1. Day : 13th
Month : Dyo
Year : Year 2
Speech: "Bolded Quotes"
Thought: Underlined
Telepathy: {Bracketed}
Character: Nafel Isunari

Nafel, an aqua-coated Niotie with tabby stripes on her back, is exploring the grounds. It's the small break that she has between her Elemental Magic class and her Instrumental Technique class, usually spent in the library. The feathers on her black wings are fluttering as she climbs on top of a small rock. She is feeling curious today, unusualy so. In her 15 00 years of life, she's never spent much time outside that wasn't for a specific task. She doesn't see anyone she knows, so she settles down on the sun-warmed rock and takes a book from the woven pouch on her neck out to read.

¤ #2, Male, 2200
¤ Elemental Sorcery (A)
¤ Debate (A)

\\ OOC: hehe, Aio is a bit of a pain in the rear, so if you don't want anything to do with a character such as him, just ignore him. To read his profile for personality content, he's #2 in my sig. [IMG]

Aiolos was rather content sitting in the Janardan courtyard. Dyo was always a lovely season. Not too hot, and everything was blooming.

Heh. Who knew this one was the sentimental type?

Really, though, he just rather prefered no irritating insects. And since it was still early in the season, not too many were warm enough to fly, much less try and infest his fur, or make a snack of his blood.

Thus, the nearly graduated sorcerer lounges beneath a tree, reading yet another book (as he always had his nose in one at some point or another throughout the day) this time about law.

The white flame dedicated to the tip of his long bushy tail flickers in the grass, attracting some of the more courageous critters with his magical light. He turns his blue optics towards them and snorts in distaste.

"Thyba." he commands, irritated, pointing the palm of his digitigrade paw in the creatures direction. The elemental spell relied on controlling air molecules around an object, and in this case, pushing them away.

Which it does successfully. The insects are blown rather far away. Satisfied, Aiolos returns to his reading, unaware of who may be paying attention.

3. OOC - No problem at all, I love characters with attitude problems. Much more fun then happy people! By the way, Nafel is really skittish around males, if you want to know the deal about her being so nervous.

IC - Nafel looks up, surprised to hear another Pendragon speak. She blinks, her gold and green eyes focusing on the black Pendragon near the tree. He's hard to see, he blends in so well with the shadows. Nafel watches him push away the bugs, and notices that he must be a mage or something of the like. She picks up her book and walks slowly towards him. {Hello... I'm Nafel. I noticed you're a mage, would you mind teaching me that spell...?} The is a nervous tremor in her mind-voice, as much as she tries to hide it. She hopes that he doesn't notice.

4. \\ OOC: hehe, no sweat. [IMG] He'll knock off being a jerk once he realizes she really wants to learn, and has half a brain - should she not want to bite him before they get that far! [IMG]

\\ IC

Aiolos slowly looks up, seeing the owner of the telepathed voice walking toward him. On first impression, and the nature of her request, he decides she's probably around his younger sister's age.

This fact alone was probably why he didn't merely quirk an eyebrow and ignore her like he did most others who came near.

Not one who enjoyed communicating mentally, he replies vocally, "Aiolos Vhaamanir." The tone almost suggested she should know who he was, arrogant as that may seem to anyone else. Then again, unless she was a fresh transfer, she would have heard about his bad temper and detestable personality.

"Why would you like to learn it, exactly?" here he tilts his chisled head just slightly, attempting to look her in the eye. It was a simple question, really, but the way he said it had an underlying tone of his rather regular form of intimidation, and probably would put off anyone without a strong backbone, or will to learn.

5. She picks up on the fact that he doesn't enjoy the telepathic speech and her next request is vocal. "Well met then, Aiolos Vhaamanir. I'm sorry I didn't know your name, I'm a new student here. I've only been here for a few weeks. I want to learn the spell because..." she looks down. Please don't give me trouble... she thinks to herself. She's had bad experiances with sharped tongued dragons. "I'm studying to become an Apprentince in Elemental Magic, and any bit of knowledge is appreciated. Besides, it's a useful spell, not like the intricate but useless magics some of the mages brag about." She snorts with contempt at the said mages.

6. Aiolos smirks at her comment about the other magic-users. Getting him to do anything but scowl or roll his eyes was quite a feat in itself, seeing as making him smile was quite certainly an impossibility for anyone but Meira; his blind sister.

"Well then, I suppose I'll just have to teach you." he pauses, "I'm a nearly graduated elemental scorcer, actually. Only another year and a half, and I'll test for my journeymanship."

That bit wasn't bragging. He rarely bragged, more often just patronized. As he spoke, he looked off into th distance.

"Do you know any Ramathian, or only modern?" He looks at her again. "All my spells are in Ramathian, but not knowing the ancient language shouldn't limit you in your execution of the technique."

7. She looks surprised when she hears of his rank. "Wow, you're one the first Elemental Mage I've met out of my classes or my teachers. As for Ramathian, I know a little bit, what they've taught us in class, plus I study it on my own. I'm able to pick things up rather quickly." this part isn't bragging, as well. She has almost no physical strength, but her mental capacity is very, very, high. She looks up and notices the smile. She cracks a cautious smile of her own.

8. Aiolos nods, "Alright, then."

Having been laying down, he pushes himself up to a seated position. Leaning back on his haunches, he flips over his five-digit bright red paws; palms facing upward, "The spell is an air elemental spell. More or less involving controlling the molecules between yourself and the object."

