Out of Character

Fenrir Halton. Wearing: Torn jeans and a favourite white t-shirt. When:81381, Trio 37.

Fenrir was wandering. Just wandering. His thoughts were lost in times gone by, such as his first sword. Ah, how good that felt to swing it. Of course, it was no longer a full sword, but a jagged piede of shattered metal. Not looking where he was going, he hit a tree full on. He fell, swearing loudly, onto the ground. "Clever, Fenrir. Very clever. he said to himself. That brought on the memories he would like to forget. Such as his large fall down the mountains in Dhruv. He would never forgive himself for those words that slipped from his mouth. Grunting, he stood. He was about to continue his aimless wandering, but he saw something fleeting through hte trees. So he went to go have a look.
Beyond a rock in the distance, a red-orange pendragon watched the whole scene. She laughed when he swore, and shape-shifted to know more about this funny male. Astralia was somewhat intrigued by him, and was interested in how his fall made him this way. She liked the look of him. Astralia immediately shapeshifted into a Chuchip, a common animal, as to not attract his attention. She crept quietly up to Fenrir, and shadowed him as he walked along.
No, he thought, there was no movement in the bushes. But that did not help to shake the feeling that he was being watched, followed. There was a snap behind him, and he turned around. He scanned the level of his eyes, nothing. Then he looked to the ground. False alarm, just a small Chuchip. He sighed, frustrated. His stomach also made a sigh. Of hunger, of course. At that moment, he could have sworn he heard a female snorty laugh...
Phew. Fenrir obviously didn't realise that she was not a Chuchip, just a shapeshifted one. She ran forward, and tried to lok cute and adorable. It worked. Fenrir went up and patted her. Astralia played the part even more, then ran off into the woods. She could not stand the Chuchip form anymore. This time though, she shapeshifted into a AsYssaj. She preferred the form to Chuchip. Then she loped back into the woods to watch Fenrir again, this time from a further distance.
After the Chuchip ran off, Fenrir stayed still for a moment. There was something different about this one. He had patted many animals (yes, he did have a soft side) but this one just seemed to... comfortable with being petted. A thought occured to him. Shapeshifting was not unheard of, infact common among boys. He forgot about the fact that females too could shapeshift, and yelled, "You're no fooling me young man!"
Astralia heard Fenrir yell loudly. She gulped in her AsYssaj form, and was even more careful about spying on the pendragon. She scouted around the outline of the trees and thought to herself, "You're playing a dangerous game, Astral." The inventor in her fired up. Maybe she could create something to spy on him without him knowing? She dismissed the idea immediately. It was too dangerous. She decided she'd better show herself to Fenrir. But hopefully she could lie and tell him it wasn't her ...
Fenrir was frustrated. Normally, when he bellowed loudly, young boys would be scared enough to come out of their shifted form and apoligize, meanfully. Young boys. Oops. What if it was a girl, and not young? He did not know what to say. He did not know much about the fairer sex, but he did know they did not particularly care for being called 'young men'. "I am sorry. But still the same, if you are a girl, please present yourself to me al the same. Stop playing these games with me, NOW!" He then felt silly. What if there was nobody? Oh well, curiosity never really killed the cat...
Astralia shape-shifted back into the familiar shape of a Pendragon. She thought the idea of meeting Fenrir over in her mind. Would he be angry? Or would he be sympathetic? She shrugged. Anything was worth a try. Wasn't it? She walked out to the trees and stopped hesitantly. "Well, Astral, you asked for it," she reassured herself, then stepped out into the open, and looked at Fenrir for the second time with Pendragon eyes.
Fenrir stopped. There was a young thill. She had golden fur, but some of it had fallen out. She was young, he guessed 16 to 18. He got the impression that she was reassuring herself. Had he scared her? He had not prepared for this, normally it would just be a child playing a trick. Although she was a child compared to him, she would not simply be taught a lesson by being made to apoligize. "I... umm..."[/COLOR] He was so embarrassed. Why was he speechless? This normally did not happen...
