candy wrappers into fireworks which she set off.remembering that buildings had sprinkler becuase she had just got soaked by one and took control of the smaoke and held it down. <span style='color:purple'>Congradulations Chz</span> She yelled over to her.
Kwerty nodded a bit. Knowing that Kaylen could read minds from a encounter some time before. He thought to himself, Dun worry, you did good too Kaylen. The tomato just made it funnier he reassured her. Looking over at Magnus, he caught his eye a little but just looked back down at the crowd as they started to leave.
Magnus always stayed until the end with these events, always making sure no one got left behind but also to talk with the winner in private. He nearly always had an alterative motive for these and he also he needed to sort out the prize as well. He noticed the fire contestant looking at him and he stared back for the brief moment. Bitterness from the other apprentices never really bothered him, he was there to teach not to make friends. Plus he generally hated children. Still he walked over to Chz with a casual stroll and nodded. "So Chz did you have anything in mind for your prize." He questioned curiously, "Or can I just pick anything." He loved the way he worded things, he could get people to agree to anything he wanted. Then again he could just tell them since he ran the place, after all he didnÂ’t need there permission to do anything. He has some personality issues.
Chz thought for a few moments before she gave Magnus her answer. She thought to herself, <span style='color:green'>there are tons of things I could say that I would like but, what fun would that be in all reality. On the other hand, he probably had some personal agenda, for this competition</span>. She smiled and looked up at Magnus. "I am sure that you have something in mind already, even though I have no idea of what it will be. I think it would be better for you to pick, since you tend to have a much better idea, on how some of these things work, than I do." Chz thought over what she just said, and felt pleased with herself. She said exactly what she wanted to and she said it without feeling, emberassed or unintelligent. She tried holding in her curiosity, even though she could feel the curiosity running through her system.
