  1. Hi! I'm sure some of you remember me. I remember a surprising amount of you!

So what has the PF been up to in all these years? Well. I am in my 5th and final year of art college. I'm double majoring in Video Game Design and Visual Effects. I got my 3D on. I honestly could not have picked a better school or field to go into because I can think of no other field where I would actually prefer doing my homework to anything else. I spend pretty much everyday on a computer in 3D land, and it is bliss. I am aiming to be a programmer and/or effects artist for games. I am looking forward to my career with great anticipation. So being such a computer mushroom, my life has otherwise been pretty uneventful. I learned to paddle-board recently, one of the dorkiest sports I know of.

So for those of you who don't know me, I've been associated with RaL, I guess now ShadowLack for 9 whopping years, inactive for most of them. I got my start roleplaying on Neopets, and then somehow found this magical place, and a part of me never left. I'm not the strongest RPer but I love it whenever I manage to do it. And man do I love characters. I originally went to art school to be a character designer, and I got my start by making and designing my pendragons on RaL. I loved character design, but along the way I realized how much I loved programming and modeling and I had to make a switch. So anyway, RaL has been such an influence and inspiration to me, I can't imagine my life without it.

I have 2 cats. Jimbo, a beautiful princess tuxedo cat, and Penelope, an airheaded happy lovebug. My favorite game is currently Journey, beautifully designed game. I like sharks and ferrets.

  2. Haha, really great to see you here! :) I've always loved your art and your adorable comics.

I wish I'd gotten a little more into 3D. I've only dabbled in After Effects, and have done some simple modelling in ZBrush. I really did enjoy making silly animated shorts.

I'll also have to check out Journey. It looks like it's gotten some really amazing reviews. :D

  3. Hello hello PF, I am Kayou the Amazing Kitsune Mistress of Shadowlack, also known as the Envoy to the Shadowlack Forums from the Kitsune Domain of Insanity. (aka, my living room)

It is nice to see another ferret lover here, I miss my blaze, she was a sweetheart.

I am also madly jealous of you, for what you're doing in school. Between the hand/eye problems resulting from getting blown up, and having severe dyslexia....I could never hope to succeed in any artistic field. So PROPS TO YOU!

If you ever feel like you need help with RPing, feel free to yell at me, I am more than willing to help other people get better. After all, the higher the average skills of a group in RPing, the more everyone enjoys it.

Also, this game you're talking about, is it just called Journey, or is that short for something else?

  4. Oh After Effects is so much fun. I have only touched it a tiny bit, but a friend of mine is majoring in Motion Media, and the projects she gets to do are bad as ass. ZBrush is sweet. I did a little dabbling in ZBrush also, not really my cup of tea though. Strangely its modeling method is too sculptural for me.

Hellow Kadou! Ferrets are the most awesome of the animals. And thank you for the offer, but I think I can manage for the most part. ^^

And OH MAH GORSH! I am insanely proud to be the (currently) only Zombie on this forum.
    :medaka:

It is just called Journey. Its a game you can purchase in the Playstation store. It is hands down the most beautiful game I have ever played. It only takes like an hour or two to finish, but it has great replay value. I have played it maybe 20 times. And my senior project for school is heavily influenced by this game because I loved it so much.

  5. Ahhhhhhhhhhh! Welcome back PF!

Oh man, I'm also jealous of your degree, so awesome! There are plenty of job position in Montreal for when you start looking :) I know because I stalk all the big studio sites on a regular basis. I was recently stalking your DA page this summer in an attempt to draw Menlo stuff so it's magical that you would pop back up right after that.

I really want to play Journey, it looks beautiful, but I don't have Playstation hardware :(

Also, your avatar is beautifully stylized!

  6. Yes! You're the very first zombie! I had been waiting to give someone that medal. Bwahahaha. :fox:

ZBrush is kind of awkward to work with, from what I remember. When things do get that sculptural, I think I'd much rather work with my hands instead of digitally. Still, it was quite fun. ^_^

  7. Oh, damn. I really need to get a PS3, after I get to Australia.

Also, I wanna be a zombie too! Bite me PF!!!!

  8. Oh wow! I havn't been on my DA in ages. But I am honored that you remember Menlo! Menlo is kick ass if I do say so myself. And holy fudge, I would adore working in Montreal. I have always wanted to live in Canada. And thank you about my avatar! It is the second iteration of my Pirate Ferret logo and I think this is the one I am sticking with.

I agree exactly with you about ZBrush. While working with it I always either wished I could just type in numbers like I can in Maya, or like you said just pulling it out of the computer and doing it with my hands.

*nom* Although, I currently am watching Walking Dead, and according to that zombie cannon, biting someone does not necessarily make them a zombie. Its just that everyone is infected with this disease that when they die makes them a zombie. And if you are bitten by a zombie, because they are rotting and stuff their mouths have deadly bacteria and whatnot that basically makes their bites and scratches fatal. So its not so much the bite that makes you a zombie...its the having died that does it. The biting just helps the process along.[DOUBLEPOST=1351554681][/DOUBLEPOST]And how in the world are people 'liking' posts? I cannot see an option for that anywhere...

  9. It is a hidden secret option :p Not really, when you mouse over a post extra information shows up at the bottom of it and in the bottom right hand corner of it there is the 'Like' and 'Reply' option.

Living in Canada is pretty awesome, Montreal even more so! Which is why I'm hoping to stay here after I graduate if only to try and get into one of the studios here. If not, well, you can take my apartment!

Bloody hell, I just watched your Demo Reel 0_0 That is just magical.

  10. I have a reply button but no like. Ah well, it must be some special feature not meant for the likes of me.

And thanky. I am extremely proud. ^^

  11. Hm... do you have the like link now? It should be right beside the reply one. I think that I may have your user group permissions a little mixed up.

  12. Success! Yes I have it now. Thank you. :frolic:

  13. PF! Hoooly cow! I remember you! :D
Sounds like you are doing superbly with school and whatnot! I really hope you get a great job after you grad :D

  14. Aahhhhhhh PF! It's been forever, glad to have you back :)

I've wanted to play Journey ever since it came out but I'm extremely lacking in the console-department. Maybe I'll get to one day though!

  15. I hope I get a great job too! Haha.

Poor Cooldood. It seems like a game that would adapt well to other platforms so hopefully they make it for other stuff too so you can play it. ^^

  16. Gak. I just wanted to say that I bought Journey (and Okami HD...) the other day and had my first play through of it last night. It is so damn beautiful, and I'm so damn sentimental. It made me tear up. ;_;

Thanks very much for the recommendation! Between that, and hearing an orchestra play the theme last weekend at Video Games Live, I'm very much a fan.
