Timestamp: Mia, 27rd 81378 His dark grey wings padded through the night sky, his sharp eyes sweeping across the landscape looking for anyone remotly interesting. Rlett's jaws flexed as a droplet of blood fell from his muzzle. He had just finished feeding on a small newborn creature he had raised but it was not enough for him. He was far from bloodlust but he knew he had to act and set down a trap for an unsupecting victim, which was what brought him to the mountain ranges. Here he could get a sufficient amount of shade from the sun in the day and could get a nice cool breeze during the night. So far his hunt was fruitless, if there were any 'dragons in the range then they were all asleep or hiding quite well. He couldn't even pick up a slight scent of blood, besides the faint trickle that escaped his fangs. He caught a strong wind and started to descend on what seemed to be a town. He landed a little short of the entrance in order to wipe off any remaining droplets of blood. He hten padded up to the entrance with his grey wings tucked to his sides and his teeth shown in a pleasent grin. The fangs seemed just like regualr pendragon fangs except for the fact that they were hollow needles. His tail flame glowed a bright white, contrasting his black and grey fur. It was then that the scent of other 'dragons reached his acute nostrils. So he had finally found someone, now all he hoped was for the 'dragon to be suitable. He needed someone to befriend for now. He quickly wiped away his greedy grin and started to slump, as if he was tired. He even limped a little to add emphasis on is fatigue. His tail hung limp and his fire started to dim, the trap was set.
Cold. That was why they had chosen him for this job, because the bottles could not get cold, at all costs they said. To let them cool would kill the bacteria needed to make the cure. He hadn't taken the job for the child. Oh no! It's just...it was paying better than anything else around. Qunat had to believe that. To admit to himself that he was taking these little critters to this backwater village for someone else would be something impossible. So Qunat was in a foul mood. A foul mood indeed. His conscience was dragging him along, and it would pull teeth if necessary. The strap for the insulated vial chafed him. The black 'dragon never wore clothes, or belts, or anything if he could help it. The drag'-for-hire wiggled, hoping it would settle. It didn't. It was a small consolidation for Qun that the village would be just a head, an hour so more travel, he didn't care, or he didn't want to care. Dispite himself, he peered over his shoulder and looked at his tail flame. Good, it wasn't burning the strap again. It already bore a few black marks from a few over emotional moments. His sense of smell, inborn keen, and made keen by extended time in the wildernesses caught the scent of another 'dragon. It wasn't long before he saw the pitiful thing. He was limping, although not from any injury he could tell, so Qunat assumed this was just another overzealous traveler who had pushed himself a little to far. He laughed mean naturedly, and hoped the other 'dragon would hear. "Long road isn't it ?", he called out. "You shouldn't force march yourself. You might get caught in a blizzard!"
Perfect, he thought, trying to hide a malicious grin as he saw the traveler. Rlett stopped his limping and turned around, wings still drooping at his sides and his eyes carrying a heavy shadow. Just another detail to his act which he pulled all to often. His tail dimmed even further as he saw the 'dragon that called out his name. Even under the cover of night, Rlett could see the 'dragon just as clearly as if in the day. It was certainly an odd site. He dind't know if he was more of a repltile then an actual 'dragon, and the tail flame was huge! His tail flame was nothing compared to the other 'dragon, but then again he wasn't here for a flame competition, no. So he turned and slumped even further down to the ground, as if ready to collapse. Before actually collapsing he planted his butt hard on the ground. "I'm sorry for being such an embaressment. There is some medication in this vilage that I needed to get for my ill mother and time was running out so I just had to push myself further after every aching second that past and made my body quake in pain. Are you heading to the same village as I? Perhaps we can go together, if I can walk that is." after his little speech was done, he made his front paws collapse causing his head to fall down onto the hard ground. "I'm sorry, I just need water. Do... do you happen to have?" he asked. Rlett knew that water would do nothing to him but he needed to keep up the viel. He was sure that he was doing a good job, and could only hope that this rough 'dragon wasn't a vampire hunter. He definatly seemed intriguing enough to let live, maybe even ask for permisson. Hah! Am I getting soft? Maybe if he was a sweet vixen. he thought to himself, trying to hold back a chuckle.
