((OOC: Ah, my first IC post. I love it. I suppose I shall use italics for thoughts, and "bold w/ quotes" for speech....)) Current Quarter/Month: Dyo (Spring) Current Year: Year 81378 Current Day: 4 The bustle of the courtyard would dizzy anyone. So many, going from one place to the next, laughing, talking...all except one. His quiet, observant exterior instantly became betrayed by the bright, hungry flame of his tail, but at least he wasn't running around like a little nioti. His hind paws padded their way through the courtyard, the mop-like, reddish fur around them becoming slightly dusted as he stepped. The leathery wings around his shoulders had relaxed and unfolded a bit, though as soon as he caught sight of them from the corner of one amber eye they snapped back into place, the strips near the bottom wavering slightly from the momentum. The lanky pendragon raised a hand to wipe hair from his eyes, and caught sight of a few female pendragons walking across the way....one, in particular, caught him as being pretty...pinkish hide and a slightly darker tone of hair, with bluish eyes...she was gone as quickly as she had appeared, however, and his thoughts returned to his training. Ranger... he thought. The scout, the forward- here he stopped and silently berated himself for forgetting the terminology, -...point position. Familiar with the land and the creatures who inhabit it. He sighed. It had been his master's last lecture, and a basic one, at that. He saw his peers being moved up to Journeyman every day, but the one he had apprenticed himself to didn't seem all that keen on letting him go forth until at least his twenty-third hatchday...his tail twitched in agitation, sending small flames licking up into the air only to dissipate harmlessly. Uzet reached up and faintly traced the two lines on his left cheek...some thought he was a bit young to have been graded at all, and he had undergone the ceremony twice. Not even the Journeyman overseeing his studies boasted such a feat, and the thought made him even more sour. The ruddy pendragon suddenly felt warm, and realized that he didn't suddenly feel warm, but that he was paying attention to the feeling for the first time. He hadn't noticed the warmth, thus far, and was comfortable...but this? It was an excellent sensation. The warmth spread through him and made him feel alive; Uzet could feel it in him, vibrating, pulsating, begging him to run and laugh and play and....mate? What? he asked himself, as he suddenly had the desire to be with a member of the opposite gender. Ah, it was Dyo, though, and such thoughts were not uncommon. Must be that... he concluded, and he stopped in his tracks, closing his amber eyes and tilting his head up to what could be the source of the warmth and life enclosing him, unconsciously smiling and stretching his wings and arms out wide. ((OOC: Hurray! I hope you all enjoyed))
OOC: This is open and all, right? ^^; http://shadowlack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=292Jyta Telbaj</a> Age: 22oo Primary: Seduction (A) Secondary: Languages (B) IC: Jyta sauntered along the gras of the Janardian courtyard, savoring the feel of the grass between her toes. She was in her quad form, and was wearing nothing but a small purse around her neck, just to keep some basic ID and whatnot. The slight breeze ruffled her unbraided strands of hair, as her pale eyes took in the scene. The pink color was almost white looking in the Dyo sun, when she wasn't in the shade. As she strolled along, however, she didn't realize where (or whom) she was headed into. With a thud, she walked headfirst into the other 'dragon. "Oh... I'm sorry. Are you OK?" She hadn't picked up on any of his thoughts, but she began assesing him. Outwardly she was waiting for a response, but inwardly she was checking to see what she knew of him. Hm... I don't think I know him, and I don't know one fitting his description. Wait... She peered closer. Is he... Graded? Wow... He looks young. Interesting. I wonder what he did to earn them? Two of them, in fact. "I'm Jyta Telbaj. Nice to meet you... What's you're name?"