"You what?" she asked, somewhat meanly. He obviously was taken aback by her fur, or so he thought. "What did you think?" she asked again. "Come on! Don't be a mute. You were yelling a minute ago." She propped her hands on her hips and waited for an answer.
"Sorry, I'm not normally speechless when dealing with thills." There was a moment's silence, until he said, "Technically, I can't be a mute unless I have completely and utterly lost the ability to speak. And sorry, I thought you were a child, toying with my patience and using shapeshifiting. Sorry." Why did he say sorry so much? The words were just coming out. And what if the thill saw him crash into the tree? He would be so embarrassed! Hang on, why would he be so embarrassed? After all, she was just a thill. Or was she...
Astralia nodded. He had explained it ... well, partly. "I don't think we know each other. My name's Astralia, but you can call me Astral." She waited for him to answer her back. She tapped her feet. "I can talk to someone else if you want," she said. "I can go away right now. I will, actually." She turned and started walking away.
Fenrir laughed. "You Astralia, you are just like my sister, Gavaudine." Seeing that she wasn't stopping, he ran after her. He stopped in front of Astralia so that she couldn't move. Or at least, without going around, which would prove hard. "Haven't you ever met someone who doesn't chat straightaway?" Trying his best to test her patience, he added, "Or are you too good for that?"
She rolled her eyes. She extended her wings, and nearly hit Fenrir as she launched herself up into the air. She just wanted to get away from the madman. "What did you say your name was?" she asked Fenrir as she was poised to fly away. "And is that a compliment for me being like your sister?"
"I didn't say my name, to others, to myself maybe, but it is Fenrir. As for being like my sister, it is both a compliment, and a tease." He smiled to himself, waiting for a reply. He didn't get one, but a ticked off stare. "Well, don't be a mute!" He said it before he realised it. He didn't tease thills, not normally.
Astralia flew towards him angrily. She was angry. He teased her, he, he, he ... He was going to be one dead pendragon once she was finished with him. "I'd appreciate it if you did not make fun of me," she said calmly. She couln't lose her cool, not now. She landed quietly in front of Fenrir, and shapeshifted into a mutation of a bear. The bear had longer claws than usual, just perfect for ripping out someone's guts. The shape was larger, mostly for intimidation. The voicebox was mutated enough, so that Astralia could speak freely. And she did. "This is what happens if you agitate me."
Oh crap. Oh crap, oh crap, oh crap. Not another freaking fight. "Must we fight? Once you are so old you can't count high enough, you learn how to take on a bear. I warn you, and beg you, please don't take this to another fight." Reluctant to draw his sword, possibly killing the young dragon, he prepared for a fight with his bear hands. Out of Character

I know, its a lame joke. bear, get it? lol its so lame its funny enough to not laugh. lol im confused!

Astralia's heart broke at the sight of the old pendragon not taking his sword out. Why would he do that? she wondered. Why would he do any of this? Why? She shapeshifted back into her favourite alternate form, the AsYssaj. She ran up to Fenrir and cuddled herself next to him. She purposely didn't want to be a pendragon at the moment. She didn't want to have Fenrir see her open tears. A drop of water fell on Fenrir's blue jeans.
Fenrir shook his head. Females, in his opinion, were like a mystery. They were immensly frustrating, but the more you learned, the more you wanted to solve them. Pretending not to notice, he just patted the 'AsYssraj' on the head. Hethen noticed a drop of water on his blue jeans. A tear? Was she crying? He stpped petting her. "That is you, isn't it Astra? I have never understood thills, and I do not believe I ever will. Why are you crying?"
Astralia's only response was to cuddle up to Fenrir even closer. She couldn't talk. Not now. She was too run over by tears. She nodded in response to his question. She felt her heart twist when she looked up at him. It was peculiar, and she had never felt it before. It was love.