Not content to simply wait in queue, Conscience had made a vie for control; however, realizing this, Danger Sense and Suspicion weren't far behind. However, Conscience carried the day. D and S were lying in wait however. "Do look like I'm carrying water?," He looked behind himself with a sense of theater. "Nope. –Mean naturedness made a surprise sneak attack- They probably have some at village though. I'll send someone out for you when I get there, I got lives to save, and I need to get their quick." However, Conscience wasn't going to stand for this, but a compromise could be made. "Although, I could probably slow down a little bit. But I can't carry you. This vial is very fragile. It'll be used to make the meds." Of course, it wasn't but this is compromise here. One can't expect everything. "Forced marching is so much more fun with a 'buddy'."
Rlett smiled sarcastically, little did the stupid 'dragon know who he was inviting to walk with him, oh well. He would show him in time, actually, the more he thought about it the more he figured that the 'dragon wouldn't make a bad vampire at all. Maybe I'll ask, he looks deformed enough. I'm sure he won't mind another odd gene in his gene pool. He would soon find out what this 'dragon was about. Rlett wasn't only a wonderful actor but he was also very skilled in extracting information. "Yeah, I guess your right it'll be better then me trudging along by myself, spewing out blood soon." he said, trying to get up. He even collapsed a few times but after four trys he finally appeared stable on his four feet. His tail still hung low but his flame was a bit brighter, giving off any eerie white glow. Rlett even made his two front paws tremble but then stabalize. "I'm ok. I haven't ask you for your name, mine is Rlett." He walked along side the 'dragon, leaving a bit of breathing space in between them. The smell of flesh was starting to get to him but the medicine he had was also starting to blend in. What did he have? Rlett decided to bide his time and find out soon enough, asking to fast might break any sort of comfort between them.
Qunat looked at that tail flame for a moment. He suppressed a shiver. He'd seen white tail flames before, for this one glowed too... artificially. It seemed unnatural. He carefully ignored the comment about spewing blood. Danger Sense was preaching on the corner that someone was trying very hard to act pitiful, but when largely under heard, for now. "Name's Qunat. We should get moving, if he hurry we can their before nightfall," and then he added, "Just try to keep moving." Without waiting for an answer he started to walk down the road.
Rlett sped up a little so he could keep along side with Qunat, who didn't even seem to slow down much. It didn't matter, just as long as he made his muscles shiver every now and then the viel would still be put up. His eyes scanned the horizon, an eerie quiet shrouded them for a few moments until Rlett deemed it proper to talk. "I noticed your tail flame, and your legs. I hope you don't mind me asking but what are you? And that vial, what does it contain? I think it might be the medicine for my mother, after all I came here to obtain some medicine and you're here to deliver some." he said, his eyes traveling from Qunat's head to the package and then back. He wondered for a fleeting moment if the medicine could cause him danger and if Qunat knew it. Rlett dismmised the thought quickly, let Qunat have his suspcions but there was no way he might actually know Rlett's true intentions. At least not yet.
"What am I? A pendragon of course, " He paused. "But that's not what your asking is it? I have a very...varied lineage. Most just settle at calling me a Lukou." He flicked his tail around for a moment, a habitual sign of quick thinking. "The medicine? I don't pretend to really understand it, they tried to explain it to me. Apparently, the critters in there make some sort of chemical that insulates 'cells' from being attacked from virus's. You know about virus's right? They're not really alive, they enter a host 'cell' to make it a virus. Eventually, it explodes and bam, more viruses. So these bacteria -he pointed his nose at the vail- immune to that. My clients -he savored the word, it meant they'd pay him a lot for this- say it's some chemical that breaks viruses apart. Dunno way they need the bacteria delivered alive though. Maybe the chemical doesn't last long." He shrugged. "So the kid has a virus, and this'll help 'im fight it off." He realized he was talking just to pass the time, but that was fine.
<span style='width:100%;font-weight:bold; font-size:10px'>Out of Character</span> <table class=ooc><tr><td>I was wondering if you wanted to get vamped or if you want to throw a twist in the story or something so Rlett won't be successful later on</td></tr></table> Rlett smiled a fake smile as he listened to the droning of the other 'dragon. What a silly little fool, if only he knew that his geen pool will soon get even more dramatic. That is if I let him live or not. he thought to himself, trying to hide a real evil grin. Instead he kept looking forward, trying to plan out his future actions. The whole village would be on him if he didn't act fast. He had to be very careful tonight, he might eveb be able to nab the vile and take any payment that he was going to be offered. "Poor kid, sounds like a really bad virus thing. My dad suffered from a horrible virus, something that you would never imagine. It was very catchable. I didn't get it though since he had killed himself in order to keep me and my mother away from it. Unfortunatly my mother seemed to have caught a less effective strand of the sickness. Our village healer said that it was impossible to heal her without an antivirus and if I didn't get there in time her organs would be eaten away." His tone grew depressed at the end of his statement. Only some of it was true and that was the part about his father. He did have a virus, one that turned him into a vampire. Everything else he said was total bull shit but the important thing was that the other 'dragon didn't realize it until it was to late.