He pauses, explaining a bit more, "I conduct my magic through my paws, as well as watching what I'm doing. You may have a different technique; such as visualizing, or just thinking it. In any case, the end result is the same, the journey is simply different.

"Now, the word simply channels what you already know will happen. You can say 'thyba', 'shove', all day long and never get any result. The connection must be made in your mind between what will happen and the word or words associated with that desired result.

"From your hand, or your mind, you will telekinetically move the molecules, at the atomic level and structure, to bump into one another until they reach the object in question, and in result, bump into the object's molecules, and push it away, to however far in relation to the strength of the push you gave."

Realizing he'd just given quite a lecture he closes his jaws for a moment, looking down as his open book, getting an idea. Grabbing his rather average-sized hardbacked book, he puts it to rest, perching on it's back in a low tree branch.

Gesturing to it, he looks at Nafel, "Give it a try; knock it off the branch."

9. She nods. I hope I can do this... she thinks to herself. She sits on her hind haunches, her pands in the air. She closes them in fromt of her and closes her eyes. "Thyba" she says firmly. The book goes flying out about 40 feet. "Er... whoops. She looks at the book and then back at her teacher. "Sorry about that... She smiles shyly.

10. \\ OOC: I'm off for tonight, but I'll reply first thing in the morning. ;)

\\ IC

Aiolos quirks an eyebrow, smirking, "Not bad." he pauses, then turns back to her, "Ah, and don't worry."

He looks at the book, where it lay so very far away and commands strongly, "Kyna!" holding his paw open. The books soars back through the air, landing spine-first in his outstretched paw which closes tightly around the book the instant it hits.

Aiolos looks at Nafel again, as he sets it back on the branch, "Want to try again? With a little more control this time?"

11. She smiles, knowing that he's not angry. "Sure... how about moving it to that rock, overy there." She points to the rock, about 5 feet away. "I think I can manage to control it that much." She resumes her stance from earlier. "Thyba" The book hits just to the side of the rock.

12. Aiolos nods at the reaction of the book to the spell, and once more recalling the book to his waiting paw.

"Once more for good measure, or are you finished?" he asks, placing the book one more time atop the branch.

He wasn't a journeyman yet, which meant he wasn't supposed to teach. But he assumed that simply meant not teaching in an academy. He wasn't at all scared of getting in trouble. Who on Ramath-lehi would dare face his terrible temper and skill, just over teaching a rather rudimentary spell? None came to mind.

Why would he want to teach, anyway? Inform others what he knew so they can use it, perhaps even one day against him?

No. A simple spell here or there won't hurt anything. But he wouldn't become a professor of a mass of younglings; ever. Perhaps here or there to the persistent and willing, but that would be it for him.

Breaking from his thoughts, Aiolos returns his gaze to Nafel, awaiting either her execution of the spell, or her refusal to do it again.

13. Nafel nods. "Once more. I've got a bit of time left on my break, and besides, it can't hurt." She slides back onto her haunches. "I'm going to aim for.... she looks around "That tree stump." She points to the stump, about 10 feet away. "Thyba." the book lands on top of the stump. She grins. "I got it! Thanks Aiolos! Hey... out of curiosity, are you considering ever being a teacher? You're a lot better at showing 'dragons how to do things then my teachers." She resumes her four legged stance, and waits for a reply.

14. He nods, silent praise in ehr accomplishment, and for the final time, recalls his book.

At her quiery on his possible career in teaching he shakes his head twice, "Teaching a bunch of ungrateful little cubs is not for me. Besides, if half of them understood magic properly, they'd probably suceed in killing each other twice as quickly as they can with the non-understood and unharnessed energy taught to them now."

What a little ray of sunshine he is, eh? But, that was probably one of the underlying reasons teachers never taught very well the more powerful trades. Teach the wrong 'dragon something, and there just might be a civil war, besides the periodic ones with the Rapine.

Aiolos looks over his book, turning it slowly in his paws, making sure it had no abnormal tears from using it as a dummy, "But, all the same, I thank you for the compliment." he returns his blue-colored gaze to her, "For the same reason you dislike your professors' style of study, is the same reason I took to educating myself, and far surpassed what they ever expected." a secretive wink.

The young adult looks off again in a thoughtful pause, before turning to face her once more, "If you'd like another lesson, now or another time, feel free to search me out. I think you're quite capable of attempting the techniques I know. If you bump into Meira, my younger sister, she can usually tell you where I am."

A second smirk and devious 'brow quirk, "Just be careful you don't get associated with me - I'm not well liked." a short chuckle follows the dry remark.

15. OOC: Looks like the beginnings of a beautiful alliance, eh? [IMG]

BIC:
She grins at the underlying hint in his voice."Ah, I've no reputation to tarnish, so I think I might just take you up on that offer. My teachers are s-l-o-w. And true, I know a few 'Dragons who souldn't be learning magic. Any type. At all. I'll be sure to seek you or Meira out if I ever have any need. Thanks!" She winks back and grabs her things."But, while not undermining teachers, I've got a Musical Theory class to attend, so I must be going. Thank you for the lesson, however."She walks off, content with her new ally.

16. \\ OOC: hehe, aye! -- Since he's probably not going to tolerate anyone else bugging him while he's studying, I'll close this off, and in a couple days move it to the records forum. [IMG]

\\ IC

Aiolos watches her go, as content as she with the prospect of someone worthy of understandible and practical magic.

Then, opening his books again, he lays back down under the shade of his tree, and continues reading about law.