((OOC: Completely open, and thank you)) Uzet inwardly cursed as he felt himself get bumped forward a little, then whirled to berate whoever it was, and stopped dead in his tracks. His wings snapped closed as he viewed the 'dragon before him, as did his mouth. What he thought at first were rather shocking white eyes were actually an incredibly light pink color, and her deep red coat accented them perfectly. He smiled as she apologized, then offered her name, completely oblivious to the fact that she was wracking her memory to see if they had ever met. Once more brushing hair away from his face, Uzet took in her name with a nod, and replied with his own. "I'm Uzet...Uzet Lymaj. It's good to meet you, too," he said. He thought he might have seen her around, but it didn't matter, now. They were formally acquainted. "Really, I guess it was my own fault for standing out in the middle like this...I'm fine," he replied to her query, smiling rather wolfishly. His amber eyes shone as he looked upon her, but inside Uzet wondered what he would say next. He wasn't exactly the social type, but the young pendragon wanted Jyta to stay and talk. "I guess I lost myself in the day....it's rather beautiful." The leathery wings on his back tucked in a little more in self-conscious awareness, but his tail flame lit up quite magnificently. Once more cursing inward, he bewailed that not only was he male, but easily excited...
Jyta smiled. She noticed his self-conciousness. The tail flame, the shifting, but she ignored them. He was cute, after all, in a puppy-like sort've way. She flicked her tail, waving some biting pests off. She was enjoying this little conversation. As of late, she'd had some exams in her classes, and they'd reduced her to very little contact with other 'dragons. At least, contact in which she wasn't set up to lure them in. Her Seduction exams were a nightmare. She spoke, pale eyes gleaming. "Yes... The weather here is lovely. In Bhim, this time of year, it's still quite unpleasant." She winced, showing her distaste for the weather of her birthplace. "So, are you new here?" The question showed what her probings had found. She didn't know him. "I don't think I've seen you before. I'm a Seductress Apprentince and Basic Language student. What about you?" She hoped her traid choice wouldn't scare him off. It did that to males, occaisonally. She turned her eye towards a nearby tree and patch of shade. "Do you want to sit over there? It's in the shade, more so than it is here at any rate." She raised what would have been her eyebrows if she had had them in query.
((OOC: "Bold italics w/ quotes" will be what I use to quote Jyta, letting you know)) Uzet felt somewhat as though he were being appraised, but he quickly shook that off. He wasn't really surprised that she hadn't seen him before today; he had taken some rather lengthy exams that actually had him outside the school...and there was the fact that Uzet was normally alone. The 'dragon kicked some rather insistent dirt from one paw and waited as Jyta spoke. "Yes... The weather here is lovely. In Bhim, this time of year, it's still quite unpleasant," she said, wincing slightly. He had heard of the climate on Bhim, and didn't blame her for doing so. He nodded thoughtfully, and she went on. "So, are you new here? I don't think I've seen you before. I'm a Seductress Apprentice and Basic Language student. What about you?" A....seductress? Uzet thought to himself. He had never met anyone even in the field of study, though Language was common enough. "Double apprentice, I fear...Ranger and the Military," he replied, scratching the back of his head with a large hand. Jyta seemed to look around for a moment, and Uzet followed her pale gaze to a smallish tree. "Do you want to sit over there? It's in the shade, more so than it is here at any rate," she offered, giving him a quizzical look. Uzet nodded a little, smiling again, his tail flame as bright as ever. He whipped his tail once to try and shake it, futilely, then extended his hand in deference, toward the tree. "Ladies first, Jyta..."
"Ladies first, Jyta." Jyta laughed and made a mock curtsy. It was graceful, as always. She shook he braided mane and twitched her tail, and spoke again. "So polite!" She pointed her paw in the direction of the tree. "Onward ho!" She strode felinely over, in a practiced saunter. It looked natural, of course. However, it was a complex thought process that only recently had become second nature to the Apprentince. As she reached the tree, she pondered where to sit. Finally, she settled on a patch of grass near the base, and plopped down. She sighed and leaned hapilly against the tree trunk, smiling. Her whole body was relaxed, and she was sprawled out. She wasn't minding her poise, unusually enough. Her eyes were closed, and anyone who hadn't been watching the past few minutes would have thought that she was asleep. She opened her eyes and waited for Uzet to get there, watching some birds on a tree. They were pretty little songbirds with bright plumage, three of them. She loved birds, even though she couldn't fly. "So, what's the Ranger/Military training like? I've never known anyone studying those trades. Closest I've known has been my cousin Nurano. He's a spy." She turned her head in his direction, waiting for a reply.
