"Welcome back. I hope that you still remember the color information, or have notes on it. Todays’ lecture is on patterns, so it’s all new information. He turned to the blackboard, writing out a short list. A – Solid B – Winged C – Banded or Headed D – Mottled E – Pieballed "That is a basic list of the general correspondences for the different pattern genes. It’s the interactions that make things complicated. Starting with the ‘A’ Gene, Solid is very dominate in Flitters. In most cases, when the ‘A’ gene is present and dominate it will be the one manifested. There are some different reactions, so read the Gene A Interactions carefully. A few exceptions to the Dominant ‘a’ is Solid are AB – Winged Solid, AC – Headed Solid and AD – Mottled Solid. Gene B, the winged birds, provide a great variety to breeders. The Winged variation mixes itself well with most of the other patterns and so there are many mixes in the pattern variations. Instead of spending an hour listing them for you here, I’ll just tell you to review the text on it. The book has pictures and is extremely helpful. Gene C is another one that mixes well. Another one where you’ll need to Review the book. Gene D, mottling, is variable in it’s type and manifests in lovely ways. The only way to truly appreciate the different variations is to look at the pictures. Gene E is variable in it’s appearance also, and is frequently hidden by it’s tendency to ‘hide’ when the color genes lack both dominate and recessive genes. Now, I’d like you all to take a look at the gene lists, and ask some questions. And I won’t be dismissing this lesson without questions, so think hard and come up with some."
Twitch was actually taking notes this times, although her scrawling, messy short hand was barely readable. Her foot twitched insistantly against the floor, her bottom lip firmly caught between her teeth. She washaving problems sitting still, and somewhere, in the small of her mind she was regretting signing up for these classes. Her ears were pressed flat against her skull in agitation. She really wasn't enjoying herself, but she was forcing herself to sit through the lectures. She groaned quietly and rested her head against the desk top when the teacher announced that they couldn't leave until there were some questions. Twitch sincerely hoped someone else had a few, her mind was completely blank...
Thi gave a large yawn. She had taken no notes during this lecture as she saw most of this as only a rewiew and a filler for her time until the advanced course started. She looked over at Twitch and chuckled at her response.

Scritch, scratch, scritch, scratch. The steady movement of her pen quelled all further thought in the mind of the young Sunhawk. She didn't really have time to waste and was jotting down notes with surprising speed. Ever since she started listening to these lectures, Schism had become increasingly interested in flitters. Of course that was helped by the fact that her aunt-sister, Yin, was an avid trainer. Therefore, she got some hands-on training, as well, on the genetics of flitters. The avid look that the older Sunhawk got when she was speaking of animals was something that, someday, Schi' hoped to have on her face. That rapt, almost dazed, appearance that showed great intensity in the older female's field. Schism's brow wrinkled slightly as she focused on a particular bit of information, adding a little flourish at the end to make sure she remembered, later. As he added that he wanted questions, her pen stopped its continual movement, eyes lifted to stare at the teacher as if he was insane. What sort of queries might they have about such a straightforward subject? Of course she quickly hid the look by scowling down at the paper. Dear gods above, why did she have to be stuck with such teachers. Flipping to the proper pages, she glanced through, catching sight of some birds that looked like her aunt-sister's and some that Yin didn't possess. There was a slight frown on her face. What was she supposed to ask? She had no doubts, no questions, in her mind. So all she could do was wait for someone else to have one - either that or sit here all day. The mere thought made her start doodling. Boredom was going to set in before too long.
"Well, one question you could have asked is 'What patterns will we have avalible to us for our final project?'. The answer to this one is fun." The teacher gave the class a pleased look. "If it exists, I will be able to get it for you. The Flitter Breeder's Society has worked with me, and we have a large number of breeders who are willing to offerr birds for your projects."
Twitch nervously raised her hand, hoping her question was a legitimate one. "Does that mean we get to pick what patterns we'll be using?" she asked timidly, completely out of her element in the classroom. She quickly pulled her hand down and shrunk back in her seat, trying to make herself as small as possible.
"Yes it does. Your final project's assignment is 2 lessons away. We've got one more lecture on how color and pattern work together, and then we've got the way where you present your project aims. then we ajourn for 3 months while you all breed flitters and attempt to acheive your project aims."
Thi smiled. The final project should be easy. She had already had three clutches of her own flitter. Another clutch from another flitter should be easy enough to acheive. Why did she even have to do the final project?

out of character I sort of powerplayed by saying Turrush would acknowledge her, but I assume he would. If he... wouldn't, for whatever reason, just act as if she spoke without being acknowledged. ^^ in character Schism quirked an eyebrow. Well, that was a question she hadn't thought of. Then again, right now, she didn't care. It was in the future. Though one inquiry did present itself once she had heard what they were doing for the final project. Her hand shot up. Once the professor allowed her to speak, the Sunhawk did so. "I'm guessing this is a project we are supposed to do on our own? Or are we permitted to have partners? And can we get outside help from professional breeders?" She inquired with a silent quirk of her brow. It would be nice if Yin could work with her on it - then she would be assured that she had someone to fall back on if she couldn't figure it out herself.
Out of Character

That was a very safe power play.

"You'll be able to get help from professionals, who can give you advice, but the declaration of what you want to do is something you need to do on you'r own. Next lesson you'll need to have figured out what exactly you want to try and breed for your final project. You'll each be working towards a specific goal, and not just trying to get two flitters to mate. There's much more to this porject than that."
Thi's hand shot up as a thought crossed her mind. If the awnser was yes it would make the final project so much easier. Another thought crossed her mind as she thought of two projects. Seeing that Turrush had acknowledged her hand she lowered it and said. I have two questions, Number one: What exactly will the final project entail? And Number two, May I use my own flitter for the final project? She thus ended her speech as she awaited her proffesor's response.
