I was reading a thread today, and I was really liking the table font they were using, so I asked my friend Dumu to help me duplacate the code. I'm not HTML smart at all so when he gave me the code with all the numbers, letters, and what not I was a bit overwhelmed. I asked where to put it, and he told me to paste it before each post. I was really bummed to know there was no way to make it permenently default that way. So we were hoping to suggest maybe something in the Control panel that could store/save codes and recall them when making a post. There could be a drop down next to the post saying, "Choose post code" and it'll automaticly insert it into the field. Most of the idea is credit to Dumu.
It's an interesting idea... however there are a few things that also would need to be taken into consideration. - Special code would have to be written in order to tell the forum whether or not it should use the "template" code. This could be either in the form of a simple checkbox, or built into the IC forums. - The proposed suggestion doesn't really take into consideration people who use different templates for their different characters. So people would then have to be able to save multiple templates, which could get tricky. I don't want to have templates linked to characters directly, as some people post with more than one of their characters in one post. So... it's a little complicated in that respect. - I know that I personally don't use any sort of templates for my posts. I'm actually a little biased against them. I feel that they can sometimes be a distraction that take away from the text written within them. Though they aren't necessarily a bad thing. Just a preference of mine. :] Not only that, but they do sort of "break up" threads by disrupting the flow and making threads read more like chunky graphic-riddled blocks. But yep, I'm open to ideas. Just keep in mind that this isn't my top priority at the moment.
Absolutely ^^ It was only a bit of an idea that might be possible so that people who aren't "HTML smart" could still use interesting tables in their posts. I don't like them much myself either, so I understand what you're saying. Of course, people could just make a note in Wordpad for themselves and C&P it into the post. I think it's a good idea in concept, but maybe not necessary (something I was going to say, Alkia, but we had that issue with MSN).