OOC: Do you mind if I jump in? Poor Xelluh's been horribly underplayed, and really doesn't have any friends... BIC: "Double apprentice, I fear...Ranger and the Military," Xelluh's ears twitched, and she couldn't help but glare over at the hapless pendragon who'd worded the statement. Exam times were horried, and she was hoping to become an Apprentice soon...but one never knew. Double apprentice....pah! Normally, the iridescent 'dragon would stay out of other people's conversations. Today, however, she was feeling particularly lively. Her half-feathered wings stretched once, then folded, and she made her way over to the pair now lounging 'neath a shady tree. "Double apprentice? You're lucky. I'm training in four trades...exams'll be the death of me yet." Xalluh grinned sheepishly. "Sorry for interrupting. The day's been rough, and I've been testing myself till my brain hurts." Now, she lingered nervously. The femme 'dragon was more well trained than to just invite herself to partake in their company. She'd wait until a formal invitation was extended, and if one wasn't, then she'd leave.
It was becoming rather crowded, rather quickly....but Uzet minded not at all. This was the most attention he'd been payed in quite a while, and though he fancied himself introvert...the 'dragon really rather liked it, especially from these two females. Sitting up straighter, he listened to Jyta, who spoke first. "So, what's the Ranger/Military training like? I've never known anyone studying those trades. Closest I've known has been my cousin Nurano. He's a spy," she said as sat up...nearly at the same time, came another lilting voice. "Double apprentice? You're lucky. I'm apprenticing in four trades...exams'll be the death of me yet," said the newcomer, grinning. His ruddy hair bobbed as Uzet's amber eyes snapped over to her. "Sorry for interrupting. The day's been rough, and I've been testing myself till my brain hurts." She stood as though waiting for something...with little confidence, Uzet licked his lips and spoke. "Well....would you like to join us...?" he asked, then, realizing that he might not have the right to invite her to sit with them alone, he looked over at Jyta. "...uhm, if that's okay with you...." ((OOC: So much fun))
OOC: Whee! :D IC: "...uhm, if that's okay with you...." Jyta looked at the newcomer femme. She looked harmless enough. Her wings were interesting, Jyta hadn't seen wings like them before. "I don't mind." She winced at the femme's statement about her trades. "Four? That's insane! What are they?" Jyta couldn't even imagine doing anything in four trades, much less apprentincing in all of them. The wine-colored femme stretched and began to examine the new 'dragon. She seemed young, maybe 15oo or so. Jyta was even more impressed with her trade amount when she took into account the niotie's age. She was pretty, her scalefur was iredescent black. In the sunshine, it had purple and blue overtones. Her silver hair glinted in the sun, it seemed. As Jyta's eyes trailed towards her tail, she tried not to stare. The niotie had a tailflame! It burned black, like her fur. Her tattoo was a split mask. She looked familiar, but Jyta figured that she had just seen her around school at some point. Jyta blinked slowly and twitched her ears, flicking a fly off her earing. It caught the light for a moment, sending a beam of gold out. She shifted, waiting for a reply.
"Four? That's insane! What are they?" Xelluh laughed softly as she settled herself on the grass. It was a lovely day to be outdoors. "Let's see...there's flying, obviously." she began, nodding to the wings perched on her back. The rest were ticked off on her hand digits. "Then there's elemental sorcery, biokinesis, and electrokinesis." At that, the iridescent 'dragon flopped dramatically onto her back, laying one arm across her forehead in mock exhaustion. "Oh, it utterly horrid!" Grinning, Xelluh looked back up to the pair. "But I suppose it could be worse. What about you two?
