Down the rabbit hole

    Who: Numi
Wearing: Blue jeans, blue jacket and a grey hoody underneath.

Numi had never seen a city this big before. The closest she'd ever come was a small town in the jungle she'd stumbled across, with huge buildings but very few people moving among them. This was different; this place had huge buildings and a huge amount of people rushing from one to the next. Numi kept bumping into people, forcing her to stop gazing in awe at all the buildings and duck her head, mumbling apologies left and right. Hyga, balancing on her shoulders and half-hidden by her hair, hissed at everyone who walked passed, his claws digging into her shoulders harder and harder as he became more and more agitated.

"Hush, little one." She said softly, reaching up and scratching his head as she dodged someone else. There had to be some place less crowded than this, but she'd already visited some of the parks that--in a much tamer way--reminded her of home; they were all occupied to full capacity, much to her annoyance. Numi didn't know what the next step was after this; was she supposed to choose a new cave to live in? She hadn't found any. Just the little strips of land between the buildings--someone had called them "alleys"--and the buildings themselves. She couldn't figure out what any of them were for, but people moved in and out of them--she avoided them as much as she could. This place was just...strange.

    She missed the jungle.

  2. Who: Arol
    Outfit: ref

He loved this city. He had only been here once or twice before, but it was busy and there was always something going on. Any given day you could visit and there would be some event going on, a rally, or even just the usual tourist spots such as museums and shopping malls. Arol knew the city had been suffering lately, but despite the difficulties it had faced, there was an abundance of people walking the streets. The flow of people was fast, and if you didn't keep up with their speed it was easy to get trampled. Arol was in a fairly good mood, and didn't mind it. The only trouble was trying to navigate through the crowd. If everyone was gone, it wouldn't be that hard to tell where you were going, but in the middle of a crowd it could be tricky. He felt sorry for any feydragons that might be wandering around, it was hard enough for someone his size to see. Occasionally he could see the sky or if he was truly lucky, a street sign, but mostly he was catching a good view of everyone's ears and hair. The real problems were those that decided to spike their hair up so no one under seven feet could see. Ungh. Fashion.

There was a park across the street to Arol's right, it was a long and flat field of bright emerald green. There really wasn't much to do there, except climb the statues scattered around, but at least it reminded people that there was a such thing as nature, even if it couldn't be found downtown. The arden hadn't come for a picnic or a walk, as many others had, it was just a landmark for him. He knew that there was a pet store beside it, and that was what he was aiming for. The winged male crossed through the crowd, trying not to shove or push as best he could, until he could slip into the entrance of the store. It was a small place, cluttered with cages and tanks, but there wasn't anyone there besides Arol so there was plenty of space to move around. Even the cashier seemed to be missing, but that wasn't much of a concern at the moment.

  3. Numi paused next to a park full of statues, as if they were standing in for the trees--because there weren't any. She shuddered, moving to walk passed and continue her wandering. This place was just too strange, with it's statue-trees and freaky buildings. She was glad Hyga seemed too agitated to take a liking to anyone, so he didn't go running off to be pet. She sighed, turning to look back at the statue-park; maybe it wasn't such a bad place after all, and it was away from these crowds of people, anyway--when Hyga went still on her shoulder, kneading her shirt as if he'd found a Nyota to eat.

She knew the position all too well. "Hyga, n-" He was gone before she could say the word that would save her, weaving through people's legs and darting under their feet, so that they tripped and fell into the street, shouting at her as she raced after him. "Hyga, no! Come back!" Her voice bordered on panic as it became apparent he was heading for one of the buildings, darting in as the door was opened by a pure white Yki. It closed before she got there, and she stopped outside, watching with wide eyes as the Macy circled him curiously, most likely purring--the traitor. Grabbing the door, she rattled it, struggling to pull it open--not noticing the little sign on the door that said "push". "Hyga, come back!" She was blushing furiously, trying not to look up from her work because she was sure the Yki would have noticed her by now. How humiliating.

  4. He hadn't even taken a full step into the store before a flash of amber sped past him. The door shut loudly, jingling the bells that hung from the handle. Arol jumped a little at the thing that seemed to have followed him into the store. Looking down, he saw that it was just an ordinary Macy, although it seemed odd that it would have come into the store. Normally they started inside the store in a cage, and would only exit once they were bought. This little guy seemed to have the system backwards. Arol smiled at the furry thing as it walked around him, both creatures just as interested in the other. It was purring loudly, which the arden had to admit was pretty adorable. The animal looked up at him with its large green eyes, bright as emeralds. He was a very handsome Macy.

The arden reached down to scratch behind the cat's ears when a violent burst of noise stopped him. The bells were jangling again, causing Arol to spin around toward the door. He took a step back as he was suddenly faced by a tall Lukuo girl. She was shouting something, and unless she was confusing him with someone named Hyga, it was probably a message to the Macy standing by his feet. Of course, if she truly wanted him, coming inside the store would be the best start, but she seemed to have some trouble with that. She looked younger than him, maybe she was still getting used to opening doors? Arol tried to stop himself from laughing, but couldn't hide his toothy grin. Still, he wasn't just going to let the ginger girl suffer, so he leaned forward and pulled the door toward him.

"Did you want to join us?" he asked, looking down at the yellow Macy as he stepped out of her way. Arol felt bad for the thill, it must have been embarrassing for her pet to just run away like that, especially since she had been in public when it happened. He looked out the door at the crowds outside. She was lucky he went somewhere she could catch him, it could have been a lot worse.

  5. Numi blushed so hard tears nearly came to her eyes, her hands twisting in her jacket's hem as the door opened. She tried not to look up at the male, standing in the doorway with her head bowed and her hair covering her face. She only blushed harder at the words, peering at him and managing to stammer a "thank you" as she slunk into the strange building. Hyga turned to look at her with large eyes, tilting his head in the most adorable fashion he could manage. "Mrow?" She stooped and scooped him into her arms, holding him tightly to her chest so he could feel how harshly her heart was pounding. "Hyga, please don't do that again." Her voice came out barely above a whisper, more a mouse's squeak than anything. She turned back to face the male, unable to raise her head fully to look at him, instead staring at his feet. "I-I'm sorry he b-bothered you. H-he likes you." She explained, hearing Hyga purr in agreement.

She finally peered at the Yki's face, offering a shaky smile. She was even more unnerved than she usually was meeting new people, in a completely unfamiliar environment as well, and so could only tremble a little and look at the white figure, cuddling Hyga as though the small form could protect her; he most certainly acted as if he could. Her gaze flicked around as she finally took note of what was inside the building, her grip loosening on Hyga slightly as her eyes widened. "Oh! They're trapped." She said, closer to her usual tones and filled with concern.

What had happened to the animals? Shouldn't they be out in the forest, where she usually saw them? She expected Hyga to be the only Macy on this floating island, but here there were quite a few cages with them, all colors and sizes--even kittens. Hyga leaped from her arms, going to inspect his kin curiously as she turned back to the Yki, her ears flattening a little in her worry. "Um...Excuse me...What is this place? Why are they trapped?" She felt out-of-place in this city, and she supposed she was, with how lost she was with the most common things. She had no doubt the Yki knew what this place was, and most likely everyone else out on the street, but she wasn't like them. Numi just didn't know her way around, not after spending almost a decade out in the forest on her own.
