(<span style='color:lime'>"I know that look!" </span>they would whisper as he passed, or even <span style='color:lime'>"The Alchemist in love, you must be joking!"</span>) For his defence, it must be said that though the new "happy look" kind of spoiled Nubajek's auster image of an "eccentric antisocial scientist", the handsome smile quite suited his dark features and did his shiny emerald eyes more justice than his reserved smirk and cold composure could ever have done. His teachers had noticed the change, too, but had been more discrete about it. Not that it would have mattered since Nub was so obviously oblivious to all the attention he was attracting. One must forgive the absent minded lad for at that precise moment his mind was filled with the thoughts of a certain person and left no place for any rational thought. He was floating (yes floating) accross the halls, softly whistling a happy tune. (until then he had never known he could whistle a tune, let alone a happy tune) But his whistling suddenly came to a stop when his till then unseeing eyes fell upon the very 'dragon he had been thinking about. <span style='color:lime'>"Kat?! Err... Ok. Act cool. Just go up to her and say hello... No! Just be yourself. Act naturally. Na-tu-ra-lly... Heh. How is one supposed to "act" naturally? Doesn't the term "acting" imply that one is being unnatural? How antithetical! Antithetical? What am I saying?! Ack, I'm thinking too much." "Hiya Kat"</span>, said, the dark 'dragon in the hopes of acting 'natural'. But how was one supposed to act naturally when one's heart was beating so unnaturally fast?</span></span>
Katrina had been lost in her own thoughts, although her's were slightly more collected. At the moment, the young 'dragon was trying to think of how to reorganize her dorm room, which was quite out of the norm for her. Actually, Kat would never think of cleaning things if it weren't for the chance that other people would be coming into her room. He had though, and here he was. "Oh!..." A happy little grin passed over her face as she blinked up at him. "Hiya, Nub." That now familiar heat flooded her body as Kat stood there gazing at him, lost in his dark features. "I do believe he's even more handsome than the last time I saw him." Logic had all but given up on her at moments like these. no use in arguing with yourself. "How's your day going?" That darned grin just would not leave her lips since she met him. The lack of sleep and wandering thoughts did not help that morning while she trained as the sun rose either. That was how she had strained her right shoulder actually. It was not anything serious, just a reminder to stay focused. A warrior in love was just as silly as an alchemist.
<span style='width:100%;font-weight:bold; font-size:10px'>Out of Character</span> <table class=ooc><tr><td>Sorry for the lateness -_- Had to finish my French World Lit Paper 1 *dies* </td></tr></table> <span style='font-family:Arial'><p align=justify> <span style='font-size:9pt;line-height:100%'>Nub was slightly reassured by Kat's response and her grin soothed him. He returned the smile pleasantly, and his eyes, twinkling with new found confidence, sought out her own hazel gaze. <span style='color:green'>"My day has been alright so far. And it's just gotten better. What about yourself? How has Life been treating you since yesterday's encounter?"</span> He demanded softly, his pitch low. "Well, that came out alright, didn't it?" he coaxed himself. But though it seemed that his brains were quite content with his words, his heart had other plans. And so the words he had practiced over and over in his head since the previous night spilled out of him before Kat could even respond. <span style='color:green'>"Listen, Kat. It's silly of me.... But I was wondering when a young damsel like yourself would be eating today and most importantly with whom. Another concern of mine was wether you would, ah, accept the company of another 'dragon, another 'dragon such as, well, myself. What I think I'm trying to say to you Kat is... Will you eat with me today?"</span> He wished the ground would suddenly burst open and swallow him, but at the same time he knew he wouldn't be satisfied till he heard her reply. </span></span>
The laugh was already out before she could think to supress it. Did he know how silly yet so very amusing he was? She had never heard another 'dragon actually use the word 'whom' in a sentence before. "My day is going nicely, thank you." Chuckling again, she continued, "I'm always hungry after training; lunch sounds great. So.... I guess I could survive if you ate with me. I mean, I'll be so hungry, surely I won't mind." Teasing him was fun, mostly because he seemed like the type who could handle a joke. Katrina had seen a 'dragon or two who certainly could not handle a joke. It was sad really when people could not understand her humor, odd as it was. Come to think of it, Nub had an odd sense of humor as well. Kat blinked once or twice as she thought, tiliting her head to one side. Gravity fought with her violet strands of hair, though did not gain much ground. "So what classes are you headed for, Nubajek?" She grinned again and fiddled with the strap over her shoulder.
Kat's laughter, like most, was extremely contagious and the dark youth was soon chuckling along. His eyes reduced to half moons by his broad and toothy grin, Nub wondered what it would take to make her laugh again. <span style='color:green'>"Alas sweet Kat, your voice is like a balm to my soul but your words, your terrible words... You then prefer the company of food over mine? Am I to be outdone by a Rheyant steak?" </span> "Am I to be outdone by a Rheyant steak? What in Ramath was I thinking?!"thought Nub, realising that his sense of humour was getting out of hand. His cheeks burning fiercely, his emerald gaze was eager to find a distraction. And find one it did. Memerised by Kat's paw as she fiddled with a strap on her shoulder, his brain barely registered that a question had been asked. <span style='color:green'>"Oh, hmm, I'm headed for two hours worth of boredom, aka Ramathian History. What about you?"</span>
Katrina smiled warmly and tapped him on the nose daintily, or at least by her standards. "Me?" she asked as though the thought of her going to a class was entirely new to her. "Healing. I think the teacher's a little full of himself, but a lot of them are." She really couldn't complain though. It was a fun class to go to. Easy A's really. Aside from the papers they had to write. Long, tedious, explanitory essays on how best to grind a certain herb or the best way to cure the common cold. The times Kat actually learned something new and useful were few and far between. The corners of her lips crept up into a grin and she leaned over to whisper in Nub's ear. "Where should I meet you for lunch?" The words were sweet and naive almost. The silvery young 'dragon pressed her nose to his and looked into his deep, dark , wonderful eyes while she awaited his reply.