Uzet looked from one to the other as they spoke, his amber eyes flicking back and forth in order to catch it all, as though his eyes could hear better than his ears. When the question came for their chosen trades, Uzet spoke up. "I'm Ranger/Military, as I've said...it's basically a lot of fighting. Hand-to-hand....aerial for me, of course....discipline's a major factor on one, but...knowledge and speaking your mind another. Heh, it's kind of confusing sometimes, but it works," the 'dragon said, his ruddy tail flicking, the flame on the end still burning rather brightly in that odd orange/red mix. He, too stretched out, leaning against the tree.
Jyta smiled and lounged back, only too happy to talk about her trades. It wasn't often that 'dragons asked, and she liked to shock them. She had a feeling it wouldn't work here, but she didn't really care. "Moi? I've got Basic Languages as my Secondary," A carefully inserted 'innocent' expression, "And Seduction as my primary. Fun stuff, that." Her innocent expression widened into a ferral grin. "Not whoring, mind you. Simply knowing how to get what I," A speculative expression now, her paw making a slight circle in the grass, "Or others want. I just go around getting it differently." She perked her ears up, having remembered what the young femme had said about her other trades. "Elemental Sorcery? Is it fun? My cousin and his girlfriend take it, and they love it." She raised her 'eyebrows' as she spoke. "But what's Bio/Electrokinesis?" She thought to herself, Hm... Kinesis is the movement of things. I guess it's the movement of things because of electricity. But then, is Biokinesis just the movement of living things? Confusing... She didn't voice her thoughts, she simply waited for a reply.
(ooc: I hope you don't mind me just hopping in! You can just ignore my post if you don't want me coming in like this.) Ic: <span style='color:blue'>Nyym had her nose in her notebook as she passed the 3 pendragons, not noticing them. Then she stopped and stood in that spot for quite a while. She peaked her head from her book and looked for a bit, still not noticing the 3 pendragons. She turned fully around as she countinued walking. Again she was in front of the pendragons and stubles on her tail and fell face first in the grass. Books and papers flew everywhere. A silver fluff flew out of her bag as well. She grumbles and tries to snach everything up. She stuffed everything into her bag and gently picked up the silver object, whispering to it slightly. She set the silver thing on her night navy shoulder and stood up slowly. She turned her violet head and saw the 3 'dragons. Nyym's eyes got huge as she was thinking if they watched her the whole time. A look of amazement came on her face as her jaw dropped. Being embarrased in front of other students was humiliating. Her eyes widened. OLDER STUDENTS! :o Oh great...tormenting time. :( She looked down and sighed quietly, "Just my luck." Her bag tore at the bottem and all her books and papers fell through this now wirthless peice of fabric. She smiled up sheepishly as she prepared to be tormented. (ooc: Nyym is about 1200 years so very young. She is new to the school and can be embarrassed easily. ^.^)</span>
Xelluh nodded. "Yeah, Elemental Sorcery is pretty fun. It's one of my easy subjects, along with flying." "But what's Bio/Electrokinesis?" Tilting her head slightly, the iridescent dragon tried to think of a decent way to explain it. "Well...it's pretty much what it sounds like. Electrokinesis allows me to manipulate electric currents, while Biokinesis allows me to manipulate biological stuff." To her own ears, her explination of biokinesis seemed kind of...lame. Deciding to demonstrate, Xelluh held out her hand. "Like this." Slowly, the fur around her wrist began to change color, from its iridescent shades to an alarmingly bright, firey orange. Then, she just as carefully changed it back again. "See? It's a really-" Xelluh halted when a young nioti tripped and fell, sending the contents of her bag everywhere. She was quick to retrieve her stuff, and had just finished doing so, when with a loud rip, her bag split. Oh, that had to be embarrassing. Smiling softly, Xelluh climbed carefully to her feet, walking over to the young 'dragon and slowly picking up her things. "Here, let me help you with that. Are you okay?"