<span style='width:100%;font-weight:bold; font-size:10px'>Out of Character</span> <table class=ooc><tr><td> Definitely don't want to get vamped. Maybe later in his life cycle, but I'd like to play him as a made him for awhile until I do anything so dramatic as a race change. I can't think of a twist off the top of my head, but needless to say Mr. Huge Tail Flame will have some "things" to say if he tries to bite Qunat. :P Yeah. I might devolve into combat, but combat's fun too. ;) Oh. I have to ask, is my characterizing of Qun's emotions annoying to you? I'm trying a new writing technique. </td></tr></table> D and S, realizing that alone they could not defeat Conscience alone, were writing a tentative peace treaty. Together they would prevail! "Huh. I've never known a catchable disease to stop to being catchable when the infected was dead." He shrugged again. "I guess I don't know much on the subject." A stray thought came to him, courtesy of the resistance movement. "You know, for someone who was limping and begging for water, you're keeping up pretty well..." He gave him appraising look.
<span style='width:100%;font-weight:bold; font-size:10px'>Out of Character</span> <table class=ooc><tr><td>Ok I'm sure we'll think of something ;) as for your writing style I think it's a cool change but it kinda confuses me. Don't take me wrong, use it as much as you want, I just might be slow. :P </td></tr></table> Vokc! he thought to himself without realizing the fact that he seemed to have made a pretty fast recovery from his "fatigue" that plagued him just a few moments ago. His mind raced, trying to desperatly think of some sort of excuse to use to cover up his stupid blunder. It only took him a few moments to think of a believable speech. "Heh, I guess you were right. When you ahve someone to march along with you you tend to forget the pain your actually in. If you hadn't come along I probably would still be back on my ledge in a pathetic bundle. To tell you the truth, I still do feel weak but you made me realize that my mother was in danger. I need this medicine." He told Qunat, his voice shifting from empty to inspirational.
Inside Qunat's head, battle was joined. He eyed the other 'dragon in a new a light, from the corner of his eye. "Uh-huh." Suddenly, Qun had a bad feeling, and he wanted to get to that village as soon as possible. "Hey. Are those wings of yours flight-worthy? We could make much better time by air." He looked up pensively, "As long as we don't go too high." Danger Sense was yammering loudly in his ear, but Qun wasn't ready to listen to it carefully. <span style='width:100%;font-weight:bold; font-size:10px'>Out of Character</span> <table class=ooc><tr><td> Got an idea. I'd pretty primitive, but I think I pull it off in a cool way. Just don't have your character do anything he wouldn't normally do. :)</td></tr></table>
<span style='width:100%;font-weight:bold; font-size:10px'>Out of Character</span> <table class=ooc><tr><td>Ok, I hope I end up doing what you'de expect.</td></tr></table> Rlett looked over at Qunat, something was up and Rlett wanted to know what it was. But he couldn't find out just yet, he needed to go along with him for now. But if he flew then they would get to the village sooner and he couldn't let that happen. He needed to make sure Qunat kept with him without making Qunat anxious and supectful. "Nah, these wings are useless right now and it'll just get me even more tired. I need to save my strength for the trip back. But I must say you've been very helpfull. If you wouldn't have come along I would probably be worse off then my mom. So do you know just how big this village is anyways?" His last question was a desperate attempt to change the topic, he didn't make the change noticable but if Qunat left him then Rlett would have to attack with stealth. It wasn't as much fun as tricking him but a feeed was a feed.
Qunat looked off into the distance. He thought he could make out smoke, but it was controlled smoke as from a fireplace. He smiled. "I think we're almost there. Just over that bump there, unless I miss my guess." His furr rippled as a soft, chill breeze came off the mountain. He hardly felt it, what with his nice big bonfire tail. "Well, I don't know really. But they tend to slant towards small in this region," finally answering Rlett's question. Dispite his cool outside front, he becoming increasingly uneasy. Something wasn't right. He glanced about at his 'partner' again. He looked forward again, giving the outword look of dismissing what-ever he was thinking, but hadn't. Not in truth. Another breeze brew through the mountain pass, as chill as first...