<span style='color:7899FF'>"Uh, ya." Nyym replied as the older pendragon asked if she was alright. "Thanks." She took all of her books and papers that fell from her torn bag,and from the older 'dragon. "Um, I hope you guy's don't mind me just falling into your conversation like that." Nyym bit her lip as she wondered if she should leave or not. A silver fluff flew from her shoulder on to her books and papers. It cooed happily. Nyym felt glad that no one yelled at her for 'stumbling in' on their conversation. She asked shyly, "Do you know where to get another bag?" She giggled a bit to herself. "I hope you don't mind me coming into your conversation like this. I could leave if you want." O please let me stay, Please! I haven't a clue where anything is!!! Nyym bit her lip, quietly waiting for an answer for staying or not. She gently picked the silver fluff up and set it on her shoulder. She wrapped her stuff with her sweater that was once in her bag. She replaced the fluff of bird back on her wrapped items.</span>
((OOC: Gomen, I haven't been here because of things in RL. Sorry again!)) IC: Uzet smiled at the younger student and brushed bangs away from his face. "I don't mind, I guess...we're just talking about our trades. What do you study?" he asked calmly. The 'dragon cocked his head in a quizzical way and rolled his shoulders...aerial combat hadn't exactly been nice to him today, and he winced as the muscles controlling his wings tensed up. He flexed them once more, and then they settled comfortably, so he resumed leaning against the wall.
(ooc: Sorry about my last post. It wasn't what I wanted it to be, but the computer freaked out on me and lost my post. So sorry for the rudeness.) (ic:)<span style='color:7899FF'>Nyym looked down at her feet. "Elemental sorcerery is my primary and oral storytelling, fiction, is my secondary. Yours?"Nyym smiled shyly."My name's Nyym." Nyym looked down at her feet and dug a hole in the ground with her foot.</span>
Jyta blinked, startled at this new intrusion. She replied without thinking, by telepathy. The 'path was directed at the young femme, but any 'dragon who could 'path could hear it. {Oh... Are you OK? Let me help you with that...} She bent down to help grab the books and other things that had fallen out of the now useless fabric. "Do you know where I could get a new bag?" Jyta thought for a moment. "Yeah, I know a few places where you could get them. Doesn't the school store sell them?" She thought for a moment. "If you want, I can get my room mate to draw you a map. She knows better than I." The new "intruder" seemed to be quite young, and had the frightened look of someone expecting to be eaten. A new student, then. "You wouldn't happen to be new, would you?" A sarcastic smile, then, "You have the look of frightened prey. Small prey." The sarcasm faded from the smile, growing into the nurturing expression she often wore around Nafel. "I'm Jyta. Telbaj. Apprentince Seductress, Basic Languages." She waited for a reply, twitching her bushy tail and blinking her pale eyes. The stripes on her muzzle were almost unnoticable in the shade, blending with her coat. She idly twitched her foot. It made small circles in the grass as the wind ruffled her fur. She was quite content.
OOC: Blargh, short crap post. o.o;; I'm lacking inspiration at the moment. -.-;; EDIT: Some of you may notice that I've edited some of my posts a bit. That's due to forgetfulness and confusion. Xalluh's only in basic training for her crafts, and is too young to be apprenticing yet. I'm so used to apprentice being the lowest of the low in a craft that I got confuzzled. Sorry about that! It gets worse, too. I just realized that I've been spelling my character's name wrong! It's Xelluh, not Xalluh...*sigh* "I'm Xelluh." the iridescent 'dragon greeted with a smile. "I have four trades...elemental sorcery, flying, biokinesis, and electrokineses. Not in that particular order, though, and I'm basic level in each." Xelluh seated herself once again, and motioned for Nyym to sit as well. "Come, chat with us. We can get your bag later, if you'd like to, or now. We were discussing how horrid our exams are. How are yours going?"
